Same topic, different windows

I've recently started to create a context based help in
Robohelp (combined with a regular, TOC-help). I'm looking for a
functionality where the same topic can be opened in different
windows (main, second etc...), depending on where the user is when
he or she presses the F1 key. Does anyone know if it's possible to
do this?
I would also like to have the opportunity to access the very
same text through the TOC and by pressing the F1 key (and getting a
popup window).

Hi Catte and welcome to our little community
This is definitely possible. However, some of it will depend
on your interaction with your developers. They can code the calls
so they end up in the additional windows you create.
Basic steps are to create the content. Create the additional
window. Then ask the developer to map the Context Sensitive calls
so they open the desired topic in the special window.

Same VI, different window appearance

I would like to use the same VI either as a stand alone function or as being called as a Sub-VI from a different application.
As a standalone, I have been using VI properties, window appearance = Top Level.
As a sub, I have been using VI properties, window appearance = Dialog.
But then I have two different VIs.
I am sure this is easy for someone who knows what they are doing; however, for me...
I am using LabView 7.1.1

Hi,
I can't find an easy property that sets a VIs Appearance programmatically. SO, you will have to set all the elements (top level vs. dialog) one by one. It shouldn't be that bad though.
I made you a quick mock up VI that tells you if the VI is running top level or as a sub VI (VI class porperty >> Execution >> Execution State). Then wire that into a case sturucture, then right click the case structure and select Add Case For Every Value. Outside the case structure put down a property node, and find each propety that you wnat to change. For the mock up, I used Show Menu Bar, and the Show scroll Bar properties. If top level, both are true, otherwise they are false.
Run the VI (called sub VI) top level and you will see one behavior. Drop it down as a sub VI, and run the top level VI, and notice the other behavior.
Now you just need to find the properties you want to set (unless there is an easier way to go from top level to dialog that I can't remember...).

Same Apple ID for iTunes, but different Windows accounts...

My wife and I use the same Apple ID for iTunes, but we have different Windows 7 accounts on the same computer. I've uploaded a pile of CDs. ITunes Match seems to match them ok, but she can't see them from iTunes on her account. We could upload the CDs twice, once for each account, but that's a wicked waste of time. Is there a workaround for this?

iTunes Match is associated with only one Apple ID and cannot be shared across Apple IDs. For your wife to make use of iTunes Match and see the music in the cloud she must login to your Apple ID on the iTunes Store and she will have to stay logged in. This may cause difficulty when updating apps purchased with her Apple ID.
Also keep in mind that a computer can only be associated with one Apple ID for iTunes Match, automatic downloads and re-downloading of content once every 90 days: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627.

How can I make different windows of the same application I have open remain on their respective desktops/spaces after reboot?

Hi all,
I use the same applications for work, entertainment and other personal activities, so it's impossible to simply assign different apps to different desktops/spaces. Thus, I have open windows of the same programs (Pages, TextEdit, Preview) arranged on several desktops. If I reboot my laptop, the windows are just crammed on Desktop 1. Can something be done about it?

many thanks for your efforts and your time (preparing and posting the screenshot, answering to this question,...).
Unfortunately, moving the focus to the next window only works with windows on the same desktop.
btw, using a german keyboard layout and german language settings the shortcut is "cmd+<".
I can switch with this shortcut between different windows of my Safari which reside on the same desktop, but I cannot swith between different safari windows distributed over several desktops.

How can I make "Open Link in New Tab" open the new tab in the same window, not a different window?

When I Ctrl-click a link and choose "Open Link in New Tab" it chooses to open the new tab in a different window (one that's already open) rather than opening the new tab in the same window. Even though the other window is minimized, it automatically gets restored and placed on top of the window I was in. This interferes with my context, forcing me to minimize the window again to get back to the one I was in before. I want the new tab to open in the same window, so I can still see the tab I was in. Some links seem to have the "Open Link in New Tab" behavior automatically, so I never know when I'm going to get thrown out of my current window. Very annoying.

If you have a mouse with a scroll button then try to middle click the link to open the link in a new tab.
It is also possible that the links use onclick JavaScript instead of a href to specify the action.

Any Function in a PDF form opens a different window of the same form

Hello,
I have a customer who uses forms pulled from our company's SharePoint site. Within the form there is an "Open" button that she clicks on which opens a window within Adobe Pro to the location on our SharePoint site that stores her completed PDF forms. In SharePoint, there is a "copy" option which obviously creates a copy of the selected form into the storage location. The issue is, that when she clicks on copy, another window to the same storage location opens, this time in her web browser. In the past she would click on "copy" and, from within Adobe Pro, the page would simply update and show the copy of the document.
Additionally, when she clicks on any function or button from within the document a new version of the same document reopens in a different window. By the time she's completed working on a form she has roughly 6 or 7 windows open.
Any help would be appreciated.

I forgot to mention that she is running Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 on a Windows 7 64Bit machine.

Why am I getting different results for the same resolution but different Windows boxes, Win 7 and XP

I am running an .exe on two different windows boxes, one in Win 7 and one on XP. I set both for resolution 1024 x 768.
On Win 7 (laptop and old Dell desktop) I have a great looking app. On the WIn XP boxes all the fonts to large. THis doesn't make sense to me as all the PC's have the same resolution.
Has anyone run across this before?

          A durable topic subscriber MDB uses its name to generate its client-id.
          Since JMS enforces uniqueness on this client-id, this means that if a durable

          Work-around:
          A) Create a custom connection-factory for each server:
          1) configure "JNDIName" to the same value across all servers

          2) configure "ClientId" to a unique value per server
          3) enable "UserTransactionsEnabled"
          4) enable "XAConnectionFactoryEnabled"
          5) set "AcknowledgePolicy" to "ACKNOWLEDGE_PREVIOUS"
          6) target the CF at a single WebLogic server
          (Number 5 is required for non-transactional topic MDBs)
          B) In the MDB's weblogic-ejb-jar.xml descriptor, set the MDB's connection
          factory to the JNDI name of the custom connection factories configured in
          (A). Optionally, also specify the subscriber-id via the jms-client-id
          attribute.

          are in the same cluster as the destination.)
          3) This work-around will not work for non-WebLogic JMS topics.

How can I have two different windows up on one screen at the same time?

How can I have to different windows open on my screen at one time? Kind of like a split or shared screen.

If you want this split screen thingy for a single app, do like captfred suggests or see if the app itself supports some sort of splitting, like MS Excel.

Hi. I'm having a weird experience on opening document using
the Microsoft word 2008 application in MAC OS X.
To be specific on what is the scope of my application.
What I'm trying to do is run or simulate my application on appletviewer on a certain pop-up HTML
document. The first part of my statement block on my code doing well on
executing the downloading process of a file and save it on local machine.
This portion of works fine.
But the thing that I'm having some difficulties is
whenever i Re-opened the downloaded file from my local machine
that is being downloaded from my server.
I'm trying to established a checking or triggering pattern that the
file from my local machine was modified or not.

Now the weird things happen here.
The file was able to opened- as I wanted to, but when a made changes or not doing anything.
The Microsoft Word 2008 application on the MAC Activity Monitor. The instance was still alive or
keep running and I execute MAC commands being implement on the Process on the Terminal and it still
stuck in that thing. which means I have to manually kill the process of the said application on
the GUI part of Task Manager of MAC and my 2nd statement on the if replies.
Any thoughts will glady appreciated.

AP Divs (layers) move when I open my website on different window size.

First of all, this is my first time trying to make a website.
I'm doing an assignment for my class and i found it difficult for me to fix. I have spend 4-5 hours researching online but nothing work for me.
Well,the problem is the AP Divs (layers) move when I open my website on different window size(iphone,ipad).
The website only look right on 1366 x 786 resolution. Please take a look at my 2 pics below:
And I don't know how to make the website to fit on the iphone and ipad so that I don't have to scroll down or sroll to the right to view the whole thing.
Please someone help me!

That's what APDivs do. This is the single most common problem new people have with web page layouts. DO NOT use positioning. You don't need it. Start over. Learn to use CSS floats, margins and padding to align elements.

How can i run multiple instances of Photoshop EXE at the same time on windows 7

Alright. You may ask why do you need multiple ?
Assume that i have 10000 PSD files in 10 different folders
I have a script that just save as them as PNG
And these files are each 3000x3000 px
My computer has 8 cores and 1 photoshop exe is only using 1 cpu core
Also i have SSD raid system it has 750 mb read write per second
So right now i am wasting my time with running only 1 photoshop exe instead of at least 4

I'm not aware of a way to run multiple instances or different versions of photoshop at the same time on windows.
Assuming of course they are all installed on the same operating system.
On mac versions you can running two different versions of photoshop at the same time, but i don't think that's possible on windows where it
appears that only one version of photoshop can run at a time.

I am too facing the same problem. I am using Jakarta Poi to display my resultset in an excel sheet directly(and not into a jsp)
The browser opens a window showing Open Save Cancel. If i click and save the excel sheet and then open, it opens. But clicking on Open directly doesnt open the excel sheet. Rather it gives the same error
The file name or path name does not exist.
The file you are trying to open is being used by another progrtam . close the document in other program and try again
The name of the work book your tring to save is the same as name of another document that is readonly .try saving workbook with different name

Hyperlink for an Object need to be open in a different window

I have a Crystal Report which has few sub reports. In one of the Sub Report I have created a Hyperlink for an object using the formula Editor. This report is viewed from a different Portal with the help of ASP Pages. For some reason when I run the report and click on the Hyperlink, it is opening in the same window.
I want the report to be opened in a different window. Following is the formula I am using as a Hyperlink in formula Editor.

Excel 2010; Two file opened in a single instance with two different windows... Is it possible?

I need to open a new Excel file to be display on a 2' monitor. The new file need to be under the same instance has my main Excel file to prevent problem with a special dll collection that I'm using.
