Same user id in two ipads?

I own two ipads, and created two different user ids for each one of them. Now I want to keep just one of those ids in both of the devices, how can I do that? If i do so, what happens with the apps I have already purchased?
Thanks in advance for your support.

You can log in with same ID on both. But to update software, you need to be logged in under the same AppleID you used for the original purchase.

Using the same iTunes account and two different iPads, is it possible to associate each iPad to a different phone number?

They must be iPhone numbers and only if you have two iPhones that are associated with the same Apple ID. If you don't have two iPhone numbers, you can use another email address one one of the iPads in order to use FaceTime and Messages on both devices that are both using the same Apple ID.

  • How do you install the same Apple ID on two ipads

I have an original ipad and just purchased an ipad air.  I want to use the same Apple ID and it won't let me.  Is there a way to do this?

    Songflower wrote:
I am setting up a new ipad and this is on the Create Apple ID page
That is the problem, you don't want to create a new Apple ID. You want to sign in with the Apple ID. When you activate the iPad you are given the option to sign into your ID or create a new one. You selected the wrong option. Try going back a screen or two to get the sign in option again.
You can always skip the sign in and wait until the device is activated then sign in  -  settings>iTunes and App Store>Apple ID.

  • Can I use same apple ID on two IPads? And how do I name new IPad..Thank you in advance for any help

Can I use same Apple ID on my old and my new IPad....and if so, how do I name the new iPad. want to keep games on one iPad and use the other for emails etc. Many thanks

    Hi,
Yes you can definitely use the same Apple ID regardless of how many apple devices you have. This way you can install the apps that you have already purchased.
It really does not matter what name your iPad is. You usually rename them under Settings>General>About>Name>
Just a note if you use the same icloud apple id as well, both devices will recieve the imessages and facetime calls.
    Hope that helps!

  • Playing Same Video on Two iPads?

The First iPad is Generation One and the second iPad is a second generation iPad.  Now video mirroring is not the answer since I have tried AirView and Airserveer but the video only plays on ONE iPad at a time.
Basically, i would like to mimic a dual screen DVD player.  Is that even possible?  I've been scouring for apps for about 24 hours now and have finally resorted to coming to the community.  Please advise.
I know the "easy" answer is to put the video on both iPads and give the kids the earphones and let them enjoy themselves.  Only issue is right now is that the kids are uncomfortable with earphones (they are 6 and 4) but both want to watch the same video on their own iPads.

So, you want to stream exactly the same video? There aren't players with exact synching capabilities and, given that the OS doesn't support local streaming on the API level, it's not easy to quickly code one either. Therefore, I can't quickly code one myself (I've written several players but for local playback only).
However, such a player (synching the exact second it starts playing so that video is played back absolutely in parallel) can definitely be written. Just ask someone to write a player or enhance his existing, streaming-capable one with synching capabilities over, say (I'd ersonally use it), GameKit.
BTW, if you need automatic synchronization AND you aren't afraid of putting the same video on the two iPads (as I've stated, programming streaming - as opposed to local playback - isn't that easy), feel free to tell me and I quickly code a synchronizing player. Then, all you need to do is ask a friend with an iOS developer account to deploy the app on your iPads and you're set.

  • We have two Ipod Touches in the Home and two Ipads. Right now one of the Ipads has a separate user indentity. Can both Ipods be used to use the same library with different user ids's and different passwords.

We have two Ipod touches and two Ipads in our home. Right now both Ipods are using the same used id and password to access itunes and sync music. But recently both os us have downloaded the Ibooks segment to our Ipads and now the only way to sync the second Ipad for Ibooks is to use the same used id and password. But the problem is that with our two Ipads in the home, we established two separate used ids and passwords one for each. Is there a way for me to still use the second Ipod touch and the second Ipad with completely separate userids and passwords. In other words to share the music library I have accumulated and yet to sign in each with our separate identities. That way the Ipads can sync and the Ipod touches can sync. Is this possible.

This is to avoid piracy. What could happen is, people could buy music, and give it away for free online. Usually it is then you buy a complete album off iTunes that it will only be available on one device. It is tied to that account, and the device must be registered to that account to listen to it.

  • HT4137 I have two iPad's that use the same iTunes/store account. I want the two devices to play games with with other, but it recognizes them as the same. I have set up two different iCloud accounts, but still not recognizing the users as different. What

Hello, I have no idea if my question went out, so I'll post it again. I have two iPads (one 3rd gen and one 4th) that use the same iTunes/store account. I want the two devices to game with each other, but the apps recognize them as the same. I have created two different iCloud accounts in an attempt to differentiate between the two, but no luck. How can I continue to use the same iTunes/store account for music and movies, but also have the two devices recognize each other for games?

You can share your iTunes ID and still have separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs, they don't have to be the same.  If you kids don't already have an iCloud account, have them set up separate accounts on their devices using separate IDs.  If they are already sharing your account, migrate their devices to separate accounts.  To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos they wish to keep to ther camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), then tap Save to Camera Roll.  If they are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to them so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in their new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from thier device and won't effect your device), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone (if using iOS 7).  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create their new account and choose Merge to upload the data.  Once everyone is on a separate account you can go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into each account separately and delete your data from their account.

    Any help would be great.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have to disable Automatic Downloads on the iPad where you don't want to get the purchases. Open Settings > iTunes & App Stores, and disable Automatic Downloads for Apps, Music and/or Books. Read > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4539

  • Using Configurator to share two iPads with multiple users

I work in an office where several people want to share two iPads. We require individuals to connect to our secure wireless network with their own username and password. Each user also wants to set up the iPad to connect to their own Exchange account. Each person will also use their own Apple iTunes store ID and download their own apps.
If I understand the differences between the two applications, Apple Configurator would be the appropriate tool to manage this and not the iPhone Configuration Utility. If I understand how Configurator works, I set up the iPad to connect to Jane's email and to connect to the Apple Store and our wireless using Jane's credentials. Then I back up that profile using Configurator. Next I configure the same device to connect to Jim's email and to connect to the Apple Store and our wireless using Jim's credentials. Then Jim backs up the device to his profile using Configurator.
Now whenever Jane uses the iPad, she brings it back and plugs it into our Mac to backup her profile changes (her apps, her home wireless network settings, etc.). Jim sits down and "Checks out" the iPad to himself which loads his previously backed up profile. If Jane still has the laptop checked out, Jim can plug in the second iPad and load his profile.
Is this how it works? It seems like Configurator can do this, but not the Configuration Utility (which means you need a Mac running Lion to use Configurator).
    Thank you,
    Sean

Thanks gyrhead. Those are some of the better articles I've seen on using Configurator. One of our computer lab managers has been playing with it (I work in the IT department for a university). Basically I can see us using it to manage iOS devices we provide for use in the labs or on a short-term checkout basis, but I don't see Configurator as being a solution for the departments we support who want to share iPads between users. Even if a department has a Mac that can run configurator (many do not), I think it will lead to some bigger support and training issues that we do not have the resources to manage.
For now we are going to tell our faculty and staff departments that iPads and other iOS devices are meant to be personal devices and are not meant to be easily shared. Until Apple comes up with an easy way to login to different profiles on the device (I have also seen some third party products in development... like this one: http://nowsci.com/userprofiles/) we are going to recommend that departments purchase an iPad for any staff who needs it. If they really want to share one iPad among multiple users, they can set up a single Apple/iTunes account for the device tied to a purchasing card, and then just use Safari for checking email (instead of configuring everything for individuals). Of course if they really want to it is not a big deal to delete your email/calendar settings and then add them each time you use the device, but if it wasn't my own device I would just use Safari to check my email and calendar over the Web.

  • In iPad 1 ios 4 may have two ipad Apps the same from two accounts itunes

In iPad 1 ios 4 may have two ipad Apps the same from two accounts itunes one free other paid account, hence one free App and another paid App the same App?

If both accounts are authorised on your computer's iTunes (Store > Authorise This Computer) then you can download the books from both accounts to there (download the books from one account, then sign out of it via Store > Sign Out, log in with the other account via Store > Sign In and download the books from the other account), and sync them over to the iPad's iBooks app via the Books tab.
Or you might be able to sign out of your account on the iPad by tapping on it Settings > Store and sign in with the other account and download the books from that account - I think that it should work, but it's not something that I've tried so I'm not 100% sure that it will

  • Can we share apps on two ipads using two different accounts on the same computer?

I just got and iPad 2 and am giving my wife my old iPad. She has a separate itune account for her ipod. Can we share apps on the two iPads with two different accounts running on the same computer?

    Dear Dah,
I now have two iPads, which I also (need to) have separate AppleID's for. I understand I can share apps between them if I authorize iTunes on my iMac with both ID's, but I am not quite sure about the correct way to do that. I already have the iMac authorized for AppleID#1. If I go into iTunes and click on Store/Authorize this Computer... and enter my AppleID#2 information into Account name and Password boxes, does this authorize my iMac's iTunes for BOTH ID's or does it just change the authorization from ID#1 to ID#2?
If the former is correct, I understand the way to proceed is to xync up both iPads to iTunes and then I can drag and drop apps from one iPad's library listings to the other, right?
If this is not the correct way to get dual authorizations, what is?
    Thanks!

  • Can you use FaceTime using two iPads with same apple id

Have two iPads for wife and I. Both use same apple ID account. Can you use FaceTime between them?

Heres what you do. got to settings>facetime>add an email and than add another email (note: cannot be the same email that you use on your apple ID) A verifaction email will be sent. Go to your email account and verify the email by clicking on the link. Now using the other ipad, make a facetime call to the email you just verified and you can now facetime between the two!
One more side note. Make sure that only the email you just verified has a check mark on it. The other ipad shoud have a check mark next to the orginal apple ID email.
