Sample code - cytoscape plugin - specifying database connection parameters?

Hey all-
I'm trying to get the Spatial plugin for cytoscape working (http://www.oracle.com/technology/industries/life_sciences/code/ndm_cyto11.zip). Anyone know where you specify the database connection info?

Dynamic passing database connection parameters

I have a situation which is two different source of client but they have the same functions, so have the same screens. But they maintain two separate database even with same table structure/tablename (I inherited this and cann't change it). I am thinking I should have one reusable Entity Object/View Object. But when I create entity object, I create database connection first which has the database name/password/sid etc. My question is that is it possible the database connection parameters(name,password,host,sid etc) can reside in configuration files or something like that. somewhere in the java code, when I create a instance of view object/entity object, I find out which type of client is and so by passing the correct connection string, then the correct database entity object will be created. Is that something feasiable? Do I make myself clear? Please help!

Basis persons are configure the drivers in XI system to u r database.Once installation is complted u have check the following location whether drvers are install succesfull or not.

I used our sample Xtreme.mdb to test this and it works for me. I am using RAS to make the connection though.

Database connection pooling with weblogic 8.1.

Hai All,
I am new to weblogic database connection pooling.
I am using Weblogic8.1 and want to use connection pooling to get a jdbc connection. my database server is Oracle 8.1.7.
Things which i have done using the weblogic admin console.
I have created a Jdbc connection pool named myconnectionpool.
I have created a datasource named mydatasource.
and named the JNDI as myjndi.
Is the above process correct to create the connection pool in the weblogic8.1.
I am not aware of the java code to get the database connection object from the connection pool which i have created.
can any one please let me know the java code to get the connection from the pool.

Database connection error when running report from web application

Hi all,
When I open a report in Reports Builder , and enter the database connection parameters, everything works fine. When I run my web application from JDeveloper (9.0.5.1), and I tried to run a report, I get this error:
Rep-501 : Unable to connect to the specified database.
I have ran tnsping, and it works fine. My tnsnames.ora file looks like this :

The error says database connection error. I am able to connect to the database using sqlplus. I tried to restart the failed worker, but the same error is repeating.

One thing which I noticed now is in the apps Tier the
tnsnames.ora under $TNS_ADMIN
shows entry like this:

                (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<dbServer>)(PORT=1521))

        )Actually *(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<appsIPaddress>)(PORT=1521))* this line in the tnsnames.ora is not correct. In fact the appsServerName should be replaced with dbServerName
I deleted the tnsnames.ora and reran autoconfig but it is again recreating the same entry.
Any clue how this can be fixed?

OBIEE 11g database connection error after deploying to server.

Hi,
I deployed RPD to obiee 11g server and when I run a report it is giving database connectivity error. In 10g we just specify OLAP_DSN, OLAP_USER and same in connection pool with database password. I did the same in 11g as well but it's not working.
Is there any other place I need to specify database connection detail?

Configure database connection after deploy to Tomcat

I developed a Web Application in JDeveloper. The database connection is defined in data-sources.xml for internal testing. When I deploy my application to Oracel Application Server, I can configure data sources in Oracle application server. My question is: when I deploy my application to Tomcat, I followed Tomcat document to create data source in Tomcat, but where is the java code to change to database connection in the application created in JDeveloper?

Java EE data sources is a standard. If e.g. you reference jdbc/hrconn in your application (you don't mention what you use) then configuring this as a JNDI name for the data source in Tomcat should be enough to get it working

I want to capture the database connection parameters in Java collaboration defination running on eGate5.1.
In eGate4.5, I can do it by calling this method: this.jCollabController.getEWayConnectionConfigAsProperties(String s), but I'm not sure how to do it in eGate5.1 since their framework are quite different.

How to create a database for sample code from Tutorial/Book?

I want to try out the sample code from [http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920013471.do] for the book SQL Pocket Guide 3rd Ed.
I have downloaded the oracle vm/appliance for oracle 11g2 and I have started sqlplus as sysdba.
I'm feeling overwhelmed with these links describing how to create a database:

(1) What is the command to list the existing databases?
(2) What is the command to delete an existing database?
(3) When creating a new database with the create database command, is it necessary to specify the logfile, character set, national character set, datafile, sysaux datafile, undo tablespace, temp table space? Do these have reasonable defaults? I'm not sure what proper directories are to specify for Linux and the examples are for windows.
Can someone give me a simplified create database command to create a database called 3rdEdPocketGuide? Should I follow the example at [http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Oracle-7-HOWTO-3.html] and instead of orcl use 3rdEdPocketGuide?
(4) What command do I use to execute the script that comes with the book SQL Pocket Guide 3rd Ed? This is the script that has all the drop table, create table and insert commands in it.
(5) What command do I use in sqlplus to set the current default database prior to running this script? Perhaps this is the connect command? I don't want my script to create tables in the system database.
(6) I tried the command "connect 3rdEdPocketGuide" and it prompted for a password! Yikes! What password? Do I need to specify a password when I create a database? I cannot tell if I have successfully created such a database or it is just prompting me for a password to thwart malicious users. Is it is possible to create databases which don't require a password or maybe a zero length password?

This application does not fail in other databases, only in which I have the problem.
The connection to the database through the SQLPLUS and other applications works well. The error is presented only when calling reports from the application.
Another point is that the problem is presented with some users and not with others even they have the same conditions as roles, profiles, grant objects, etc.
If i run my report with the following url applying directly on address bar of web browser then it run fine on web browser
http://hostname.domain:port/reports/rwservlet?report=myreport.jsp&userid=un/pw@db&destype=cache&desformat=PDF
OAS 10g and Database are on different machines.
Please... any idea about this problem?

I use a report object, imagine that sends connect information when creating the Job in the reports server.
However the same problem happens if I call to report from the Internet Explorer with all parameters of connectivity, for example;
http://hostname.domain:port/reports/rwservlet?report=myreport.rep&userid=un/pwdb@&destype=cache&desformat=PDF
The only difference in this database is that it is configured in a RAC and as I mentioned the problem occurs with some users and not with others, even if they are identical.
