Sample editing bug in 10.1

For some reason the transient editing mode/slicing in LPX 10.1 is not working correctly.
Have a look at this video and you'll see that the slices i make are not reflective of the exs24 instrument created.

Any input would be great. Thanks

Hey Benji,
I've been working on a project this am.... uisng the cionvert transients to Sampler feature and no such issues here..
Manually created or moved transients are accurately reflected in the EXS instrument created no matter what i have tried to duplicate your issue.
Same settings as yourself...
Except.... you have a plugin (Elastique) on your Audio track.... remove the plugin and see if that affects things

    Yes indeed ,Logic crashes.

You can work with Logic if you don't use that function at the mo,until they fix it.
Which function are you specifically using, and what you'd like to achieve?Maybe there's a different way to do it.

  • Key command for playing region in sample edit window... doesn't work?

I'm trying to get the play/stop key commands to behave as they did in L7. I want to use the enter and zero keys on the number pad to start and stop playback in the arrange window. I want to use the space bar ONLY to play back the selected region when I'm in the sample edit window.
(reason being when you're flying back and forth between the two windows, it's all too easy to start the transport in the arrange window, an annoyance when editing individual pieces of audio in the sample editor)
When I assign the space bar to the key command "play/stop region" in the sample edit window, it only plays the entire waveform... i.e. it doesn't play only the highlighted region. This must be a bug. If you click the little speaker icon ("prelisten") in the sample editor, it will play the selected region only, but there's no hot key for this button.
Oddly, the "windows showing audio files" play/stop key command, DOES play only the selected region in the sample edit window, but unfortunately, this key command behaves globally, so if the arrange window is selected, it stops and starts playback there too, which I don't want.
    Any ideas (besides a bugfix)?
    Thanks...
    Mitchell Sigman

    Hi,
Prelisten is defaulted to ⌥M. You can reassign any keycommand though. See p. 159 of the LP8 User Manual.

  • Consolidation of Oracle Database 10g Express Edition "Bugs"

I'll take a stab at cleaning this up. This is a collection of postings, reported as bugs, but not really bugs or difficult to understand/reproduce. These were filed in the Database General forum and they should have been filed in the XE forum.
Firstly, thank you for taking the time to report these issues and suspected issues. In the future, it would be quite helpful to everyone if you reported these in the XE forum.
    1. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Bugs
This is not a bug. The developer toolbar will show when you are authenticated to the development environment. You do not have to be authenticated to your application for the developer toolbar to appear.
    2. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Bugs
If data is present in the cache, this is up to the application developer (you) to implement the proper security which prevents this behavior.
    3. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition  Bugs
This is a minor issue, at best. For this type of search interface, it is desirable to perform a case-insensitive query. Wouldn't it be a shame if you searched for "item" and it did not return results that contained "Item".
    4. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Bugs
This is not a bug. Different authentication schemes have different data restrictions. It is up to you, the application developer, to easily implement the data validations appropriate for your application.
    5. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Bugs
Insufficient information provided. You will have to specify what exact error message is arising and what data you changed which resulted in this error. A complete step-by-step test case is desirable, please.
    6. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Bugs
Duplicate of #5 above. And still insufficient information.
    7. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Bugs
Not a bug. This is intentional behavior. If I know I want to enter table name EMP, it would be bad from a usability standpoint to always force the user to employ their mouse.
    8. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Bugs
    This could not be reproduced.
    9. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Bugs
Almost identical to #8. Please clarify what the expected behavior should be.

  • Sample Edit window - no waveform display

When I have a pretty loaded up song that's stretching the memory I find that if I try to open an audio file in the sample edit window the window is just blank with no waveforms or menues. Re-booting can solve the problem for a while then it returns midway through working on the song. I guess it's just Logic running out of internal memory (I have as much RAM installed as Logic can currently access).
Anyone have any sugestions/solutions? I've done the usual undo history thing and tried to rationalise the memory and am reluctant to start dissing plug-ins/instruments to gain the memory back - "re-organize memory" has no effect.
When this occurs I can continue to load extra plug-ins and open new instruments so the memory isn't totally maxed out but perhaps too loaded to handle the waveform display in the sample edit window.
All other elements work OK when this problem exists.
    Julian

John, the thread you mentioned now seems to have a solution to the problem
    it worked on my system.

  • Sample edit window Help!

How can I play a selection In the Sample edit window with a key command?
If I hit Space bar (my play/stop key command) it plays from the beginning, but it doesn't play the selection, and it doesn't play even from the playhead.
    Any ideas please?

    Here's what I'm imagining:
you're using the main arrange window, you have your audio bin open as well as the sample editor. If you don't have the sample window selected, you may triggering from the audio bin. The tab key actually switches windows (within the arrange) and you'll see a subtle hi-lite of the active window.
    Maybe that'll help?

  • Wierd behaviour in Sample Edit

In Logic Pro 8 in the sample edit window logic start cycling from the begining of the region with cycle off. and the only way to get it to stop is to close the window. And then when you open it up it starts cycling again. And btw whats up with no key command to play what you've highlighted in the sample edit window?

Well it turned out my preferences got corrupted, but still whats up with no play selection command in the sample edit window. And who thought it was a good idea to remove the output selector from the edit window and make a prelisten object in the environment?

  • Multiple Sample Edits

Hi all, was just wondering, is there a quick key to open up multiple regions in seperate sample edit windows. So for instance I select all individual regions on a track, hit the mysterious quick key, they all open in their own sample edit window, I apply my edits.
    Any ideas?

Hey LowKey, I am alright, you?
The way I will often do this:
Save regions ( to process ) as audio file
Batch normalize in Peak while I work on something else.
Reopen the song when Peak is done.
    Very easy and fast.
If you want to do this manually or have no app with batch processor ( there are many, Sample Manager is great for this work and cheap ) or only have a few edits per track:
Open the sample editor and arrange both visible ( tile windows horizontally )
Go through the arrange window with double click programmed in your mouse
select ( actually double clicking to bring the sample editor to focus ) region after region and press the key for normalize
Left hand then controls the selection, right presses "n" ( here, it is my KC for norm ).
Logic is fast with these edits but you should try a demo version of a batch processing software if you think you may be losing an hour+ every week. They work fast and in the background. I also script this stuff.
You can of course, just double click your way through it and have several documents open, as tedious, but a little different. Logic is versatile, but in a strange way, you are asking it to be something different ( a Sample Editor or Batch processor ) so it requires a little more work.

  • Does anyone know this Sample Edit function??

    Hello,
I recently re-installed 8 on my computer and had to start over with my key commands. I lost one major for me and that was the one in the Sample Edit window when you highlight a section of audio and hit the space bar and it plays from where you highlighted.
Does anyone know what that is or a command for it? I checked in the key commands section under "Sample Edit Window" and tried every possible function and nothing worked.
    Thank you for your time,
    Anthony Mazza

Go to "Windows showing audio files" in the Key Command window and choose your key command for "Play Stop Selection".

  • Sample Rate Conversion in Sample Edit Window

The option to sample rate convert in the sample edit window appears to have disappeared (was in Logic 7) This enabled destructive editing (sample rate conversion) of a selection of an audio file. There are a number of sound design or problem fixing reasons I have used this feature in the past.
The only option is now to copy, convert and replace the whole file and as this is not destructive if you wanted to apply the same changes to a number of different mixes (saved as different songs) this is now also no longer possible.
Is this feature available on another menu? (Time and Pitch machine will not do the same function)

    Hi tslr...
I am thinking that ever since Apple came out with Core Audio architecture they basically put it in every audio app that they had, that said- Apple's buyout of Emagic was most probably where they were able to get allot of the Core Audio architecture from, (there is a memo somewhere about this- quite public knowledge)...
Basically after OS9 and the buyout it was really cool to see parts of logic running around the OS, (Midi preferences etc.)
    Then Garageband...
I think what I am trying to say is that this is most probably some functionality that is occuring due to Core Audio Services- not Waveburner- so most probably there is a release note somewhere discussing Sampling Rate Agnostic's. (Actually come to think about it I think it was a new feature of Logic Pro...
    Regards
    Alex
PS: I wouldn't think that it would matter about being in 48 or 44.1- so don't loose sleep over it.

  • ICal Alarm Editing Bug: Time off 4 hours, not fixed yet in 10.5.5?

    Hi again all Mac users,
I have noticed this bug for quite a long while, which I cannot remember from when, but I think it was from around 10.3 or 10.4. I am used to it, and can deal with this since I know it. But, it still seems to persist even after updating to 10.5.5, and I have finally wanted to raise the issue up to this forum, in order to get it fixed, or obtain knowledge on how to fix this in my Mac.
When you double-click or Command+I an event in iCal, the detail of the event shows up, and you click "Edit" button at the bottom to edit it. Most of my events' "Alarm" are set as "Alarm with Sound". To edit this, you click right next to "Alarm" to bring out the pull-down menu. You can change "Alarm with Sound" to "No Alarm", etc. Also, you will see a list of the latest settings you used at the bottom of this pull-down menu, with date, time and sound, etc. to choose from.
    *My Bug Phenotype:*
ALL of the listed settings in this pull-down menu are EXACTLY 4 hours (FOUR HOURS) later of what that actually sets and do. For instance, I set a new event at "2008/6/1 10:00, playing Susumi sound". This setting will newly show up in the for-mentioned pull-down menu. But, because of a bug or by an unknown reason, within the list it shows "2008/6/1 14:00, playing Susumi sound", showing the time 4 hours later. Continuously, if you edit another event's alarm setting, and choose the previous setting of erroneous "2008/6/1 14:00, playing Susumi sound" that shows up from the pull-down menu, the event you're editing will actually be set to "2008/6/1 10:00, playing Susumi sound", which is correct with the very original setting I first used, but then again it is 4 hours ahead of what you see in the pull-down list. Once set, all event will show the proper Alarm time set, and work at the correct timing. It seems that there's a bug just in this pull-down menu showing the previous settings, adding and showing 4 hours later to what it should be, but also correctly stores and set the original time.
Does everybody understand what I tried to explain?
Does anyone else have the same experience?
    Is this just me?
    Is it always 4 hours?
    Any way to fix this?
Is this an iCal Bug, to be fixed?
Thanks for your help in advance!

    Dr.MORO,
    1. Try refreshing the iCal plist file. Navigate to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder, and find the com.apple.iCal.plist file. Drag that file to your desktop, log out/in or restart.
    2. What time do you have set in your iCal Time Zone Window?
    3. Have you tried to change your settings in System Preferences...>International>Formats>(Region:) (Dates) (Times)? Customize... Quit iCal before changing these settings, and repeat #1 above before opening iCal.
    4. Do you have a default time checked in iCal>Preferences...>General>Add a default alarm to all new events and invitations?
    5. Do you have "Turn on time zone support" checked in iCal>Preferences>Advanced?
    6. Do you have the proper "Time Zone" selected in System Preferences...>Date & Time?

Only through AppleCare, but your equipment is probably no longer covered. As far as I know you could still use AppleCare but it would cost an arm and a leg for phone support since you no longer have a contract. Do you have an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Provider nearby?

  • Text editing bug: conflict with Facebook widget

And just when I thought this program couldn't be MORE frustrating. The simplest of text editing features flatly refused to cooperate. Double click, triple click, with the direct selection tool selected. Nope won't select a goddam thing. Turned out to be a conflict with a Facebook widget I had applied on a master page.
    ATTN: bug department!

Thank you so much for replying.
Yes I have removed and reinstalled WMP.
I had good results with the PD6 application installed on the default path onto the C: drive with the one exception that if the application was launched by accident and the user data path was not available, the PD6 application would blow away my custom user path registry settings. Now that I know what they are I have made a .reg file to repair my registry to my desired user data paths.
Installing the application on the removable drive appeared to help prevent me from launching the application by accident and overwriting my registry with default user paths.
So which is the less of the two evils?
If the application directory is not available, windows media player still tries to launch the .msi for installing PD6.
If I install the application to the C: drive but the user data to the removable drive, launching the PD6 application without the user data drive will still corrupt my registry settings for a user data path.
Both these issues seem like a logical (if not easy) fix that should be done in the PD6 application and installation package. I mean really, cannot anyone tell me why windows media player is checking the PD6 application directory? Why in PD4 did we have an option control for setting the user data path from the PD4 application? Why is this option not in the PD6 application, just the installer?
I am given a choice during installation to move the user data to another non default location. Why else would this be provided if not to accommodate my kind of request to store the user data into an alternate location other than “My Document”. Certainly Palm is not trying to force the users on how to protect and store their personal data?

  • Source Sequence to Timeline Editing Bugs?

Hi. I'm new to PP and I've run into a couple of issues when editing from a sequence loaded into the source viewer. (i.e KEM roll style editing) I'm using 7.0.1
First problem - with the timeline set to Insert or Overwrite sequences as nests everything works fine (although i don't really see the purpose of working this way). Mostly you would want to "Insert or Overwrite as individual clips", but when i overwrite a clip the timeline ignores my in and out points which effectively means you can't do a three point edit. There's another strange bug that when you Insert the playhead jumps way off screen instead of staying at the end of the inserted clip.
Second problem - "Replace with clip from Source Monitor" and "Replace with clip from Source Monitor, Match Frame" only replaces with the nested clip, is there no way to replace with the original clip? BTW, would be great if you could map a keyboard shortcut for this command as well?

    Thanks Jim.
