Sample editor / blank screen

Hi,
Just started getting a big white blank screen when opening sample editor.
Open the same audio region 5 times, 4 times blank white screen 5th time - waveform!!
Any clues?
( i tried refresh overview already)

OK, I tracked down the culprit, although I'm not sure if this will help you much.
I ran the fs_usage command from the terminal, ran Logic, opened sample editor, and then poured through the huge text file that was produced. At the moment when I entered the sample editor, there were QuickTime call stalls (which I don't understand) but it gave me a clue.
So, I quit everything, reinstalled QT 7.0.2, reregistered it, and now everything works just fine.
If you're comfortable using terminal, but don't know about fs_usage, you can run it by using:
sudo fs_usage -w > ~/Desktop/myfilename.txt
Then run Logic, open the sample editor, admire the white screen, and close it.
Back to the terminal. Type:
Control-C
Quit everything.
Now open the myfilename.txt file on your desktop. It will be enormous (you thought audio files were big…) and start pouring over the text. You come to the part where you opened the sample editor, and you may find something helpful there. It may not be the same problem as me, but it might be instructive and give you a clue.
This command is very helpful in troubleshooting apps, but the file is (a) enormous and (b) esoteric. This may or may not help, but I thought I'd pass my minor success along to you.
Cheers.

  • I downloaded Firefox to my PC and olny get a blank screen when I click on the Icon, Why?

I only had Internet Explorer on this new( to me) PC and wanted to download FireFox. I downloaded it to my PC and when I click on the Firefox Icon, all I get is a blank screen with a small menu bar at the top left. I DO NOT get the icons that show on the sample input screen at the top right. All I get is the History icon which does nothing when I press it. I deleted the Firefox app from my PC and downloaded it a second time and it does the same thing. My son gave me this used PC, but it did NOT have firefox on it. What do I do now?

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

using credentials, we have Kerberos doing this. Once the user is logged onto the system they navigate to the document they want to view or edit. So the user wants to view a .pdf file, they click the document they want, and it is supposed to open in the default
program associated with file extension. ie: .doc would open Word, .xls would open Excel. When the document is loading in the default program Internet Explorer opens a blank page, this page is supposed to prompt the user if they want to open or save the document.
(I changed the registry to have the files selected to automatically open without this prompt.) The blank screen generated is still staying open, this screen is supposed to close automatically after the prompt or close automatically after the document is opened.
So when a user is looking at several documents, this floods the screen with all these blank Internet Explorer pages. This problem is only occurring for users that have Windows 7 PC's, XP users do not have this problem at all. My PC is the only one in the company
that is Windows 7 64-bit, and working properly with the IE blank page automatically closing. I'm wondering what can be done to fix this problem, is it as simple as registering some .dll files or do I need to make a registry change? Any help would greatly be
    appreciated.

What is the registry change exactly?  Sounds like one which is supposed to avoid the prompt.  I know
that there used to be such a thing, before the new prompt and I know that some users think that there should be such a thing for any program but I'm not sure if that expectation is valid or not.  I think this may also be related to a concurrent change
in the OS.  E.g. in XP we had File Types Options editor but starting in Vista that was removed.  You might get some more clues on this tack from NirSoft's FileTypesMan utility.
The registry change that I did was to remove the open and save prompt. I will be sure to look into that. Our company
isn't worried about the user's automatically opening the files since they are all trusted. They also do not have the ability to install anything, so if they were to download a potentially harmful file they could never install it. We monitor downloads as well,
if they download files off the internet that aren't work related we remove their download capabilities.
Sounds like a scenario for using ProcMon to take two traces and compare them for their essential differences.
I talked to my boss about using this tool and he is worried about using it. I'm only an intern at my office and do not have the authority to use a program without their knowledge or consent. I will run the idea by them again and see if it's okay I use this.
I'll maybe make some presentation about how it can help us with our problem and how much time and money it will save. Because I really want to get down to the bottom of this.
Probably the most significant thing is going to be the Content-type that the files are being served by.
You could use the Developer Tools, Network Capture to check on that and ProcMon could help explain what happens after that.  A related workaround to change the symptom when the Content-type is not what is expected is to disable MIME Sniffing (e.g. in
Security options, Miscellaneous section).  In fact, perhaps that could explain your machine's difference with anyone else?  MIME Sniffing is a default, previously known as "save according to type not extension" (or some such wording).
Okay I will be completely honest I have no idea how to use Developer Tools (F12), yes I could google it, when I tried using it on the blank pages it would never work, I also have no idea what I'm looking at. I should mention that I do not have access to
the web server. Our programming and development side only has access to our AS400, which is where the web server is located. I do have MIME Sniffing enabled and so does everyone else. I may be wrong but, I believe it is needed in order to open the file extension
in the correct default program, yes? I thought MIME Sniffing would see a .docx file and then find the appropriate program to open that .docx file in. I may be wrong but I know it's used somehow along these lines.

  • Blank screen instead of photo

Taken photos with phone which show in album but when I click specific photos or try to send them it's just blank white screen?checked in photo stream and it's white blank screen there too

The following is from a person and not a device generated generic reply.
    1. This is not Adobe, Rather user to user. We are all visitors here.
    2. Your description of "Elements 12" sounds like you are working with Photoshop Elements 12 (photo editor) and not Premiere Elements 12 (video editor). Somehow your thread got posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum. You have posted in the wrong forum. You want the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum. Please see link.
    Photoshop Elements
    3. You can re-post your thread at the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum or wait for a moderator here to see your thread here and move it from here to there.
    4. Be prepared to give more details....are you working from the Elements Organizer 12 and selecting photos from there to edit in the Editor and then send them back to the Elements Organizer or other?

  • Sample Editor toolbox

Hi, I'm hoping someone else might be able to shed some light on this for me. I have Logic Express version 7 and have been learning how to use it. From the learning material I have I noticed that the Solo Tool is visible in the sample editor toolbox. However, in my version of the software its not there. If it is meant to be there how do I add it in? Or if its not meant to be there could someone let me know as then I can at least stop spending time trying to do something I cant do with the version of the software I have.
    Thanks

The reference material I've been using is the Apple Pro Training Series - Logic Pro 7 and Logic Express 7 by Martin Sitter. I've also noticed similar screen shots with the online help files that came with Logic Express 7. I'm coming to the conclusion that these features aren't in LE7. It would be nice if there was some form of documentation just specifically written for both versions of the products. As this would make learning the tools a **** of a lot easier

  • Sample Editor (More color please!)

The 'Sample editor' window in Logic has arguably always been it's weak spot. Unfortunately in Logic 8, it seems to have taken a further step back visually, whilst functionally it's feature set has remained stagnant for some time.
As a 'Pro' application, I would expect Logic's sample editor to compete with the likes of Peak, Recycle, Tools etc. All of these editors share great resolution, great visuals (some color!) and some excellent tools.
I'm hoping future updates (?!!) will address this & the various other issues Logic 8 still has - voice your opinions if you feel the same way...

I thought of an even more simple solution to avoid using Logic's sample editor (Logic programmers - hope you're listening!!) :
If you were able to re-size an audio track in the arrange window to fit the whole screen, you would dispense of the need to open a separate sample editor window (or for that matter, a 3rd party Sample editor).
You could even incorporate an additional menu into the arrange page for the destructive & non-destructive functions of the Sample editor (Time-Machine etc.)
The waveforms are (apparently) sample accurate in the arrange window, so I see no reason why this couldn't work in practice. Certainly it would look better (more colourful), and also offer more continuity between the file, the arrangement, & the time-line...
    Jus' a thought!

  • The Blank Screen & Deleting Posts

I wrote a feedback to a topic and pressed submit and I did get a blank screen afterwards. I tried to reload the page and still the same blank screen. I returned to the topic at hand to see my posting and what ended up happening is double-posting my feedback. I tried to edit the entry to attempt to delete it, but there is no delete option similar to the old discussion board. So, with the new discussion board, how do you delete an entry?

We need the following changes to the post message procedure:
While writing the message (interacting with the message editor), indicate how much time is remaining for us to complete our message or reply.
After clicking Post Message, indicate that the message was or was not posted (success/failure), and navigate back to the original discussion thread (or to the post, if a new tread was started).
After clicking the Post Message button, the new message is successfully posted but the JSP app takes us to a blank page. To navigate to my post, I have to search for it or use My Posts.
The posting feature seems to have a time limit. That is, if it takes me more than a few minutes to write a reply, I have to resubmit my reply by navigating back and clicking Post Message again.
Also, what was wrong with the WebObjects discussion board? Why the JSP boards now?

  • Get a Blank Screen In PB

Does anyone know why when I launch PB I get a blank screen like this one? I am trying to use the Oil Paint feature.

I see the problem in the preview window. The image size that I am working with is 4592 px wide by 3056 px high. When sizing down to 1024x1024 it works fine. If I try and use PB when its 4592x3056 then CS5 just freezes up.

  • Opening Sample editor = White box!

    Hello,
I dont do much audio work, but today I wanted to edit a sample in the sample editor. When I tried to open said editor, a blank white window appeared in its place, with a blue scroll blob on the upper left corner (which does nothing) and the typical 3 window-sizing dots above it.
This is where it gets odd. After this current song is open, opening new templates and/or creating a blank template result in the same blank window when trying to open the sample editor. However, if I quit Logic an THEN create a new project, the sample editor opens fine. It even opens fine in all my autoloads/templates that previously did not work! However, once I got back to this song, this problem occurs again.
Any idea whats causing these issues? What is my best options for rectifying the situation both now (currently in the middle of a project) and in the future? Should rebuild my entire template from scratch? I just recently did this, but may have started off an old template.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Actually, the white window fix and the Quad fix are the one/two reasons I'd consider 7.2.x.
You say you never have white window & dropout problems. With maybe one exception, I've never had the dropout problem (are you referring to SIDS?). The white window thing started when I ramped up my sampler instrument usage dramatically. So my theory, which is mine, which is my theory which is mine (I'm talking about my theory, which, by the way, is mine) is that the graphics display start to go south when Logic is maxing out on RAM.
Or it could be something else, which is another one of my theories.

  • Why does Captivate pdf of lesson open to a blank screen with no content?

Saved and published Captivate elearning as a pdf.  When I opened it on my work computer or sent to others at work work for review, it opened as a full interactive eLearning.  I saved the pdf to a flash drive and copied the pdf to my home computer.  The file shows as the same MB size but opens to a blank screen with no content.  Do I need another version of Acrobat?  I don't have Captivate on my home computer.  I am looking for another job and need to show the learning as a sample of my work.  Help!

I have Acrobat 8 on my Mac Computer and it still doesn't open with content.  I tried installing the Flash player to my computer and still no go.  I sent the pdf to a recruiter with windows and they also didn't open.  I am very frustrated about what to do.

  • New Install - startx results in blank screen with mouse cursor

I installed Arch on my desktop last week with no issues, so I wanted to install it on an old THinkpad R31. Everything with the installation went smooth, but when I try to 'startx' all I get is a blank screen with a mouse cursor that I can move around. I've installed xorg-xinit, xorg-twm, xorg-xclock, and xterm.
I'm not getting any significant errors in the logs, or even the terminal I issue 'startx' in.
I'm not sure what the problem could be...
Here is my output from 'startx'

To run twm, you need to install xorg-twm from [extra] (I am not sure if it installs by default). Do you have xterm installed?
According to his first post he has both xorg-twm and xterm installed.
    I do indeed.
I went ahead and installed LXDE anyways, just to see what would happen. Exact same thing, it looks like everything is about to load but only the mouse cursor shows up. My Xorg.0.log is the same, so I won't post it again.
I do get an error in the console about the openbox menu.xml file missing but I doubt that's related.

  • Apple Cinema 23" on a PC? can't get it to work just has a blank screen?

Sorry this may have been asked a million times but i have a 23" cinema HD display and i'm try to connect it to a laptop PC with the convertor to vga and no matter what i try it has a blank screen with the white power light. I have tried to change the res to the lowest it doesn't work what am i doing wrong please help!!

You can't use a simple VGA to DVI adapter, since VGA doesn't have the digital video signals needed by Apple displays. You need a VGA to DVI converter, such as

  • Tried installing Windows Vista, cancelled install and now it won't boot from the OEM Vista DVD, all i get is BOOTMGR is missing error... Ctrl Alt Del to restart and when i turn the computer on i get a blank screen and pressing C is not working to boot....

    Topic says it all...
My friend started a installation of Windows Vista, but pulled out after deleting all partitions...
So now i power it on, get a blank screen (seems a bit gray because of backlighting, should show the apple logo right?)...
Then after like 15-20sec it will throw out a:
    BOOTMGR is missing
    Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart
I have a OEM Windows Vista DVD in the drive, and i know... Windows 7 is better... but i'm not that fond of stealing software from Microsoft and i have 10 licenses for Vista...
I have tried pressing C while booting up but it doesn't work...
Does anyone here have a magic soloution for me, and no i will not install MacOS on it !!!

Deleting Boot Camp partitions the conventional way will not work . You must use the Boot Camp Assistant to remove a Boot Camp partition. Here is a link to the guide.
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/Boot_Camp_Install-Setup_10.6.pdf
The way to restart is to hold down the option/alt key during startup* and then selecting the Mac OS. If you have a valid Boot Camp install of Windows it would show up during this type of start up.
    * hold down immediately after pressing the power button and until the OS choice screen appears.
    To summarize.
1 Use the above method to boot into Mac OS.
2 Download the instructions and read them.
3 Use Boot Camp Assistant to remove the partition.
4 Pick your friends more carefully.
