Sample editor 'functions' greyed out.

I'm having a problem in Logic 8 whereby all the functions in the sample editor are disabled. I'm pretty new to logic but i'm getting to grips with it, just can't figure out why i can't use any of the functions

They are greyed out because of a possible lack of manual reading....while that's the most likely cause a secondary problem might be not applying basic computer use skills that you already know.
In most every program what must you do to data to be able to edit?
You have to select it... it looks like from the pic you've posted that you have not selected the audio, usually it comes up selected (darker color) when you open the sample editor.
Either drag select the area you wish to work on or use the Apple key in combination with the A key to select all.
This is basic editing, from a long time Logic user...trust me, reading the manuals can provide many benefits... there's always secondary information included along with the info you're looking for. Logic's manual has a large chapter on editing audio in the sample editor. It's a good read.

Hi.
You have imported audio that is in surround format. You can tell by the icon at the end of the file name.
If you actually want it to be surround, I don't have an answer.
If you don't want surround, you would need to convert it to stereo file. Make the track be stereo using the mode switch under the meter (it is currently set to surround), bounce in place again, and you should see the stereo icon instead of the surround.

Logic Sample Editor Functions and Network Home Areas

Hi,
I'm an IT technician at an FE college so do not know much about Logic. We have network home areas (Snow Leopard Server). We have a problem in the music department where students can't access the Sample Editor functions (they are all greyed out apart from Change Gain). Now if I log on as a network user and create a project on the local HD everything is fine. Move that project to my Network Home Area Desktop and the functions are greyed out! I have checked file permissions and the network user has full access to all files in the project in both instances.
Any help much appreciated.

Reset Sample Calculation option greyed out in ECC6 but ok in 4.6c for QAC3

We are upgrading our 4.6C system to SAP ECC 6.0.
We have activated the EA-PLM enhancement package for QM.
When we go to QAC3 transaction code the option of Reset sample calculation is greyed out in ECC 6.0 system but in 4.6C system the option of Reset sample calculation can be used.
Please let me know if there is any configuration for activating the option : Reset Sample Calculation in QAC3.

You can use Transaction VL71.
Because check the following
Goto TCODE SHDB record the TCODE VL02N, Give the any one of the delivery no and select Output from Deliveries and SAVE.
Now process the the recorded Transaction you will get the message -"LEAVE TO TRANSACTION" is not allowed in batch input.-

The copy function under the edit menu is gone (greyed out) and the short-cut, "command + c" doesn't word. I can only copy by using the copy button on the formatting toolbar, which is slow & annoying. All after I ungraded to Maverick. I've tried several different solutions. Any suggestions? I've tried several solutions, but nothing has worked so far...

Generic Object Services ; create attachment function grey out in Tcode KA03

Hi all,
I would like to know how can I enable create attachment function in GOS toolbar in Tcode KA03.
Currently it was grey out.
However, was tried to use the same function in KS03 and it works.Please help. Thanks!

Solution
Implement the attached program corrections
Then go to Transaction SW01 (Business Object Builder), enter BUS1059 as the object type, click Change, and make the following changes:
Navigate to Methods -> RevenueType.Display, press F2 to select it, and go to the 'ABAP' tab page: Select the 'Transaction' radio button, enter the name as KA03, and click 'Save'
Navigate to Attributes -> Attribute properties, select the 'Mandatory' checkbox, and click 'Save'
Then change the release status by navigating as follows:
Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type -> To implemented
Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type -> To released
Then double-click BUS1059 (or select using F2) in SWO1 to reach the 'General' tab page, which should appear as follows:
ObjectType      BUS1059         Revenue element
Object Name      RevenueType

I have downloaded the latest Link software for Mac
I have Mac OSX 10.9
The sync / copy functions are disabled/greyed out.

Jeff,
Unless someone comes up with a better suggestion (it is almost midnight with our forum staff friends), you may consider a reinstallation (uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall).

Server app v3.01 User Accounts password add/reset/editing functions greyed out

I recently upgraded a Lion server to Mavericks with 1500 users and 450 clients on Xserve early2009 2.26Ghz Quad core Xeon 24GB RAM 32 TB Raid.
        All the upgrade went ok through 10.7 to 10.8 to 10.9 apart from having to rekerberise the realm to get users to log in from various 10.7,10.8,10.9x10) clients . I do not use Profile Manager as yet as I have had lots of faults on test networks etc so I continue to use Workgroup Manager 10.9 and Server app v3.01 now that Server Admin Tools has been discontinued.
        I have noticed however that all my users in Accounts/Server App are not editable such as password resets adding and deleting users etc. If you choose Edit User all the information shows but is greyed out for editing etc.
I still use WorkGroup Manager for adding/editing users and changing passwords which still functions(thank goodness).
        Am I missing something in that I cant edit/add users because I upgraded from a previous directory and OS etc? Do I have to accept the server app wont edit/add users and stick with WGM? Or are there serious underlying faults with my open directory?
         There are also lots of quirks in the File Sharing pane with users hanging on after logging out from clients and duplicates of log ins when they log in again. Today I restarted my server to update the Server app to 3.01 and i got a message saying 361 users were logged in although no users were showing in the File Sharing pane for about 12 hours! Obviously there is some problem with the termination of the log out process in AFP that doesnt take place. Since reboot this morning the memory usage has dramatically decreased so I am waiting to see if the errors return when we get a busy network situation later today.
Anyone had tthese problems or fixed the issues?

Just to update my post I referred to the the brilliant Krypted site to see if anything would help my situation and found this post on resetting the Server.app. I havent had time to try this yet but I'd like others to comment if they try it first:

Don’t mind me, you might just be alright. But then again, you might not… And upgrades that use a migration wizard… Um, when it works it’s a thing of beauty. But when it doesn’t, you might be restoring some stuff from backup. But just before you do that restore, let’s try one more thing. Let’s try and rebuild some certificates and configuration settings that shouldn’t impact actual service operation. Let’s try to reset the Server app and let a fresh install of the Server see if it can fix issues.
Now, I want to be clear, this is the last resort before restoration. I’ve had a lot of luck with services remaining functional and preserving settings when I do this, but don’t expect that. Basically, we’re going to do what we looked at doing back in ’09 with AppleSetupDone but one designed just for servers, so the file is in the same place (/var/db) and called .ServerSetupDone. To remove it, close Server app and run the following command:
sudo rm /var/db/.ServerSetupDone
Once removed, open the Server app again and then let the Server app run as though it’s new. Cruft, begone!"

Photoshop CC 2014 3D menu functions greyed out

I can't seem to get 3D options enabled in CC 2014. I'm using a 2012 Macbook Pro Retina with 16gb of ram & a 1GB 650m running 10.9.3 and that well exceeds the system requirements.
I have "Use graphics processor" selected in the performance tab and the 3d tab shows 970mb of available VRAM but all the 3d options are still greyed out, I even used a 3rd party app to force my laptop to run at a non retina resolution and that pushed available VRAM over 1000mb but it didn't help. I've tried restarting the app and computer.
I opened up CC (2013) on the same machine and the 3d options are there and the 3d performance is very good and snappy so I can't see any good reason why adobe would artificially limit the 2012 retina macbook pro to not be able to use the feature at all.

I had the same problem with Photoshop CC 2014. I have on-board video card with shared memory. After I changed the video card RAM to 512 and set the Photoshop Preferences to maximum, the problem was resolved.
I attached a photo to see more details. Hope you will solve the problem soon .

V3000 sleep function grey out

I am using Presario V3000 Notebook, I have recently upgrade the OS to windows 7 64 bit Home Premium, but I found out the sleep and hibernate function has disabled for some reason.
So I look though some articles online, some say it maybe caused by the hardware driver issues, so I went to device manager to check for possible issues:
There are two hardware issue I thought it may caused the problem, then I search for the hardware ID (ACPI/HPQ0006) of "Unknown device" online and it saids its the HP quick launch button, so I guess its not the issue. but I have no idea how to fix the issue for the display adapter

And I have also update the most recent BIOS I can find ( version F.12), and installed the driver for the graphic card at intel's site

Audio midi setup 5.1 function greyed out

seems it has been disabled for use by airport express to stream 5.1 audio by way of pcm ; is there some way to OVERRIDE the default stereo speaker selection so i can use the 5.1 digital output as currently it only plays stereo .....

kinda confusing to me ....that XBMC website is really a nice cross platform fix to wipe the hard drive and create a home theatre media center (htmc) seems i to me i cannot do what i want without going thru a bunch of hoops - i seemingly have a crippled mac pro that cannot play back 5.1 audio music digitally and as another poster suggested i could always buy a third party audio card that i think could be broken in the next os update /new 10.7 (lion) coming later this year ....i'm kinda frustrated because to me audio of any codec should be able to be at least played back on a $3000.00 machine for comparison i have an old windows box running ubuntu 10.0.4 doing very nice analog 5.1 surround sound that computer cost me $200.00 6 years ago; but i digress my amplifier/receiver can play digital audio 5.1 from my stand alone blu-ray player so i know it is not my amplifiers output it all seems to lead back to the macpro...dolby dts -thru imovie is said to work - but all i wanna do is listen to audio thru the digital out put on the back of the machine ........

Not able to increase gain of blue Apple Loop in Sample Editor, even when I bounce in place

As far as I understand things, bouncing in place creates a new audio file that you can alter at will. I have a blue Apple Loop from Logic's library that I want to permanently change the gain on. I can bounce in place but all the functions in the sample editor are greyed out, thus not allowing me to change the gain. The loop is a surround sound loop, I don't know if that matters. It's happened to me in stereo so I don't think so.

Finaly i was able to solve the problem.The other machine was having some firewall blocking the receiver.

Updated to iTunes 11. Now menus greyed out and no music?

After "updating" to iTunes 11 on my MacBook Pro, my music does not show up and all the options are greyed out except Help. Plus, my music does not show up, and it starts with a screen that asks me if I want to see the tutorial. Music is empty, and I had about 2,500 songs in iTunes 10.
Why would it think I'm a new iTunes user? Where is my old Music? Why are all the options/functions greyed-out?
Can someone help me.

Ctrl + / brings back the status bar
Ctrl + s brings back the Side Bar
Ctrl + B brings the Menu Bar back.
Click Ctrl + S. that should pop the side bar up, so you can see your devices. or Ctrl + B and then View - Show Side Bar.
Other handy shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + B it will bring back the column browser

How Can I Change The Sample Editor's Audio Output Channel?

Hey, new to logic, im using a Motu 828mk3 interface,
The Sample Editor is playing out on differnt outputs(1-2)
on my interface than my audio tracks in the arrange window,
my audio tracks are assigned to out 9-10 in the mixer section
which are the Main outputs on my interface, How can I change the
audio output of the Sample Editor to play out of my interface's main outputs(9-10)?

Change the output of the Prelisten mixer channel to the outputs you want it to play from. The prelisten channel is used for the sample editor and the Apple loop previews... you'll find it in your mixer somewhere in the high audio channel numbers...
