  • URGENT: How to debug non-reproducable problem(s) in ADF JSF application?

    This is one of the most anoying things in programing.... We have JSF application developed by JDev 10.1.3 and deployed on AS. It works fine but almost once or twice per day users complain that, say on a certain page (could be any page) they click on a button or a link and nothing happens. Sometimes it looks like the browser is trying to open a page but never does and sometimes the link or a button is dead. I looked into log file under opmn/logs and could not find anything?
    This is very urgent, so please, please if you have any hint on how to approach this problem, let me know. At this time I cannot file the Service Request with Oracle since they would ask me to create sample code and reproduce the problem which is just not possible.
    please help.

    Hi,
    if you are on JDeveloper 10.1.3.0 then chances are that these are concurrency issues. If a user starts a long running query then others may be blocked by this. This is fixed in JSF RI that is contained in JDeveloper 10.1.3.1
    Its just a guess. To prove my assumption, make sure you run the app with a single seat and see if the issue reproduces or exclude queries from the tests.

  • Sample Partner Application in PDK is not getting configured

    Hi,
    I'm trying since the past few days to install and configure the Sample Partner Application from PDK without any success mostly due to the poor documentation provided with it.
    I have followed the instructions given in the install.txt and the other partner app html doc step by step.
    Is there anything else that need to be done other than this?
    And if anyone has successfully installed and configured this sample app then can he/she send me the correct instructions to do so.
    any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Manoj

  • Need a login strategy for JSF application

    I have inherited a JSF application (prototype) and need to modify this application to require a user login. Right now, the application requires a login only for a sub-portion of the application, well after JSF is up and running. That has to change to require the login before the JSF application is invoked.
    Basically, what I want to do is present a standard login form (user name, password, and "submit" button). This information will be sent to "j_security_check" where the servlet engine will validate the user against an LDAP server and then look up some user role information. I have no control over user authentication. Once the user has logged in, the application will be looking at user roles to determine what elements of the JSF application they are permitted to access.
    In addition, I need to be able to detect when the user's session has expired. When this occurs, I need to automatically reroute the user back to the login page. The prototype I inherited currently has all of the JSF backing beans check to see if the Session is still valid before executing any actions. This seems rather tedious and error-prone to me.
    I am not very familiar with security and user authentication issues (somebody else always wrote that part). I think the approach I need to take is: (1) create a login page. (2) create a login error page. (3) create a filter to check to see if the user's session has expired and, if so, re-route the request to the login page.
    My questions:
    1. Is this the best approach? If not , what is a better approach?
    2. Can I use JSF elements for the various login pages, or do I need to use JSP or HTML elements only?
    3. Can you point me to an example or tutorial that explains what I need to do?
    I've looked at a couple of servlet books, a JSF book, and Sun's online Java tutorials, but I don't see anything that looks quite like what I think I need to do here.
    Once I get passed security handling, the rest of the application is all JSF and will be easy to build.
    Thanks for your thoughts, comments, and assistance.

    I have three macs and use one of them as the TM backup destination (that mac has 4 large external disks, I devote one disk at a TM backup for each of the macs) - that mac is also the file server. (I do also use an externally attached HD on one of the other macs as redundancy.) The system works very well and when set up requires no administration, it's automatic! Since the backups are made hourly, I have fresher data than my old system of doing nightly backups using a traditional backup app.
    I even had to do a full restore last week on one of the macs and found the process worked flawlessly, had the mac up and running after the 2 hour restore finished.
    For critical data (business or professional) I also recommend doing occasional boot disk backups using another backup app. I do that with one of my macs. Note: although I have wireless capability with each mac, I use wired Ethernet connections for speed and reliability.

  • How can I test a JSF application?

    Hi all,
    I'm beginner in JSF applications.
    I'd like to know how could I to do a little project using JSF.
    Does anyone send me a link with that steps?
    So, for example, I tried this: http://myfaces.apache.org/risamples.html
    But it does not run!
    I got this error: "HTTP Status 503 - Servlet Faces Servlet is currently unavailable"
    I'd like to config an application with:
    - myfaces-tobago
    - or tomahawk
    But I don't know where I must to place each jar files in order to the application can work fine. That is the big issue:
    Where MUST I to place EACH jar file in order to application does not complain!
    is there any template with a bit project pre-configured?
    I will be very pleased with any help!
    Regards!
    PS:
    I'm using:
    - Eclipse with Exadel plugin
    - Tomcat Tomcat 5.5
    - Windows

    Hi!
    I solved that problems!
    Related the JSF, It was about the correct <managed-property> .
    Now would be only about the following:
    - myfaces-tobago
    - or tomahawk
    thanks anyway

    java.lang.ClassCastException: oracle.jdbc.driver.LogicalConnection incompatible with oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection
    Are the the JDBC JARs packaged with the application? If so, remove the applicaiton packaged JDBC JARs as the JARs are also in WebSphere application server.

  • Error targeting server for the EJB module while deploying the sample banking application

    I am currently having a very difficult time attempting to deploy the
    example banking application that I downloaded from the BEA website. I
    have followed all of the steps in the "Hands On: Deploying the Sample
    Banking Application" document, and I do fine until I get to the next to
    last step. When I attempt to target the server for the EJB module, the
    deployment process generates the error that I have included at the end
    of this message.
    I can get to the login.html page under "http://localhost:7001/banking/",
    but after that I can't go further.
    Any suggestions. BTW, in case you haven't figured it out, I'm brand new
    to BEA WebLogic server.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    The deployment process invokes javac internally to compile some generated classes.
    Do you have javac installed and in the path?

  • Sample Flash applications that can be embedded on DMD

    Does anyone have any sample flash applications that read their configuration data from an external file and that can be embeded in a DMD presentation?
    And MOST IMPORTANTLY with the .fla file?
    The ciscoet.com portal has plenty of samples but they are all stand alone applications no DMD embedding.
    It seems we are all struggling with getting some dynamic content on the Displays things like:
         RSS Reader that does more than just the headline
         Weather Widget
         Image rotator
         Dynamic Table grid reading data from Web Service or XML file
    I've got flash components working on the DMPs if I play them directly but the idea is to use them in the DMD.
    Thanks for any help

    We run a number of flash applications that pull external XML data.
    A limitation in flash does not allow you to play flash apps unless you set up a cross-domain policy XML in your web server root that looks something like this:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    http://www.adobe.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
    This is allowing all domains access to your flash with the use of the wildcard, but you might want to modify it to be more strict.
    Also, if you have a 4310 DMP, you cannot embed flash using HTML. The DMD module that you are using must call the .swf directly. Also, the 4310 supports action script 2 only, not action script 3, so if your flash app is running AS3, it will not work.
    If you have the 4400, you can do anything, including embedding flash files in HTML, and you can also use AS3.
    For other types of Dyanmic HTML content, a 4310 will have a hard time. For any dynamic content that needs to be displayed on a screen, we run background routines that writes data out to image format. The 4310 is perfectly capable of displaying a jpeg.
    Those are the general restrictions we've run into. If you have any specific questions, put them here and I'll let you know if we've run into it before and how we handled it.
    Cheers!

  • JSF Application on WAS 6.1 when migrated from tomcat5.5 not loading

    I'm migration a list of applications from Tomcat to WAS 6.1
    I have a JSF application running on Tomcat 5.5.
    The same application when hosting on websphere application server 6.1(latest service pack applied in 6.1.0.17 ) is not loading properly.
    The application has a login screen that comes when loads. This comes fine in the tomcat server. But in the WAS this not loading. It's not giving any error messages also. What happens in WAS is in the login screen The header section will comes but the login fields ie the user Id and password section won't come.
    I tried deploying the same war file from the Tomcat to the WAS server. Still there is no change.
    Initially my WAS server version was 6.1.0.2, and then I had an issue with JSF servlet and context mappings.
    After applying the fix pack 6.1.0.17 it was fine.
    The application uses the a security filter- form based login in the web.xml
    Is there any difference between the form base authentication between tomcat and websphere ?
    Here is the section of web.xml for form based authentication
    <!--Security filter - form based login -->
    <filter>
    <filter-name>Security Filter</filter-name>
    <filter-class>org.securityfilter.filter.SecurityFilter</filter-class>

    <param-name>config</param-name>

    </init-param>
    <init-param>

    <param-name>loginSubmitPattern</param-name>
    <param-value>login.html</param-value>
    </init-param>
    </filter>
    this is urgent, please help.

    yes i checked the server logs. it didn't give any messages.
    there is no information in the file 'native_stderr.log','SystemOut.log','SystemErr.log','native_stdout.log' files.
    In the production server, i noticed an error message in the SystemOut.log file, it gives the following message.

  • Deploying JSF application on Tomcat 5.0.28

    Hi,
    I am having problems deploying JSF application (developed using Studio Creator) on Tomcat. Any suggessions ....
    HTTP Status 404 - Servlet Faces Servlet is not available....
    Thanks in advance

    I ran into this same problem moving from Tomcat 4.1.31 to Tomcat 5.0.28. This one was definitely a headscratcher, but the solution turned out to be simple as I had an older servlet api jar (2.3) in my J2SE's jre/lib/ext directory. I replaced the existing servlet.api with servlet-api.jar and jsp-api.jar from the Tomcat 5.0.28 common/lib directory, restarted Tomcat, and the problem disappeared.

  • How to include page fragment for JSF application deployed on WebSphere?

    Hi all,
    I have the following urgent JSF problem, I hope that you can support me in solving it;
    - I have JSF application need to be deployed on IBM WebSphere 6.0.1 Application Server.
    - I have the tag:
    <jsp:directive.include file="Actions.jspf"/>
    which includes a page fragment.
    - This is working file with Tomcat 5.5 & Sun Application Server 9, but it didn't work on WebSphere and each time the page fragment contents rendered as text, I mean that the JSF components in the fragment doesn't converted to html controls.
