Sample size calculation for Source Inspection

Dear Gurus,
I have an issue regaring sample size calculation for Source Inspection.
I created a PO for 500 nos.
The sampling procedure assigned in the Quality Plan is %age based (10%).
When Inspection lot is created, system is caluating the Sample size as 500 and not 50.
Moreover, when I go to Result Recording, the Inspection qty for the MIC is shown as 1. If the system is calculating sample size as 500, then the inspection qty for the MIC should also be 500. Moreover, the sample size should be 50 only.
Please provide your inputs on this.

Nitin

  • Sample Size calculation for a Inspection Lot

    Dear SAP Gurus,
I have one doubt regarding Sample calculation for Inspection lot. Please give your inputs on this.
The sceanrio is like this -
    1. A Quality Plan is created with one operation (operation # 0010)
    2. To this operation 0010 in the quality plan, 2 MICs are assigned.
    3. For the 1st MIC, a 100 % inspection sampling procedure is assigned.
    4. For the 1st MIC, a sampling procedure with Percentage sample (Sampling type - 400) is assigned.
My question is - When inspection lot is created after GR from purchase order, which sampling procedure will be used to calculate the Sample size that we see in QA03 under Sample tab?

  • Sample Size Calculation in Quality Management

    Dear QM Experts,
We are facing an issue in sample size calculation when the Inspection Lot Quantity is less than 1 Kg Lets Say for Ex: 0.5 Kg. We are using MICs inside the Plan with suitable Sampling Procedure. The Sampling Procedure has the Following Settings
Sampling Type = Fixed Sample, Valuation Mode = Attributive inspection for Non-Confirming Units, No of Samples = 2
So Whenever the Inspection Lot Quantity is 1 Kg or More than that then Each of the MICs inside the results recording screen has the "Inspect" Column correctly set to 2. However when the inspection Lot Quantity is set to 0.5 Kg, the "Inspect" Column for that MIC is set to "1".
Kindly Provide your suggestions how to handle this ?. Kindly advise if we can avoid this by changes to Inspection Plan or Sampling Procedure. We would like to have the "Sample Size" or the "No of Inspections" to be carried out on a MIC to be Fixed irrespective of the Inspection Lot Quantity.
    Regards
    Ram

    Hi All,
Issue Resolved by Adjusting the Base Unit of Measure against the MICs. SAP Calculates Sample Size by multplying the Sample Size in the Sampling Procedure ( = 2) and the Base Unit of Measure against that MIC (0.5 KG). So SAP Calculates this for each and Every MIC inside that operation and takes the highest number out of that. Therefore the minimum sample Size requirement in the above case was = 0.5 X 2 = 1 KG
If the Inspection Lot is created with a quantity lesser than this then the Inspect Column Showed "1" although the sampling procedure had a sample size of "2". This is because SAP finds that the Inspection Lot quantity and therefore the sample size in the lot is not enough to meet the minimum sample size requirements for that operation. To resolve this issue we modified the Base quantity as 0.1 KG and it resolved our issue

  • Quality Mgt - can I create a new inspection type for source inspection

I want to create a new inspection type for surce inspection and I will assign it to Miscellaneous insp lot origin.
What is the application of vendor inspection lot origin ? Can be used for source inspection ?

    HI,
    For source inspection.
If existing insp types are not going to solve your purpose , you can create insp type & assign it to insp lot origin 01.
But before that , check whether you can use  the existing insp type 01 / 0130.
You need to assign that inspection type in the Q-info record , in the source insp field of insp control.
Also go through the help tips provide by SAP
Inspection Type for Insp. Lot Origin (Source Inspection)
Inspection type for the source inspection
    Use
If you enter an inspection type for inspection lot origin 01 in this  field, you can create an inspection lot for the source inspection within the lead time before the (scheduled) delivery date.
    Dependencies
The inspection type must be active in the inspection setup (Quality Management view) of the material master.
If a status profile is stored in the quality info record for the supply  relationship, a goods receipt inspection takes place instead of a source  inspection.

  • Sample Size Calculation based on the results

    Dear all
I have a scenario as below
for a product the upper and lower specification is given as below
    Upper spec 19.00mm
    Standard  18.00mm
    Lower spec 17.00mm
my client is having ranges as below
    Range 1
    Upper spec 19.0 to 18.75
    Lower spec 17.0 to 17.25
    Range 2
    Upper spec 18.75 to 18.50
    Lower spec 17.25 to 17.50
    Range 3
    Upper spec 18.50 to 18.25
    Lower spec 17.50 to 17.75
    Range 4
    Upper spec 18.25 to 18.00
    Lower spec 17.75 to 18.00
    a) Initially the sample size is 50%. Starts with range 4 .
    b) if consecutive 5 receipts are ok we want to switch to range 3 - sample size 25%.
    c) if consecutive 5 receipts are ok we want to switch to range 2 sample size 10%
    e) and range 1 sample size 5%.
    f) if there is any rejection at any range, then reset to range 4.
    g) if out of specification noticed then the next incoming material will be inspection in the next lowest range. ie in range 1 out of specification noticed shift to range 2 in the next Goods receipt.
I know that Sampling scheme can be used but how to link the specifications in it.
How to link this in SAP QM.
awaiting for your valuable feed back Please.

    Hi Sri,
As per your requirement you have to create 4 MIC as well as 4 DMR follow the below step.
    1. Create MIC1,MIC2,MIC3,MIC4
    2. Create DMR1,DMR2,DMR3,DMR4
    3. Assign the DMR at MIC level.
             a) Go to QP01 In Header data screen choose Dynamic mod. level DMR at character level. (Don't assign any DMR here)

  • Stock posting in block stock after grn for source inspection

    Hi All,
    I have following scenario
I am doing source inspection at vendor site i have maintained control key 0005 in material master & necessary certificate with certificate check required at GRN & UD stage
i am creating a source inspection lot for a release po through t.code qi07 & then processing that lot before GRN
Now when i am doing GRN for same PO it is giving me the following message  stage
<b>A category ZC01(user sp. category) inspected certificate is required</b>
    Message no. QA312
    Diagnosis
An inspected certificate must exist at the first goods receipt for a purchase order item.
    Procedure
Check whether a suitable certificate exists for the purchase order and delivery, and create a certificate record with the status "Certificate checked and stored".
If there is no certificate or no suitable certificate, this does not comply with the requirements in the material master record. If there is no inspection lot for this goods movement, the system posts the quantity to blocked stock or does not post the goods receipt.
If you have created an inspection lot, the system marks the certificate check with the status "In lot". You must confirm the availability of an inspected certificate by the time you make the usage decision.
after doing the GRN stock is being posted to block stock
if i do not process the source inspection lot then the stock is posted to quality stock but this does fulfill the requirement of source inspection
    plz suggest soultion
    It's urgent

    Hello Ashutosh,
In the material master you have defined certificate type with the customizing setting indicator for  'Enhanced Certificate Processing' active.
If you set this indicator, extended certificate processing is active for
this certificate type. You can then manage the inbox for quality
certificates independent of the goods receipt.
The electronic inbox of certificates for the purchase order is only
possible if this indicator is set.
This means you have to create a certificate in QM (Transaction QC51),
before you can update your PO with cert. enclosed.
If you do not want the enhanced certificate processing you have change
    the indicator into inactive.
Another problem known here is if you have activated the 05 Inspection type in the material master, that it is not activated in all plants relevant although QM in Procurement is set in all plants.
I hope that this resolves the described issue.

    Hi,
You can done it with change Material Master.
Enter MM02 t-code, enter your material code and select MRP1 view.
Here maintain Rounding value as 100 in material master.
After when your create purchase order system put quantity as 100, 200, 300 etc.

  • Inspection lot sample size is always = 1

All, I have an scenario I've seen in here but with no correct answer.
    Here is the case:
    (1) material has Buom = LK (link), production uom = M, unit of issue = M
    (2) the Unit of Measure table in the additional Data area is :
    1 LK LINK <=> 1 LK LINK
    3,048 M m <=> 80,000 LK LINK
    1 BOX Box <=> 80 LK LINK
    (3) There is no sample procedure for this mfg item in the routing, so the production order qty should be the inspection lot sample size
    (4) In the QM view of the material master, Buom is LK, Unit of issue = M, and the manual sample entries are not set
    (5) For every production order released, the inspection lots for this material have a sample size of 1 M.  It doesn't matter how big or small the production order qty is, sample size is always 1 M.
All other materials with uom the same in all areas, have the correct sample size equal to the production order qty.
I'm assuming this has to do with uom conversion but I can't find where the problem is.
    (6)  in Cuni, LK is in the AAAADL (no dimensions) option with Numerator and denominator = 1;  M is in the Length option with the same numerator and denominator = 1
Please any help on this will be great.
    Thanks and Regards...

  • How come inspection points with DESTRUCTIVE MICs don't affect sample size?

    Hi guys,
i have a case i tried on IDES and i need an explanation for it if you can.
@ the beginning we have an in-process inspection with inspection points and non-destructive MICs, the interval of 10 mins (of the inspection point) generated 3 inspections, and my sampling procedure led to a sample size of 1 PC, in the inspection lot display the sample size is "1", which is normal and i understand this.
    here comes the problem
we will change one of the MICs and make it destructive. Now we have our 3 inspections. The normal logic says that I'm having 3 inspections and there is on of the MICs DESTRUCTIVE, therefore I'm must get 3 samples, one for each inspection, which means that when we check the sample size in the inspection lot we must get a size of 3, but when i tried this i got a size of 1 again....and this is not logical because my sample will be destructed in the first inspection so how can I carry on the remaining 2 inspections ???
so i need to know how come I'm getting a size of 1 and is that right or wrong ???
i hope i made it clear and wish you can help
    Regards,
    Mahmoud Osama

    Hi Amol,
i'm sorry i don't understand what do you mean by operation confirmation quality  ???
and about stock posting, i know as you said that it is not possible with in-process inspection, as the lot is not stock relevant, but whether it is stock relevant or not has nothing to do with the sample size calculation, my problem is that the logic says that i must get 3 samples because with each inspection i'll destruct my sample, but SAP calculations give only one sample !!!!
i hope you can help with that, thanks for you concern.
    Regards,
    Mahmoud Osama

  • Source inspection - inspection lot skip for certified vendor

    Hii,
I have a requirement in which during source inspection, the inspection lot should not be created if the Vendor is certifed. I have made the following settings:-
    1. In Vendor Master, maintained the Actual QM system in control-reference data.(QM system marked for skip in customizing)
    2. In Material Master-
        - Activated QM Proc- QM control Key -Delivery release
        - Target QM system
        - Inspection type for source inspection activated in inspection set up
3.In Quality Info Record for Vendor,Material,Plant combination-in Inspection Control tab-
        - Maintained the existing QM system & validity
        - Selected 'No Inspection' in Insp. control
In Vendor source inspection tab maintained the inspection type & lead time.
Inspite of the above settings, I can see this PO (for vendor, material, plant) in the source inspection worklist(QI07).
Please suggest as to which setting I might be missing.

    Then execute the transaction .
Select line item click oninsp lot & save.
Where you have trigger lot for the same then only lot will get genarated.

    Hi adi,
As per your statement Tick is active for source insption no GR , in that case lot will not create at the time of GR.
If you want lot to be created at the time of GR then you have to remove the above tick as well as in inspection control tab you have to maintain inspection active status then only lot will generate

  • Changing sample size of PCMA audio sample

    Hi All,
I want to transmit the microphone input audio using PCMA codec. I know that the sample rate for PCMA (or g.711) is 8Khz and sample size is 16 bits.
Is there any way I can change the sample size to 8 bits? Appreciate your help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
As you can only reset the sample calculation under certain conditions, the system first checks whether the status of the inspection lot will allow you to execute this function.
    Prerequisites-
You can only reset the sample calculation for an inspection lot if you have not:
    - Marked the inspection lot for cancellation
    - Recorded inspection results for the inspection lot
    - Recorded defects for the inspection lot
    - Made a usage decision for the inspection lot
When you reset a sample calculation, the system:
    - Displays information about the activities that have been processed for the inspection lot (for example, sample-drawing instruction was printed, inspection scope for the inspection lot was dynamically modified, physical samples were created, and so on)
    - Sets the inspection lot status that existed before the sample size was calculated
You choose Logistics -> Quality management -> Quality inspection -> Inspection lot processing -> Inspection lot -> Reset sample.
You then call up the desired inspection lot and save the data to reset the sample calculation.
    Regards,
    Narayana.
