Sample Video to play with in FCE

Hello Everyone
I was wondering if there was any sample videos to play with on either FCE 3.5 or 4.0 Install DVD's. I bought FCE to do photo slide shows, but now I would like to start playing with video. The only problem I am running into is the fact that I do not have a video camera at this point, so I would like to find some sample material to play with until I can buy one.
Thanks
Bill

.. no, no sample videos on installer disks..
but..
if you own QuicktimePro, you can download any movie trailer from Apple's Quicktime site..

or from the Movie Trailers ...

  • Can one video track play with 9 different audio tracks?

    If we create a dvd with a 20 mins voiceover video in 6 chapters, but there were 9 language versions inc English, could we use the same video track, playing with a different audio track for each language, to save space?

    Almost. You have have 8 audio streams (AS) so you'd need to have 2 tracks and split the audio across them. So you could have Track 1 8x AS and Track 2 1x AS. T1 5x AS & T2 4x AS. You get the idea...
    You dont need 1 Track per Track but you will need at least two. Keep an eye on your total bandwith for each track also. Remember to budget for the audio before you encode,

  • Embed Videos not played with FP 10 and 11

    Hi,
    Can't watch embed videos in the latest FP versions 10 and 11, before I had no problems, running on W7 and IE9.
    For example: if i'm on facebook (just to mention) and I click on any video I can hear them, but video goes black with some flashes of the vid itself.  If I go to youtube (just to mention) I can watch and see that same video.
    The only thing I have done to my PC is upgrade FP.
    I have tried everything that adobe suggests before coming here.
    Thank you,

    Hi,
    I have tried udating graphic driver and everything that adobe suggested, no drived update found.
    I have this problem from the moment I updated FP.

  • I use "swap a cd" which gives music samples with an "mp3 widget". Samples don't play with firefox. What can I do?

    I have firefox 3.6.1.This is the url of the popup window that is unable to play the music sample: http://www.swapacd.com/cd/mp3_widget.php?da=B002VXD3O4

    You are using an old Flash 10.0 r45 version that is probably the cause of your problem. It works for me with the current Flash 10.1 r85 version.
    Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.

  • I cannot watch You tube. I get a black box where the video should play with no bar underneath to

    Please I don't know how to deal with this as I'm not at all technically minded. I have Windows Vista Business 32 bit operating system. I cannot watch Youtube since earlyier today, I just get the full page but no bar underneath the video screen which is just a black box now. I am using Windows internet explorer and recently downloaded latest Adobe Flashplayer for Windows Vista. I do not know any other technical information but depend a lot on Youtube as I am semi-housebound and don;t watch tv - just old tv shows. Thank you and please help me with this, as I feel lost without Youtube. I have http://WIN 10,2,152,26 Flash Player ( think the http/  isn't relevant it just appeared)

    It's an Adobe 10.2 issue. All that is being said is "turn hardware acceleration off". Well 1) that doesn't work, and 2) what's the po
    int of having it if it doesn't work?
    Gramaqueen, I have the same problem, and it will only be fixed when Adobe fixes this issue
    Good luck.

  • Android / IOS Record Video and play with it ?

    Is it possible to record video in Air 2.6 to mobile ?
    I know I can getCamera... but after it, can I record ?
    My goal is to make App that record video with the camera and push effect on it.
    Tank you!

    You can definitely record video on both and have the data at your disposal.  As far as I know you cannot select a video from the "video roll" though so you will have to edit only the video you just recorded:
    private var cameraRoll:CameraRoll = new CameraRoll();
    private var dataSource:IDataInput;
            private var eventSource:IEventDispatcher;
    vid_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, openVideo);
    private function openVideo(evt:MouseEvent):void{
    deviceCameraApp = new CameraUI();
    if( CameraUI.isSupported )
                    log( "Initializing camera..." );
                    deviceCameraApp.addEventListener( MediaEvent.COMPLETE, videoSelected );
                    deviceCameraApp.addEventListener( Event.CANCEL, captureCanceled );
                    deviceCameraApp.addEventListener( ErrorEvent.ERROR, cameraError );
                    deviceCameraApp.launch( MediaType.VIDEO );   //Changing this to IMAGE will make it take a picture
                   else
                    log( "Camera interface is not supported.");
    private function videoSelected( event:MediaEvent ):void
                log( "Media selected..." );
                var videoPromise:MediaPromise = event.data;
                dataSource = videoPromise.open();
                if( videoPromise.isAsync )
                    log( "Asynchronous media promise." );
                    eventSource = dataSource as IEventDispatcher;
                    log( eventSource );
                    eventSource.addEventListener( Event.COMPLETE, onVideoDataComplete );
    **At this point, when the onVideoDataComplete function fires, you will have access to the bytes of the movie:
    private function onVideoDataComplete(evt:Event):void
                var videoBytes:ByteArray = new ByteArray();
                dataSource.readBytes( imageBytes );
                //the rest of this is just testing what we actually read
                log(videoBytes.length);
                videoBytes.position = 0;
                var string:String = videoBytes.readUTFBytes( 300 );
                log( string );
    **You can then do whatever you want with the bytes, such as save it to your local storage directory as a .mp4 and load it into flash
    Does that help?

  • Adobe AIR Android + MediaPlayer: Video Plays with no Audio

    I am trying to play a video in my Adobe AIR Android App. I can't seem to get the video to play with audio in the application. I can get the audio to play in the native players on both my Samsung Galay and my Asus Transformer outside of my app, but when I load the video using StageVideo, the audio doesn't play at all.
    I tried just launching the video into the navtive browser or using StageWebView but that doesn't work either.
    I am a bit at a loss and need some advice.
    Here's the code below.
    MediaPlayerExample:
    var resource:URLResource = new URLResource(videoPath);
    container = new MediaContainer();
    addChild(container);
    container.y = this.headerHeight;
    videoElement =  new VideoElement(resource);
    videoElement.smoothing = true;
    container.addMediaElement(videoElement);
    container.width = this.stage.stageWidth;
    container.height = this.stage.stageHeight;
    mediaPlayer = new MediaPlayer();
    mediaPlayer.media = videoElement;
    mediaPlayer.addEventListener(TimeEvent.CURRENT_TIME_CHANGE, this._onProgress);
    this.videoHeader = new VideoHeader(this.stage.stageWidth);
    this.addChild(this.videoHeader);
    Any help would be great!

    Quicktime or Quicktime Pro (both of which iTunes uses) does not convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.
    See:iPod plays video but not audio.
    You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
    See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).

  • Where can I get some sample videos?

    I've got my brand new Mac Book and Final Cut Express! My camera won't be here for another week! Anyone have a good place to go find some sample videos to play around with whilst I'm waiting for the camera to get here???

    I think you'd be very wise to invest in an instructional book ($25-30 US on Amazon) which will have lots of footage on an included DVD. Two excellent choices are Final Cut Express Editing Workshop by Tom Wolsky (frequent contributor to this forum) and Apple Pro Training Series: Final Cut Express by Diana Weynand.

  • Media Engine (Media Foundation) sample WP8 app decodes sample video incorrectly

    The
    Media Engine sample  compiles fine on my machine and I can run it on my phone, but I can't get it to play any video correctly. Specifically, the video that is being drawn every frame is wrong.  I'll try and attach a screenshot to show what it
    looks like, but if you can picture a bunch of blocks that have a distorted piece of the original video, that's it. The sound plays just fine. What in the world could be causing this?  (The video is the sample video that comes with the code... a dog drinking
    from a pool.)
    I've even tried to recreate the sample using the
    walkthrough but I get the same result.  I have taken the sample and removed the MediaEngine and tried just drawing a static texture to see if there was some hidden code screwing up the shaders, but it worked fine...
    so something is wrong with Media Foundation.  Is it possible I have a library that is not working correctly?  I'm using VS2013 (Pro) with all the latest updates.

    I get the same result (and exceptions running in the debugger) on my HTC 8X.  I will investigate further and update this forum post when I know more!

  • I can't get video to play at all on MAC!

    I just recently purchased and downloaded Premiere Elements 12 for a class.  My project deadline is fast approaching and I can't get any videos to play with either the toggle bar (space bar) or by using the VCR like buttons.  I am using the "Classroom in a Book" tutorials AND trying to start a new project with my videos and this issue is occuring in both. I am able to select the video and place it on the timeline and pull the cursor left and right with NO SOUND.... I can also do this in the preview mode...BUT IT WILL NOT PLAY ON ITS OWN..... please advise....  I have a brand new MAC that we purchased in November, therefore I have all the updates.
    Thank you in advance for your time with this request.

    Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements Mac?
    Administrative Privileges are required for both Premiere Elements and QuickTime. Are you Mac computer permissions set appropriately for this?
    What are the properties of this video...
    video compression
    audio compression
    frame size
    frame rate
    interlaced or progressive
    file extension
    pixel aspect ratio
    Is the problem only with this one particular video source or is the problem for all video and still imports?
    Let us start here and then decide what next.
    Thank you.

  • How o get nusic and video to play on same playlist

    I was wondering if there is a way to get music and either music videos or movies to play in the same play list. I can get the audio of the music videos to play with the music, but not the actual video, any suggestion? Thanks.

    All you have to do is, make normal playlists (the same way you normally would) including your music and the video you want in the lists with the music. Then when you go to use your ipod, instead of choosing music, instead choose the video and section - and any playlists that have video included with them will show up under video>video playlists. If there is no video included in the play list however, it wont show up under the video section.

  • Ingested videos not playing in stereo with Quicktime or after exporting with compressor

    Why does it seem like every time I try to do something just mildly complex I'm stymied by some bug or problem with the software?
    Here's the deal:
    0) I have footage was shot with a stereo camcorder, a JVC GR-DV3000 (circa 2003), with built-in stereo mics.
    1) I ingest the footage from the Mini DV tape and save it to a camera archive using Final Cut Pro X (latest version).
    2) I use Final Cut Pro to pull the events out of archive.
    3) When the events are played from within Final Cut Pro X, I hear strereo and audio meters indicate the audio is in stereo (left and right channels have different volume levels).
    4) When the events are played with the open source software, VLC, I hear stereo, too.
    5) When I export the files for playing on an Apple device using Final Cut Pro, the audio is in stereo as you would expect.
    BUT:
    5) When I play the event clips with QuickTime from my hard drive after step 2 above, I get no audio from the right channel. Weird, right?
    But most annoying of all:
    6) When I use Compressor 4 (instead of Final Cut) to output the event clips to "SD for Apple Devices" using the default audio settings, I get no audio from the right channel, either.
    7) I've got hundreds, if not thousands, of clips. I'm not about to save each clip manually with FCPX. I need to batch convert these files with Compressor.
    8) I've tried various combinations of the audio import settings ("Analyze and fix audio problems," "Separate mono and group stereo audio," and "Remove silent channels." These options have not solved the issue for me. The clips still play in mono in QuickTime.
    When I look at the properties of the file in QuickTime, here's what it shows:
    DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, 720 x 480 (640 x 480)
    Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 32000 Hz, Left

    Why it's telling me the other 3 channels are unused, I have no idea. As I mentioned, the footage was shot in stereo and even Final Cut plays it in stereo.
    Here's what VLC says about the very same file:
    Stream 0:
    Type: Audio
    Codec:PCM S16 LE (sowt)
    Channels: Mono
    Sample Rate: 32000 Hz
    Bits per sample: 16
    Stream 1:
    Type: Audio

    Bitrate: 512 kb/s
    Stream 3:
    Type: Audio
    Codec:PCM S16 LE (sowt)
    Channels: 1
    Sample Rate: 32000 Hz
    Bitrate: 512 kb/s
    Stream 4:

    If anyone can point in the right direction, I'd much appreciate it.

    I ended up just using iMovie to capture video from the camera. The clips now play in stereo in QuickTime perfectly.
    It's interesting to note that iMovie saves the clips as .dv file types, not .mov file types like FCPX does.
    And it turns out the iMovie capture is *much* smoother. It actually "just works." Ingesting tapes with FCPX, I had to cross my fingers, spin on my head and pray three times to a statue of Steve Jobs before it would work (and even then it would do weird stuff).
    The only downside of using iMovie is that it doesn't have the camera archive feature.
    I really don't understand why, with $120 billion in the bank, Apple seems to be churning out software as an afterthought. No, software is not where they make their money, but they are ruining their reputation. Ah, well, first world problems.

  • I have an old mpg video file, taken with a very early model "smart phone", that opens and plays fine in my newly "rebuilt" iPhoto library. I cannot open, edit it or share it with any other software. How can I fix it, to be able to do anything with it?

    Detail:
    I've recently purchaced a 4TB Thunderbolt drive to store my "vast" music and photo libraries. iPhoto had an issue reading the moved library, so I bought and used iPhoto Library Manager to "rebuild" it. Apart from much of the original data such as date taken & camera used etc, it appears to be working well. The aforementioned mpg video was taken some 9 years ago, using an early model "iMate" smart phone, and opens and plays fine on iPhoto, but I cannot open it with anything else, (I've tried iMovie, VLC players, Wondershare and Handbrake) nor can I share it. I just want to edit it, and share it with family.
    Any help would be appreciated...

    No - not iMovie, VLC, Wondershare or Handbrake... Quick time starts with a "CONVERTING", then I get
    I've looked at the "tell me more" links, tried downloading some of the movie players there. I'm begining to think the file is corrupt.
    Thanks for getting back to me again though - appreciate it...

  • Videos will no longer play with firefox but will still play with explorer. I reinstalled flash player. tried resetting nothing seems to help

    I have tried everything I know and nothing has worked. Yesterday everything was fine and today I can't get videos to play. I have tried Youtube and various news sites as well as Yahoo news. All I get is a blank screen. I tried it with Internet Explorer and all work. Anyone have any ideas?

    There are a number of active threads concerning the latest Flash player plugin (11.3) and the latest Firefox (13). Not all users are experiencing the same issues, but things to check include the following:
    - Conflict with Realplayer Browser Record plugin (to disable this, open Add-ons from the orange Firefox button or the classic Tools menu and look under the Extensions and Plugins categories)
    - Conflict with Flash 11.3 Protected Mode (see [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0 Adobe Forums: How do I disable Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?])
    Scanning down the front of the forums probably will yield additional suggestions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions
    Please post back with your results.

    The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
    Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
    However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
    Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
    I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.
