Samson Q1U USB Mic won't work in Logic

Hey there,
My Samson Q1U Mic (USB) will not show as an available I/O in Logic.
It is selected in my Audio/Midi Preferences under Utilities, as well as under System Preferences in Sound Input, as well - it works in Garage Band - however, it does not show as an available device in Logic??
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to enable my snowball usb mic using the following procedure. I had logic studio open at the time, but I don't think it is necessary. In fact, you should probably do these steps (including above) before opening logic. By the way, I had never heard the term "aggregate device" before yesterday!
1. Mic was plugged in, powered up, and was working in SYSTEM PREFERENCES/ SOUND/ Input. I highlighted the mic and it was registering sound.
2. Go to UTILITIES/ audio midi setup. After window opens, go to the very top of the screen (menu options for audio midi setup) and click AUDIO which allows you to then open AGGREGATE DEVICE EDITOR.
3.Hit + to add new aggregate device. Select a check by built-in input, built in output, and your mic. Set the clock for built in output, not the mic. Save changes and exit/ close audio midi setup.
4.*Restart the computer.*
5.I left the mic plugged in I think during the restart, but I may have plugged it back in after restart. I again made sure it was working in apple system preferences.
6.Open logic. Select preferences/audio. The AGGREGATE DEVICE should now be available as an input option. Select and save changes.
7.Go back to your project. Your mic should work on an audio track. I didn't have to do anything to the track input selector- it just worked and it has worked consistently even though I have disconnected and reconnected several times!
SUCCESS!!

Not sure why such a great program would not have a simpler option for using a usb mic.

Hi Terry - just guessing but are you trying to record while the movie is playing? It won't do that. You must record while the play-back is stationary.

  • USB Headset won't work along with Audi

First off, when searching for this problem, I saw many posts explaining why USB headsets won't work with a soundcard cause they basically have one built in to them. I understand this.
    This is not my problem.
    This is my problem:
I have a Plantronics Gamecom Pro USB headset that worked great when I was using onboard sound. It would automatically intercept the first sound signal it could pick up. So if I plugged it in first, before starting a game, the headset would pick up all sound from the game.. nothing to my external speakers.
If I started the game first with the headset unplugged, then plugged them in then started Ventrillo, then the headset would pick up the Ventrilo sound but the game sound still came from my speakers. Perfect set-up.
However, after adding an Audigy 4, the headset no longer works at all. No sound, no mic.. I plugged the headset ito my laptop and it works fine so I am pretty sure it's some sort of conflict with the Audigy 4.
I'm not too much of a techy but I'm thinking perhaps the Audigy 4 keeps a lock on the sound signal somehow, not letting the headset pick it up on the USb port?
Does anyone else have a problem using a USB headset not WITH but ALONG SIDE an Audigy?Message Edited by CroakerJoe on 0-2-2006 03:55 PM

I have the same usb headset and am having the same issue with my pc. I am running the X-fi Platinum. The plantronics are supposed to be a plug and play, but when i plug it in, the headset is getting power, is recognized by the pc and other applications, but will not play any sounds at all, and it works on my other machine with an older card. It seems to be overridden by the new card. when i was running the old audigy i could use one or the other (not both at the same time) which is to be expected with this type of headset, but i did not expect the new card to totally not allow the head set to work at all. This is causing me trouble as i use my rig for alot of gaming and LAN parties. Speakers are often not allowed, and the plantronics gamecom pro headset is a sweet set for gaming. If anyone sees this and can provide a fix. I would greatly appreciate it.

my mic won't work on my webcam? HELP!

OK, well you could try the "Macam" driver from here:
    http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/
...it supports lots of webcams - including some generic no-name ones from Staples!
Also: does the webcam ONLY have a USB cable? No 3.5mm minijack plug as well?
    What application are you trying?
If Skype... under the Skype Preferences menu, audio-visual tab: are there any choices on the microphone drop-down menu?
Under the Apple Menu: System Preferences: Sound - Input - are there any choices shown?

  • My Headset mic won't work.

Hello Apple Support! As it is in the title my headset mic won't work, and I just bought them today . My headset is: Microsoft LifeChat lx-2000 (yes it is compatible with mac)
    Image
Already done: Went to system preferences====> Sound ===> Input (did not see it in the input but in only in the output)
Plugged the mic plug in the Symbole like so=> >O< (2 arrows pointing left and right and a circle in the center).
    Please help me!

Uhhh, sadly they don't tell you which Macs it works on, seems only the older ones, this from the PDF...
    For a Macintosh PC:
    • Mac OS X v10.1-10.5.x
    • Analog audio input/output ports

  • My mic won't work on any applications. What do I do?

Ok. So whenever I skype call someone, My mic won't work! So I have to type in the skype chat while they talk. Kind of embarrising. Also, I need to make some screen and audio recordings on QuickTime Player. So I try to talk. Play back the audio recording. And no sounds! How do I get my mic to work?
Info on my computer: I run on Mac OSX Mountain Lion.

So do you have your internal microphone set as the input? Go to System Preferences > Sound > Input
And on Skype > Preferences, is this what you have set in Audio:

Will my USB Mic "Shure PG27" work on iOS aswell as it does on Mac OS X ?

Thanks, good to know - also I found out that USB devices don't work in general on ioS only because they work on Mac X. Though ioS is derived from X it has a different processor architecture.

  • Apple Remote won't work with Logic

I bought a new iMac (3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) and the Apple Remote won't work with Logic 8. It worked fine on my MacBook Pro.

jazzmaniac, I did something by holding down two buttons on the remote for a few seconds. I guess that is called registering. But when I try to play a song file in Logic, Front Row pops up instead.
I've searched the Internet and am finding little on this topic.

  • Samson C01U usb mic/low input level

I recently bought a Samson C01U usb condenser mic to use with Garageband to record voice and piano for my music studio. When I plug it in, it is recognized in system preferences/Sound. But when I try to record in Garageband, the input level monitor barely responds. I've selected Mono 1, as advised by tech support at Samson. I can't figure out why this mic isn't working, since it's recommended for this exact purpose. I don't think I should need a pre amp, but now am wondering if I do. I'd be so grateful for any advice.
    KM

You know, the Samson C01U worked ok with the SoftPre software from Samsontech under Tiger. The input levels could be bumped up sufficiently for the **** thing to actually work even if the input signal was still on the low side.
Since SoftPre doesn't work with Leopard, the C01U is basically an expensive paperweight.
Since Samsontech seem incapable of getting their act together in putting out an operational Leopard compatible SoftPre software release, my advice to the wider Mac community is to BOYCOTT THEM! If Samsontech aren't receptive to consumer needs and flexible enough to act accordingly when the OS is updated, they deserve to suffer the commercial consequences - period!
I'm looking forward to the liberating ritual of taking a giant sledgehammer and obliterating my now useless, overpriced Samson C01U. It's going to be awesome !

  • Samson cu01 usb mic

Help! I cant seem to get my cu01 to work with logic express I have tried most everthing, including the advice samson gives on their site. when I select the cu01 in the audio hardware and play logic I dont get any input from the mic, as well, I get a midi audio sync error. and nautrally no output, if I switch back to the built in audio driver everything works fine but still no mic level. any ideas
    1.8ghz power pc   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

A search in this forum with "Samson CU01 USB" bring this:
    (from a previous post)
"Using the Samson C01U with Apple Logic (Mac OS X)
This is the process of setting up the CO1U to work in Logic. This will only work in OSX 10.4 or later.
10.3 and earlier versions don’t have this facility.
Open Audio MIDI Setup (from the Applications/Utilities folder)
Go to the Audio Menu - Open Aggregate Device Editor ⇧⌘A
Click on the + button to create a new device
It's a good idea to rename it (double click on Aggregate Device in the list and enter the new name eg. CO1U)
The list at the bottom of the window will show all the audio devices connected to the computer. Select the ones you want the device to use by checking the “use” button. For instance, if you only have a CO1U connected you will need to check CO1U and Built-in Audio. Check the clock button on one of the devices, not the CO1U.
    Click Done
And that’s it. The device will then appear in Logic under Audio Hardware and Drivers as an available I/O."
C'mon guys, before posting, try to make a search before!

  • Premiere CC 2014 and Samson C01U USB mic

Hi, I have a problem with a samson C01U USB microphone because premiere cc 2014 doesn't recognize it in the hardware section (mac version). It's curious because Audition recognizes it perfectly and it works ok. Any solution? Thanks

Using USB mics in Pr on OS X can be... challenging.  Run the Audio Midi Setup utility (part of OS X) and create a new Aggregate Device.  In said, add the USB mic as the "input", along with whatever output device you're using (Line Out, Built-In, etc) as the output.
Back to Pr in the Audio Hardware config, choose that new Aggregate Device as your sound device.  Since you put both the mic and your output devices into it, you'll be able to use that as an input and output device.
Finally, you're going to want to create a new audio track that's mono-only.  Use that track to record from the mic.
That should do the trick for you.

  • Samson C01U USB mic/audio recording software.

whats small, free, and reliable audio recording software? on Mac OS X.10.4.5
On XP I like adobe audition, and cool edit pro2
Im having hard time getting Samson C01U USB Studio Condenser Mic to record on my emac ,on audacity
    http://www.samsontech.com/

Cubase LE is good, but Garageband, part of the iLife 06 suite is nice. I recorded a vocal trio to backing tracks and mixed it down to CD using only the effects provided in the program.
Like any software recording system, the more effects you add the more processing power you're using up, but garageband works real well.
I used the Presonus Firepod as an interface, worked fine. Any interface box will work.
If you're only doing a single audio input for a podcast, then Quicktime pro is good. It's not free, but for 30+ bucks it's worth the investment.
    I've used a piece of Shareware.... D-SoundPro
you can google search it. Nice stand alone piece of software, does some amazing things with audio for a shareware product.
    Hope this helps.

  • USB Mic no longer works with Skype after 7.1 updat...

Using a USB headset with skype, worked with previous versions, works with other programs. I can hear people talk but they can't hear me! Skype detects the mic just fine but when I talk nobody can hear me.
I have tried updating drivers, re-installing skype, I have tried deleting my profile/preferences from the skype folder on my PC and starting from scratch, tried restarting my computer, re-installing my headset drivers, and tried restarting or re-plugging in my mic. Nothing works. Skype simply doesn't use my mic properly in the new version, previous versions did not have this problem, as I said mic works fine in all other programs.

Hi pa.elimination, Can you please reproduce the issue and provide logs as described in this link https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12321/how-do-i-create-log-files under Skype for Windows Desktop and attach it to your post?
This will help us investigate and solve the problem you are experiencing.
Can you also try with the 7.0 version to see if that version solves your issue?

  • USB Mic won't show up in Drivers Menu

I just bought an Audio Technica 2020 USB microphone, and I can't get it to work with Logic Pro 7.2.3.
When I open up the audio/midi setup it is listed there, and it works with other programs, but it doesn't show up in the Driver drop-down list on the Drivers tab in Audio Preferences in Logic Pro.
I even tried setting up various aggregate devices, but none of these show up in Logic Pro. The only 2 things that show up are Built-in Input and Built-in Mic.
I've tried restarting Logic, restarting the computer, and nothing seems to help.
Does it make a difference if this is the academic version?
    Please someone help!!!
    Thanks,
    Justin

In the Audio / Midi settings under the Audio menu, create an aggregate device one for the usb mic and one for the output. Then in your Logic pro settings in the core audio set the aggregate device as the default device.
Well that works LP 8 w/10.5.3
