Samsung 55" LCD TV drastic lean to left

I have a LN55B650 that was purchased on 7/3/2009 and delivered a few days later. The telivision sets in our built in entertainment center and replaces a Sony 48" Projection. When the television was delivered I noticed it was slightly off but by the time we got close to our 30 day window the TV was out of plumb about 3/4". We called for service and assumed there would be an adjustment but was tald they would need to replace the TV. The TV was replaced and the replacement looked much better. It has now been 2 weeks and it is leaning worse than the original. I have check this with a Plumb-bob and it is a full inch out from the top corner to the bottom from left to right and it is also leaning to the front about 1/2". In both cases the TV is leaning to the left and toward the front. The Geek squad is coming out tomorrow again but I believe this is a design issue and that the included base is not substantial enough to support this TV. I have seen a couple of 46" units that look fine. Is anyone else having this issue or does everyone mount these to the wall? I have not seen this reported on any of the boards but it looks really bad regardless how well the picture looks.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

I have to commend the Grapevine, TX store and especially Geoff, Kenneth, Jonathan, Sara, and Holly for there help in resolving my issue.  The solution was a little outside the box which made things complex so it took the effort of several folks.  I have never had a issue that wasn't resolved and hope to continue that experience with Bestbuy.  The bottom line is they understood the problem and the resolution was to replace the TV with another model.  I actually went with a Sony, probably should have done that to start but wanted to save a few bucks.
I am very satisfied with the solution and plan to spread the good word.
Another very satisfied customer!

  • MacBook connecting with VGA to Samsung 40" LCD TV -- picture is offset

I just plugged my MacBook into a Samsung 40" LCD TV with a VGA cable and a mini-DVI/VGA adapter. The picture looks crisp and great on the TV at 1360x768, except for one major problem -- on the TV, the whole screen is shifted to the right by maybe 200 pixels, so that there's a black bar on the left and the rightmost stuff (like the spotlight icon and the time) gets cut off.
This happens with mirroring on and off, and the laptop screen displays normally.
Anyone encounter this before and know how to fix it? If not, might switching to a DVI-to-HDMI connection work better?

Does your TV have an auto adjust menu option, like regular LCD monitors? If not have you tried turning the TV off and then back on while the MacBook is connected? Under your System Prefs, does it detect and list the Samsung LCD? Have you tried clicking the "Detect Displays" button while everything is hooked up?
PS I run DVI out on my Mac Mini to my Samsung DLP TV. DVI seems to be a sharper picture than the few times I used the VGA input.

  • MacMini, Pioneer  VSX-23TXH reciever, Samsung 52A LCD

I have the configuration mentioned in the topic. Everything is working fine, video and audio. The only problem I have is that the desktop, when displayed on the Samsung 52" LCD, is a little bit to far to the left. In other words, there is about a 1/2 inch black on the right side of the display and on the left, the desktop is cut of in such a wa that you can only see about half of the apple in the the Menu bar. I have a several resolutions available and have tried them all. The best display I get is when 1344x765 60Hz, Overscan is selected. With in the Samsung Monitor menus I have it set "Just Scan" under the Mode heading. You can move the desktop four ways but it doesn't go all the way to the right...and you still have a "half apple" showing...but now a 1/4" black stripe down the left side of the screen.
If someone is using this configuration adnhas figured out to get a goo display, I would appreciate it. I did have a Yamaha receiver before and it all appeared fine...until it's HDMI ports went bad.
    Thanks

  • Small vertical lines when connecting macbook to a Samsung 37" LCD via HDMI

    Hi
Just connected my macbook to a Samsung 37" LCD thru the HDMI port. Works a treat bar one issue...on non-moving images, colours which aren't whites or blacks, namely brighter colours, there appear small vertical lines. These seem to appear around the areas where there is a substantial difference between 2 colours (example the outline of a face against a lighter or darker background).
Tried all the obvious things such as calibration, different resolutions etc but cant get rid of them...they dont seem to be there with moving images though and certainly not on mainly white displays such a the Google homepage for example............Any thoughts?
    Much obliged

i have a samsung 52 inch tv and i have hooked up the vga connector to my pc input on my tv and went to pc input on the screen. all i keep getting when i start is the background but no icons or anything and i cant move the mouse on the tv. if i try to mirror the windows in the display i get a message that says mode not supported on the tv. any ideas. i don't have an external mouse to try

  • Question on Gaming with Mac Mini and hooking one up to a Samsung TV LCD HD

I am looking at buying the 2.26 Ghz mini with 4 gigs of ram. I understand that minidisplay port does do audio and that a 3rd party is releasing a cable that does just this instead of 2 adapters to make it work without audio. My first question is, I would like to make a mini take the place of a apple tv. Namely because I would rather have full functionality on a tv rather than just the audio and movies and pics. If I get the optical cable, I understand the optical in the audio jack out does support 5.1 surround if you are using the optical and not a regualar 3.5mm jack. Is this correct?
I also was curious about how well the 9400m graphics card would handle a game such as World of warcraft. My laptop does just fine, but it also has a faster processor, the 9600 gt and a 7200 rpm hard drive. My tv is a Samsung 52" LCD 1080P 120HZ. Thanks in advance!

Who confirmed that to you? I'm having major difficulty finding out if the Mini DisplayPort does indeed have audio capabilities. So far it's not looking god, which seems like utter madness.

  • Touchpad pointer jumps around when connecting to samsung 40'' LCD

    Hi guys
For the past two years, I have been connecting my macbookpro 13’’ (mid2009) to my Samsung 40’’ LCD using mini displayport to hdmi cable, suddenly something went wrong and the touchpad pointer started to  jump (twitch) around. I tried different adapter but the problem still occurred. when I remove the cable. the pointer act normal.
Last night I connected my MBP to an old made in china LCD TV and everything worked fine.
what do you think is the problem? Is there any troubleshooting steps I should do? Please help

No trackpad control when HDMI cable connected or trackpad goes crazy when HDMI cable connected?
The erratic Track Pad/Magic Pad behaviour could be caused by the SMC.
Try resetting the SMC this way:
    1. Attach the HDMI cable.
    2. Power off the MacBook Pro.
    3. Press the L-Shift/Control/Option and Power button at the same time and hold.
    4. Release them all at the same time (its ok if the MacBook Pro power on now)
    5. Then power on the MacBook Pro.
Not only did my USB regain functionality, but it appears to have resolved my erratic Track Pad/Magic Pad behaviour. It now operates as it had done when new.

  • Damaged Samsung 32" LCD TV

    To Whom it May Concern,
I purchased a Samsung 32" LCD TV in store at Best Buy on July 28th. Not wanting to handle the television too much I had an in-store manager carry it to the checkout station and he bumped the center of the box against a blind corner he could not see. Harmless enough I thought and I didn't have him check the TV to see if it had been damaged since the bump seemed rather slight. I transported the unit home myself and awaited the delivery/set-up of my HD Direct TV satellite so that I could enjoy the newest addition to my home theater with all the trimmings. Well to my dismay, after pulling the TV from the box just a few days after I purchased it, that rather benign bump caused by the in-store manager cause a very small ding in the screen but when the television is turned on  it looks like the entire LCD is smashed and I have no idea how I'm going to get BB to believe that I didn't cause that in transit. Can it even be repaired? I'm sooo disappointed and frustrated. HELP!!!

I would take it back to the store for an exchange, the sooner the better.  Bringing back the same day or next definitely helps as far as believability in concerned.  So don't delay any longer, explain the situation without losing your temper out of your self described frustration.  Customer service workers are typically more willing to help a fellow PERSON out who are kind, courteous, and sincere. In a public place, the term PERSON usually goes away with the presence out a hostile customer, who is then seen more as a threat than a human being.  Worst case scenario would be to contact consumer relations at 1-888-BESTBUY if a legitimate complaint needs to be placed.

  • Samsung 52" LCD TV-no image

I bought Samsung 52" LCD TV about 2 years ago in Best Buy. The very last time I watched TV was 5 days ago. Then, 2 days later, when I was going to watch TV again, I found the TV wouldn't response from the remote control. I changed the battery on the control. I tried to use the bottoms on the TV set, it didn't work either. Although the blue light on the bottom is on, the LCD screen just went black totally.
Question1: where I can find out that I purchased the protection plan or not? Question 2: How long the factory warranty cover? Q 3: If I don't have protection plan, where I should go to find repair? Please advise and thank you in advance.

Good luck with this. I hope you have better service than we have. Our Samsung plasma was less than a year old and we've been without it for 5 week and it will be 8 or more by the time it is resolved. If you don't have an extended warranty (we do), just go to your local tv repairman and have it fixed. It takes forever to get through the red tape of BB and the Geek Squad. See my post on the 16th. Ours is some electronic panel. Friend so mine with an LCD had the same issue but theirs was only the bulb. Good luck!

  • PPC Mini works with Samsung 46" LCD at 1360x768 (sort of)

    Greetings.
I just purchased a Samsung 46" LCD panel with the intent of using my PPC mini as a home theatre. I connected the mini to the LCD and once I turned off overscan, the display looks very good. The on-screen text is clear and sharp and the colors look great.
I am having a problem, however, displaying graphics such as DVD movies. It looks that when I play DVDs there is a bit of pixellation and the blacks look washed out.
The guys at BestBuy told me that this is due to the mini not producing a video frame rate fast enough. Is this true? If so, will the graphics processor in the Intel mini work any better?
    Thanks in advance.

  • What is the difference between these two Samsung 46" LCDs

I recently got a Samsung LN46C600 46" LCD 120Hz TV from Best Buy. I was also looking at the LN46C630K1F 120Hz as well. The LN46C600 I got was about $100 cheaper and they only had one left (in the back). The Best Buy rep also was telling me how this was a special Xmas model they had put out. They really couldn't tell me the real difference between the two, but I decided to get this LN46C600 (since it was the last one) and figured what the heck. Plus, since Best Buy has a 30 day return policay, I would try to decifer the difference when I got home.
I initially thought maybe this 600 model didn't have the ethernet port & that was the difference, but it fact it does. The Best Buy website has some mis-infomation as well saying both sets did NOT have an ethernet port. However, they both do have an ethernet port used for DLNA sharing (and not internet apps like Netflix).
Does anybody know what the TRUE difference is between the LN46C600 & the LN46C630K1F? I'm hoping its not the 120Hz factor & they also mis-labeled that information on their website as well. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Both can use the same screen or have a XXXXXXX02 in the 630, in anycase both could very well have the same panel.

  • Connecting MacBook to Samsung FullHD LCD TV (newbie)

    I've gone Mac.
After going through 4 faulty PC notebooks in 5 under 5 months I got a store credit and used it to put towards a macBook Model: (MB466X/A) http://www.apple.com/au/macbook/specs.html (it's on laybuy at the moment but getting it out in afew weeks)
I want to be prepared so I have a few questions...
Now what I need to know is how can I connect it to my SAMSUNG LCD TV Series 6 32inch Model:(LA32A650) http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/detail/spec.dogroup=television&type=televisio n&subtype=lcdtv&model_cd=LA32A650A1HXXY&fullspec=F for use in my lounge room.
I am confused by the Mac forums saying, I need all these cables just to connect it. Would anyone be able to assist me at all?
As I have never used a Mac before but was playing with one in the store and thought this is the way to go after so much disappointment with Windows based notebooks.
    many thanks in advance.
    Jason

You will just need to pick up the correct adapted for your Macbook. If it is an aluminum model you will need the mini display port adapter. If it is the white model you will need the mini DVI adapter. To hook the computer up to your tv you will need to decide which port you will want to use (VGA or HDMI) then buy the correct cable to go from your tv to the adapter you purchased for the computer. Its a pretty simple setup you shouldn't have any issues.

  • DVI to VGA  or S Video when connecting to a Samsung LN46a950 LCD TV

I have a first generation intel Mac mini. I just bought a Samsung LCD TV. I currently have my computer hooked up to the TV through the S-video jack via an adaptor. I have a optical audio out going to my receiver. Will I get a better picture if I get a DVI to VGA cable or does my s-video connection give me as good as I can get?
    Thanks loads for your help.

Yes, you will get a better quality picture if you connect via VGA instead of S-video. While VGA isn't as good as it can get (it's analog, so a DVI or HDMI connection would be better if the TV has it), it's capable of delivering a much more crisp and color saturated image at higher resolutions than s-video.

  • Trying to output to a Samsung 40" LCD TV correctly.

    Problem:
I have hooked my macbook up to my Sony 40" LCD TV model LN-S4041D via an apple (Mini-DVI to DVI adapter) and then a (DVI to HDMI cable). My TV does not have a DVI input just HDMI and all of the other analog inputs. When I hook it up my i get an output on the screen but it is not mapping pixel by pixel to the TV's exact resolution. This is causing there to be a black bar all the way around about 2" wide (top, bottom, left and right). The tv's native resolution PC is (1360x768). Is there any way I can get the macbook to output this correctly. I have tried using DisplayConfigX and creating a custom resolution and when I try using that resolution my TV doesn't work at all. It can't find an appropriate signal from the macbook. I am building a Home Theatre PC and am planning on using a mac-mini or ITV when it is released but I would like to use my macbook in the meantime. Please Help!!!!

You should also consider posting your question to the AVS Forum (avsforum.com). You will likely find more people over there with info about this TV, even though they may own PCs and not Macs. The important thing to find out is if anyone, using any computer, has been able to get bit-for-bit working with that Sony. A lot of Sony LCD TVs have video processors that interfere with the ability of a computer to display on the TV at native resolution. Hopefully you won't encounter that.

Would take to long to find them all with good information. But this is one.

    And then i tried this:

    Didnt work either.
The maximum resolution for the monitor is 1080p. I have no problem getting this from my computer. When i use the HDMI i get 1080p, when i use VGA i get 1920 x 1080. Hmm

  • Connecting G4 to new Samsung 40" LCD

my wife is bedridden and wants to use my old G4 (10.3.9) with dual 1.2 Ghz processors, Bus speed 100 Mhz, & 20" NVDA Display B. I was think of putting the screen on a hospital bed tray & getting a large lap top desk (with bean bag) to put the keyboard & mouse on, but she wants to connect to her new TV about 10-12 feet away. It has 1360 x 768 @ 60Hz. It also has S-Video2, PC, HDMI 1 & HDMI 2 connections. Is this possible? I am worried that if I could connect, the printing would be too small (as she likes to surf the web and also stream radio shows). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, George
    IMac 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo & 1 GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM

    Depending on your video card this can be quite easy. I currently have my MDD listed below hooked to a 23" older Cinema display through the ADC output. Then I have a 40" Samsung 4095DX (1920x1080) hooked to the DVI output of the same video card (currently Nvidia Geforce4 Titanium, though was ATI Radeon 9000 both work great), with a DVI to HDMI cable. There is some overscan but it doesn't bother me much using the Samy as a second monitor in extended desktop mode. Dont see why you couldn't use the Samy's VGA input as well (its probably less fussy). I played around with "Switchresx" trying to get rid of the overscan but its way too complicated. See this thread over on the AVS forum to learn more about Switchresx as well as the ins and outs of going DVI-I to HDMI (you will need to quit your day job to figure this stuff out, fun though);

The AVS forum is a great resource for this stuff and there are a # of threads directly related to Samsung LCDs. The above thread though was most helpful to me. There is also a whole section on Mac home theater.
