Samsung 55" LED TV

Hey there Best Buy Community,
Ok so this is my 1st post here, I had a couple questions that I hope someone can help me with. So I'm gonna admit now, that I'm not so tech savy. So my fiance and I recently just purchased a 55" Samsung LED TV, and this thing is wonderful...we stepped up from a 720 32" Vizio, so it's a HUGE difference, hahah.
I have a PS3 hooked up w/HDMI and my cable is hooked up w/components. I'm guessing that the 120mhz is what causes HD programs and blu ray to appear like live TV (I love this feature). Now sometimes it seems that certain DVDs appear to play in that aspect of fluid movement and others don't.
Ok, so my 1st question is doesn't a PS3 upconvert DVDs to 1080i??
My 2nd question is about the TV, in the upper left hand corner it always displays the resolution and mhz, now even when I'm playing a PS3 game or blu ray it notes the resolution being 1980 x 1080i @ 60mhz. Now the picture is extremely clear and fluid movement for both, but is that the correct reading?? I'm using a 1.3 HDMI cable. Also, I noticed that the Samsung TV has 4 HDMI inputs, and my PS3 is hooked into the 1st port that is labled HDMI/AVI, would that have something to do with it?? The manual for the TV doesn't mention anything about this.
Thanks Forum!!

You should ditch the PS3 as a Blu-Ray/DVD player and just go with a nice Samsung Blu-Ray player. The quality will be better. As far as your PS3 goes, check the settings on the console to make sure it is outputting 1080p and not 1080i. Look here.

Hey. Is this sense to play games on Samsung UE32F5000 LED TV? . My mother bought it to watch TV. But i am thinking now , can i play games on this? Max res is 1920. Will be good quality? I am asking because this is 32 size, very big . Got HDMI too:)
You know my standard monitor got max 1440x900 , 19 csize.
So yesterday my mother for watching TV bought new LED SAMSUNG TV 32 with HDMI. And my first idea? Playing games:D
Sorry for my language:) I am Polish. Cheers from Poland.

yes input lag could be an issue for FPS shooters
else should be fine. most of modern monitors/TVs has special mode to bypass certain internal circuitry to reduce the input lag
you need to set the input to "game mode", once done for your TV input lag will be reduced to around 16ms,
which is not bad compared to others monitors:

  • Can not get Samsung 22" LED TV to work with Mac Mini (2009), 'No Signal' message. any suggestions?

I've just purchased a Samsung 5000series 22" LED TV to use with my Mac Mini (2009). I'm connecting using VGA with VGA adapter to MacMini. The TV is reading an error message saying there's no signal. Already tried with a 32" LG and it worked, as well as with a Dell moniter but can't seem to get this Samsung to work... PLEASE HELP!!

That is not totally true. Instead of using an analog VGA connection, try using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter and HDMI cable with that Samsung Monitor.

  • Mac Pro and Samsung 32" LED TV Compatibility issues

PLEASE HELP! I purchased this new Tv as my Monitor. I am a photographer and need a clear image and color clarity. The Tv only offers resolutions that are not working! I purchased a new HDMI to DVI cable thinking that might fix the problem. No luck yet. Any suggestion would be great!

Well you don't specify the model of your TV nor the resolution... anyway, the largest resolution you'll ever get from a TV (ever as in the current models offered in stores) is 1920x1080.
I've plugged my MBP via DVI cable to my Samsung series 530 fullHD (1080p) 32" to watch movies, and the tv screen do not make justice either to the os X interface or to any application, it plays the HD content gorgeously but definitely not for serious working... i have a Samsung 23" monitor (2333TN) same full HD resolution connected to my MacPro and it allows me to work comfortably but it is not as nice as the 24" screen on my iMac or the 27" Apple LED Cinema Display...
    Good Luck...
Remember... it doesn't have to do with your graphics card but with the actual number of physical pixels built in the screen!!

  • FiOS TV APP not supported on Samsung UN60H6350AFXZA LED TV

    Hi,
I recently bought a Samsung 60 inch LED Smart TV : UN60H6350AFXZA. I tried to browse for Verizon FiOS TV APP on the Samsung Smart Hub and couldn't find it. I spoke with their customer care and they are saying this TV is not supported. I was shocked after hearing this.
I have a Verizon FiOS TV, which is workin for my old Samsung 50 inch Smart TV.
Anyone having same TV model using their FiOS TV App? How can I access the FiOS TV from my Samsung Smart TV?
    Thanks,

also will be purchasing a wireless keyboard for clamshell mode. I started a external monitor thread but got only 1 reply.. For what i need i think this setup would be good.

Please note that the description of the monitor says you get a VGA cable with it. The HDMI adapter might not be what you need.  Verify the details!
I cannot make any value judgements as to the quality of the display, but you should get a good HD TV like image,

  • Samsung un46c6500 LED TV and Mac Mini

So I recently purchased a new Mac mini and have hooked it up to my samsung un46c6500 via HDMI cable. We have been seeing major issues with this setup, most of the time the screen is very dark. Im not sure if its the TV or the Mac mini that is doing this.
I tried a different TV (also Samsung 20) and did not see the same issues. Has anyone else seen similar issues and found a resolution?

    Hi there,
We have tried the color calibration a few times and it doesnt seem to work - everything is still very dark in comparison with other tv's or if I compare it to the picture on my PS3.

  • Dissatisfaction with Samsung has led me to ask Apple for Assistance with iPad for Husband with MS

My husband suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and I am just trying to find information on any discounts or programs that would allow him to get an iPad2 w/ wi-fi and 3G.  He currently has a Samsung Galaxy Tab that we paid for from our funds however, the time has come and it has issues and we are receiving no support from Samsung nor Verizon. Nothing. Verizon even sold us a charger that is not compatible with the Tab. Our Verizon store is not friendly or helpful on most occasions. But that is not why I am here. My husbands MS impairs his sight (closeness/reading & Uhthoff's phenomenon), small motor skills, dexterity, and walking/balance.  He functions well enough to where he makes a commitment to working every day except when he is scheduled for infusions once per month at the hospital. So the best possible option for him now would be an Apple iPad. He has heavily relied on his other tablet, until now, to help him function daily at work and at home. However, our current budget will not allow us to make such a large purchase and payments do not seem to be an option at this time either. So if Community Affairs or a partnership with the MS Society or other group could offer a substantial discount to persons with disabilities that would be wonderful and we may be able to manage obtaining some remaining costs to complete the purchase. No, more than wonderful. At this point, I do not like him being without an assistive device. Watching him struggle to read or use maps breaks my heart and makes me worry of his safety.
Please contact me if anyone can be of any help.  I spent over 2 hours online last night looking for assistance and as you can tell I didn't find any. Maybe I will find some here.
Thank you in advance for reading, responding and caring.
    Lisa
P.S. - He was in the middle of a Audio Book about S. Jobs which he really enjoyed on long drives/trips to worksites. This has been a dissapointment not to be able to finish the book.  His audio books are one of his favorite things when he drives or rides in the car.  With his impaired sight, it opens a door he never new was there.

    BobTheFisherman:
Thank you for your response but the trouble we are having is the Samsung Galaxy we purchased for my husband is having major issues and is just out of warranty.  Both Verizon and Samsung are giving us a hard time trying to deal with any troubleshooting, replacement or any other help.  Like I said before Verizon even gave us a replacement charger that was the wrong charger which is useless to us.  It was recommended we look for an iPad/Apple product for it's reputation, reliability and numerous positive attributes that would assist my husband and his disability.
    Thanks again.

  • White light from corners of Samsung UN60D6000 LED TV

So i finally got my TV today after going through HE11 and back with the shipping process. I hook it up, run all the wires through the wall, get surround sound exactly where i want it and settle in to watch my brand new tv. Within in 10 seconds imy eyes are drawn to these white clouds in all corners of the screen.          W T F???!!!!! I am so tired of this crap, pay thousands of dollars for products and they have the quality of a knock off from china town. Can anyone give me an answer as to why they are there or an adjustment i can make other than the backlighting or brightness, ive tried those and have had no luck. Looks like i will be waiting for another TV from BB.

It's refered to as flashlighting. It's a common problem in LCD/led as the driving factor is lighting pushed through pixels to create the picture. What you are seeing is a spot where the lighting is passing through unscathed or overpowering around the edges since this is an edge lit tv.
Some TVs are worse than others even if they are the same model, size and even batch.
This can be caused for many reasons which I won't go into here. You have 2 options return and/or exchange it at your local store if still in that window. Or you can call the tv manufacturer to see of it is out of their allowable tolerance levels.
Remember some flashlighting is still within their specs so even though you may not be happy with it the manufacturer may not fix it.
Many people find some relief by turning brightness down, contrast down and some TVs allow you to adjust back light levels. If this one does then make sure it is not on high.
For more info on this I would go to hidefjunkies.com as it has tons of great info

  • TV setup and networking for a samsung 46" led 6500 series

We are putting up the mount for this TV on the wall - are we supposed to have it put in the mount before they come for sku 9797954 TV setup and Networking?
    Thank you.  Susan

True they may pull the TV back down for ease of connections. I would say as long as you have the mount on the wall and the bracket on the back of the TV you will be just fine. They should do the rest for you

  • Samsung LED 8000 40"

We recently purchased the Samsung 40" LED TV.  We have an antenna on a tower, no cable or satellite dish.  With our old TV we programmed Madison, Milwaukee and Green Bay stations.  When we program the stations for Madison and then turn the antenna for Milwaukee and program those stations the Madison stations are removed.  Is there a way to keep them/set them permanently with out them disappearing each time?  It is a real pain to reprogram stations each time we move the antenna to another city.
Our second problem is recording programs.  We have an old VHS that doesn't work unless we use a converter box.  Is there a Blueray unit, DVD, CD, MP3, VHS  player/recorder out there somewhere?  I would like to join Netflix and do not have playstation 3, or any other unit that would work.  I have an older surround sound system and a playstation 2 and cannot figure out how to hook it all up so it is all usable on this new TV.  All the wrong connecters and I was told they do not make adapters.

OK, when I turn the antenna to 250 degrees to scan the Madison WI stations, then turn the antenna 135 degrees to scan the Milwaukee, WI stations, the Madison stations are gone.  Apparently the TV will only hold the stations that the antenna is picking up at the degree it is pointing.  If I turn the antenna back to 250 degrees and try to manually punch in a Madison TV station number on the remote it is gone, only snow and fine tuning will not work if it is not programmed in to begin with.  It is very aggravating.
It was snowing across the whole southern half of the state the first time I followed your instructions.  I rotated the antenna for Madison first, then Milwaukee and lost one Madison station in the process.  The TV did not delete the station on its own, it disappeared after I programmed Milwaukee in.    Maybe the snow helped with the stations being stronger.  Odd I know but I have no other explanation.  I am hoping it snows again so I can try it..  I will let you know if it works.  I even tried to program them in late at night, 2:30 am, to see if that would work.  It did not although I did pick up a Green Bay station some how.  Puzzling.
I am still looking for a player/recorder that is Netflix capable, and found Moxi.  You pay for the unit outright and no monthly fees like TiVo.  It sounded perfect until I read that it is only made to be used with cable.  No dish or antenna.  Bummer.  I will keep searching, maybe some company will put one out soon.  I can only hope.

  • Apple Macbook Pro Retina with display issue Samsung LED

Once I have plugged the HDMI cable from Macbook Pro to Samsung 24" LED Monitor, the display remains black. Doesn't seemed like the samsung monitor recognised the Apple Macbook Pro at all. I have reset the PRAM and troubleshoot it with Apple and meanwhile still waiting for answer from Apple. They have acknowledged of the problem but there is no solution. I erally need the second extended monitor for my design work. Bit ridiculus that the most powerful Apple system cannot even do the simplest thing. I am stuck now. Please help.

Just letting everyone in the forum know that I have been a loyal user of apple for the past 20 years and this is quite embarassing to know that HDMI cannot work with a samsung LED monitor. In addition, I have been a Apple Tech and Sales.
Also, there are a lot of users out there who are having the same propblem,. This is certainly not good enough.
I still find it wayyyyy too early to blame Apple so generally. This other "lot of users" has a lot of home-made problems, such as incompatible displays, adapters, etc.
BTW, mind telling the exact display model number?

  • Displaying Video & Photos on Samsung LED TV

I have a MacBook Pro and an iMac connected to a home wireless network. I also have a Samsung 8000 LED TV and a Samsung BD 1600 Blu Ray player with the Samsung wireless stick that they require in order to stream Netflix wirelessly through the Blu Ray player to the LED TV. That is working fine through our home wireless network.
I want to be able to view my iPhoto slideshows, etc. on both my MacBook Pro and my iMac on the Samsung 8000 LED TV. How do I configure these devices to be able to accomplish that?
    Thanks.
    Neil

Samsung don't offer any support for Mac OS X - the software they ship with the TV is Windows-only.
If you want network streaming there's a dearth of DLNA options for the Mac. All my (limited) research points to MediaTomb as being the most likely candidate - it acts as a UPnP/DLNA server that the TV should be able to stream from, but I haven't yet spent the time to get it working.
If you can eschew the network stream path you can use the TV as a monitor (get a DVI -> HDMI cable and plug the Mac straight in, or you can copy the media to a USB drive and connect that to the TV, then play the content from the USB drive.

  • Why won't my 2011 21" iMac recognize my 40" Samsung Series 6 LED Tv as a display?

I recently purchased the 2011 iMac and was tring to connect it to my Samsung 40" Led Tv. The tv says that their is no signal and isn't even recognized when i try and "detect display".  I am using a Mini displayPort to Hdmi cable that has worked on my other Sony tv.  I have tried it numerous times and can't figure out what the solution is. Can anyone give me any advice? Is there some type of software i need for my Mac to recognize my TV or something.

I have found a solution MilkMuny, I had previously tried my 10’ Thunderbolt to HDMI cable (eBay £7.95  10FT Mini DisplayPort Thunderbolt to HDMI TV Cable Adapter for MacBook Pro iMac) and encountered the same issue as you. I then read somewhere on the net that it was a handshake issue between the iMac and the Samsung TV, on another thread I read that a HDMI switch may resolve this issue.  So I purchased one of the cheapest powered HDMI switches I could find on Amazon (£10.99 Kinivo 301BN Premium 3 port High speed HDMI switch with IR wireless remote and AC Power adapter - supports 3D, 1080p) because of Amazon’s amazing returns policy I wanted to return it if it didn’t solve my problem. I powered down everything and plugged the thunderbolt cable into the first HDMI port on the switch and a cheep £4 HDMI to HDMI cable from the switch to my HDMI 1 port on the back of my Samung TV. I powered up the switch, then the TV a few seconds later, finally the iMac.  It instantly worked!  I had to adjust some of the settings in the iMAC display properties so the picture on the TV was mirrored rather than extended and I also had to adjust the scale slider so ensure the whole of the iMac screen displayed on the TV and didn’t loose the menu bar at the top.  Now my kids can play Moshi Monsters on the 37” TV. Should I have had to buy a HDMI switch and an extra HDMI cable, should I have to have an extra device plugged into the power socket using up extra electricity, absolutely not. Do I care, well for the extra £15 or so I’m not going to worry. When Apple/Samsung get their acts together and let me dispense with the switch, I’m more than happy with the result.
