Samsung A900 iSync support

Hi folks,
Does anyone have the Samsung A900 phone working with iSync 2.3?
Thank you
Steve aka Tiggr

Not a chance. No Samsung mobile handset is supported by iSync, unless it is one of the now long discontinued models based on the Palm OS.
One mobile handsets, smartphones and organizers listed here are explicitly supported by iSync:

  • Address Book vCards via Bluetooth to Samsung a900 "Blade" cell phone

I'm able to export Address Book contacts as vCards and then import them into one of the new Samsung a900 "Blade" Sprint phones using Bluetooth, but with a couple of vexing problems.
    1. I should clarify that I can import vCards into the new "Blade" cell phone from Address Book via Bluetooth, but only by dragging one card at a time, a very tedious process. Unfortunately, no data transfer occurs if I select multiple cards and drag them all at the same time. I'm using OS X (v10.4.2). Perhaps v10.4.4 and/or a more current AddressBook update will make a difference, or perhaps the problems are solely at the Samsung end...
After activating the paired phone and then launching Apple's Bluetooth File Transfer Utility, I'm dragging the vCards onto the OS X dock icon...
But before I do this, the "No Name" problem is forcing me to manually enter the Company Name into Address Book's last name field for every card that has no personal first/last name. Again, this is necessary just to get the Samsung a900's internal phone book to display something useful for these records (besides listing each record as "No name").
    2. When the phone software sees an entry with a Company Name only (but no First/Last Name entered), it goes brain dead and lists each entry as "No Name" instead of ignoring the empty Name fields and simply listing the Company Name. This is an age-old problem with dumb cell phone software (my previous Sanyo phone did this too). Unfortunately, Address Book exporting is useless without fixing this...Is there a way to get Address Book to format exported vCards to compensate for this shortcoming in the Phone interface?
More info on this phone and Macs is posted on an a900-Mac thread in the Samsung discussion at www.sprintusers.com. The "Blade" is Samsung's new model that copies the look-and-feel of the popular Motorola RAZR, and it is a very nice, if not entirely original, design, and a very hot phone at Sprint right now. It does have a few bugs, but some already have been addressed with a firmware update from Samsung. It's only been out since late November or early December of 2005.
I also cross-posted these questions in the Address Book and Mail forum...

All metioned problems are Samsung's fault. Blame them.
I've been assuming it was a Samsung problem, and have posted help requests in cell phone forums that Samsung engineers and/or support allegedly reads. I was hoping there might be some way to automate a workaround from the computer end...
Now, if Address Book had an option to define the fields that are to be exported or perhaps automatically sub Company Names for last names the problem would be solved when exporting for cell phones. I can't belive no one has ever encountered this before -- it has been a problem with every cell phone I have ever owned.

  • Using Phone Functions with Samsung a900

    Hello all...
I have a Samsung a900 from Sprint, and just learned that I can use the phone functions in the Address Book app. I go to pair the device to my iBook, and type in my defined passkey, but nothing happens. And Bluetooth Setup Assistant says my phone only has "Use as a modem" as a service. Any ideas?
    Thanks

If you don't have a screen protector, it is almost certainly a hardware fault..
Download an install the rootsh package from the app manager
Open an x terminal and run these two commands exactly
    sudo gainroot
    cat /proc/kmsg
Open and close the keyboard of your phone.. you should see lines like:
<6>[36064.929351] slide (GPIO 71) is now open
<6>[36069.546630] slide (GPIO 71) is now closed
when you open and close the keyboard.
Now, close the keyboard of your phone, and make a phone call (call your answer phone) (don't close the x terminal.. leave it running in the background)
Whilst the call is active, cover the top of your phone to cover the three sensors. Put your hand over the ear piece, cover from the charging light to the white nokia logo..
remove your hand and repeat a few times..
Now end the call and switch back to the x terminal.. you should see lines like this:
<6>[36056.476257] proximity (GPIO 89) is now closed
<6>[36057.241882] proximity (GPIO 89) is now open
<6>[36057.749572] proximity (GPIO 89) is now closed
<6>[36058.343322] proximity (GPIO 89) is now open
So.. if you don't see proximity lines then you've definitely got sensor issues and your phone needs to go back..

  • Samsung A900 USB mass storage and Tiger

I just got a Samsung A900 phone, when I connect with USB as mass storage device, the phone is mounted write protected in 10.4.3. In 10.3.9, it mounts as a writeable drive.

Hi there. I just bought a Samsung A900 and figured out how to use the phone as a USB Mass storage device:
My setup is a PowerBook G4 with 10.4.6 all updates (including the latest Security Updates and iLife '06 updates).
    1. Plug the USB cable into the phone, and your computer.
    2. The phone should say "USB Cable connected" on the main screen. If it doesn't, turn the phone off, and back on again with the cable plugged in.
    3. Press the Menu button
    4. Go to Tools
    5. Go to Mass Storage
    6. Select "Connect to PC."
You will not be able to receive phone calls while the phone is in USB Mass Storage mode.
A new volume should appear in the OS X Finder as "Untitled."
You have access to the same folders as with a Bluetooth connection.
Unfortunately, this also means that it is not a solution to get custom ring tones from an MP3 you own.
I tried looking in Terminal for any hidden folders, and I can't find any. I honestly think a firmware update/hack is needed to enable this on the phone.
    Hope this helps.

  • When will iSync Support SE P990?

I just wonder when will iSync support P990i as I have been using iSync and .Mac for ages. I don't want to change my life style so I just wondering when will iSync support P990i??

I share the dissappointment of other SE P990i owners who have discovered that their new smartphone does not work at all with iSync, unlike the previous P800/P900/P910 models. Yes, I do know that the underlying Symbian OS has changed, which explains the difficulty. But one would hope that, after the new phone has been available from around September 2006, Apple would by now have updated iSync to deal with this important new top-of-the-line Sony Ericsson business phone.
My only "solution" was to synchronize the SE P990i with my IBM ThinkPad under Windows XP and Outlook 2003. Worked like a charm... Too bad for my PowerBook...
I am in the market for a new computer in a couple of months. If this issue is not solved, I fear it may be time to continue sticking with the other side...

  • Nokia N75 iSync support

Now that Cingular has officially released the Nokia N75, I'm looking at it as an alternative to plunking down the big bucks for an iPhone. However, I don't see it listed on Apple's list of iSync supported phones, nor is it listed on Nokia's iSync plug-in page.
When should I expect a solution? As new Nokia phones have come on the market, what's been the typical time lag before a plug-in is made available? Is it a certainty that one will be written for N75? Thanks to any and all responses.
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Well, hopefully Nokia will soon provide an official N75 iSync plug-in, but in the meantime, someone has kindly provided one:

  • Samsung NX100 RAW Support?

I've been trying to use Aperture with the Samsung NX100.  In most conditions there is too much red/magenta.  In some photos it is absolutely out of control.  For example, a couple of indoor portraits had the person's face bright magenta, and a pine cabinet was bright orange/pink.
There are spikes in the RGB histogram that don't appear in the JPEG.  I shoot RAW+JPEG combos, and the JPEGs are absolutely fine as far as colour goes.
Auto white-balance doesn't fix it, neither does careful white-balance adjustment or eye-dropper based white balance adjustment.  I've tried adjusting the colour, and I can't seem to fix it that way either, for example I can get a flat wood floor to look right but then some toys on the floor actually look like blown channels.  I've also tried applying Curves to R, G, and B channels separately.  No luck.  I've given up trying to find a preset that will even work for a single photo.
I tried a trial version of Lightroom and everything looks great there, including showing the camera's white balance setting.
What is the status of NX100 support? Will there be an update?

Thank you Clem, for the response.  I hope the update will come soon.
For the benefit of others, I would like to mention that in the meantime, as a workaround I convert the files to Adobe DNG using the latest version of Adobe's DNG Converter.  Aperture 3 is able to work with the DNG files just fine.

  • Samsung nx200 raw support

I can't get Lightroom3.4.1 to read samsung's raw files.  in sRGB or adobeRGB.  This is the new NX 200.  But since it is supposed to support NX100, one would think NX 200 should be the same format. Any suggestions on how what to do.  The samsung converter makes for a clumsy workflow.  thx.

I do in RAW, than import SRW to Samsung Raw Converter. I set the correct white balance, sharpen. and exports to TIFF.
After a suitable set of parameters is somewhat smaller TIF - so it will retain all of them do DNG.
It seems to me that the TIF has better quality than JPG.
Anyway I look forward to the support for SRW from NX200

  • Does iSync Support the Sony-Ericsson Z750 ?

Does anyone know the status of iSynch support for the new AT&T Z750? It is not listed as supported in the latest list.
How do I get Apple to answer this Q ?

The Sony Ericsson Z750 already works fine with iSync, and has done since its release in November 2007 via an iSync Plugin from here.
It's looking increasingly unlikely that Apple will add support for this phone in the future - they're currently anything from 6 months to 4 years behind in adding support for 'new' phones, and are encouraging third-parties to fill the gap.

  • Help, taking picture with samsung's mmapi supported phones

    HI:
My midlet run on nokia phones with mmapi suport. but when i run it with samsung phones in emulator, the following error happens
    javax.microedition.media.MediaException: Cannot create a DataSource for: capture://video
    at javax.microedition.media.Manager.createDataSource(Manager.java:635)
    at javax.microedition.media.Manager.createPlayer(Manager.java:467)
I can get little information about sumsung's phones support on mmapi.
samsung's support for developer is disappointing.
i have tried this on almost all phones' emulator, the same error!
    regards

http://www.gnumaniacs.org/bluetooth/dg_java_me_r20a.pdf Since your phone supports both MMAPI (JSR-135) and AMS camera capabilities (JSR-234), have a look at this specification document which may solve the problem.

  • Samsung C5212 isync plugin

Any chance of getting isync plugin for Samsung C5212?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Technically, from the phones specifications, it looks as though an iSync Plugin may be feasible, but as yet there is none available.
I'm afraid it's just a case of waiting until either Samsung or a third-party releases a plugin. There's no timescale for this though - it could be days, weeks, months or never...

  • ICal or iPod Sync on MacOSX? (iSync support?)

I take a copy of my calendar with me, on my iPod. Currently, I have to open Oracle Calendar, export the calendar to .vcs format (.ics dies for some reason), then import that .vcs file into iCal as a new calendar. Then, sync iCal to the iPod. It works, but oy.
It would be great if iSync would just "see" Oracle Calendar, and pull the data directly out of it.
As a fallback, it would be handy if Oracle Calendar would allow functioning export if .ics in the MacOSX client (works on the Windows client, last time I tried).

    Hi,
Can you tell me what version of the calendar client you are using? You can download the latest 9.0.4.2 from OTN.
    Thanks,

  • ISync support Nokia N70 ?

    as title
Any one of you using isync on Tiger(10.4.5) with Nokia N70 successfully?

metaclasses.plist modification is required for N70 or N90 to work with Tiger 10.4.5's iSync 2.1.1 (89.0)
    Navigate to Applications -> iSync -> (Control-click and Show Package Contents) -> Contents -> Plugins -> ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice -> Contents -> Plugins -> PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin -> Contents -> Resources
Remove any pairing first then replace the metaclasse.plist with this (N70 and N90 tiff icons included):
    http://s18.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0SY1TC1135HR12YXWK5SNHX9MB
Do a Repair Permision after and your all set. Back up your original metaclasses.plist just to be safe.
Worked well with my N70 and N90.

  • Isync supported devices problem

i just check this out... http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/
and i don't see and sonyercisson P1i, I'm planning to buy it, but if it doesn't sync, I may have to consider other cell phone, any one know it's the plug in for P1i already exit fit for Leopard? or is it just the same isync as Tiger? thx

A plugin for the P1i is available from SONY Ericsson here.
It requires Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later and iSync 2.3 or later, and is available in English only. There is no specific claim of Mac OS X 10.5.x compatibility.
