Samsung Brightside? Until they fix DO NOT BUY

The Samsung Brightside is defective. I have had two in less than one month and both did not let me use the T9 function. When a person uses the T9 function the phone powers off and re-starts. There are many many complaints on this board but Verizon is just not moving to resolve this issue.
I would suggest that Verizon let Samsung know that they will not sell Samsung phones if they do not get a fix going. I suggest that Samsung through Verizon,
1. recall the phone so that we all can exchange it for one that works
2. recall the phone so that you can bring it in to a Verizon dealer where they can install a software up date
3. Verizon allows the exchange for another phone and send all the poorly made Samsungs back to Korea
4. Verizon quit making false promises and give a specific course of action to us consumers how to get this corrected
I hope everyone else who mistakenly bought this phone does not give up. You can contact Better Business Bureau, your States Attorney, Consumer Protection Agency and more. Please post any other ideas you have to get this resolved.
If no fix every happens then I hope people remember this when their contracts are done.
Recently Apple replaced first generation iPods with the newest generation. All you had to do was go online and submit the serial number, send in the old one, working or not, wait and then get a new one.
Samsung & Verizon do you get the hint?

I just filed a formal complaint with the Massachusetts Attorney General's office regarding this phone. It is flawed, defective, faulty and Verizon CONTINUES to sell it for profit. My Calendar and Alarm features do not WORK and I've experienced a problem with the phone turning off if you press a certain key while texting - that's CRAZY! But the Calendar and Alarm features have not work and continue not to function since i bought the phone. I brought it in twice to the SUDBURY MASSACHUSETTS VERIZON STORE 420 BOSTON POST ROAD - and was pretty much told "too bad, so sad." Verizon would NOT contact Samsung and refused to do anything to try and fix the problem! And now ANOTHER problem has cropped up - when I get a single text, I get the text notification TWICE - THAT's NEVER happened since I bought the phone. This phone is a piece of CHIT and Verizon continues to profit on clueless customers!
Apple just replaced all their forst gen ipods with the latest gen ipod based on battery issues. Verizon could do the same with folks who bought this phone. The consumer could type in teh serial number then Verizon/Samsung could send out a comparable phone that works. Yes, we get to keep the phone until we get a new one. Verizon has LG and Pantech that seem to work so why not let us replace our Samsung for one of these at a Verizon store and "no questions asked"? How about a touch screen phone that requires a data plan but we do not get to activate the data plan portion of the phone. How about we keep the phone you do not charge for ANYTHING until the contract is up. The fix simple but emails and promises only are a way to stall the consumer hoping they will go away. I do plan to "go away" if I do not get resolution.

    I honestly think the OP is making the correct decision to quit using Firefox due to all the print-related problems and Bugs that are in Firefox, '''that Mozilla doesn't want to fix'''. And there are more Bugs that affect only the Mac-platform (like the one where the user has to open a page in a new window for the 2nd web page printed from that window), than there are on Windows and Linux.
    Users having to reset hidden preferences repeatedly isn't a cure.
    The same 3 print-related Bugs in 2002 that caused me to take 6 months to switch over to ''Phoenix'' from IE 5.5, '''are still present in Firefox!''' I print nothing from Firefox these days without viewing Print Preview first, then about 10% of the time I do a "View in Opera" and do a Print Preview there - which shows a good print out 95% of the time (which IMO shows the page isn't at fault), and print it from Opera.

  • How long until they fix iMessage and FaceTime?

    As I understand it I'm on of MANY people who are experiencing problemw with iMessage and Facetime. How do we know what the priority is to fix it? Is there an estimated time when it will be fixed?

    Not sure what is being fixed as FaceTime and iMessage work fine for me with iOS 7...have used both multiple times every day since upgrading.

    I have already tried all the things mentioned above as well as other things such as other browsers etc.  Its is obviously a problem with the hardware.  I also borrowed a brand new 4th gen iPad and it does the same thing.  Even after upgrading it to 6.01.  An occasional crash is one thing and can easily be waved off but this is clearly systemic and the problem appears to be related to graphical images and videos.  Both iPads are the 64gb versions, the only difference other than model is the iPad 1 has ATT cellular.  The new version is clean i.e no other APPs loaded other than what came with it.  I have 7 more coming but im seriously considering sending them back in favor of an Android tablet or the MS Surface.

    CallieGP: Your Samsung Brightside could very well be one of those "batch" phones that were defective when sold. It has nothing to do with the internet being blocked, either. The phone may be defective and Verizon refuses to issue new phones because they aren't any "new" ones that have been fixed or manufactured to actually work as marketed, as sold for profit. Verizon does not care about the customers who bought these alleged defective phones - they are too busy marketing and selling the higher priced smart phones.
    Check your calendar function. Do a test calendar event - set a test even for 3 different days and see if the calendar function works. If it epic fails, then you most likely have a defective phone from the original batch. Verizon won't refund your money and it will try to give you a "certified like new" Samsung Brightside which is a used phone that is most likely from the original defective batches that were mass produced, marketed and sold to the unsuspecting and "sucker" public. Let me know about your calendar, please. The more people that state they have a problem(s) with the Samsung Brightside, the more defense i have to bring a lawsuit against Verizon. But it will counter with "oh, it's the manufacturer's problem" even though Verizon continues to market and sell these phones for a profit. keep me posted!

  • Samsung brightside not connecting to computer properly.

    I am trying to get my samsung brightside to connect to my computer for data transfer and can't seem to get it to connect. I plug it in and it goes to charging mode, this is telling me that 1 my cable is good and 2 my ports on my computer are good (I also plug it into another computer and it does the same thing). I checked the USB Mode in settings >USB Mode and made sure it says USB Mass Storage still nothing. I also made sure that im on the "home" screen when im plugged in. the last thing I should mention is that this has worked before.

    I must not be clear enough in my description as to what is going on. Or you guys don't understand windows all that much. when you plug in any memory device you are able to see the device in "My computer"

    now when I plug my phone in having it on USB Mass storage as advised here (your site's instructions where down when I posted this) the phone is not showing up in the screen above as shown below. my phone is only charging when plugged into my computer. and I have plugged it into different computers with the same results.
    How can I fix this so I can get at the micro SD card that I do have inserted and to be able to see the Phone again.

  • Tablet Trade In Denied For Not Buying Samsung Tablet at the Same Time

    They were going to process my tablet (not in system, so it will be processed as a recycle), but told me to go get the Samsung tablet so they can process everything together. When I said I don't need to buy that tablet now, they insisted that it only works if I buy the tablet.     There is no way around the activation lock. You apparently decided to use the phone with someone else's ID set up for an iCloud (and find my iPhone) account before updating. Since Find My iPhone was active, updating to iOS 7 has automatically turned on the activation lock. If you do not have the Apple ID and password that were previously used, then the phone is now useless. You can't activate it without that informaion.
    Talk to whoever you bought the phone from if you can. If you can't, buy a new phone.

    I recently changed my email address and want to change my Apple ID account to match. I have created a new Apple ID to match the new account but now I can't sign into iCloud on our phones or computer with the old Apple ID. I can't make any changes on iCloud on our phones because it directs me to the old account, which I can't sign into. I also can't sign me in on my computer to make any changes. Help!!!   • AS Java sessions are not closed until they time out

    Hello Experts,
    we have a SAP PI system to integrate SAP R/3 with external applications and recently we are facing a problem with inactive sessions. There's a new application we are setting up that consumes a webservice published by this SAP PI system. The scenario is SOAP --> PI --> PROXY. What we have noticed is that when the application sends loads of requests sometimes the system fails. This is because we are reaching the maximum number of open sessions in AS Java (1000). Investigating a bit more we found out that the sessions are not "closed" once the communication between the application and SAP PI has finished. Those sessions are open until they are automatically timed-out by the system after 1800 sec.
    We have found the notes below in SAPNet:
    Note 1363751 - ICM: Java Web sessions are not terminated
    Note 1307940 - New HTTP session opened for every web service call
    However, none of them are applicable to our system because it is more updated:
    SAP PI 7.1 EHP1 SP002
    Kernel Patch Level: 87
    We have tried to close connections from the application that consumes the webservice but with no success. The sessions remain in the server until they are timed-out. Could you please tell us if this is the normal behavior of an AS Java system? Is this the way it should work? If so, can you tell us how to decrease this timeout so the inactive sessions are cleaned faster? We tried to find it but we didn't manage. Is there any way to close the session once the communication has finished?

    Hi Roger,
    You can do the following things to help solving your issue:
    1. Decrease session timeout default value of the web container: Use the NetWeaver Administrator
    Open Application Modules plugin within NWA
    Configuration Management -> Infrastructure -> Application Modules
    Set the desired timeout web module you are using, in minutes.
    The default value 0 in the NWA means that the value is not modified
    and the default value of 30 minutes timeout will be used.
    2. Increase the max. no. of Sessions in Configtool
    The max. number of Sessions can be set in Configtool in the Expert
    mode. There is no limitation for the parameter.

I also tried transferring my files over to my pc first, then reformatted the sdcard, then transferred to the appropriate files back onto the sdcard and put back into samsung.

        Thanks for the info SuzyQ. lorsa, the community is correct, pictures and videos can be saved differently on other phones. What phone did you remove the SIM card from? Where did you purchase your SIM card from? Your previous phones SD card and format may not be compatible with your Brightside device. I show you advise that you reformated your memory card but make sure the files are saved correctly. Listed below are the different type of files you can save, receive, and view for pics and videos with your device.
    Files that are compatible with the Brightside device:
    JPEG (*.jpg, *.jpeg, *.jpe)
    BMP (*.bmp)
    PNG (*.png)
    GIF (*.gif)
    3G2 (*.3g2)
    3GP (*.3gp)
    MPEG4 (*.mpg)

  • Participant assigned roles not refreshed until they log to workspace

    We are using Oracle BPM 10.3.1 with latest hotfix with Hybrid LDAP eDirectory 8.8 SP5 (supported).
    If we restart the engine and ask via java or pbl for participants with a specific role, the query does not returns info. But if those users start to login to their workspaces, the query starts to include those participants in the result. One side problem of this, is that after every engine restart, users do not keep recieving mail notifications about the processes they are in, until they login to their workspace at least once.
    Any clues ? This is happening since we made this installation. We recently installed last hotfix, but the problem persists.

    After applying SP12 in the portal landscape (EP 6.0), the role transports only work in our test environment, but not in production.  Even the manual corrections suggested in OSS note 1002832 didn't help.  I can preview all the iviews in the roles with my user id (admin id), but as soon as I log-in with the end user id nothing shows up [Not even the top level navigation tabs show up].  The following is the portal authorization methodology I chose.
    1. I assign users to the user groups
    2. I assign user groups to the roles
    I want to emphasize that all is well in our test environment, it is the production environment that shows inconsistency.  Let me know if anyone has any pointers.

    Frankly, you should be restoring the laptop as new, either using the restore CD provided by Toshiba or by reinstalling Windows with a Windows CD to remove ALL of her personal information.

    My friend is trying to purchase an IAP on Adobe Photoshop Express, however they get an error saying "Can not buy this item. You must buy the application to which this item is intended to buy the item" when they try to make an In app Purchase". Everything other app is working fine.
    Any thoughts/suggestion to make this error go away?

    I suggest trying the update again after an hour or two.  Sometimes, the notice that an update is available comes an hour or two before the developers actually sends the revised app out to be downloaded.

    it was not broken due to drop..we charged it and afterwardse we saw that there was a crack..if we drop it i think it will not only have a one small line...but anyway the authorized resseller facilitated the reporting of the complain of our ipad2...i think they have it pictured and send it to the apple.com...apple.com replied that my case is approved and still under warranty...they send it to the Authorized apple repair center...
    I actually got a brand new ipad2...they replaced a new one..but they charged me for the FREIGHT for the reason that i did not buy it in their APPle store...that i bought it on Apple online...
