SAMSUNG CLX-216x Problem-Doesn't work. Won't show in printer set-up utility

I have just purchased - yesterday afternoon in fact - a new Multi-Function SAMSUNG Color Lazer MFP CLX-216x - 3 in one Printer, Scanner, Copier.
Although I was assured by the salesman that it would be compatible with a Mac, and it says as much on the box, I am experiencing problems which I have never experienced before when installing printers.
After setting up the printer and turning it on I installed the drivers on my Macintosh MacBook Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo processor Running System OX.4.11). The printer is connected to an Apple AIRPORT with a USB Cable.
However, my systems printer set up utility cannot seem to find the installed driver. Nor can it find the printer when connected directly to the MacBook
I have tried the following.
1. Uninstalling the software and re-installing it.
2. Downloading drivers from the SAMSUNG website and installing them + updates of the other software (after uninstalling the older versions)
3. Connected directly with a USB cable to the laptop
4. Searched the manual and SAMSUNG website but can not find any help.
Would you have any suggestions.
Should I take the printer back as I've only just bough it.

Hello William,
When you have the printer connected directly to the MBP via USB, and you select to Add the printer, do you see the printer in the Default browser view? If you do not, then you may have a faulty USB cable or a faulty machine.
To check the hardware, you can open System Profiler (Applications > Utilities) and look under the Hardware > USB view. The printer should be shown on one of the USB buses. If you do not see it, then I would try another USB cable first off. It could prove to be a quick fix, and if this is not the problem then it never hurts to have a spare USB cable.

I would suspect this is a hardware issue. The rollers are probably having issues picking up the relatively smooth thick media. You might have better results be cleaning the paper pickup rollers with a damp paper towel. Also make sure the paper is snugly loaded and the paper guides have been correctly positioned.

Regardless the CD issue, I affraid that the printer is incompatible with Leopard (OS X 10.5) but require OS X 10.6 or a later version.

I would suggest upgrading your operating system or contacting the retail and replace it with another model which is compatible with your operating system.

Why do we have to install 2 add ins for something that should be built in? Please add this to the next version or an update to this one even. You will need to upgrade your suite of MS programs.
Older suites, like MS Office 2004, use program versions written for Macs with PPC processors. In order to use those apps in pre-Lion OS's on an Intel-processor machine, it was necessary to install Rosetta, software designed just for the purpose of using PPC-apps on an Intel machine.
Unfortunately, Lion does not support Rosetta, so those apps no longer work.
Solution - update them to a version which will work in Lion, such as the MS Office 2008 suite, or newer if available.

My problem is the ipad won't show up in itunes.

I have Windows, the ipad appear on my computer but in itunes does not appear, since uninstalled it and went back to itunes install, i restarted the apple mobile device services, programs already set up the startup of windows and nothing works, the ipad is with the last update ...

you said you uninstalled iTunes. Did you follow this article?

because iTunes also installs other components and when removing and re-installing, you have to remove the components in the exact order otherwise it usually doesn't resolve the issue, and sometimes make it worst!
also make sure: you're using the correct ipad usb cable and plugging it on the back of the computer (not the front usb)
next step if it doesn't work would be to try to create another windows user (administrator) and try the ipad on that one, sometimes it works like that.

Compressor doesn't work/won't install after FCP5 install

We recently "upgraded" one of the G5s in our lab to Final Cut Pro 5 from FCP HD 4.5 (these were both Academic versions if that matters, so it's not really an upgrade, you buy a new license at academic pricing). I don't remember which we did first, but we also upgraded this machine to Tiger at the same time.
The guy that does most of the video work on this machine reported to me that compressor wasn't working. That it would launch and crash, and sure enough it does. So I did some investigating, and the version of Compressor that appears to be installed on the system is 1.2.1, but doesn't Compressor 2 come with Final Cut Pro 5 (or is it just Studio)? I tried to reinstall from the disk and and on the install screen where it lists the packages to install (the 'Custom Install on "Macintosh HD"' screen), Compressor shows up as unchecked, greyed out and with "Skip" in the Action column. I've even tried removing Compressor from the Applications folder and that doesn't seem to make a difference. Is there any way for me to force the installer to install the version of Compressor on the Final Cut Pro 5 disk?
Something seems to be messed up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

OK, it took some fiddling, but I got Compressor to install correctly. First I tried the instructions Apple has here:

So then I found this page with a brief article on "Tricks to install Compressor 2 on G3 Mac":

Not very descriptive, but I basically had to make a local copy of the Compressor package from the Final Cut Pro Install disk, then go in and remove the InstallerCheck and VolumeCheck files and then manually install that package by itself.
I did a reinstall of FCP5 from the disk for good measure after that, and then a software update. It still says "Skip" for Compressor vs. "Update" for everything else when you are in the FCP installer. Everything seems to be working fine now though.
This seems like a serious problem in Apple's Final Cut Pro 5 installation package (at least for the academic version and whatever sequence of steps got us into this state).

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

Worker Role problems (doesn't work without debugging)

I upgraded the OS Version up to 3 last week and everything worked OK. But yesterday worker role stopped working. Windows Azure manager showed that service started up OK. I tried to find problem in code and found out that Worker Role works just great during
the debug only.

Thank you for advice. I copied the exact connection string from the Azure Management Portal and Worker Role started to work.
Old connection string was:
connectionString="Data Source=xxx.database.windows.net;Pooling=false;Initial Catalog={dbName}; User ID={userName}; Password={password};"
The new one is:
connectionString="Server=tcp:xxx.database.windows.net,1433;Database={dbName};User ID={userName}@xxx;Password={password};Trusted_Connection=False;Encrypt=True;Connection Timeout=30;"
Anyway sometimes (very rarely... once in a 2-3 hours) I get next error:
"System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL
Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed

Purchase billed several times and report a problem doesn't work

Hello I was trying to get 1 month subscription to a newspaper, got an error during the process. Now in the purchase history I see that the my purchase billed 5 times. Tried to follow the steps to report a problem, but when I click on the "report a problem" link next to the purchase it sends me to the iTunes Support page on the browser. Anybody knows what to do to get my money back?

Same problem here, also on Snow Leopard, but I am not planning to move to Lion (I have it on another Mac and it doesn't seem worth upgrading to me...).

IPhone 4 just turned off, power button doesn't work, won't charge

I was using my phone and it had 30% left, when I went to use it again it was unresponsive, won't turn on. I tried plugging it in and that does not turn it on either. Unfortunately my top power button does not work so I can't reset it and a computer won't recognize it, can anything be done to fix it or at least recover numbers and photos?

To fix it you need to get the sleep button fixed.
No way to recover photos or data from a non responsive iphone.

Samsung 19" Analog LCD doesn't work?

I got a great (maybe) price on a Samsung SyncMaster 914v. I plug it into the OEM Rage card and it works, but isn't very crisp. Other discussion thread indicated I needed a better card, so I bought an ATI Radeon 9200. I plug in the monitor and the G4 sounds like it is booting, but the screen is black.
I tried plugging the monitor into a PowerBook and got the same results.
Anybody have any thoughts/help?

There is only one OS driver for the card at ATI. The release notes say only for machines running 10.3.6.
Theres is a ROM update from 2004. I bought the card on ebay and it had been flashed with the latest.

Satellite A100 Hibernate / Standby wake up problems (doesn't work!)

Hi,
I have a Toshiba A100 Satellite PSAARA-055007 with Win XP Home SP3 and current updates.
For the life of me, I cannot get this machine to successfully wake up from standby or hibernate!
It goes into hibernate and standby just fine, but when you try to power it back up or take it out of hibernate or standby it seems to start waking up and then it just hangs without the display ever powering up. The only option is to hard boot the system.
So at present Standby or Hibernate do not work at all.
Anyone? Please help!

You are using Win XP?
In such case you should check the Toshiba Power Saver tool.
First of all you should reinstall this utility. As far as I know the Toshiba Power Saver controls the hibernation and standby mode
But of course; this could not be related power saver but windows in such case just an new installation might be helpful
