Samsung galaxy III

My son has a samsung galaxy III. When he calls someone his phone comes up on the caller ID has my name and on my phone and my daughter's phone it comes up as just the phone number. He doesn't like this is there anyway that we can change it so  just  the phone number comes up. We just all got new phones. Our old phones all just come up on the caller ID with just the phones numbers

  • Cannot send an MMS with Samsung Galaxy III

    Highly frustrating.
I have turned on mobile data, turned on wi-fi, restarted it and it still doesn't want to send. The send circle just keeps going around and around, for hours! I have 2GB worth of data so it shouldn't be a problem. Can anyone tell me how to make it work because I really have no desire to drive up to Verizon, don't have the time. The phone is less than a week old. >.<

    No luck..>.<
Perhaps I was doing it wrong. I took out the battery and held down the power button for 10 seconds. Then figuring I read it wrong, I took out the battery, let it sit for 30 seconds, put it back in and held the power button. Just powered on like usual. I really want to be able to send picture messages...>.<

  • Does Samsung Galaxy III phones recognized WiFi that does not broadcast SSID?

I recently purchased Samsung Galaxy III phone.  At home, I turned on WiFi SSID broadcast on the router to set up phone to connect to router.  I then turned off SSID broadcast on router, and phone no longer connects to WiFi.  I understand security is better when SSID is not broadcasting, but this phone will not connect now.  Apple products connects just fine.  Why will the phone not connect to a router that does not broadcast SSID event when the information is programmed into the phone?

what revision Actiontec do you have, can you check the service Tag?   it will say REV A, B, C, D etc.....
Also you can verify you are doing the right one by logging in at www.verizon.com/repair and clicking "

  • Samsung Galaxy III software update.

My phone is asking me to update the Samsung Galaxy III for software updates. Should I do this or is it a spam?

After the update, I spent an hour an hour or two setting all my ringtones back to the way they were before the update, turning my notification tones back on, turning off the camera flash when my phone rings, etc.  What a pain that was.  But my bluetooth was still flaky.
So after researching the forums, I found this "quick and easy" solution which seemed to have worked:
TrumpetWarrior Jan 8, 2014 2:27 PM (in response to Incredible-vzw)
OK, I fixed mine, and thought I would post to everyone interested.
I have a Samsung GS3, and got the update 2 days ago. The update reset several things I didn't notice before, like I had to download and install swift key, and some other apps, but nevertheless, this is what I did.
    On the GS3 Phone:
    1) Settings > About Phone > Device Name and changed the name of my phone back to the name I like to use. This will show up on the car (Sync) as the BT device. My wife and I have the same phone and cannot tell the difference if they are both the same name. The update had changed it back to the default name.
    2) Settings > Bluetooth , While the BT is turned on, click on the Sync setting icon on the right and pick Un-pair the sync device,
    3) Turn off BT, and go under Settings > Application Manager. Scroll to the right until you get to "All". Scroll down til you see Bluetooth Share. Force stop, Clear cache and Clear Data.
    4) Shut your phone down, and take the battery out.
On the Car: I have a Ford Escape 2014 with Sync.
Basically, you will have to do a factory reset, but on mine, it didn't hurt or lose anything.
    1) Mine was under Settings > System > Factory Reset (May take 5 mins)
    2) Put your phone battery back in and boot up your phone and turn on bluetooth
    3) Once the Ford Sync has booted up, add the device and just follow the instructions on the screen and pair the phone back up. Your phone may prompt you for access to your contacts and to download your contacts. Be sure to click the don't show again and click OK
Mine works even better than before!! Text messages are coming in again, and the Bluetooth media stereo is working again too. Pandora is awesome over Bluetooth.
On the Ford Sync, the only thing I had to set back was the Voice command under settings (I like the advanced option so she does not repeat everything I say) , and under the phone settings for my GS3, I turn on 911, and I set the ring tone to text to speech. I like it to announce who is calling rather than the ringer. And that is it!
You might could get away with less steps, but this is what I did and it was minimal. Better than trying to factory rest your phone or something.
    Good Luck!

  • Samsung Galaxy iii help

Hi, i am new to the Galaxy iii world and I am facing a problem of not receiving pictures being sent in a message format, all it is saying is downloading but I can receive the attached text.
Can anyone advise me on the quick fix?

Is your cellular data turned on?  Picture texts will not send/receive over wi-fi.  On some phones people have to turn off wi-fi to get it to work correctly (a pain, I know, but it is what it is).

  • Texting to a Samsung Galaxy III

I have an iPhone 5 and my friend a Samsung Galaxy 3. I recieve her texts but she doesn't get mine. We had this problem a few years ago when she had the galaxy2 and I got an iPhone 4S. It seemd to work itself out. About a month ago her G2 started to die and she did'nt recieve my text. We thought her updating her phone would fix the problem, but it didn't her new G3 still doesn't recieve my texts. I am the only person she doesn't recieve texts from. I have restarted my iPhone, erased and re-entered her number, and tried turning off my iMessage. Anyone have any other ideas

This worked for me and my wife (samsung s3 and iphone 4). download Kies3 from samsung website, back up s3 onto a pc and then do a factory reset on the phone. Then restore backup from PC and it should be back to normal.

  • Samsung Galaxy III vs Razr vs Droid 4

I am looking to upgrade from my Droid 2 and am considering the S3, Razr, and Droid 4.  I have always had a physical keyboard and am having a hard time letting go, hence the Droid 4.  Playing around with the 3 of them yesterday, I am moving toward eliminating the Droid 4, because of the screen size mainly.  I think I am on the fence between the S3 and the Razr.  The salesperson at the Verizon store told me the battery life for the Razr is pretty inferior to the other phones  I am really struggling with this, because I like all 3.  Anyone have any thoughts on this comparision?

    AZSALUKI wrote:
just my opinion, but the siii is the best phone out right now, hands down. don't bother with the razr. if you like it, then you REALLY need to get the razr maxx. the maxx has a MUCH better battery and it's the same phone. the siii has a removable battery and micro sd slot so if you ever need more juice or memory, you have it. the maxx does not have a removeable battery and while the battery is VERY impressive, my experience is that over time, no battery holds a charge like when you buy it. in a year, you can replace the siii battery (and keep a second one just in case, if you want). can't do it with a razr maxx. again, it's all opinion and preference, but i'd go with the siii.
edit: also, you can get the 16 gig version and save some $$. then use that $$ to go buy a 32 gig sd card. much more total storage for the same price as buying a 32 gig version.
    This just about covers it.

  • Verizon Customer Service and Samsung Galaxy S III

A little over 3 weeks ago I purchased a Samsung Galaxy III phone from Verizon.
    The exact store is:
    224 North Weber Road,
    Bolingbrook, IL 60440
    (630) 226-4660
When I purchased the phone the person who sold me the phone told me that I had 30 days, If I was not completely satisfied with the phone I could return it and get my money back.  However, he assured me that I would LOVE my new phone.
I had just come off using a Blackberry for 4 years with no problems AT ALL!  I loved that phone, but I thought it would be nice to get up to the 21st century phone standards and get a touch screen phone.  Well, I went for the best…… or so I thought.
As soon as I got my new phone in the car, I started using the speaker phone hands free.  The speakerphone began to cut in and out and the person, my husband whom I most speak with could not understand what I was saying.  I used the speakerphone on my Blackberry without issue.  I did not think much of it because I was so happy to have my new phone.  I thought maybe I was just in a bad area etc… Well the issue persisted also when I called my bank, my husband’s mother, my mother and it did not matter where I was the speaker phone did not work properly.  Then my phone started to drop calls.  Again, I thought it may have been the area, but it started happening a lot.  So now I was really beginning to wonder.  Having though I was still under the 30 DAY warranty, I gave it a few more days.  I began having to take out the battery to reset the unit because apps where disappearing and when I went to re-install them the unit indicated that app was already on my phone and wanted to know if I would like to uninstall the app.  I had to once again take out the battery and have the unit restart.  Well, I could not take it anymore.  With all of the things going wrong only a couple of weeks after purchase, I had to go into the store and see what they could do for me.  I went in and explained my situation to the manger who was greeting people at the door, I think her name was Katie or something like that.  She put me in line on her IPad just like everyone else for someone to assist me.  I was assigned to a very pleasant associate who took the battery out of my phone and said try this to see if this works for you.  I, not knowing very much about the technology said ok and walked out of the store.  Well it kept on getting worse.  I went back to the store on Sunday, September 30th 2012 asking for my money back or a new replacement for the phone.   They would not assist me. I started with a regular associate and went up the chain finally getting Katie (the store manager) who repeated everything that everyone else said.  So, obviously, she has no managerial skills at all.   She stated that they would have to totally reset my phone to see if some apps where conflicting etc.  Isn’t that what you purchase a Smartphone for??? To put apps on it and calendars etc.  I just downloaded a calendar and Xfinity because that is what I have my e-mail on.  I don’t’ think that was the issue, but you could not tell Katie anything.
I wanted a new phone replacement or money back as I spent $300.00 dollars on this phone.  She would not have it.  She said we have to go through the proper trouble shooting because I was out of the 14 day return policy!!!!.   OMGsh 14 days????  I was told 30!  Had I known this, I would have gotten my money back the first time I took the phone in for the issues I was having.  At that time, I was still under the 14 day policy!  I proceeded to express my opinion to everyone in the store stating “Don’t buy a Samsung Galaxy III” They are pieces of **bleep**. Well, needless to say Katie did not like that and she set my phone down in front of me and said, if I am going to swear, she is not going to help me.  Ok, then I re-worded my statement to tell everyone in the store “Don’t buy a Samsung Galaxy III they are pieces of garbage”  I cleaned it up a little, but still got my point across.  I also told her that I would blog about it and send a letter to the corporate office of both Samsung and Verizon.  I don’t think that she believed me, but here I am taking my time for this stuff.  Time I don’t have much of, but I feel very strongly about this situation.  I was lied to and Katie had the nerve to tell me that if I get a replacement phone from them, it would be a refurbished unit even though I just purchased the unit 3 weeks earlier.  THAT is unacceptable by any standards!!!
Needless to say I left the store totally dissatisfied with Verizon’s customer service and the Samsung Galaxy III phone.  I have not put any unusual apps on my phone nor have I downloaded a new calendar to my phone and I am still having the same issues with dropped calls and bad speaker phone.  I will not put any time into this phone for them to tell me they need to reset the whole darn thing again!  I am not going to bother going back to that Verizon store, because I know that they will not lift a finger to do anything about it.
My husband wants an IPhone 5.  We will not be purchasing this from Verizon and I will probably eat the cancellation fee and go through AT&T so that my husband can get his IPhone.  I will never purchase another thing from Verizon, this is not the first time that that they have let me down.
I hope that this letter, blog, facebook, YouTube note will open some eyes with regard to Verizon customer service and the Samsung Galaxy III phone.  I don’t know if it will, but with social media as it is, I hope it DOES!
    Thanks for nothing Verizon!!!
    Sincerely
    Donna {edited for privacy}

  • Is anyone having issues with Android version 4.3 for Galaxy III throwing in zeroes into text messages?

I received a message on Christmas Eve that a free update was available for my Samsung Galaxy III.  I accepted the download and discovered some enhancements and fixes that I liked (finally, my voicemail icon displays the number of waiting voicemails that I have!) but I've noticed to glaring issues:
    1. When I send text messages that include numbers (a phone number for example) the OS throws in random zeroes into the number.  I have to usually touch the ENTER key and type the number on a new line and play around with it until the number stays in the message correctly.
    2. I've had occasional lockups using the media hub which, when I do a restart, causes my settings to revert to the default factory settings....kind of a pain.
    There may be other issues.
    Q. Has anyone out there experienced this same thing?
    Q. Is Google going to fix these issues?  I noticed that on Christmas day a half dozen or so updates were made, but these to things still are a problem.
    Q. Also, the Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant on my laptop insists that my version is not supported.  I can still access photos and music, but it's a little annoying...

I'm sorry you're having issues with your phone after your update BigLouie1124. I recommend enabling safe mode to see if any of your apps are causing issues with your new software. If so, you can remove them. Here are the steps http://vz.to/1cD0kqT . If you continue to have issues the last step would be a factory reset to clear up some of your issues http://vz.to/JCsr33 . • Samsung Galaxy S III Text Messaging Problems

My problem started 3 days ago. All of a sudden one of my contacts does not receive my text messages and I don't receive his. No error in sending comes up on my phone when I send a message to him he just simply doesn't get it. Its so weird because I don't have a problems with text messaging sending or receiving with any other contact. He has an AT&T iphone ios7 and I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III. We've both had these phones for months and never had a problem. We've tried turning our phones off and back on. We've both checked to see if one of us had blocked a number that wasn't the case. We've deleted each other as contacts and left the 1 at the beginning off or put it back in. He's reset his network settings and nothing! A few months ago when I switched from sprint to verizon I had a problem sending or receiving text messages from any one who didn't have verizon. The solution was turning my old and new phone off and then just turning on the new one. The problem was resolved. I was thinking this may be the problem but I hadn't ever had my old phone back on. So I tried the same thing anyway turning my old phone on and then both phones off and just turning the new one on. I still can't send and receiving text messages from him. I can call him and it works great. But this not being able to text him is getting really annoying! Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

        reggie9789,
I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with text messages on your device with one individual. If you have a long thread of text messages with this individual I would erase the thread and try sending a brand new message, where you type in the number (not from the contact). Make sure that you have removed the battery out of your device and try again as well. I am confident this will help your texting issue.

  • Samsung Intensity III – what do I think about this phone

There is nothing good in the basic phones. If I don’t like touch screen and I have passed the flip phone era, then there are in fact only two (2) phones offered by the Verizon: LG Cosmos 2 and Samsung Intensity III.
Are these phones any good? I don’t think so. The quality of these phones is not even close to the quality of basic phones that we had in the past.
I am the owner of Samsung Intensity III. I “upgraded” my old Samsung Sway (4 years without any problems) to Samsung Intensity III, and I was experiencing any kind of issues – issues, which I never had with my four (4) previous phones (diff models). The time that I spent with VZW tech support and the store employees in three weeks was much greater than the time spent during the last 10 years. Yah!
Since this is the third Samsung Intensity III in three weeks, I think that I could give honest opinion based on facts.
I had to replace the phone twice for different reasons.
With the first phone, I was experiencing very poor signal, drop calls and terrible sound.
With the second phone, after first night in standby mode, the battery was almost discharged. The battery and the charger have been replaced. On the same day, I spent hours with VZW tech support to fix cracking voice and windy noise in the background. At the end I was told that it might be a problem with the phone and I should go to the store and replace the phone.
The phone was replaced. The cracking voice and windy noise is gone but I still have a weak signal and I hear from the callers that sometimes my voice sound like I was distant from the phone.
    I had no problem with:
    1. Setting the alarm
    2. Setting the bluetooth
    3. Transferring the pictures and contacts from the phone to my PC
This phone is very poorly designed with the following issues:
    1. The keys (on the front panel) are so small that is very difficult to touch one key without touching another.
    2. The orange color of the symbols on the keyboard made the symbols hard to read.
    3. VERY small pictures. According to the phone specification: “Display 2.4 inches”. I wonder how it was measured, when the actual width is less than 2" and height approx 2”. But to see the picture in this size, you must set the picture as wallpaper. Otherwise the size of the picture, in the ‘full view’ is only 1 1/2” x 11/8”.
    4. The back cover is made so cheap that I am afraid that I can break after a few openings.
    5. Poor signal (in comparison to my 4 previous phones that I used in the same location)
Why ALL the basic phone models must be slim? I don’t might to have a phone 1” wider.
There is no variety of choices on the design front. I think that most of the basic phone users could prefer to have a phone in the size of the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy, just to have a bigger numbers and a bigger screen size.
So far, it look like the Samsung Intensity III could be the worst cell phone I have owned.
I just don’t understand the phone manufacturers. Why do they cease production of a good quality phone, only to replace by piece of crap?

    Junk.
I picked up an Intensity III a couple weeks ago to replace a perfectly good LG Venus that Verizon doesn't want to support any longer. The Samsung appeared to successfully pair with all the Bluetooth devices I tried (3 different headsets (two from LG and one from Samsung) and one vehicle (2011 Hyundai Sonata)), but would not successfully connect with any of them. Samsung's technical support people said I should refer the problem to the Bluetooth device manufacturers, because it wasn't Samsung's responsibility to make their device work with any particular other device. I thought there were "standards" for things such as Bluetooth, to try and insure these types of problems don't happen. I thought it was likely there was something wrong with the particular handset I had and Verizon's technical support people tended to agree with me. But I didn't like Samsung's "blame someone else" attitude and so I exchanged the Intensity III for a somewhat identical feature-wise LG Cosmos 2 last week. So far, except for hanging each night when Backup Assistant runs, the Cosmos 2 is working well and according to those I've talked to and asked, sounding better.

  • Can I use a samsung galaxy cord to charge my Iphone?

I have a samsung galaxy and want to only carry 1 cord when I travel. Can I use the samsung USB cable to charge my Iphone? they look the same but I don't want to try if Someone is sure it will hurt my phone.

No, they do not look the same.  Open your eyes and take a 2nd look.
The iPhone cable connects to the iPhone via Apple's proprietary dock connector.
The cable for the galaxy connects via an industry standard microUSB cable.
