Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.2 Update

When will Verizon approve the Android 4.2 update for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?  The slowness of Verizon to approve updates is inexcusable!  And to that I'll say, "I'm done!"  I am so disgusted with Verizon and their inability to provide updates to what is supposed to be a "Nexus" device.  It's not like they have to manipulate around manufacturer software.  It's pure Google operating system.  Load and test the drivers for CDMA and LTE and then launch the update.  At the MOST that should take no more than 2 weeks!  Since I have had my Nexus on Verizon, I have not recieved a single update prior to 2 months!  Android 4.2 update from Android 4.1 is so miniscule and, might I add, required no additional new drivers, so what is the hold up Verizon?  Where is the Android 4.2 update?  And, yeah, I know some techy out there is going to say, " well why don't you just jailbreak and load it yourself?"  Because I shouldn't HAVE to jailbreak my phone.  It's not a matter of can I do it, it's why can't I do it without jailbreaking from Verizon?  They sold this phone initially by claiming it to be a "pure Nexus" device and it's been nothing of the kind ever since!  So I say, "I'm done!"  That means that when my contract is up, I'm return to AT&T!  They have upgraded the towers in the area that I live and my friends on AT&T say their signals are even better than Verizon's.  AT&T's new LTE towers download at faster speeds than Verizon's too.  I would have happily stayed with Verizon if they would have only taken the Pure Nexus experience seriously!
To those who have stated that I've said this for Jelly Bean 4.1, you are correct!  The only reason I'm still here is because of the hefty penalty Verizon will charge me for terminating my contract early.  My contract doesn't expire until December 2013 so it would be a rather hefty penalty to pay.  But Android 4.2 has confirmed that Verizon refuses to change their position on slow updates, so when my contract is up (as I believe I stated on 4.1), you won't see REDNIBKRAM on Verizon anymore!
It appears as though the Verizon "love freaks" just can't seem to get the message.  I'm not saying that the updates aren't difficult, I'm saying that if Verizon chooses to use CDMA technology over GSM and that requires them to jump through hoops to get updates completed, then they should have NEVER agreed to carry a "pure Nexus" device, or at the very least, should have NEVER advertised the device as such.  My whole point is that Verizon LIED TO ME and told me that my phone was a "pure Nexus" device when I purchased it and switched from a GSM phone company (AT&T) when, in fact, they knew that I would NOT be getting updates directly from Google as the GSM versions of the SGN do.  At the very least, if Verizon really wanted to make this right, they would offer to allow anyone with a SGN phone who was lied to when they purchased it to exit from their existing contract without penalty, so we can purchase a "TRUELY PURE NEXUS" phone direct from Google or provide us with a choice of another phone (Windows Phone, iPhone, etc.) without having to renew a 2 year contract.
All I'm saying is that if Verizon won't or can't update the phones they themselves advertised as a "pure Nexus" phone, then they should make it right to the people they lied to.

I didn't go back to AT&T for JB in August because the of VERY HEFTY penalty I will have to pay for cancelling my contract early and I got the Android 4.1 JB update.  Once I received the update and because the the penalty, I decided to give BIGRED another change at the next update.  I thought, "maybe it was such a huge update that they really needed to make sure everything was done right."  So, now here we are waiting for the 4.2.1 update and I'm still getting the same response from BIGRED as I got for JB 4.0 update.  It's quite clear that VZ DOESN'T CARE about customer satisfaction.  They use the excuse that they want their network to be the best and they want their phones to operate with little or no problems, yet when problems ARE discovered, it takes them months to send out the updates that Google has already released months prior.  I have discussed updates with Verizon, Google and Samsung support personnel.  I have even contacted Verizon Corporate and I fully understand the process by which updates are done, and believe me when I say that the update process at VZ is in serious need of restructuring.  Especially when it comes to Android devices.  But as far as this Android 4.2.1 update is concerned, I have spoken with Google and they have informed me that there was NO changes made to the operating system that would affect the CDMA or LTE drivers on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus, so there should be no reason why Verizon would not want to release the update.  The small changes (additions) to the operating system would in no way affect the communications on VZ.  So why hasn't VZ released this update yet.  Corporate says they need to test the software to ensure it doesn't affect communications on their network, yet Google hasn't changed anything in the operating system that would, so what are they testing?  VZ may have the better network, but CARRIER EXPERIENCE ISN'T ALL ABOUT THE BEST CONNECTION.  It's about customer SATISFACTION and not receiving updates on a pure NEXUS device in a timely manner is inexcusable and in NO WAY SATISFYING!  So when my contract is up, I will be returning to AT&T or giving T-Mobile a try on a pure Nexus device with no contract!

  • Can't view pictures on Samsung Galaxy Note3 since the new update!!

i have a samsung galaxy note 3.  Since this latest update, my phone is slower and I can't view pictures in my Gallery.  It takes forever to load and a notification window will appear asking if I want to Wait or iif I want to Close?!  Also, I've deleted a lot of apps and games from my phone thinking this was causing the issue and it's not.  It's still slow and can't view pictures.  I also checked my Storage to be sure and it has 15.74gb available space.  What is the problem?  PLEASE HELP!!!@

Let's get your phone running in prime condition once again, Ellemme. It's often times beneficial to clear app cache after an update. You may complete this option by heading into Settings > Storage > Cache Data. This may help the device in terms of the speeds that you're receiving.
I would also suggest running the device in Safe Mode after you clearing the cached data. http://vz.to/1mPm4uw

  • Firefox Crashes on Samsung galaxy note 8 after latest update

I just updated to the Latest version of Firefox on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Firefox now won't start and I keep getting 'Firefox has closed' messages, two messages follow one another and then the same happens every 5 to 10 minutes. As far as I know Firefox isn't even running. It's quite annoying as it keeps interrupting so am considering uninstalling until this is fixed.

Type about:crashes into the url bar, and copy the crash id's here.
you can also try uninstalling and reinstalling firefox

  • My Samsung Galaxy Nexus closes out in the middle of texting

I got the new Galaxy Nexus two days ago and have had several problems already.  Although I have been able to fix everything so far, the most recent issue that I am trying to fix occurs in the middle of texting.  While I am in the middle of composing a text, occasionally the phone will just completely close out and go to the main menu (where it almost always opens a new app).  How can I fix this?
    Thanks!
I had this happen to me too 3 times the other day. What I figured out is that when I was trying to press the spacebar, my thumb would be too close to the home screen button icon. I was actually pressing the spacebar and home screen button, causing the phone to leave the text app and go to the home screen.
Not saying this is why in your case, but something to look for. I remember reading this post, a couple of hours before it happened to me.
    Have a good day

  • Parental Controls on Samsung Galaxy Tab / Android

Hello I have Perental Controls enabled on the family Samsung Galaxy Tab (Teenager). This seems to stop YouTube working, either from the YouTube App or from a browser.  How can we get access to YouTube? There doesn't seem to be any way of adding sites to a white list on the Mobile version of F-Secure. Cheers

Hopefully someone else knows more and can help out here, but my thoughts are: The only thing that would make sense with having to allow all content types is that you actually can search for all those content types on YouTube, the same way you can search for anything on search engines like Google for example. So maybe you need to allow all content types because you probably can find all kinds of "bad" stuff there. This would make sense if Parental Control is unable to determine the content type of each video on YouTube. The content types are probably defined per web site only. I mean it either blocks or allows a web site, and that's it! There's no in between solution. I'm only speculating here but I'm afraid I might be right  As a comparison: is it possible to block/allow content types for Google searches? Like it's ok to search for drugs but not violence? I couldn't find a whitelist either when looking at the user guide. The only thing I can think of is to test and block one content type at a time and hopefully that way find out exactly which are required.

  • Samsung galaxy nexus camera not working

So all of a sudden my camera doesn't work. It tells me unfortunately gallery has stopped working. I went into safe mode still didn't work did a factory reset but even that failed. HELP!!

Generally, if a factory reset doesnt do the trick, there isn't much else you will be able to do to fix the issue. I have heard of this issue before, and the only workaround I've heard is to back up all your photos, perhaps to a computer using the Samsung Kies program, or drag and drop to desktop, and then delete them all from your phone's dcim file folder, then go and force stop the app, and try to download an alternate gallery app from the play store. Moderate rate of success on that. Or you could always look into getting a warranty replacement, since even an fdr didn't work.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 2 won't update code 410

I've been  having this problem since the update came out, May 1st I believe, my phone just will not update. I've done at least 3 or 4 factory resets. I think it's really important I get this installed too because I've noticed that since the update came out, and I haven't been able to get it, my data usage sky rocketed. I looked into it and realized that I'm now, all of a sudden, using my data when I'm at home connected to my WiFi. I found a previous question exactly like this for a different device and the answer to it was factory reset, which I too figured would fix it up, but did not. Does anyone know what I have to do to get my phone to take this update? This is not the first problem I have had with the phone, I've also had my contacts disapear, and google freeze constantly to name a few problems off the top of my head. Often my phones email says "sync error" I was told to factory reset to fix these problems too, which never did, I also was told to clear the cache which made no difference either. Any help would be much appreciated!

Having the ability to benefit from an update is important to us maralyn225. Let's work on the issues your having. The factory reset is our last resort to fixing functionality issues with a phone and I see you have done a few resets. What software is currently on your phone? From home screen, select apps ( located in the lower right), from the apps tab, select settings, select about phone, and view the build number. If you continue to have issues, we will need to review replacement options if you are still under warranty and no damage to your phone. I look forward to hearing from you.

  • How to unlock the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?

    Hey
I'm currently studying abroad in South Korea, and since I brought my phone with me, I thought that I would see about simply getting a sim card and using my phone while I am here. Is it possible to unlock the phone and/or does it need to be unlocked? I don't really know much about this sort of thing so I'm not even sure if it is possible for me to use it here. My dad bought the phone for me, so I'm pretty sure he bought it through Verizon. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • First week with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus

It didn't start well, but I now have a world class hand held device!  I received the phone by mail from Verizon.  The screen is unbelievable.  However, I had problems right away.  The phone overheated, signal coverage was weak, and battery life was unacceptably poor.  I called Verizon and they told me to bring the phone into a store for immediate replacement.  I went to the store and I left with a GREAT DEVICE!  The battery life is more than acceptable for a 4G phone.  The coverage has been just as wonderful as my prior phone (BB).  There are no overheating issues.   My corporate email and calendar sync perfectly.  My personal Google accounts sync perfectly as well.  I am just learning how to use this device.  I am very happy with it.

It is good to hear some good news regarding a sGnVz replacement.  Most replacements have not gone as well.  I almost had mine replaced at Best Buy, but the Geek Squad convinced me to wait until the upcoming firmware upgrade.  I'll be interested to hear if your second week will bring happiness and not another replacement.

I have since turned on the Wifi and have gone though two updates and the last being the JB update and it now appears to be trying to activate again. We shall see what happens.

4G phones activate via the SIM card. You never dial *228 to activate it. Put the SIM card in the phone and turn on the phone. The activation process will occur automatically.  I hope you didn't fry the SIM card from trying to activate the phone when you dialed that number.

  • Is Samsung Galaxy Ace compatible with Macbook Pro?

Hi everyone.  I am interested in buying a Samsung Galaxy Ace (Android 2.2 Froyo) but I dont have any idea if its Mac-compatible.  I tried searching the net for answers but can seem to find anything so far...
Hope you can help me with this issue guys...Thanks!

DavidGoodnight, I hope FoneSync for Android by Nova Media is the one you are looking for.  Their site says you just search for the app in the Android marketplace, install in your device and it wil just automatically download into your mac after syncing.  I haven't tried it myself because I have given up on buying the Samsung Ace because of compatibility issues but based on feedbacks from other users in this forum, this is the app you are looking for.
Here is the link for the app: http://www.novamedia.de/en/mac-fonesync-android.html. By the way, the app cannot be used to sync tablets running Android OS 3.x
I hope this answers your question.
