Samsung HMX/S10 - 50P

When exporting a file. Mov, the exported movie is jerky. I tried other exports and the result is always as bad.
It plays ok in iMovie, but not when I export the file. Take a look on the link below :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh_FdLe9SGk
Filmed in 1080/50i with samsung HMX/S10
I cant understand why it works in iMovie, and not when I export the file !!!
Thanx for help !

The Apple Intermedia Codec is the 'native' or preferred option for editing in iMovie and may not be the best option for playback on your computer or online. The pre-set options available under the Share menu > Export Movie gives you different size options Mobile/Medium/Large etc. And the output is usually an mp4 file (which has an extension of .m4v but can be renamed .mp4 easily without affecting anything). The quality of those .mp4 files might be good enough for you at the larger sizes and playback much more smoothly than the AIC file you have created already. Give it a try.

  • Samsung HMX-Q10 video choppy when uploaded to iMovie, HELP!

So, my 14 year old loves making videos with his friends. We got him a nice camera for Christmas in the Samsung HMX-Q10.
When he pulls it in to IMovie to edit, it is VERY choppy. All the research I did on the web suggested this camera would work great on a Mac. Now he's really discouraged and I'm pretty frustrated. Seems pretty ridiculous to me that we are even having this issue.
    Is it the Camera?
    Is it the program?
Is it the speed/memory/etc. of the computer?
Is the affordable Mac program out there that will either convert to an easier format or that he can use like iMovie?
My Computer info is as follows:
    iMac
    Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed 2 GHz
    # of Prcessors 1
    # of cores 2
    L2 Cache 4MB
    Memory 1 GB
    Bus Speed 800 MHz
If the system is too slow, can I make this computer faster?
    You help is appreciated.

I don't see that. To me, it looks the same quality as any YouTube video.
How do most YouTube videos look to you?

Does the Samsung HMX-Q10 camcorder work with a Mac? The box says the bundled software is not designed to work with a Mac. Some reviews talk about hooking the camcorder up to a Mac with a USB cable.

  • Samsung HMX H100P on iMac and iMovie ?

    Hi
I would like to buy a movie camera Samsung HMX H100P soon but I don't know if it's gonna work with my new iMac ?
It's not on the list of Apple, but the format is AVCHD so I should work, no ?
I've been looking for this information on the web, but never find a clear answer... Anyone have this camera and use it on Mac?
    cheers

I would assume that camera manufacturers are highly motivated to get on Apple's list of supported camcorders. If they are not on the list, I would take it is a red flag.

  • Is the Samsung HMX-W300 imovie compatible?

is the Samsung HMX-W300 imovie compatible?

This worked for us with some modification as the version of Quicktime 10 we have doesn't have send to iMovie.
Connect Samsung video camera to laptop
Open the the “video” folder on the camera and copy videos to your desktop.
Double click on the movie to open in quicktime.  Click on the box with the arrow on bottom right of the quicktime movie.  Scroll down and select "send to iTunes".  Select desired format (usually apple tv choice) and send to iTunes.
Open iMovie and go to FILE - IMPORT - MOVIES and browse to iTunes movies and select the correct video file from iTunes movie folder.
Once the video processes you can edit the video in iMovie ‘11

  • Using iMovie 09, when downloading video fromm Samsung HMX- H106SN, The video image is stretched. Anyone have an idea for a fix?

Using iMovie 09, when downloading video from Samsung HMX- H106SN, the video image in iMovie is stretched. I see no obvious way to adjust this in iMovie.  When played on HDTV directly from camera using HDMI, the video image is fine.  Is this a compatibility issue? Anyone have an idea for a fix?
    Thnx, olive.c

Thanks guys! Appreciate the help. Unfortunately I'm just not getting the same quality/file size/performance that I'm getting from the traditional Apple TV export option.
I did however find what I think might even be a better solution for anyone using a mono wireless mic system like myself... use what's called a 3.5mm stereo jack to 3.5mm mono plug adapter. They're only like $5 and not only convert the audio so it comes out of both speakers, but this is probably a better option cause now in post production (iMovie) the other tracks like music etc... are still in stereo.
Here's a link to the adapter on Tiger Direct... http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=93027 7&sku=C184-03174&srkey=3.5mm%20mono%20plug%20to%203.5mm%20stereo%20socket
    Hope this helps!

  • Samsung HMX-10 will not mount at Log & Transfer in FCP7

    Hi,
I'm trying to use Log & Transfer to encode my Samsung mpeg4 footage into pro res to use in fcp7.  The camera will apears on my computer and desktop, but when I navigate to it in Log & Transfer the files won't apprear in the window. If I go deeper than the root level an error comes up saying file stucture is not recognised.
I can do a work around using imovie locate the camera and encode into apple intermediate codec and then I can find and import these into fcp, but I'd rather be using pro res as I'm working with exisitng footage in this format.  I could reencode the mp4's using compressor and import them but this takes ages!  If anyone has any advice I'd be really greatefull - there are a few posts of people having similar problems but I can't find the solution.
    many thanks!

I am having the same issue at our school district. If i wipe out the account and network folder, then recreate it individually it works on both Mac and Windows. So definitely on the server end.

  • Samsung HMX-W300 Video Camera

Can the videos on this camera be imported into iphoto or imovie?

I don't see it on the list for iMovie support. Most work with iPhoto to import video.

  • Anybody having any luck w/ capturing footage from a Samsung HMX-H200??

Would love to know the settings?...Really trying not to use iMovie.
    Thanks in advance.

It doesn't work with Final Cut. You might be able to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the media. How you concert it depends on exactly what format you shot.

  • *NO* Samsung camcorder supported in iMovie 10?

I just upgraded to Mavericks and to iMovie 10.  Lo and behold, I see that NO Samsung camcorders are supported.  What the heck?  I've been using my Samsung HMX-H300BN in the previous version of iMovie with no issues.  Is there a reason NO Samsung camcorders are listed on the compatibility page?  Are there plans to add them?  Does camera support generally get added in subsequent releases?  It is really disheartening.  This is not an old camera at all.

any camcorder using AVCHD (or 'antique' miniDV) is supported by iMovie.
That list you're reflecting to, is only mentioning devices, Apple has tested.
Apple can not tewst ANY camera on the market.
There are also many popular cams from Sony, JVC, or Panasonic notl listed…
    … and 'Apple/Samsung'… hmmm?  rings a bell here …

  • Importing AVCHD video in .mp4 container from Samsung camcorder

    Hello anyone and everyone,
I recently purchased a new Samsung camcorder (Model: HMX-H100N) and wish to use Premier Pro CS4 to edit the resulting video. The camcorder records video to an SDHC card in 1080i avc1 in an .mp4 container (the exact specifications as shown in GSpot and MediaInfo below) which when I attempt to import into premiere a green square is displayed. I have tried several AVCHD 1080i as well as HDV 1080i presets none of which have resulted in anything other than the green square or "Format Not Supported" error messages. I'm running Windows 7 (x86) OS and have several codecs (filters) installed including ffdshow, CoreAVC, DivX 7 as well as the built in Microsoft DTV-DVD filter and the MainConcept (adobe2) H264/AVC decoder. During normal playback of the .mp4 file Windows Meida Player seems to use the built in Microsoft DTV filter and playback is flawless, I would assume that Premier is attempting to use the MainConcept filter which seems to be unable to decode the files. Any help is appreciated.

I have bought a Samsung HMX-H100NM for my son, and we have had the hardest time importing the video cilps in Adobe Premiere Pro.
Here is what I found so far:
    - If you check the video size on the "green square clips", it's completely bogus. It might be set to  4x13 instead of 1920x1080 for example.
    - There was a firmware update for the HMX-100N on the Samsung web site in late December 2009.  As of January 17, 2010, it is not there aymore.  I was told at the end of December 2009 that there would be a new firmware upgrade in January 2010, so maybe a new version is coming soon.
    - After upgrading the firmware (I'm not sure exactly what happened with the old firmware installed, except that importing didn't work at all), I find that I'm able to import some clips if I set the camera resolution to "fine" or "superfine".  The other resolution still gives me clips that I cannot import. When a clip import is successful, I can play the vide. However, if I save the project and reopen it, I will get "green squares" in lieu of some of the good clips. Rebooting the computer and reopening the same project might give me a different set of bad clips. I have reported this as a bug.
    - Just for the heck of it, we tried importing the same video clips in Adobe Premiere Elements and that worked just fine.
    In summary:
    1. Try setting your video resolution to "fine" or "super fine" in camera.
    2. Try using Adobe Premiere Elements.
    3. Pray that we get a fix in Premiere Pro soon.
    4. I'm looking for recommendation for a different video camera that will work "out of the box"
