Samsung HT-Z310 Help

I am lookiing into getting this system - wondering if anyone has comments or has this system.  I have read a few things not great about wireless surround sound - We don't know anything about it and don't want to make it harder than it has to be just to enjoy surround sound!!  I have also heard that wireless speakers can interfere with our Wireless internet.  Any suggestions would be great!  Here's the description:
Now there are more ways to enjoy your home theater system. Got an iPod? It also has a dock so you can listen to music from your iPod whenever you want. This home theater system is also wireless ready, so there's no need to hide wires or trip over them. Hear the amazing sound, enjoy more capabilities with the SAMSUNG HT-Z310. Now you can enjoy regular DVDs in brilliant high-definition resolution. 1080 up-conversion lets you take full advantage of your HDTV by sending high resolution signals to it. The result is lifelike, vivid visuals and crystal-clear details

Your signature in 1st post was 10.8.2.
    You went backwards?
Did you reformat and reinstall when you first purchased it?
If not I HIGHLY recommend you do that before you do anything else.

  • Images too dark on Samsung monitor - please help!

    We've just upgraded a Samsung 21" monitor to a Samsung 30" (305T).
In just TWO applications, Photoshop CS3 and Windows Photo Gallery (Vista64), all photographic images are much too dark. Not subtly, about 3-4 f-stops too dark.
EVERY other of our applications INCLUDING ADOBE BRIDGE AND FIREWORKS, and even Photoshop itself during Save to Web, displays the photos as they should appear.
I've tried setting various profiles in Windows Color Management as the default, including the ICC profile sRGB IEC61966-2.1 (which my reading says we should be using), as well as WCS profiles sRGB virtual and scRGB virtual, and tried using no profile at all. None of these changes makes any apparent difference at all to the images we're seeing.
In Photoshop, I've tried various options too. If set to Monitor Color (Monitor RGB - * wscRGB) Photoshop then displays images as it should. However the Camera Raw display when loading Nikon images is still much too dark, and the Photoshop Save to Web images are much too light. Arrrgh!
The monitor does not include any driver software, just electronic documentation (poorly edited) which offers no advice about this. I've seen references to various Gamma utilities, but not sure that's what I need. Is it?
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!
    TIA

Thanks Peter & Sid. I appreciate the advice, but it doesn't match our experience over 12 years of designing web applications so I'm having trouble understanding what's different, can I ask for any more advice you might have?
If we calibrate the monitor using the recommended tools, will Photoshop images look 2-3 f-stops brighter (i.e. as they should look) and will images in all other apps (which look fine now, have always looked fine) look 2-3 f-stops too bright? Or would we be changing JUST the way Photoshop sees the images?
Through probably a dozen different previous CRT and LCD monitors, we've never calibrated anything. Even on our immediately-previous Samsung 213T monitor, images appear pretty much the same in Photoshop as they do in all other places. That includes published web sites viewed with several popular browsers and viewed on literally hundreds of different systems inside and outside of our office.
The previous monitor was being used with exactly the same software and hardware as the new one. The only thing that's changed is the monitor.
Peter asks about brightness or white point luminance. I haven't used any tool to determine that. The monitor is set to 50% brightness, for whatever that's worth, but I can tell you that it is substantially BRIGHTER on white than the previous monitor. The previous Samsung monitor is being run side-by-side with the new one, and it looks quite dull and yellow beside the new one (and we thought it was a great monitor!) The new 30" Samsung has MUCH whiter whites. Does that help even a little?
    Thanks for any further advice.

  • Can't download itunes to samsung juke! help

can any one help me? I want to download my itunes, to my samsung juke, not having much success. not very computer savvy.

Wow, how impatient are you?! You allowed just 10 minutes for someone to answer before asking for "help" again...
Normally you would use "Bluetooth File Exchange" on the Mac to send files to the phone. However, according to the specifications of this phone, it's Bluetooth support is crippled to just 'object push for vCard only'. This means the phone will only accept Contact data via Bluetooth, not MP3 files.
So, you have to use the USB cable. A quick search came up with the following thread on the subject:

  • Seeking a Nokia or Samsung sync workaround - help!

    Greetings everyone,
Apple Forums newcomer here, so be gentle with me, please.
I'm looking to purchase a new cell phone shortly, and was effectively flipping a coin between the Nokia 6111 and the Samsung D500 (or D600), until I realised neither of them are listed as compatible devices for iSync.
Now I know from digging around in here that the Nokia 6111 is a series 40 phone and thus not supported, and Samsung (for whatever buggy/proprietary software reasons) has never been supported. I caught mention of the PhoneDirector for some series 40 phones, but it doesn't seem to include coverage for the 6111 (from their page, is that incorrect?).
So, basically what I want to know is this:
Is there a program or workaround (or anything!) for either the Nokia 6111 or Samsung D500/D600 for transferring pictures/photos to your Mac?
Contacts and phone numbers I'm not so concerned with, but what I really want to be able to do is get my photos to my iBook without having to spend $$$ sending them via MMS. I don't mind if it's Bluetooth or USB (or what), I just want to be able to do it.
If not, that's cool (though I'll be disappointed) - I just want to know. It's the deciding factor on a phone for me, as I've had a Motorola v620 for about 15 months and not a day goes by where I don't want to throw it out a window somewhere (not the least of which because I've never been able to get photos off it!).
I'd appreciate any help, insight, or advice I can get.
    Cheers,
    -adiav.

    Hi there.
I am using a nokia N70, and although the 'handset' is not supported through isync at the moment, the os (symbian 60) is. If you go to my website, I have listed a quick fix for isync that makes the phone work fine.

  • Samsung Projection TV HELP!!!!!

    I have a Samsung Projection HDTV (Model#:  hl50a650c1f)
So far in the past two months this TV has blown two brand new bulbs... Which have cost $200 each!
The first bulb I even replaced the cage. Just a moment ago I went to the kitchen to get a drink and heard my TV turn its self off so I went to check it. Soon as I came into the room I could hear a sparking noise coming from inside the TV. Also a buzzing alarm sound. The Lamp light was blinking signaling it just blew the new bulb that I put in it on MONDAY of last week! I just unplugged it. I don't know what the problem is and I don't know what to do. I don't want to burn my house down and I sure don't want to spend another $200 to have this TV blow another bulb in a weeks time.
    Any Ideas?

It sounds like the ballast went bad.
http://www.samsungparts.com/ enter your model number and I think its like 68 dollars. The new lamp maybe ok. you also should have a warranty on your new lamp.

Well its working now, I really hate this samsung unit but LTE is so fast.
I'll just keep being the beta tester.

  • Samsung DLP TV - HELP !!! TECHNICAL PROBLEMS

We have a 6 yr old Samsung HL-p4663W.
    Symtoms:
    No picture, lamp light blinking
Every 30 sec or we would hear a click like the ballast was firing up or something.
We first replaced the lamp- no change in symtpoms.
Someone told us given the clicking, it was probably the ballast, so we replaced it, no change
Now, when we plug it in, the Lamp light blinks, it clicks like I mentioned. If I press the button to turn it on, all three lights blink.
    Any thoughts?

If you are having problems signing in to Skype on your Samsung TV, then please check the following:
    Is your account brand new?
If the account you are attempting to sign in with does not have any contacts yet (ie it is a brand new account, and you haven't yet invited anybody to be a contact with you on Skype), then you may get stuck on the 'spinner' screen when you try to sign in. To fix this follow these steps:
    1. Using another device (phone, tablet, PC), sign in to the same Skype account
    2. Add a contact using that device (look for the 'Add a Contact' option
    3. You will now be able to sign in successfully on the TV
Does your username or password contain an '&' symbol or other non alphanumeric characters?
Some Samsung TVs do not allow non alphanumeric characters to be entered correctly into the password entry box on the Skype application. If your password has a non alphanumeric character and you are experiencing problems signing in, then we advise you to change your password to use only alphanumeric (0-9, A-Z) characters

  • Samsung Syncmaster 2233rz, help getting 120hz

So I have this monitor mentioned in the title of this post, it's a 3D monitor and is suppose to display at 120hz natively. It's native resolution is 1680x1050@120hz, I have no problem setting it's native resolution in 'nvidia-settings' (I have NVGF560GTX). The problem is I can only set 60hz on other resolutions, e.g.(640x480,800x600,1024x768) etc.etc.....
Before someone tries to tell me or find out if 120hz is supported on those resolutions, IT IS so we can just drop that thought right away.
I need 120hz on those lower resolutions for games, e.g. 120hz on quake live@640x480.
    Thanks.

It's pretty depressing that I have to dual boot because of this problem... Can anyone point me into the right direction at least ?

  • Samsung Galaxy iii help

Hi, i am new to the Galaxy iii world and I am facing a problem of not receiving pictures being sent in a message format, all it is saying is downloading but I can receive the attached text.
Can anyone advise me on the quick fix?

Is your cellular data turned on?  Picture texts will not send/receive over wi-fi.  On some phones people have to turn off wi-fi to get it to work correctly (a pain, I know, but it is what it is).

  • [solved] Samsung SCX-3200 prints garbage

    Hi,
Some months ago I got a Samsung SCX-3200 mono multifunction printer. I installed samsung unified driver from AUR I think it was v3 and printer worked.
After the driver got updated to v4 I think my problems started. Sometimes when printing a document I only got pages with garbage characters in the first line on the whole page. Recently I am unable to print anything, always getting the same result, smileys, hearts etc on the first line. printing test page is the same.
I installed windows to another HDD in my desktop computer and no printing issue occurred. Also I installed samsung unified driver to another computer (running Arch), used the same USB cable, but garbage text was all I got.
Then I tried the official samsung package / installer and everything was the same.
Unfortunately there's no samsung unified driver 3 package  in AUR anymore.
Please help me get my printer back.

  • WRT54GS ver 6 and samsung phone problems

    hey,
at my house we've used this and a wireless g adapter and it's worked awesome.
    but
i've just recieved my new phone it's pretty much brand new, it's a samsung (if that helps).
when i try to connect my phone to the wireless network it spends ages connecting and then instantaneously disconnects.
i think it's not my phones as i have connected to my gf's network fine. also her phone (same phone) connects at hers but not at mine.
any ideas why i can't connect???

now i done it. lol don't worry.
i clicked around till it worked

  • Can't set up Wi-Fi on Samsung Galaxy S3

When I try to set up a Wi-Fi connection on my Samsung Galaxy S3, I always get the message "Incorrect password." The salesperson in the Verizon store and the phone's manual both indicate that the password should be the administrator's password for the router used for our home network (one desktop, one laptop, and one wireless network printer).
I have changed the router's admin password twice (once because I forgot the password and had to reset all the router's settings from scratch, and again because I tried another password on the off-chance that it might make the connection work).
Is the router's password supposed to be something other than its admin password? Or is there something else that I'm not doing? FWIW, when I view the Advanced Settings on the Wi-Fi settings screen, they pick up router's settings correctly.
Thanks very much for any help you can provide.

    Hi Klue,
I tried what you suggested this afternoon, but it didn't work. I finally got connected after several blind alleys. Hubby and I went to the Verizon store where we bought the phone soon afterward. The salesperson tried to connect to their network and wasn't able to get it to work, but he could connect to his phone, which he'd set up as a Wi-Fi hotspot. He was out of ideas and told me to contact Samsung when we got home.
I did reach a Samsung chat agent walked me through a procedure using additional settings to set up Wi-Fi on my phone. We got as far as IP address, which said Unavailable. The chat agent said to contact our ISP for what to enter in this field. While waiting on hold for the ISP's Tech Support, I realized the IP address should be unavailable because it's a dynamic IP address. When I talked to a support tech, she confirmed that but said she could help me. With her on the phone, I tried the router's admin password again, didn't work. She then suggested that I go to the router setup and first try the router's passphrase, didn't work. Finally, she asked me to try the router's first security key -- voila, she's a genius -- it worked!
While I'm glad it's working, I'm a little peeved that it took so long to solve the problem. On the other hand, the Verizon salesperson said that if Samsung couldn't help me and I had no success connecting someplace with open Wi-Fi access tomorrow, they would give me a new phone.
Thanks very much for your suggestion.

  • How can I use samsung printer scx-4016 with macbook

can't load mac software on intel macbook.
can't find mac driver or software on samsung site.
has anyone else been able to use the multifunction printer with their intel macbook?

You can try using one of the of the Gimp-Print
drivers included with Mac OS X if you cannot locate
printer software for your specific printer model. If
your printer supports PostScript Level 2 or
PostScript Level 3, select Generic PostScript Printer
as the print model. If you are experiencing an issue
using the driver designed for your printer model, you
may be able to workaround the issue by adding the
printer via a Gimp-Print driver or the Generic
    PostScript Printer Description file.
I don't understand any of what you have written about Gimp-print drivers.
This printer does not support postScript. Could you please give me more detailed instructions about what I should do.
Sorry it has taken me this long to get back to this problem, but regular life got in the way to handling this until now. I have to copy everything I want to print to my windows machine from my macbook. I am very frustrated with it.
