Samsung LA32B530 Not Recognised via Mini Display Port

Hi,
Tried connecting a Samsung LA32B530 LCD Screen to my MBP. The Screen is not recognised by the system. The screen is connected via the Mini Display Port to DVI adapter and from there via a DVI to HDMI cable. Screen on flickers blue when I plug the screen in but no signal recognised by screen and the screen is not recognised in the control panel.
The MBP is connected to the screen via the HDMI1 port which is said by Samsung to be used with a DVI to HDMI cables.
Any suggestions?

Try a PRAM and SMC Reset
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379  for PRAM
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964  for SMC
If you have selected and switched to  the correct HDMI ports with your TV Controller
Then try another lead.

  • Thunderbolt not a functional Mini Display Port? (2011 Mac Mini i5)

I was under the impression that the Thunderbolt connection could also be used as a standard mini display port to connect a display port monitor (HP ZR24w). I picked up a mini display port to display port cable to try it out... No signal.
Shouldn't this work or is the Thunderbolt connection in fact not a functional mini display port?

As I understand it, going from DVI to mini-displayport is not as easy as going the other way. And far as I know, there are no mini-displayport video cards you can add to a first generation Mac Pro.
So what it looks like you need, is a device like the following.

  • Connect MacBook Pro 3,1 to hdmi tv via mini-display port

How do I connect my MacBook Pro 3,1 (2007) to an hdmi port on a LCD TV using the mini-display
port on my Mac?  I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
I have connected a mini-display to hdmi connector into an HDMI port on the TV.  I've watched lots of youtube videos
on how to do this (apparently with newer Macs), but when I go to 'system preferences/displays', I have no options like 'extended TV'
or 'mirroring' and I have no resolution choices with a 'p' behind it.  I've tried 'command-F1' as someone
suggested to make it 'mirror' and nothing happens.

  • What is the latest, older model iMac that has a DVI port. I do not want a Mini-Display Port

I want to use an iMac for my seminar. My projector only accepts VGA connections. I currently use my MacBook Pro using a cable that has DVI Male on one end and VGA Male on the other.  I can't get a Mini-Display to VGA adapter.
What is the latest, older iMac that I can buy that has a DVI-D output? All the new models at the Apple Store have Mini-Display ports only.
    Thank you.
    www.ImagineThatToo.Org

The Early 2008 iMacs were the last models with DVI output. They have a mini-DVI port.
However, Apple sells mini-DisplayPort to VGA adapters, as do 3rd party developers.

  • HDMI Audio Output via Mini Display Port to Sharp Aquos TV cuts out every 10 seconds

I haven't had an issue til I recently did a software update to my Mac Pro.
I have two mini-display ports on the back of my machine but always have been able to listen to audio from the HDMI connection without an issue. Anyone else having this issue?  I checked and reset all the setting on my Television and get prompted that a icompatible PCMI audio signal is being recieved.
    PLEASE HELP!
    Thanks!

I have seen one report that this is an acknowledged bug in OS10.6.8, the only cure for now is reverting OS:

  • Adding second display via mini display port

How do I add audio and video using mini display port and USB audio with HDMI connection at Home Theater Receiver from 2009 Mac-mini? DVI and optical audio outputs on Mac-mini used for primary display.

Assuming your receiver has a USB audio input, you would use an Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and then a DVI to HDMI cable for the video and a USB cable for the audio. You would have to go into System Preferences/Sound and under the Output tab you would have to make a selection to direct which port to send audio out of.
As an alternative to the Apple adapter, there are also third-party Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cables that avoid any need for an adapter at all.

any ideas how to fix this?

    Update.
    Still having the problem.
I changed the mini displayport to displayport cable:
    http://ca.startech.com/Cables/Audio-Video/DisplayPort/6-ft-Mini-DisplayPort-to- DisplayPort-Adapter-Cable-Male-to-Male~MDP2DPMM6

    http://outlet.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/0B47091/460/8FA0422CA6EA48B0BDED71D28 7F73673
I have heard that the issue may have something to do with the number of pins contained in the cable:Try another DisplayPort cable (One that is VESA compliant). Non-compliant DisplayPort cables may have snyc issues and may also have the # 20 pin pwr cable active. The # 20 pin is not suppose to be active and it may cause damage to your hardware.
The new Lenovo cable does not indicate if it is VESA compliant.
The main issue here is that after the Macbook Pro screen flashes blue upon waking, the screen brightness keys do not function. Only after removing the mini dispalayport cables do the brightness keys (F1&F2) function again.
Would really appreciate it if someone knows how to solve this issue?
    Kind regards

  • Mini DIsplay Port on MBP (MacBookPro6,2) does not seem to work

The Mini DIsplay Port on our office's new MBP (MacBookPro6,2) does not work with the office Toshiba projector, (several years old - 800x600 VGA) that I use for presentations. We have used a variety of MBPs with this projector over the years, they have always worked fine.
With the new MBP, we are using a new Apple (not 3rd party) Mini Display Port (MDP) to VGA Adaptor. When connected, projector says "No Signal".
The workaround is to copy the presentation to my personal MacBook Air 11" (MBA) and connect the projector using the same adapter. Just disconnect the MDP adaptor from MBP and connect to the MBA. This seems very strange behavior for a two week old MBP. Is this a known problem with the MBPs? Thanks.

OK, I think I figured this one out. I have a utility installed called "gfxCardStatus v.1.8.1". This enables you to manually switch the active graphics cards between "Intel Only", "NVIDIA Only" or to allow the MBP to "Dynamically" switch the card. I had the card set manually to "Intel Only". On this setting, the projector did not sense a signal. Upon switching to "NVIDIA Only" the projector sensed a signal and worked just fine. I did not test the "Dynamic Switching".

  • Wi-Fi Sharing doesn't work together with mini Display port

    Hello everyone!
I can tell you fantstic problem. Sorry for my English - i'm from Russia!
    The problem:
    1. Share Wi-Fi via bonjour to other devices such as iPad, iPhone, windows computers, etc. I'm using Mac os X Snow Leopard! Everything is fine!
    2. Just only I plugging hdmi/dvi adapter - INTERNET STOPS TO WORK!!!
It looks like fantastic. If just I plugging-off remote monitor! Internet works fine! If only turn on! - It doesn't work!
    Can You only believe???
When you plug remote monitor or plasma TV via mini display port - Wi-Fi sharing is not working!!!
I try to solwe this problem about 1 year - and found this forum. Nobody on internet ask this question!!!
How can I solw this problem????
My assumptions that minidisplay port and bonjour for wi-fi sharing using the same port and mini dispay have more priority!!!
But it strange - why nobody in internet ask this question!
Thanks! I'm waiting for you answer!

Yes, I actually checked that it was 7.1.2  Not sure when they released it, but I had been trying to get this to work all last night.
But I did try something new...I had set restrictions for my son in Settings.  If I turn "off" all restrictions, the app will load properly and bring me to Netflix sign in.
Do you know what Restiction settings would prevent Netflix from loading?  I naturally want to lock down the iPad so that my son can not surf explicit websites or install, delete, and in-app purchase.  I did add Netflix to approved list though.
    Thanks.

  • Mini display port to DVI problems

    Hello community,
I have a question regarding the connection from an iMac via the mini display port to a DVI input at a TFT monitor. I have an older TFT monitor and now I connected the iMac with this monitor via mini display port -> DVI adapter -> DVI cable -> monitor.
It is quite a simple connection, but actually when I force Mac OSX to detect external monitors it does not react at all. Mac OSX behaves as if there is no connection to an external monitor.
I already told this to my reseller and they told me that the adapter is not working correctly and they gave me another one. With that one I have exactly the same problem and now I'm quite sure, that it is not a problem of the adapter, but somehow my iMac does not find the external monitor.
Is there probably an underlying problem I do not understand yet?
By the way, my very old Macbook White has no problems detecting the monitor. If I use the older video output it works fine, but the new output at my iMac 21,5 inch does not work with my monitor.
My question is, why does it not work and what kind of monitor do I need, that it can be connected with my iMac (via DVI)?

Is the adapter plugged in all the way in the Mini DisplayPort?  It takes more force than you might expect.

  • Running HDMI from a new iMAC - T'Bolt/Mini Display Port

I'm considering the brand new iMAC (27" i7 4Gb video card) for video editing. Can I feed a Sony full HD (1080p) TV via HDMI directly from a thunderbolt port or do I have to use a dual-link DVI cable/adaptor.
The Tech Spec talks of a Mini Display port output and 2 thunderbolt ports but does not show the mini display port in the picture. Is there a seperate mini display port or are they talking about a thunderbolt port being used as a mini display port?

    Hi w andersen,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your TV is not recognized by your iMac when you connect it, I recommend the troubleshooting tips found in this article:

  • How do Dual Monitor with my Mac Book Pro (Boot camped with Windows 8) through my mini display port VIA Thunderbolt to a iMac (Model Mid 2011)?

So I have a Mac Book Pro with a bootcamp Windows 8. I dual monitor on the Mac side with my Mid 2011 iMac through my mini display port via thunder bolt cable. • Mini display Port To HDMI not fully working with tv

Ok So, I am using and 13" macbook Pro Alu (march 2009) and a 40" Samsung LED 120hz 1080p screen (Brand spankin New!). I am connecting the two between a dynex mini Display port adapter to HDMI out. Then have an HDMI cable Running from the adapter to the TV.
    My Problem:
When i connect the two together The output to the TV doesn't Fit the whole Screen. There is about a 4 inch Gap on the sides that are just black and about an 1 1/2 inch gap on the top and bottom. This was how it was on my old tv and was hoping it would just work better on the new tv. The old tv was 720p 32 inch toshiba. but it is very frustrating because i use ableton and it defeats the purpose of having such a large display if it doesnt work properly. ive read a couple forums that were similar but non were the exact problem nor the right solution. I downloaded switchresX and it gives me higher resolutions to output but it does not change the gap. Im starting to think it may be a setting on the tv but i have yet to find anything that with fix it on either the settings on the TV nor the computer. please help thank you

When you're in Extended desktop mode (not mirror), and you Open System Preferences > Display, there should be a preference on your main screen and one on the TV.  The one on the TV should have the underscan setting like this:

  • Mini Display port DVI adapter not working on Thunderbolt Port

For some time I've been using a mini display port to DVI adapter on an slightly older MBP to connect to my HD TV.  I recently purchased a MBP with a Thunderbolt port and when I try to connect it to my TV via my mini-display-port-DVI adapter things are not working properly.  The MBP is seeing the Philips TV but it isn't listing all the display modes and I'm not able to send any video to it.  Does the Thunderbolt port require a new display port to DVI adapter?

Let me be clearer; I've got the MDP-DVI adapter connected to a cable that is DVI on one end and HDMI on the other.  I've got both laptops so I can compare side by side.  I plug in the MDP-DVI adapter to the old laptop and all works well; I plug it into the new laptop and while the laptop does see the TV, the display modes for it are all 1080p which is wrong I don't see any desktop image on the TV unlike when I plug it into the older laptop.  This is very disappointing as I expect things to just work with Apple products.
