Samsung LED 8000 40"

We recently purchased the Samsung 40" LED TV.  We have an antenna on a tower, no cable or satellite dish.  With our old TV we programmed Madison, Milwaukee and Green Bay stations.  When we program the stations for Madison and then turn the antenna for Milwaukee and program those stations the Madison stations are removed.  Is there a way to keep them/set them permanently with out them disappearing each time?  It is a real pain to reprogram stations each time we move the antenna to another city.
Our second problem is recording programs.  We have an old VHS that doesn't work unless we use a converter box.  Is there a Blueray unit, DVD, CD, MP3, VHS  player/recorder out there somewhere?  I would like to join Netflix and do not have playstation 3, or any other unit that would work.  I have an older surround sound system and a playstation 2 and cannot figure out how to hook it all up so it is all usable on this new TV.  All the wrong connecters and I was told they do not make adapters.

OK, when I turn the antenna to 250 degrees to scan the Madison WI stations, then turn the antenna 135 degrees to scan the Milwaukee, WI stations, the Madison stations are gone.  Apparently the TV will only hold the stations that the antenna is picking up at the degree it is pointing.  If I turn the antenna back to 250 degrees and try to manually punch in a Madison TV station number on the remote it is gone, only snow and fine tuning will not work if it is not programmed in to begin with.  It is very aggravating.
It was snowing across the whole southern half of the state the first time I followed your instructions.  I rotated the antenna for Madison first, then Milwaukee and lost one Madison station in the process.  The TV did not delete the station on its own, it disappeared after I programmed Milwaukee in.    Maybe the snow helped with the stations being stronger.  Odd I know but I have no other explanation.  I am hoping it snows again so I can try it..  I will let you know if it works.  I even tried to program them in late at night, 2:30 am, to see if that would work.  It did not although I did pick up a Green Bay station some how.  Puzzling.
I am still looking for a player/recorder that is Netflix capable, and found Moxi.  You pay for the unit outright and no monthly fees like TiVo.  It sounded perfect until I read that it is only made to be used with cable.  No dish or antenna.  Bummer.  I will keep searching, maybe some company will put one out soon.  I can only hope.

  • Just purchased the Samsung LED 8000 series, question

Hey everyone.. I purchased this TV because of the deal I saw in this weeks ad (a cd starter pack with the shrek movies, 2 pairs of glasses, a wireless adaptor and 3d capable blu ray player). The price was a bit high but when I got it setup and used it, those worries went out the window.
Now I am unable to enjoy the 3d aspect as of now, they were out of the Shrek starter kits but I do have one question. Sometimes, programs look like they have been sped up or some unatural movement speeds. Anyone know if this can be changed. Its not unbearable but sometimes, it just looks weird.
And if any bestbuy employees look, how bad is the shortage of these kits? I got two different dates from the employees at the store I purchased (Ceder Hill in TX).

same at my store. we are pushed back on them till the 22nd.
as far as the motion, turn down or turn off the "MotionFlow" setting on the TV, that will fix it.

  • How do I connect my Samsung Series 8000 plasma tv to my 27" imac

How do I connect my Samsung Series 8000 plasma tv to my 27" imac (2.8 GHz Intel Core i7) to use as a display?

Here you go (no financial or other interest in this web site or company):
    http://www.kanexlive.com/iadapt51
I believe we have the same model of iMac (late 2009) in which unfortunately Apple did not provide audio signals in the mini-DisplayPort out port.  This Kanex adapter will pick up your audio as well as the DisplayPort signal and combine them in an HDMI signal that you plug into the Samsung HDTV.

  • Problems connecting my macbook pro to my samsung led Tv

Hi. I try to present some pictures and videos by connecting my macbook pro to my samsung led Tv but my mac doesn't recognize the Tv (or it could be that my TV doesn't recognize the mac). What should I do?

I have problems too with some projectors and the DVI--VGA adapter that came with my MBP. The projector is recognized by the computer, but does not show any signal.
With the help of Stéphane Madrau, who has written the excellent tool SwitchResX, I found out that the projector reports that it takes digital input when I connect the MacBook Pro, but analog when I connect it to my 12" PBG4. From the DDC information (collected with SwitchResX):
    MacBook Pro, DVI--VGA:
    Input signal & sync:
    Digital
    PBG4, miniDVI--VGA:
    Input signal & sync:
    Analog input with: 0.700V / 0.300V
    Separate Sync
    Composite Sync
Given that the VGA cable is analog only, I would think that the MBP tries (or rather, does) output digital signals only, which don't make it into the VGA cable. If I find a solution I will post it here.
The clue was that the computer did not report any vertical scan frequencies for the external display, while it did so for a projector that worked.

  • I am trying to send iTunes content from my MBA to Samsung LED SmartTV (7500) using DLNA.  Has anyone figured out how to do this?

I recently purchased a Samsung LED SmartTV (7500) and am trying to watch TV Shows purchased from iTunes wirelessly.  I know the WLAN connection is setup properly for the TV and MBA individually.  I thought DLNA was supposed to setup the peer-to-peer link between these two devices.  Do I need to download some special software to enable this on the MBA?  Has anyone else managed to get this to work?

iTunes does not support DLNA. If your TV works only with a DLNA server, you'll need to find one for Mac that supports wireless connectivity and that can either read your iTunes library files or just access the track files. Otherwise, as Chris suggested, an Apple TV is another option and probably would be a lot easier to set up and use with iTunes.
    Regards.

  • Will A 27 Inch Samsung LED Monitor work on my Macbook pro?

I have a Mid 2009 Macbook Pro and I am not sure what ports it has. I see 2 ports apart from the USB (2 ports), Power and LAN. I am planning to buy a 27 inch Samsung LED monitor for the laptop. Here are the Macbook specs:
Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 Ghz
    Memory - 8 GB
    Graphic - NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
    VRAM - 256 MB
I have read that even if I buy a monitor with speakers, I won't be able to get sound from them. What are my options if I buy a monitor with or without speakers? Will I need to connect to speakers using USB? The monitor has an HDMI port... in that case what cable will I need to connect the monitor to my MBP?
Thanx in advance for all your help.

Well you are in luck (I think) because the 2009 models actually output sound via HDMI with minidisplay port.**
you'll need to get this Mini DP
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/Moshi_Mini_DisplayPort_to_HDMI_Adapt er?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
and an hdmi cord, and then just plug and play!

** to see if your model is compatible with outputting audio from minidisplay port.
in the comments from MM in Orlando, it says:
The best solution, instead of trying to figure out the date your mac was born and the cut-off, etc...
    1. Click on the Apple Icon in the top left corner of the screen.
    2. Click "About this Mac."
    3. Click "More Info."
    4. Click on "Audio (Built In)." *** If you see "HDMI Output or HDMI/DisplayPort Output
    - Then you are GOLDEN!!!! If not, you are like me and extremely frustrated
if you're out of luck like me, you can also try to get a miniToslink to Toslink cord, that is if your new samsung led supports it. I run mine into a 5.1 reciever so it doesn't matter if my monitor has one or not.

  • Mac mini (mid 2011) to Samsung led tv via hdmi connection problem.

    Samsung led tv - UE32D5000
    Mac mini (mid 2011)
On regular monitor (connected by hdmi to dvi cable) setup teamviewer
    Try to:
    1. Connect different hdmi cables - dose not work (on apple tv - both cables work)
    2. Connect hdmi cable to different hdmi ports.
    3. On tv change type of source - PC, PC-DVI and other.
By teamviewer I watched what was going on the computer - Mac mini does not recognize tv like monitor by pressing 'seek monitor'.

Aha! Similar problem here; Mini (Intel, Macmini2,1, the 2007 version with the larger HDI port not the smaller one)
Problem seems to happen only with both HDMI and USB connected (USB only to use the built-in webcam on the monitor, an AOC V22+ (which I love, it's a very nice monitor; LED instead of fluorescent backlight).
Sometimes it would suddenly switch to where the dock and menu bars and status bar were hidden (the desktop gets 'too big for the screen).
Then I'd go to the Display settings and unselect "overscan"
Then it'd be OK for a while, then switch to a big black space around the desktop window, lots of unused screen).
Then I'd go to the Display settings and reselect "overscan" and it'd be Ok.
    For a while.
There really ought not be a need to fiddle with 'overscan' at all -- since I'm not using this as a television. Mac OS 10.3.6 seems to mistakenly think the monitor is being used as a TV -- maybe when there's a video in a browser window?
    Not sure.
Anyhow it becomes a rock-paper-scissors problem where I have to keep chasing the settings to undo whatever it changes to at random, Lather rinse repeat.
Seems like it's only a problem for me when I have the USB cable also connected, to use the built-in webcam -- so I don't use that now.
The AOC folks have been working hard on solving this.
I just found this topic and have referred them here.
They'll be glad to know it's not their problem, I guess.
(does it happen on Apple brand displays too? I'm not sure)

  • Macbook Pro retina + Samsung LED 24" external monitor

Hi all, I just bought Macbook Pro 13.3" Retina and im having some troubles.
When I connect those two via VGA adapter I see some strange artifact effect on external monitor.
I dont know hot to name that artifact but it is the same thing that you can see when you take your camera or smartphone and try to record old tv screen for example. You will see that parallel lines goes up or down. This effects is easy to notice when you put something with dark background on external monior (like Unity3D Pro IDE with dark skin in my case).
    The interesting things are:
    - when I switch external monitor from VGA adapter connection to HDMI-HDMI then everything works fine with no artifacts.
    - when I'm using VGA adapter and connect Macbook Pro to another external monitor (AOC 24" LCD) then everything works ok aswell.
    - when I take my Samsung LED monitor and connect it to another PC (Windows 8) with VGA everything works great.
So I belive that this issue is related to all three of them (MacbookPro + Sasmung LED + VGA adapter) and I really dont know who to blame and what to do.
Dose anyome have an idea how to solve this and what to do?]
    thanks

    Hi luisvf7,
So it seems you are having issues with your MacBook Pro not displaying properly on your external display. It does sound like a frustrating situation. Let’s see if we can get you up and running.
I would suggest that you use the steps in this article to troubleshoot the problem -

  • Samsung LED 800 TV smart Hub

    Hi
Im having issues with my brand new TV. The Skype camera which is supposed to power on when the tv is powered on and smart hub activated seems never to work when needed. Its meant to come up with a blue light to show its connected and powere available etc to the camera but in my instance this isnt always or usually the case. If i go into skype the video option is greyed out and  i get a message which cycles between connecting camera and disconnecting camera. Usually if i power down the tv for a some period of time i can start it up and get the camera working but this isnt the case always.Ive had an engineer come round to look at it but he seems to think that the USB board in the tv is at fault. because of a software update, this doesnt seem to make sense i could understand if it was a firmware update or faulty board but not that some random program (app) is causing the issue. If this was the case surely just removing the app would fix it or reflashing (reinitialising the software would fix the problem). Doesnt sound like a skype problem per say just wanted to know if anyone else has had these issues and what they did to resolve this problem ..
    thanks

  • HDTV advice Samsung LED or Sony XBR?

I am getting a HDTV LCD for the 1st time and wanted to know if anyone has any experience, good or bad with the Samsung LED 6000 series 46" or the Sony XBR 46"?
Saw them both at Best Buy today.
I guess I can use it with a mini too if I need too.
    thanks in advance

I cannot address the technical issues, but I can offer the advice to get the Best Buy extended warranty, particularly if you purchase a Samsung. If you have a problem later on than the local technicians cannot fix, Samsung customer service is terrible. The Best Buy warranty has "lemon" coverage that, unless they've changed the terms, will provide a replacement if the unit can't be fixed.
If you want comparisons between the two systems in terms of picture and audio quality, I'd suggest asking in the AVS Forums:
    http://www.avsforum.com/
That's a great place for advice on AV and home theater gear.

Im looking to buy the samsung LED TV, i wanted to know if i can get the tv in 80''. if so how much and how can i get the tv. thanks

The sharp 80" is $5k. The only reason people buy the 70" sharp is because that's biggest the stores carry/carried. Sad that people pick size over quality.

  • Samsung LED TV compatible?

I bought a new Samsung LED TV and my Apple TV will flash to a black screen intermittently as if nothing is connected. I have tried several different HDMI cables and all of the ports. Nothing fixes it. I have also tried all of the fixes in the community. So I finally contacted Samsung and they told me they are not compatible with Apple TV. Is this true? I have an older Samsung in another room and it works just fine on that one.

  • Apple Macbook Pro Retina with display issue Samsung LED

Once I have plugged the HDMI cable from Macbook Pro to Samsung 24" LED Monitor, the display remains black. Doesn't seemed like the samsung monitor recognised the Apple Macbook Pro at all. I have reset the PRAM and troubleshoot it with Apple and meanwhile still waiting for answer from Apple. They have acknowledged of the problem but there is no solution. I erally need the second extended monitor for my design work. Bit ridiculus that the most powerful Apple system cannot even do the simplest thing. I am stuck now. Please help.

Just letting everyone in the forum know that I have been a loyal user of apple for the past 20 years and this is quite embarassing to know that HDMI cannot work with a samsung LED monitor. In addition, I have been a Apple Tech and Sales.
Also, there are a lot of users out there who are having the same propblem,. This is certainly not good enough.
I still find it wayyyyy too early to blame Apple so generally. This other "lot of users" has a lot of home-made problems, such as incompatible displays, adapters, etc.
BTW, mind telling the exact display model number?
And thanks for the response further above.
