Samsung ML1610 Laser Printer

I purchased this printer recently for £49.99 and wasn't sure whether it would work with a Mac OSX as it didn't say on the box. Looking on a few websites I found that I could get it to work just by downloading the drivers for the ML1710, it worked a treat, no problems whatsoever. So despite it saying nothing on the box, the Samsung ML1610 laser printer will work with OSX. It's great budget laser printer and well worth the money.

Did you mean ML1750 drivers ?

  • Trouble printing with Leopard and Samsung USB laser printer

I just purchased a Samsung SCX-4200 laser printer/scanner/copier. After installing 10.5-compatible drivers from the Samsung website, I'm unable to get the printer to work. Print+Fax recognizes the printer fine and the proper driver appears in the pulldown menu so all seems good there. But every time I go to print a document (I've tried numerous apps), the job begins spooling to about 6%-8% (depending on document tried) and then I get a message in the queue window that says 'Waiting for USB printer to respond.' and the job just hangs there. The job list shows the document as printing and the Print+Fax window shows the printer as in use, but no matter what I try, this thing just won't print. I've tried restarting the computer, rebooting the printer, an older version of the drivers that came with the printer (says OS 10.3-10.4 only) and myriad other tricks, but no dice.
    Anyone have any advice? Thanks!

Well to follow up I finally heard back from Epson support...this was the response (note that it says nothing that I did not tell them already).
Thank you for taking the time to contact Epson. It is my pleasure to
respond to your inquiry. Color management is an art, make sure that only
the application or the driver is handling the management. Turn off the
management in the driver if you are allowing Photoshop or other software to
handle the color management. Also make sure when you are allowing
Photoshop to handle the color that you select the proper printer profile.
It's very hard to help with color management via email, you may want to
check some of the on-line color management websites on google.

Totally useless as I explained in detail that I had already done all of this and was very familiar with color management and the process of using it. And that it was not until the latest OS-X and Epson's driver that the problems started.

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8.2, I cannot print to my Samsung laser printer ML 2525w?  How can I get this set up to print?

After upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 on my iMac, I cannot print to my Samsung B&W Laser printer ML 2525W either by USB or wireless.    Any help on how to setup or reconfigure would be apprecaited.
I either print blank pages or prints one time then goes off line, or spits out a bunch of blank paper, etc.  Have gone through all the standard fixes, reboot, reset , reload driver, etc.

From the link to the Thread you provided, I worked through the one message procedures that were listed.
For ease of reference, I have copied them and printed them below.  This was an old thread but the guidance still works with no firmware upgrade required.
I would stress that you MUST delete any and all files relating to USB connection of the printer to the MAC, including all print drivers (from both Apple and Samsung either from CD or web downloads) and all print queues, etc.  I was only able to get the printer to properly hand shake with my Mac by setting it up wirelessly after all old files were deleted with hard power off reboots on both the Mac and Printer.
I hope that someone from Apple will pass this note along to their programing department because there is some type of incompatibility in the new ML OS and the Samsung ML2525w print dirvers used for a cable (USB) type connection.  Apple needs to be talking to Samsung to get the USB issue resolved.  I am going to post this same message on the Samsung site to see if someone from there will contact Apple to work together on a final solution for USB connectivity.
Here is the steps I followed to get my ML2525w to work in the wireless mode.  Again, I cannot stress the need to clean out all the old files (drivers, print queues, etc. - everything) before setting up wirelessly.
As a note, I ran this printer with Lion for almost 2 years and it always worked fine (both wireless and USB).  From other comments on the thread, users were good with this printer using Lep. and Snow Lep also. - - no issues from either a USB connection or wireless until Mountain Lion.
Before the fix, I was experiencing many of the same issues as described on user chat threads, printer going offline after a print job.  1st page sometimes printing but all the rest of the pages were garbage.  No printing at all. Printer just running a bunch of blank pages out. etc.
I run an iMAC 27" desktop with the ML OS upgrade just installed from Lion.
"I've just installed one of these printers for my parents.
First of all, don't waste your time connecting the ML-2525W as a USB printer. The printer will go offline after each print job. It's hopeless, at least (I assume) until Samsung gets around to publicly releasing a firmware update.
Instead, you have to use the ML-2525W as a wireless printer. In that mode, it works fine.
    This is what I did:
    (1) First, if you have already attempted to install the Samsung driver software from the included CD-ROM, uninstall it. Get the uninstaller from the Samsung support site:
    http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/ML-2525W
Download the "Printer Driver (ver. 4.0)" ZIP file. It unzips to a folder that contains the uninstaller. Likewise, download the "Smart Panel Driver" ZIP file and uninstall the Smart Panel software.
    (2) Disconnect the USB cable from the printer, if it is connected. Pull the power plug on the printer and power cycle it.
    (3) Restart your Mac.
    (4) Go to the "Printer Driver (ver. 4.0)" folder that you previously unzipped. Inside it is a folder named "WirelessSetting". Open the folder and run the "Wireless Setting.app".
    (5) The application will ask you to connect the USB cable to the printer. Do so, and the Mac should be able to communicate with the printer to perform the wireless setup.
    (6) The application will show you a list of wireless networks. One of them is the wireless interface in the printer (ad-hoc). You can ignore that unless you intend to use the printer without connecting to another wireless network. In my case, I selected the wireless network in my parents' home (infrastructure) and entered the security passphrase. The application then configured the wireless interface in the ML-2525W to connect to the home network.
    (7) The Wireless Setting application will then tell you to disconnect the USB cable.
    (8) After finishing the Wireless Setting application, go to Word, Textedit, Pages, or Safari, and select a file or page to print. In the print dialog window, you should see the ML-2525W as a "Nearby Printer" (i.e. via Bonjour). Select the ML-2525W, and your Mac will automatically connect to Apple's Software Update and download the latest Samsung driver. If for any reason the Software Update download does not succeed, you can manually download and install the Apple driver using the previously published link in this discussion.
    (9) After that, you should be able to print to the ML-2525W whenever you want, without the printer going offline.
    (10) If you have a USB printer queue still in your Print & Fax Preferences (from your previous unsuccessful attempt to connect via USB), you can delete it. You only need to keep the Bonjour queue.
Obviously YMMV, but in my case this procedure got the printer working reliably without the need for a firmware update."

  • Samsung laser printer can't print via Airport

I can no longer get my Samsung laser printer (ML-1210) to print via my Airport Extreme Base Station network. All I get is the Printer Center telling me that it can't find the printer. Prior to OS X 10.4.4 and Airport Firmware update 5.7 no problems, after OS X 10.4.4 and Airport Firmware update 5.7 some types of documents (.pdf) would print sometime and some types (.rtd) wouldn't print at all. After OS X 10.4.5 nothing prints.
So far a direct USB connection seems to print OK, as far as regular text files (Rich, and Plain) are concerned.

I tried so many things I'm dizzy. Nothing done to the computer, not even clean installing OS 10.4 on an external HD and booting from that worked. What seems to have finally worked (????) was reverting the AEBS Firmware version down to version 5.5.1.
Since I print so infrequently I'm not going to say it's all OK until I do some more testing/printing.
In the mean time if anyone can give me an specific idea why this conflict may be happening and what else I can do to fix it without running my AEBS with older Firmware I would be grateful.
The latest driver for Samaung ML-1210 is a couple of years old and I think it is a proprietary code (not something standard like PostScript).
I'm not sure if it's only the AEBS Firmware or a combination of conflicts between the "OS Version-Printer Driver-AEBS Firmware".
    Thanks.

  • 20" Intel iMac and Samsung Laser Printer

I ordered my new 20" Intel iMac last Saturday, the 14th. From day one, it said estimated ship was Jan. 24th. Yesterday I checked the status and it still said the 24th, but it also said estimated delivery for Jan. 31st. I was sad because when i ordered it, it said estimated ship 3-5 business days. Jan. 24th would be longer than that. So I checked my e-mail this morning, and lo and behold, I have an e-mail from Apple saying my new computer shipped out this morning, making it 5 business days since I ordered it (4 if they considered Monday a holiday). I just wanted to reassure others that the ship date may not be as late as it's estimated.
My question is this... I have a Samsung laser printer (the ML-1740) hooked up to my fiance's Windows XP machine. My Sony Vaio desktop (which I'm giving to my mom) can see the printer just fine. It prints just as if it was hooked up to it. My Powerbook however, cannot see the Samsung printer over the network. I'm a nursing student and print out tons of text only stuff, so I really need to use the laser printer with my new Mac. I've see a lot of different discussions on Mac drivers for this particular model, but I haven't tried any of them on my Powerbook, and I'm curious as to whether or not any of them would even work with the new Intel Mac. My other question is whether or not there is any way I can get my iMac to see the printer on the Windows. I don't necessarily have to install drivers on the Mac if I don't need to. I just need a solution to make it work. If I have to install something, that's fine. If I can just make it print over the network, that's great too. I don't ever use any of the settings the Samsung software provides, so just basic printing is fine. I just don't want to have to e-mail all my documents to myself and then go to the Windows machine to have to print. I apologize if any of this is confusing. What are some of the things I can try to make this work? Or can someone point me in another direction to get the answers. I was stupid in not realizing that the printer didn't support Mac OS X when I bought it, even though I already have one Mac. Thanks so much! I love these forums!

My shipping was the same way, maybe they had a supply shortage of RAM or just a long queue of computers waiting for upgrades and not enough people to perform them. Mine shipped today with an estimate of for the 25th.
I have looked around on Apples site and couldn't find anything about supported printers. You will have to install some form of driver on the Mac. You will have to make sure the PC has it shared correctly. Read about printer sharing in the windows help files. I don't know any more off hand.

  • Samsung ML-2010 Laser printer not working

I just hooked up my new 802.11n Airport Extreme base station, and I can't get my samsung ML-2010 laser printer working with it. The Airport Utility recognizes the printer, and bonjour installs the printer on the windows machines, but when I go to print, nothing happens. Is there a list of compatible printers for the 802.11n base station?

iFelix has started a list. Since the device has been in the wild only a few weeks the number of user experiences with varied printers is still small.

  • Samsung ML1665/XEU Laser Printer or Software Problem

Some while ago for no apparent reason my printer started printing a series of large font commas down the left hand side of the page.  These are about 13mm in from the edge and about 23mm apart.   After another week another series of marks appeared.  These are only 3mm from the LH edge of the page and the same distance apart.  These look like headphones standing on their side (or an oval with a gap at the right hand side)
I've reinstalled the printer driver but it makes no difference.  I've called the Samsung helpline but they are baffled.   Could this be a problem with Mavericks and/or iWorks09 being incompatible with Samsung?  Unfortunately, I can't remember if the marks appeared after downloading these updates or not.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Ever since OSX 10.5 my printer options are either unavailable or ignored when I choose them. I have a Canon i9900 inkjet, Kyocera Laser Printer, Toshiba B&W Copier, Toshiba Color Copier, and a RIP for a platesetter on my network. I can't select the second tray on my laser printer, it is grayed out. When I select landscape feed on my copiers it is ignored and I must feed the paper portrait direction.
There was a problem pre 10.5.2 that orientation and, I believe, the paper tray settings, were lost when printing to a windows shared printer. I am not sure if that is your setup, but your descriptions makes it sound like it might be.

  • Samsung laser printer software updater gone haywire?

I upgraded to Mountain Lion several months ago.  I've had the same Samsung ML-2850 printer attached to my system for over 2 years.  All of a sudden about a week ago, through nothing I've done, I get a window popping up randomly asking if I want to update the ML-2850 software.  If I click "yes" it says there's no software available (which is correct, per the Samsung support web site).  If I click "not now" it goes away, only to pop back up randomly several times a day.
I've been in Software Updater and can't find any way to stop this.  I've been to the Samsung web site, and I have (and have had) the latest driver for well over a year.
How do I get it to stop this new and very irritating habit??
    Tks!

Thanks for the link.  Here's the part of the thread that helped me...
What worked for me was telling it which printer to print to on that server by, instead of clicking the IP item to add the printer:
    1. On the Mac, when Adding a Printer in System Prefs, right click on the toolbar, selectCustomize Toolbar..., and add the 'Advanced' item (looks like a gear)
    2. Now, when adding a printer, select that Advanced item (looks like a gear). Select from the drop down 'LPD/LPR Host or Printer', and URL: islpd://(ip address of your printer)/(name of printer) So for example, if your shared printer's name is RW-240 you would use lpd://10.0.1.1/RW-240 using the specific IP of your PC and printer name. Then select your Driver as usual and add.

  • Looking for recommendations for a good small color laser printer

My trusty Canon inkjet is on its last legs and I am considering getting a color laser printer.
I need it to have ethernet so all computers on my home LAN can print to it.
I am currently looking at the Samsung CPL-315W and the HP Color LaserJet CP1518ni Printer.
Pros: Samsung is smaller than the HP
    Samsung toner is cheaper
HP print quality is rumored to be better
    Cons:
Samsung toner is more difficult to find locally
HP printer is more expensive ($309 compared to $199)
If you have any advice or experience with these printers, I would appreciate it.

    hi cejones,
Did you end up finding a printer?
I'm looking as well. I have the Samsung clp-510 and while it's very reliable, the UI for mac is terrible. So terrible in fact that I still have it connected to a PC b/c their UI is much better for controlling colour etc..
i'm looking for a wireless solution.

  • Compatible Stationary Color Laser Printer:

Which printers that are color laser printers
with stationary cartridges (cartridges that do NOT move when printing) lol.
that are compatible with Apple Mac OS 10.4.11
    AND
    A Power PC G3 Processor????????????????
I have a Samsung CLP 300 Color Laser Printer with stationary cartridges ("NO-NOIS")
But the software says "Sorry this software requires a G4 Processor which this system does not have".
    Very Annoying. }=[
It works...but the printing comes out terrible. Everything is smashed together on the left side of the page. Whether it is text or images.
I recently learned that Samsung, even with their "NO-NOIS" stationary cartridges, has very limited Mac compatibility. =[ It is just like google software. (excellent software but not made for macs).
I do not care if the printer is big or not. I just want a compatible color laser printer with not moving cartridges. (I had an HP color laser printer with moving cartridges...which is the component that broke). So which printers are similar to Samsungs, but with better compatibility????????
I have an idea that makes sense: Since I am using Apple computer, then why not connect an Apple Printer???? lol. I can get an "old" Apple Color Laser Printer. However, do the cartridges move? I hope they do not move.

    Very Important Update!!!!!!! =] =] =] =] =] =] =] =] =] =]
I got it to work. I had it plugged into the original USB 1.0 ports and all I did was plug it into the USB 2.0 PCI Card that I added to it recently.
And that is all that it needed. Everything prints perfectly... word processor documents, images, and anything else. So this means that whenever I need to get a color laser printer I will just get anything that I can find on ebay. ( I am going to put a color laser printer for each desktop and perhaps a few for the laptops when I repair them. ) I am very happy about this; I was probably going to have to spend $400.00USD for a confirmed compatible color laser printer but now I don't have to worry about that expense. I really like color laser printers because they are easier to print because the fused toner won't run like ink would. I have HP PSCs, which print (in ink) so I don't use them to print, only to scan...so I have one connected to a USB 2.0 port and I am downloading software to see if it will scan. I am probably going to post a question about scanning... but this question about printing has been solved. =]

  • [SOLVED] CUPS doesn't detect USB Samsung ML-2010 printer

Hi. I only speak a little English. Sorry for that.
I have got an USB Samsung ML-2010 printer. Before I used cups-usblp from AUR, and it worked. But it doesn't work now. The cups-usblp maintainer suggests to use cups instead of cups-usblp. Searching with google, it appears that other people don't have problems with this printer, cups, and archlinux. But I do. Cups' web interface doesn't detect it.
Well, this is how are the things now:

    Solved!
    Restarting cupsd didn't work.
    But reinstalling cups...
$ sudo pacman -Rdc cups (it is a dependency of kdeadmin-system-config-printer-kde which I had installed)
    $ sudo rm -r /etc/cups/*
I realize cupsd is already running:
$ ps aux | grep cupsd

    felipe    1694  0.0  0.0   8416  1024 pts/1    S+   21:13   0:00 grep cups
    Ok. Reinstall cups
    $ sudo pacman -S cups
    Start cups daemon:
    $ sudo rc.d start cupsd
Open firefox. Go to web interface, bla, bla, bla.... And it's there!
I feel really silly. It was a fresh install, so I didn't think about reinstalling.
Printed some jobs and worked perfectly. I used the gutenprint driver.
Thanks a lot, pyther.  I thought yours wasn't a very useful suggestion, but it really was. I'm so happy. I owe you.

  • Cannot SCAN with Samsung SCX-4500 Printer, New iMac w/Leopard

I just purchased at an Apple retail store, a brand new 24" iMac along with a Samsung SCX-4500 laser printer, copier and scanner. Bad news is I can't get the scanner function to work. It prints and copies but doesn't scan. I went to Samsung and downloaded the lasted and greatest drivers but no scanning capability yet. Has anyone else purchased this printer? Is it compatible with OX 10.5 or is the Apple store just trying to get rid of printers that don't seem to work with Leopard. This bugs me. Any help would be great.

This is from another forum as I was looking for the answer to the same issue:
First off, when Samsung labels a button "Scan to PC", they mean it. That button only works with Windows PCs not Macs.
To get it to the Samsung SCX 4500 to scan on your Mac you need to acquire the image using some other software. I used Preview.
Put the picture or document that you want scanned on the bed. Open Preview. From the File menu, select the Import Image... option.
The scanner activates and you will see, you guessed it, a preview of what is to be scanned. Notice that the scan button is grayed out.
You now have to click and drag a box around what you want scanned. Once you draw your box identifying the exact image to be scanned, the Scan button is enabled. Now adjust any options, and hit Scan. Enjoy.
