Samsung note II, known issue of aol mail not being received on phone
I spent hours on the phone with Customer Service this past Wednesday & Thursday because my aol mail is not being received on my new phone. I just did some research online, and found out this has been an issue with AOL and Verizon since December 2012. The Customer Service rep told me this just happened the past week! What a bold faced lie!
I purchased this phone on or about July 3, and the AOL mail was working fine until this past Wednesday.
This is a know issue, and yet the lie right to your face about it.
I had a C/S rep tell me he would call me back later in the day, before he left work. I told him, I have heard that before. Oh, no, I will call you. Of course he didn't call. Your C/S reps think they can say whatever they want, but the calls have been monitored or tracked someway by your computer system.
I see many others have the same problem with the Samsung Note II and their email accounts.
Since December this has been going on, don't you think it's time you fixed the problem?
Two years ago, when I spent $200 on a phone, I said never again. But yet I wanted a 5.5" screen so I paid up! Never again!
I FINALLY spoke to someone today who was able to solve my problem so far.
In the PLAY STORE....look for K9 email app.....and download that...put in your AOL email address and password. You should now be able to receive your aol email on your phone.
It seems he has a Note II also, and had the same problem.
You would think that MANAGEMENT would tell all their C/S reps how to solve the problem. I guess they would rather lose a customer who has been with them for 10 yrs.

Get providers outgoing address and enter it after you have deleted and set-up a new e-mail account. Enter the address under Host instead of the smtp.aol.com one, click done and it works...worked for my ipad and iphone after I lost it when upgraded! Hope this helps...

This may sound stupid, but I'm gonna throw it out there anyway. Is it possible, that if I have enough junk on my desktop it might disrupt the signal? It seems odd, but it kind of looks like my signal is strong and relatively steady now that I've cleaned my desktop. I do tend to get very cluttered. I use a lot of reference images and save text clippings to use later... it just piles up very quickly.
So, I wonder if all that extra effort my system has to do keeping up with the junk might have something to do with the drop outs? -

Don't know any other way to put it. I typed in the correct password. Now the account is locked. Iforgot does not send an email verification. The email is not in the junk mail or anywhere else. It is typed correctly. This is frustrating. I was just trying to update the Ipad Mini. I wanted to change the ownership to my husband and noticed that my daughter attached a new Icloud account. I was just trying to verify her account. I have the correct password. Now the account is locked out.I figured it out. It's a little confusing. I was trying to add a new email address for iCloud and I was supposed to type in the main iCloud user ID and password. The wording is not helpful because it displays the name of the new email address.

I'm not able to send emails with mail.ru. Receiving is not a problem. Creating a mail is also not a problem and the mail will be stored at mail.ru as still to be send, only problem is its not possible to send. I noticed the buttons for sending change colour when used but they don't perform. What it is?
Don't know what changed, but all of a sudden able to send emails by mail.ru ...... sorry for bothering.

Aol mail not working in Mac Mail
I have had this problem several times and it's getting rather irritating. The SMTP servers are not responding. The following message keeps coming up:
Sending the message content to the server failed.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.
After changing ports and following the numerous suggestions experienced by countless others with the same problem time and time again I still have found no solid reason as to why this happens or how to simply resolve the issue.
If anyone with knowledge and experience can shed any light on this troublesome problem then please make yourselves known.
I have followed threads and made all the correct adjustments including deleting and creating a new email account. Is this an AOL issue or a Mac issue? The mail works fine on the ipad and iphone.
I have also tried using different wifi and cable connections with the macbook I have my account installed on. It's the latest software 10.8.4 and a macbook pro 13'. 2011 model.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

AOL mail not appearing on macbook
If I log into AOL through Safari, I often find that I have emails at AOL.com that do not appear in my mail notices on my Macbook pro, but if I look at my ipod, they are always there. Is there some setting that I need to change on the laptop?
I had the same problem for the past few days. I'm using Hotmail and Gmail with Exchange Active Sync. I'm receiving e-mails with sender and subject but no text in the body of the e-mail.I'm from The Netherlands so i guess it's not a provider issue.
I tried deleting my account on my iPhone 4 and re-enter my settings. But still was getting empty e-mails. I shutdown my iPhone 4 completely and then i restarted it and now all my e-mail appear with text in the body of the e-mail. -

Try to open Aol Mail and the rainbow circle says "not responding" . I have shut down computer and restarted, no help. This has been going on for 5 days. I can receive mail from aol on my ipad and iPhone..please help
I have been reading a great deal of posts regarding AOL mail in the last few days. I would go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars and check the account settings. What troubleshooting have you tried? Reporting that prevents users providing help from repeating what you have already done.

I just recently noticed all my mail on my aol does not load.
all my accounts load completely my .mac,gmail etc..
just the 1st 10 emails load and that's it, it doesn't give me the option to load 25 or 50 more like it did before. it was fine before it would load all i want. now it's change.
i tryed deleting the account from my phone and setting it up again but nothing.

And I don't think Apple will fix that, since they don't really talk about full support for AOL, just Yahoo and Gmail -

I have had this phone for a year. This is the second time this has happened. The first time it seemed to fix itself (or at least I don't remember how it got better).
Originally the AOL push worked great and mail came instantly.
The AOL mail is set to push but it does not do that. Instead I have to hit refresh. When I do this it can run for an hour sometimes. When I do see new email come through I often get an error message that I cannot open the mail because it is loading - but it can continue to load for 30 minutes. GMail works fine.
I have restarted, removed battery, reloaded, etc. Any idea why this is happening and how to fix it.Errrr I would give up AOL, if I were you.

I am having trouble with my AOL mail on my IMAC. It keeps coming up with the following message.
Cannot send message using the server smtp.aol.com: XXXXXXX
Sending the message content to the server failed.
I have checked the settings and password. I have also deleted and re entered the account. I have sent a test message direct from AOL and it has worked. I have also set up a GMAIL account on mac mail and it has worked. I am stumped on what to do next. Any ideas please.After exhausting all possibilities regarding this problem I finally spoke to someone at Apple care who solved the problem.
So here is the work around which worked for me.
Close Mac Mail
Open Finder Window- click on GO menu then press and hold the Option key(alt key)
This will display your User Library. Click on the Library icon
Locate 'Mail' file and drag to desktop,
Locate Preferences file and locate com.apple.mail.plist. file
Drag to desktop,
Log out and log back in again-or restart computer,
Open Mac Mail and create new Aol account- or whichever account you use, eg, yahoo or Gmail etc.
Sometimes only deleting the .plist file is not enough, you may need to delete the actual 'Mail' file at the same time.
Moving them to the desktop is a safety net so that if it doesn't work properly after you restart and re-enter your account information at least you have it as back up and you can go back and re-install it and try another method.
This worked perfectly for me. I hope it does for others aswell, because I know how frustrating it is to go through all the forms and keep getting the same answers but no solutions.

Well, I've ensured that the username and password in the mail settings are correct. I've also gone to the web interace for AOL mail and the username and password are correct. I've also removed the account from the iPad and tried readding it with no luck.
I'm wondering if this has something to do with the recent SSL / TLS security problem that came to light the other day?!?!
Anyone else experencing this?I have two AOL accounts that are working fine. However, I get the same message from time to time on my iPhone and my iPad..... And I get the message out of the blue for no reason at all. I either wait it out, or more often than not, I close the mail app completely and restart or reset my devices and that works for me.
What I am saying is, I think that it is more related to something hinky on the iPad and not AOL itself. Reset your iPad and see if that helps.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
