Samsung Professional Display 40" LED LFD inquiry

I  recently acquired a Samsung Professional Display 40" LED LFD as a gift from my future father in law. He said he had no use for it as he recently upgraded to a multi-screen command center.
The upsetting part is he never used it, and its new in the box.
What I wanna know is what its worth and where/how can I sell it?
I have no use for it, I've got plenty of HD screens in my house and I dont own a desktop for it either.
The part number on it is ME40C, in my research, all I can find are ME40A's and ME40B's.
ME is the series, 40 is the size(40") and the nomenclature on the end is for generation, I suppose?
It's got all the original packaging and heck, the remotes and cords are still in their bags from the box.
Anyone got any idea what its worth?

TheLexMachine wrote:
If you sold it, you could probably get $500 for it if you were lucky. NOBODY is going to pay you the MSRP for that thing or anywhere near it because it's grossly overpriced for what it is. The problem is that it is a professional/industrial display that is more or less a low-end HDTV with PC inputs and some other stuff that isn't found in HDTVs and nobody really wants or needs those things. Even media professionals don't buy those displays as they prefer actual HDTVs.
These aren't meant for media professionals, they're meant for public displays. These are the monitors you'll see in airports, storefronts, kiosks etc... The RS-232 and ethernet ports in the back are used with the Samsung MDC software for video walls. This model is going for about $800.00 on Ebay.
Media Professionals don't use HDTV's either. They use reference monitors that can run anywhere from a just over a thousand for a 20" LCD to over forty thousand for over 40".

  • Display problems when connecting Samsung external display to Macbook Alu

    Here is the deal:
    1. I got a new Macbook Aluminum (yesss!)
    2. I got a sweet 23" Samsung LCD display (2048 x 1152)
    3. I got a DVI to Mini Display Port adapter
    4. I hooked the two up
    5. At first couldn't get a resolution higher than 640 x 480
    6. Figured it out
    7. After the Macbook went to sleep I tried to wake it up using my BT keyboard
    8. Screen came up with static/noise and then flashed the desktop off and on
    9. Unplugged display, opened Macbook to wake it up
    10. Macbook won't wake up. Caps lock key lights up, but that is it.
    11. Force shutdown and reboot
    12. External display works again, until later when Macbook falls asleep
    13. Here we go again
Yes I have downloaded the latest update. I have reset the PRAM, etc. with the help of an Apple support agent. So far, the problem remains.
Does anyone have any ideas? Any solutions other than me having to drive me lazy butt over the hill and taking 3 hours out of my day to have a Apple Genius look at my Macbook?

Don't bother bringing it to an Apple store and wasting your time. I'm pretty sure your problem is a known issue with the software and not hardware. I suggest you get a hold of Apple over the phone, make sure you talk to a "product expert" and not a general rep and I'm sure he'll clarify it with you.

Can i stream my ipod display on LED tv via apple TV ?
I tried this using "apple to hdmi" cable . I am able to see the display for IPAD but i am not able to see the display for ipod touch .. facetime, playing videos also didnot stream the display on tv.So planning to buy apple TV .
Please let me know if i can stream my ipod touch 4th generation display on my LED TV ?

The 4G iPod does not support airplay mirroring like the iPhone 4S or iPad 2 (and later) with iOS 5 and later. Thus you iPod will only AipLy for apps that support AirPly.
From the Videos, iPod, Photos, Music, and YouTube apps on iOS devices, stream videos, music, and photos to an Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation), or stream music to an AirPort Express or compatible third-party device.
With iOS 4.3 and later, you can also stream video and audio from a website or a third-party app installed on your iOS device if the developer for the app or website has added AirPlay functionality.

  • Hewlett Packard Elite Display E271i LED Blacklit Monitor _flickerin

    Dear HP Team,
    I have a new
Hewlett Packard Elite Display E271i LED Blacklit Monitor. It is plugged via HDMI cable and a Mini Video Port adapter to my mac book pro _ Version Mac OSX 10.7.5.
This is now already the 2nd monitor I got, the first one had on the 2nd day a flickering view and I sent it back to the shop I bought it from.
The new one had today - the 2nd day working with him - the flickering again, short but still it is not possible working during that period - I plugged everything out and it worked again.
Since during this phase I cannot really work on graphic work, it is very anoying.
Is there a reset or how can I handle this problem when it appears again.
    Thanks for help! Dinah

    Hi,
Can you try to connect the monitor on another pc and see if you still see any flickering?
Maybe the problem could be the miniport-to-hdmi adapter.
I had the same setup as you (adapter + macbook pro connected to monitor). The adapter stopped working after some time.

  • How do I get rid of random screen flicker and black screen when using a late 2013 Mac Pro with a 4k Samsung 55" Display?

I have a new Mac Pro late 2013 and a 55" 4k Samsung display connected using an HDMI cable. For the most part the display is amazing, however, I get occasional screen flicker and black outs. Can anyone help? Could I possibly have a bad video card?

4K displays take more than half the bandwidth of a ThunderBolt Bus. So you may get better results if you are careful to place them on their own Bus. This article has the explanation of which port is using which Bus:

  • 19" Samsung 2nd display has "wavy" lines

I bought a Samsung SyncMaster 906bw as a second display for my 24" iMac. I have it connected via the included VGA cable. The displays resolution is at 1440x900 with 60 hertz.
The problem, is that there are wavy lines continuously moving up the display. It's kind of hard to explain, think of those bars moving up a CRT display when they are filmed on video. I've tried adjusting the resolutions and hertz, but no dice. Any idea what could be the problem? Is it the display, or the video card?

    "Wavy lines on the screen:
In some instances you may encounter wavy lines on the screen. These are usually 1/4" thick and move in a vertical motion. This is caused by a noisy electrical feed from a wall outlet. If you change your vertical refresh rate under display properties to 75Hz this effect should disappear.

  • Samsung Widescreen Display

I thinking about getting a Mac mini and I'm wondering if it would be compatible with my Samsund 940BW 19" widescreen display. I beleive the native resolution on the display is 1440x900. I'm currently using the monitor connected as second disply for my iBook and the resolution is good, but I'm wonering if it would be even better coneected to a mini. Thanks.

    Hi...!
Most people here are wrong about your iBook not getting any better resolution than 1024x768.
You can surpass that with the help of the "Screen Spanning Doctor" for iBook.
Just google for those words and you will have the possibility to use resolutions up to .. a lot!
I used my Samsung 226BW 22"-display and had 1680x1050-resolution with good performance.
But I sold my iBook and bought a Mac mini with Core Duo and I'm very satisfied with performance and graphics... I love the DVI-quality.

  • A "professional" display of a video? How do I control the video display?

My goal is to display a quicktime video I have created using my MacBook Pro on a video projection system at a party.
The video is about complete. What I want to do is either have a still frame showing on the projector, and the right time, just show the video, or have a black screen until I show the video. At the completion of the video I want the screen to go back to black. At no time do I want to show on the projector the desktop or any of the quicktime controls.
What can I do from the laptop side that would allow me to bring up the video and freeze it at a title screen and then start it without any keyboard activity being shown on the screen?
Though, without doubt, I am an amateur at this, I would like the presentation to be as "professional" as possible, given what I have to work with.
All help and ideas are greatly appreciated....
    Paul

Your best bet is to use the "blank screen" feature on the projector. Almost all projectors have this feature. You can then turn on and blank the projector screen, get the video running on your mac and then unblank it when you are ready. When the video is over, blank the projector at the end of the video and then worry about closing the video on the mac.
If for some reason the projector does not have this feature, or it is not convenient (for example, you can't find the remote to the projector and don't want to walk up to it, or it is on the ceiling) then your best bet is to edit your video so there is a few seconds of "black screen" at both the start and end of the video. Then get your video started full screen, pause it before it starts THEN turn on the projector (that will only be displaying the still blank frame and then you can start the video when you are ready. When the video is over, stand by and be alert so you can pause it when it hits the blank screen at the end of the video. You can then power off the projector.
Hopefully you will find one or both of those solutions helpful.
Whatever you do, MAKE SURE to TEST it out before hand! There is nothing more un-professional then when I see people bring in laptops that they have never used with an external display before and have no clue how to get the video out enabled. (with mac's its automatic, but with PC's sometimes you have to push a funny keyboard combo like FN + F8 to get it to work) The audience then gets to stairs at the "NO INPUT" screen of the projector as you scramble around tying to get it to work. lol.

  • Someone help me please. Should i return my samsung 55" 8000 seried LED

I got this open box almost a month ago... $2249.... $2450 out the door.... Its amazingly real... But after looking at CES and seeing all the WIFI enabled tv's and the CELL tv from toshibia... for a little cheaper im debating on returning it... i have 3 days left until my 30 days is up... I know i got a great price on it but should i just pay the same amount for a more current model?  Please help me... im on a budget too and really didnt want to spend more than 2000$ but the samsung was a great deal at the time... That new VIZIO 55" is looking pretty sweet to me... Should i return it and just get a better model in a few months?

Are these prices at best buy, or over the internet? And whether you should retern it depends on if you would really use those extra features or not. If not its not worth the hassle in my opinion.
And me personally, I would not trade a samsung for a vizio but that is just my personal opinion and nothing more.
If it were me I would look at the tvs your considering and make sure they actually look better and offer more features than the current tv you have.
I can't imagine the CELL tvs will be cheap either. And there is nothing currently out that can utilize that much rezolution, so it will be upconverting everything. LCD and plasma display the picture in their native resolution, so if its less than the native resolution it has to upconvert it. Which means extra processing. And if that tv is four times the resolution of the current 1080 standard it would be upconverting every signal it gets. And upconverting it a LOT.
Might look really nice on good source material, but it could really look bad on something of lower quality. I would have to look REALLY hard at one and test it with different signals to make sure it really looked that good. I simply can't imagine needing that much resolution on a 55 inch tv unless you were sitting 3 feet from it lol.
I mean I looked at 1080 and 720 tvs and opted for a 720 because I honestly couldn't tell the difference. I could not imagine being able to notice four times that.
Might make one heck of a large computer monitor though if you had a video card that could run that high.
Now that kind of resolution on a large front projector would be interesting to me, but not on a 55 inch lcd tv. Again just my opinions, never actually seen one just read about them.

  • Msi z97 gaming motherboard displays debug led D0 (00) .

    Hello all.
    I urgently need some advice.
I recently bought a msi z97 gaming 5 motherboard and I had it installed into my rig.  Everything was working fine. I decided to do some cable management in my case today and afterwards wanted to switch my pc on to find it dead. I switched off the power and made sure that I discharged all electrostatic power.
The psu delivers power to the board as all the case fans spin, the light trail lights up an my fan controller works.
My peripherals (key board,  mouse) don't   light, as well as my monitor. There is ia also no boot beeps.
The debug led displays a code 00 which is  not in the manual. I already tried removing the cmos batery  and also cleared the cmos with the cmos jumper en still nothing.
I even removed both my ram modules and still no boot beeps.
If there is someone out there please help...

i got the same issue by chance few days ago 00 error but with dual bios chip board.
    and able to fix it,
i narrow it down that somehow the bios chip selection wasn't switched ..
even after power off, and flip the switch i meet 00 error and no LED on bios chip has light
switching to the secondary bios chip worked fine,
then when i flip the bios chip while the system was booted, switching was successfully,
and at next power off and power up was booting with the other bios chip fine and no longer 00 error
however for your board, i see board has 1 bios chip only
im not sure if would have bios chip led indicator or not..
checking high res image of your board at: https://media.msi.com/main.php?g2_itemId=110010&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
think i can see the led indicator side by side to JBAT1
so your board probably also should have bios chip led indicator
and based on your second photo that you provided: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=253991.0;attach=22345;image
i don't see this LED to light... it should be near to 00 debug code
so probably bios chip doesn't kick in for some reason...
and i don't know how this can be fixed since your board don't have dual bios chips..
looks like something become damaged when you tried to re-arrange your cables..
else don't have idea what else you can try, except to rma the board

it only happens with black/dark colors and not with green, red etc.
i tried connecting diffrent input devices that worked on other TV and it seems the problem is with the tv.
    plz help (:

    Hello there ras81-
Welcome to the Best Buy forum!
It certainly sounds like you’ve got an annoying issue with your TV.  My recommendation would be to check Samsung’s support page located here to see if they can help.
If you can’t find anything there, you may want to contact Samsung directly about service or you can also contact our Geek Squad at 1-800-433-5778 to see about scheduling service with a Geek Squad technician.
    I hope that this helps!

  • New mini with new samsung 2494Hm display *****

Hi folks, I connected my new mini to my samsung 2494HM monitor via HDMI and the picture *****, I have tried all the various adjustments and I can't make it good.
    Any advice?
    Thanks,

I just changed to the HDMI > DVI converter which comes with the mac, it seems better but I still have white 'ghosting' around the black letters on the grey mac page headers.
I used the monitor calibration process in system preferences but it's no better.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • IMac display or a Samsung external display?

    Hi
I am in the market with $1200 to spend on a computer. I was looking at a Mac mini + a Samsung 20 Inch monitor + Apple Keyboard + Logitech Mouse=Somewhere around $1100
The iMac is not so far away from the $1100 price tag, but i hate the Chin on the iMac and simply adore the Samsung 20 inch(because it doenst have a damm chin)
I am going to use it for Word Processing, Pictures, iMovie, iChat(no webcam on the mini)
    What would you recommend?
Mac mini or iMac 20 inch

I'd recommend waiting to see what new products are announced on January 15th at Macworld before making your purchase.
    http://www.macworld.com/article/61311/2007/12/jobskeynote.html
The iMac is great, but several users (such as myself) have experienced screen problems:

The mini has been rumored to be discontinued in the near future, but no one knows for certain.

If you wait just a little longer, at least you can make a more informed purchase decision.
