Samsung RAM work in PB?

Samsung
Model#M312L2923CZ0
1BG DDR PC2700 CL2.5 ECC X 2
Will this pair work in my Powerbook 1.33Ghz? Are they 200 pin? I can't tell anywhere.

    Does this Samsung RAM work?
It's not listed as compatible either on the forums nor in MSI's documentation.. although it's not listed anywhere as uncompatible, either.
I just want to run it at stock timings (for now).

I've got a coupld of builds with Nvidia 250gb chipsets that work with Samsung. I have a couple that don't.
It's really dicey with Samsung memory. I would say don't use it.

  • Samsung ram not recognised?

I have the later revision of the G4 aluminium with 1400x960 screen. Currently it has two 512 MB Samsung DDR2 sodimm modules in it. I replaced these with identical but larger modules (two 1GB Samsumg modules). I get either one or three beeps (no ram/not recognised) depending on the configurations I try. The new ram specs are:
    Samsung 1GB PC5300 SO-DIMM Notebook Memory
    M470T2864EH3-CE6 0839
    Brand: Samsung
    Memory Size: 1024MB DDR2
    Memory Speed: 667MHz PC5300 200 pin
    ECC-register: No
    Memory Type: DDR2
    CONDITION: Brand New
    Any ideas? Thanks.

First off, I will say good choice on the Samsung, since they are OEM suppliers for Apple, and I only use their RAM in my machines. I find them completely compatible and never had problems. Now, as to why you are having a problem, that is odd. I do know that not all Samsung modules may be compatible... it has to do with the model number / part no.
The other reason you may have could be the lower RAM slot problem? Just a thought.
Second, people will tell you that you are using the wrong RAM and that it should be PC4200, but the PC5300 is known to work as well and is fully compatible so that is not the reason for the incompatibility. Crucial lists it on their website as compatible, and at one point, Apple had that part available as an upgrade option on their website (online store) for people who wanted to upgrade the RAM in their DLSD PowerBooks. I also confirmed this when I bought two sticks of PC5300 Samsung RAM pulled from a MacBook and sold by Other World Computing (www.macsales.com) in their clearance section and it worked like a charm in my PowerBook.
If I had the RAM on hand, I'd give you the exact part no., but I've since parted with my trusty 15-incher and upgraded to a unibody MacBook Pro. But me having a photographic memory of sorts (hey there's a pun there!), the part no. you have listed doesn't look familiar to me. Where did you get your RAM?

  • Suspend to RAM works but awakes immediately (pm-suspend)

    Hello,
After after years of being unable to make suspend to RAM works on my lenovo Y530, I have finally found people who can do it. The trick is simply to add a new rule in /etc/pm/sleep.d/. I will edit the arch wiki page concerning the Y530 if I get it to work, but right now my problem is that the laptop immediately awakes after what seems to be a fully working suspend to RAM. Here is the log of pm-suspend :
    Initial commandline parameters:
Wed Dec 29 19:24:32 CET 2010: Running hooks for suspend.

As you can see, everything works fine, except the fact that the computer awakes 7 seconds after going to sleep... Of course I'm not touching it when it goes to sleep. I've also tried to disconnect everything I could (USB device and wifi).
Is there anyone who have already seen this kind of thing?

Just out of curiosity, are you wired in to a network? I've heard that data transfer over ethernet will trigger the wake-on-lan settings in the BIOS, which would wake it from sleep.

  • Will the ram work?

Will this ram work in a imac(ambient light sensor)?
And also will this be a "matched pair" with the original 512 stick?
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820141164
    thanks!

    CanadaRAM:
i You're better off shooting for a 1 Gb DIMM than trying for matched pairs with another 512 Mb. Besides the probablility that it won't match, the benefit of the extra 512 Mb RAM far outweighs the negligible real-world benefit of "matching" for 128-bit access.
The OP is probably better off just going to a "matched pair" of 1 GB DIMMs. That would both max out the capacity, and provide the 128-bit data path.
If he's willing to shop at Newegg and take the risks that something might not work, then there are matched 2 GB kits there at reasonable prices.

  • RAM Worked in One T30 but Not Another

I have two 1GB sticks of RAM: DDR 333, FDMHGO-04032T
This RAM worked fine in a T30 2366-85U laptop
I put the same RAM in a T30 2366-KU1 laptop and it doesn't work - in either memory slot. The BIOS is 1IET71WW (2.10 ) 06/16/2006, which is I believe the latest BIOS for this laptop. The 2366-85U laptop no longer works, I dropped something on the keyboard and that killed the laptop, so I can't check it for BIOS version.
Is there something I can do to get the two 1gb sticks of RAM working in the 2366-KU1 laptop?
Not sure if RAM can be damaged, but could it have been damaged when the other laptop died?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Welcome to the forum!
The RAM sticks in question should work in any T30 with no issues.
Having said that, have you tried different RAM in 2366-KU1?

  • "Low heat" & Samsung ram?

I’m looking to buy more memory for an iMac G4 1.25 GHz.
This site gives me the option of having “low heat” ram, or low heat Samsung ram for ~$30 more. What’s the difference?
    http://www.oempcworld.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=PC270 0-SODIMM

From what I read, when I bought Apple-certified Samsung RAM for my iBook
1.33 G4, which coincidentally also runs in the user accessible slot in the iMac
G4 1.25, I figured the odds were more than good this product was the best.
I figured if adding a cool running RAM chip did save a few degrees of heat,
that would be a good thing over the life of the product. The fan seldom runs.
In my iBook, this gives me 1.5GB of RAM; adding a PC2700/333 Samsung 1024MB.
And the low-profile 512MB chip in my iMac G4 is interchangeable. More RAM is good.
Best quality is better than just having more; especially when the factory inside slot is
    upgraded. {That can cost more than the difference, when the new RAM is bad, in there.}
Of course, that chip is a standard 184-pin and not a 200-pin laptop chip.
And the price now (at OEMPC World) is lower than what I'd paid, including mail order to
here, so it is a fair price, compared to about $112, I paid over a year ago. Still it's a bargain.
Looks like the same RAM I bought (in iBookG4.) If you happen to go into the iMac G4
to replace the battery or other stuff, that's a time to upgrade the inside RAM to 1GB.
You can use the next higher spec RAM in there, but it will show only as a PC2700/333.

  • Mac pro put in new ram now none of the ram works

mac pro put in new ram now none of the ram works
    it just hangs on restart
the ram worked great for 12 hours then the computer restarted on its own
since then it hangs on restart and never gets to the desktop

It may not have anything to do with the RAM, or it might.
Not enough to go by to say for certain, and the blunt "get new RAM" doesn't address how to troubleshoot or resolve most likely.
    Was it installed properly?
    How much did you install?
    Make? vendor.
Try running with just the new RAM.
Run Apple Hardware Test - boot 'd' key on startup, you may need your OEM Install DVD.
Run Rember and/or Memtest utility to test memory, or TechTool Deluxe.
When a computer restarts on its own it often means there was a kernel panic or something and damage to files, directory, journal and in need of repair, booting off your DVD or another drive to repair the drive, delete some files, turn journaling off and then on.

  • Suspend to ram works with powersave daemon but resumes on lid open

Is there any way to modify this behavior? I have a T60 and utilizing the powersave daemon my suspend to ram works fine, but I can't find a way to stop it from resuming when I open the lid of my laptop. I am using the stock 2.6.19 kernel.

yea just strange because in XP this behavior doesn't occur, so I figured it wasn't bios related (newb assumption?) i'll look into the above assumptions.
it doesn't bother me all that much, it probably truly only interferes once in a while, but i guess it is a control issue. after all, if you dont have control under linux, then where else would you? haha. especially if winxp is getting the job done. heh
    Thanks everyone for hte suggestions.

  • Suspend to RAM works only 1-3 times

    Hi!
    PC configuration:
    MSI E350IA-E45 (AMD Fusion E-350 Zacate), 2Gb RAM, 500Gb HDD, Arch x86_64.
    # uname -a
    Linux xbmc-pc 3.0.0-rc6-mainline #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jul 8 07:58:00 NOVST 2011 x86_64 AMD E-350 Processor AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
I am trying to get suspend to ram working. When suspending the machine second or third time it hangs with black screen an green power led. I need to unplug the power cord and back it again to bring the machine back up.
I tried 2.6.38, 2.6.39 and now 3.0-rc6 kernel, but without success. The unbinding usb-ports and unloading sound, video, network modules does not help.
Also I have debugged DSDT table and replace it with grub2 at boot.
The bios for mb is the latest version.
    lspci -Q -vv
    dmesg
    kernel.log
    pm-suspend.log
The logs are for one one successful suspend and one unsuccessful.
    Any help will be appreciated.

You run the risk of owning perfectly good memory that does not happen to work in your Mac.
The best way to shop is to patronize Vendors who promise:
    "It works in your Mac,
    Or your money Back."
These guys do and usually have pretty good prices as well:

  • Will 800MHz DDR2 SODIMM RAM work OK in a 667MHz mid-2007 iMac?

    Will 800MHz DDR2 SODIMM RAM work OK in a 667MHz mid-2007 iMac?

While TECHNICALLY it might work, in practice iMacs tend to be very sensitive to mismatched RAM modules and frequently experiece system instability in response.  I would not recommend mixing and matching RAM in your iMac.
    Hope this helps

  • Will this RAM work with my mac?

    Hello,
I have had my iMac for a year now and recently I have decided to upgrade the memory.
I bought the mac with one stick of 1 GB PC3200 ram already in, and now I want an additional 1 GB. I did my research and think I have found the right ram at a reasonable price.
the following link is to a stick of Kingston 1 GB PC3200 RAM non-ecc with a CAS latency of 3.
    http://www.pricegrabber.com/searchtechspecsfull.php/masterid=1515555
everything seems fine except two things.
1.) How can I figure out what the CAS latency of my current RAM is? ( I am guessing 3 is standard, so that I should be fine, but if there is a way to check I would appreciate that)
2.) Does valueRAM actually lead to system problems for macs? ( I read an earlier post that said that they might lead to kernel panics)
If anyone has any information to help me I would be extremely grateful.
    iMac G5 2.0 GHz (pre-iSight)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Thankfully I figured out the best way to deal with this RAM compatibility problem.
Instead of paying 150 for the Samsung ram from OWC I took a little bit of time to check ebay and found the exact RAM that is in my computer (down to the part#) for 120$.
I pay 20 bux more, but in return I don't have to worry about any technical problems arising from incompatible RAM and pay much less than what OWC offers.

  • What RAM works with KT3 Ultra (Orig) ????

    Hey there,
SORRY BIGDADDY.  Come to find out a new board
did not fix the prob I am having probs with the OS. Not
only that but several other programs don't work
like burning software, drivers, and the new DX won't
even install right.  I figured NEW CPU...but as you can
see I need NEW RAM.  So instead of buying PC133 for
almost the same price I figure get some DDR 2100 for
about $10-20 more and the KT3 is $10 more.  Do the
math here and I could substantially increase my comp
    considerably. :D
Foreveryone out there I need to know what ram works
with the KT3 Ultra.  I know this board is very picking
about ram since the AMI bios is the issue.
    I am looking at these:
    1) Kingston PC2100
    2) Crucial PC2100
    3) Micron PC2100
Thanks in advance for any replies
