Samsung SC-D353 w/ Mac OS 10.4.4

I can't get this camera to function properly with my Powerbook G4. I've tried going to the samsung website to look for a driver that I could download because the software in the box is only compatible with Windows OS's. I just want to be able to import the movies somehow (into iPhoto or just drag and drop into a folder via Finder); however, when I tried to open the movie up that I shot from the camera, Quicktime displayed a message saying that a certain component is needed. WHAT COMPONENT!>!?!? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Hi Jared,
you have connected your camera via FIREWIRE not by the included usb cable? iMovie doesn't support the later..... get any 4/6pin fw cable for few$ at any electronic supplier.... and: a Mac doesn't need "drivers", only younger, immature Operating Systems need such ;-)))) (I know, in technical terms this rant is wrong, but I can't resist.......)
you try to "download" the content on tape, not any stills on any chip/memorystick/whatever? iM is meant to work with miniDV video only - in that case, miniDV means also a compression standard.... any "mpeg video" has to be imported via the app "image capture" and has to be converted with additional tools....

  • Can't get my samsung sc-d353 to work on imovie 09'

I have a samsung sc-d353 camcorder and I can't get the video to convert to imovie 09' how can i fix this?

Your camera is very confusing. It appears to use a proprietary Samsung format called SMP4. But it also appears to have a Firewire connection.
It would be worth a try to get a firewire cable and connect to your camcorder through that. Firewire (IEEE1394) is a standard, and no special drivers are needed. If your Mac has Firewire 400, then you need a 6 pin to 4 pin FW Cable. If you have a newer Mac with only a FW800 port, you need a 9 pin to 4 pin FW cable.
If that does not work, [see this long conversation about converting the SMP4|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7892755]

  • Access Files on My Samsung Continuum from my Mac

    Hello,
How can I access my files on my Samsung Continuum from my mac computer?
Samsung says that my device cannot be mounted:
    http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/jsp/faqs/faqs_view_us1.jsp?PAGE_GBN=faqs_search&SITE_ID=22&PG_ID=0&AT_ID=342136&PROD_SUB_ID=0&PROD_ID=561
Does anyone have any other ideas of how to download/access the SD card?
    thanks,

    Good morning andrewiskandar,
The Samsung continuum comes with an 8GB pre-installed microSD memory card. Is this the card we are working with? Also, if your Mac states that it accepts the card version that you posted, then you may need a memory card adaptor to the standard SD memory card format. Once you have the adaptor, the pc or Mac will recognize the memory card. On the pc, the card will come up as an add'l drive in "My computer". On the Mac, an icon will appear on the desktop to represent the memory card. Once the computers recognize the memory card, you can manipulate and transfer media on either platform. I hope I didn't overwhelm you with too much info.
    Good luck...

  • Problem connecting Samsung Galaxy SII to Mac book Pro

Hello. I have issue with connecting Samsung Galaxy SII to Mac book Pro Late 2011! When i connect phone to Mac via usb, phone makes sound but nothing happens. Even if i open Transfet tool. Problem is not in Phone or wire as on another computers like my MinMac it works fine. Also on Windows side all is ok. Mac book Pro USB ports also are ok as it finds and open my iPhone5! Is there possibility that there is some faults with USB drivers in Mac book Pro! How can i reset or restart usb drivers if fault is there! What else you can suggest to try?
    Thanks!
    Best regards,

i did went to Samsung Support: here is the result of it:
Isabella: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Visitor: Hello Isabella. How are you today ?
Isabella: I am fine. Thank you for asking.
Isabella: Please proceed with the query.
Visitor: I hope you can help me fix connecting issue for Galaxy S II with my Mac Book Pro late 2011. It was working till some day and now it does not recognise it when i connect phone via USB. I should note that on Windows on same machine or on my Mini Mac it works fine. so it can't be problem in wire or usb ports. Could not find answer in Apple forums and in forums they did suggest to turn here! I hope you can help me!
Isabella: I understand that you are finding difficulties connecting device to Mac. Am I correct?
Visitor: yes. but only to one specific Mac. as to others it connects without a problem.
Isabella: Thank you for the details.
Visitor: i think problem is in driver only i can't find how to manually remove from Mac
Isabella: May I know the model number of your phone? To know the model number of the phone, please tap on Home>> Applications>> Settings>> About phone.
    Visitor: GT-I9100
Isabella: Thank you for the model number.
Isabella: However as you are able to connect the device to windows and Mini Mac then there is no issue with the device. This seems to be an issue with the Mac.
Isabella: However we in Samsung US do not have the instructions on uninstalling drivers on Mac.
Isabella: I request you to contact apple for support related to Mac.
Visitor: Yess it is probably issue with drivers on that particular Mac. Might be you can guide me to location where Kies or phone driver is stored on mac? I then will try to manually delete is from system or replace from another machine
Isabella: The model number you have provided is an international model and we do not have any information on the device you are referring to.
Isabella: I would have surely provided you with the information if we had the information available with us.
Visitor: If you don't know might be you could escalate to some higher level ?
Isabella: It was a pleasure assisting you. Thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. If you have a minute, please click on the blue “X close” button to receive a transcript of your chat and fill out a brief survey to help us serve you better. Have a wonderful day!
Chat session has been terminated by the Samsung Agent.
So i was terminated and left without answer. But i did not expect anything else from Samsung Support..
So might be someone of you know where drivers are located? i could try to copy them from one machine to another manualy!!!

  • Resolution of Samsung T220 monitor with Mac Mini (or any Mac)

I'm looking at a Samsung T220 or T220HD paired with a Mac Mini, or more probably new Mac Mini to be announced in Jan, 2009. The maximum resolution for the T220 is 1680 x 1050. The Samsung manual states that the T220 usually supports all Macs, but to check the "Preset Timing Modes" to ensure Mac is supporte for this model.
When checking the T220 user manual, the "Preset Timing Modes" section indicates only the following resolutions when connecting to a Mac:
    MAC, 640 x 480
    MAC, 832 x 624
    MAC, 1152 x 870
Does this mean Mac owners can never get the maximum 1680 x 1050 resolution out of this and similar Samsung monitors, only 1152 x 870? If so, what's the point of investing in a good quality monitor that gives Macs only mediocre resolutions?
Any Mac owners getting 1680 x 1050 out of their Samsung T220 or T220HD?

    Hi there
I just got a new Mac Mini and a 32 inch Samsung LCD 450 series. I am not sure of max resolution but I know it's a 720p set. I have been impressed with the plug and play set up via a VGA cable. But, I can not seem to figure out how to get the max resolution set up either.
The Mac display preferences only give me choices for standard monitor sizes that are not proportional to the Samsung screen, I have tired both 800 x 600 and the 1024 x 768 I have mixed and matched this with changing the picture proportions on the TV (16:9 vs 4:3). Things either seem stretched or overly square.
Am I missing something here, Is there somewhere else I should be looking for settings to tweak?
Any help or steering toward other resources would be most welcome.
    Thanks, Josh

  • Samsung tv LE32R86BD and mac mini: No Signal

    Hello dear mac users!
Today i received my new mac mini (the new model) from the official Apple distributor here in Greece
with all the adaptors needed to connect it to my Samsung LE32R86BD tv
and that is a mini display port to HDMI adaptor and an HDMI 1,5m cable.
Well, i unpacked the mac mini, pluged the cables in to my LE32R86BD tv which had the notification "check the cables" on screen for the HDMI source.
Once i switched on the mac mini, with the familiar check sound, the notification on tv changed to "No signal" and remained that way.
After a minute i heard a voice saying "English".
So im guessing that mac mini boots fine but why no signal on HDMI?
I tried the HDMI cable of my apple tv and still no signal!
    How can i solve this?

There are at least a few possibilities for what went wrong. One thing could be that the adapter you have is defective. Unless it is confirmed to be working with another TV or monitor, there is no way to know.
A second possibility is, when the mini first starts, it may output a low resolution that is compatible with most/all computer monitors but perhaps not with your TV. So it may that a computer monitor will have to be used at least for the initial set up and thereafter the TV can work as the monitor.
Also, is the mini connected to HDMI2? The user manual for that TV says that only HDMI2 is compatible with computer connections.

  • Samsung laser blurry on Mac only, not Windows!

Have a new Samsung CLP-610ND color laser printer, running via USB from my iMac 2.4G with 10.5.4. Test page, or printing from Windows via Parallels or Boot Camp, looks great, but whenever I print from any application on the Mac side, the print is blurry, almost "shaded." Have installed and uninstalled Samsung drivers from disc and website multiple times with no improvements. Would really like to keep this printer - I think it's a driver issue? Samsung cust support has been no help. Anyone, please help!!! Thanks...

Guys, breakthrough (at least for CLP-315 owners)
The new driver SOLVES this problem I'm very happy
It's version 1.07 and is new.

  • Update Samsung SSD Firmware on Mac

    Hello,
I am a proud owner of MacBook Pro i5 with a Samsung 128 SSD.
Recently, Samsung issued a firmware update. Normally, I'd have to take the SSD out, plug it into a SATA Windows machine, create bootable USB and update the firmware there.
Does anyone know any workaround on how to update SSD firmware on my Mac without having to plug SSD into windows machine? I recently found some blog about creating bootable WinXP CD and install firmware that way. I tried that, but it did not work, as I got some error messages while creating the BootCD and then the SSD updater from Samsung did not work...
I need this firmware because of TRIM support for Win7.
    Thanks in advance,
    Milan

Thanks for your answer, but thats not gonna happen, since the firmware needs to be started from a USB bootable disk. You cannot boot it off of BootCamp partition, since firmware update wipes all data from SSD.

  • How to properly eject samsung android phone from mac

    Any pros?
My mac doesn't even recognize the samsung android phone.
I can't use Android File Transfer, it says device not found.
Don't see "unmount" or "mount" in the phone's notification bar.
    Android forum *****.
    Any help?

    Hi n,
If it's not mounted, there should be no need to unmount it. Open Disk Utility and see if it's recognized there, and/or System Profiler.
Also, you're showing 10.6.4. You might want to run Software Update to get up to 10.6.8.

  • How to improve the picture on a Samsung TV from a mac pro?

I currently have a Samsung HDTV [ 1920x1080 ] connected via a VGA cable to my 2007/8 Mac Pro through a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT card.
Can I improve the sharpness of the Samsung by connecting via the HDMI/DVI sockets on the back?
Having said that the NVIDIA doesn't have a HDMI/DVI output [ long thin USB type connector ] so presumably I would I need a converter.
    Maybe a new video card?

Can I improve the sharpness of the Samsung by connecting via the HDMI/DVI sockets on the back?
VGA is purely analog, so the digital out put of your computer has to be converted to analog and then back to digital when it gets to the TV. DVI can carry both analog and digital; most likely it will use a digital connection and should be much sharper. Without the model number of your TV it's hard to say.
Having said that the NVIDIA doesn't have a HDMI/DVI output long thin USB type connector so presumably I would I need a converter.
If your TV only has an HDMI connection than yes you need a DVI to HDMI cable: http://store.apple.com/us/product/TR842LL/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY.

  • Dual Samsung 2343bwx Monitors with Mac Mini

I am looking to purchase the new Mac Mini Server for my lab, but have a question. I currently have dual Samsung 2343bwx monitors attached to a Windows 2008 server (please no snickers, I am replacing it with a Mac!) using UltraMon to span the desktop across both monitors. My question is can the Mini support both monitors at 2048 x 1152, and give me the same functionality I have now?
If it does support it can you tell me what connectors your are using?

Should work ok. The 2048x1152 16:9 aspect ratio on the 2343BWX is only slightly more pixels than 1920x1200.
    See this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9855163&#9855163
And spanning shouldn't be a problem, either.
