Samsung SCX-4200 with Lion?

Hi there,
has anyone had luck yet using an SCX-4200 Laser MFP for scanning on Mac OS X Lion?
Printing works, but the universal scan driver does not find my scanner...

If you want to use the Samsung SCX-4200 printer on OS X you will need to get the latest printer driver from samsung.
http://www.samsung.de/de/support/detail.aspx?aguid=3c6280d5-8701-434a-a664-a28cb 5131a74&dl=driver
It would then be the first driver to use. For scanning it still does not work for me. Samsung only updated the page and states the drivers to be suitable for 10.3 to 10.7, but scanning is not available in LION ....

  • Hi anyone got a SAMSUNG SCX-4200 PRINTER working with a Mac ?

Hi has anyone managed to get a Samsung scx-4200 printer working with a mac?
2011 driver was the last driver update for mac i hear, downloaded tried a couple but no luck!!!

okay, from what I've read, samsung driver support lies with Apple and not Samsung, so if you can, do a software update
you can try here, apparently, for something that sorta works with your printer
    http://www.samsung.com/nl/support/model/SCX-4623FN/SEE
    other than that, Gutenprint maybe?
for scanning, I don't know, maybe vuescan
sorry, the crystal ball has gone darkk......

  • 24" iMac 2.8Ghz - won't print to Samsung SCX-4200

New Aluminium iMac connected to 3 printers. Epsom PictureMate and HP Color Laserjet 2600n both work fine. However, Samsung SCX-4200 does nothing when I try to print. Printer appears in the Dock but when I view the printer jobs for the SCX-4200 Series it sometimes shows the job for a short period then says 'No job printing.' The unprinted jobs appear in the completed jobs section as 'Untitled'
The SCX-4200 works with Image Capture (for scanning) so it seems to be connected OK. I have tried deleting and adding the printer but to no avail.
I'm also suffering a very intermittent WiFi connection to my router but that's another story.
    Any ideas please.

Obvious really. I have never bothered updating drivers with my macs as it all seemed to happen in the background but a quick visit to the Samsung site, a very easy download, and it started working immediately. Thanks.

Do a google around for that printer and airport usb.. (since airport is more common).
    eg. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1785847?start=0&tstart=0
Not all printers work or work well through usb print server.. often the drivers are just not written for remote usb connection. Or the printer is GDI type and actually needs direct connection to process the job.
Proper network inkjet printers are cheap.. keep the Canon connected to a computer if you want.. and get a wireless or ethernet network printer.. do not use the USB.. use the printers own internal print server.. and these days make sure it does airprint if you want to use iOS devices.
Remember the printer is cheap.. the companies make all their money on blades ink cartridges. Which they now add chips to, to prevent you cheating and buying OEM types.

  • Samsung SCX-4200 Scanning Problem

I have a Samsung SCX-4200 Printer/Scanner. I can print to it, but I can't my computer to recognize it as scanner. It used to work in Leopard, but now doesn't work in Snow Leopard.

I have managed to find a solution to scanning via my Samsung SCX-4826 multifunction. I plugged it in via usb directly to my Mac Pro, installed the printer and scan-thru software and expected it to just work. Printing worked the first time, however the scanning was tough. This is not the cleanest solution, but it works just fine for me. So I installed Acrobat Pro and use the Create PDF From Scanner command under File and it finds the scanner. Then it pops up the Samsung software and scans right into Acrobat. In order to scan another document, I need to quit Acrobat and restart the application for it to recognize the scanner again. If this is how it needs to work, fine with me.

  • Updating to Mavericks Samsung Scx-4200 can no longer print and scan.

In the Apple's driver list my Samsung Scx-4200 doesn't appear any more.
Are there any other compatible drivers to make my printer working?

    Hi,
just found a solution! It seems that there is a compatible driver afterall...
Go to this link (it's an official Samsung dutch site) and scroll down to where it says "Stuurprogramma" and download the Scan Driver which is for Mac OS 10.9 (61.44MB) http://www.samsung.com/nl/support/model/SCX-4623FN/SEE
If your Mac doesn't extract the zip automatically then extract it manually. Go into the extracted folder and launch "Installer OS X.app". Note that the Mac OS Gatekeeper might not let you open that file as it might treat it as malware etc (which is weird because the driver came from official Samsung site...). In that case just right-click on the file, then hold down ctrl and click on Open. That should do it. From this point on everything else is straightforward as in a casual installer. Note that you should quit any other open applications before installing scanner drivers!
Now the installer contains several different components (printer driver, scan driver, scan thru software and ica driver). I installed all of these components! Also note that the installer will ask you to restart your computer after it has installed just the first or second component, but don't restart it at this moment. Keep installing until you have installed everything you can (until there is no more installer icons in the dock) and after that you should restart your Mac.
When the Mac has restarted, connect your SCX-4200 to your Mac via usb and go into Applications folder and navigate to Samsung --> Scan & Fax Manager.app. Launch it and you should see your SCX-4200 listed in there which should let you use it as scanner...
    Hope this helps.

    HI,
This may be a problem. That model is not listed here. Mac OS X v10.6: Printer and scanner software
Nor is there a GIMP available. http://gutenprint.sourceforge.net/pSupportedPrinters.php
    Try here. Mac OS X v10.6: Mac 101 - Printing - Troubleshooting
I noticed on the Samsung site they offer a Universal Driver but only for Windows. Not Mac friendly for sure.

  • Samsung SCX-4200, Print and Scanning now working in Snow Leopard 10.6

I found the printer can print right off the bat by selecting the SCX-4300 series driver after the auto-detect.
For scanning, install the Scan driver on this page:
    http://www.samsung.com/us/support/supportDownloadCenter.do?prdia_cd=N0000191&prd_mdl_cd=SCX-4200%2FXAA&prd_mdlname=SCX-4200
You'll need to restart your Mac, but now it works perfectly

    Hey all,
A quick follow-up to keep you up to date with regards to the repot above...Upon launching the Scanner service from within System Preferences > Print & Fax > "Open Scanner", in a working setup (i.e. upon a fresh system restart), the console presents the following:
    20/4/11 3:15:07 PM          PrinterProxy[1162]          *** Assertion failure in -[NSMenu itemAtIndex:], /SourceCache/AppKit/AppKit-1038.35/Menus.subproj/NSMenu.m:779
    20/4/11 3:15:07 PM          PrinterProxy[1162]          Invalid parameter not satisfying: (index >= 0) && (index < [_itemArray count])
This new clue along with all the previous console messages probably shout out the cause of the problem, but as I mentioned before I am unable to interpret any of it..Bring on the big guns...any UNIX/OSX masterchiefs around here?
    Regards,
    Dimitris

  • Problem scanning docs with Samsung SCX-4300 with OS 10.4.11

On my 1.86ghz Intel Duo running OS 10.4.11, I installed the print and scan drivers for the Samsung SCX-4300 multi printer. At least I believe I did, cause I can print fine. And in Image Capture, I can see the SCX-4300, and can see an overview of the page that I want to scan. But the scan button itself, never turns from grey to black, so I can't activate the command to scan in Image Capture. Any ideas?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Sometimes click and drag from top left to bottom right let's you highlight the area of the page you want the scan to appear in on some scanning software, and that then enables the scan button. Have you tried that? Note: I don't have your particular scanner.
Some scanners have a scan button on the scanner, and that offers on an LED display the option to scan to document. That should activate software on the Mac if the scanner software is known to be 10.4.11 compatible.

  • HT3669 Has anyone installed a samsung SCX-4826 with mountain lion?

I'm having problems installing the driver for my macbook pro. I've installed the samsung driver pack but it doesn't support the SCX-4826. I've tried the samsung website but that didn't work either. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I found these instructions from another thread and it works.  I used the SCX-472X.gz file and it works fine so far. The features for 472x and 4826 seems to be identical.
here's a solution that worked for me:
download the samsung printer drivers: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL905
open SamsungPrinterDrivers.dmg file and copy the contents to your desktop
download unpkg - a small, free app that simply unpacks the contents of .pkg file into a folder: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/16357/unpkg/
launch unpkg and drag the file you copied on to your desktop on to unpkg to extract it to a folder on your desktop
connect yoru printer to your mac via USB
open system preferences > print & scan > add a printer
ignore the prompts to download and add software from Apple - it clearly doesn't work
highlight the printer and select use > other from the drop down to select the driver
navigate to the folder on your desktop you extracted in step 4
    select SamsungPrinterDrivers > Library > Printers > PPDs > Contents > Resources > Samsung CLX-3180 Series.gz
It will add your printer with the basics. You can then download all the other Samsung software for your printer, including the Smart Panel app, which will then give you the supply levels for your printer when you click on the Printer > Options & Supplies > Supply Levels. I managed to get the scanner and fax working too. Plus the wireless set up.
It's poor form that there is no official, working set of drivers and software for what is a relatively new printer. It's not a cheap printer either so Samsung should get cracking and sort it out. But perhaps they're too busy with legal proceedings....

  • Can anyone tell me if they are using the Samsung SCX-5636FN with S.L

I would appreciate any feedback on these printers and what peoples thoughts are on using them with Snow Leopard. I want to be able to print AND scan via the network.
The other printer I am looking at is the Brother 8460N and I can confirm this one does work, but seems to have a short toner life.
    Thanks in advance.

    Had to purchase the Brother..
