Samsung SE-208BW mount with no permissions

I just bought a Samsung SE-208BW,  I am unable to access files from the SE-208BW over build in wifi or connected to my LAN.  all folders mount with the Red no permissions Icon. and i get a permisson dialog "Items can’t be copied to “Desktop” because you don’t have permission to read them."  if I try to copy a file from the Unit via its own wifi or connected to me LAN.
I can not even play a DVD or CD on my laptop.  I can how ever play DVD and CD on my iPad or iPhone.
My main reason for buying this unit was to use it as a Network DVD/CD play ..

I had the same problem..and solved it by connecting the device once with a networkcable to the same wifi router (or switch) you use in your home. When it's connected by wire choose the SSID of the SE-208BW in your wifi settings on the iPad. By doing so I will connect very fast and you can start the Smart Hub app. After this make sure you register the iPad (use Smart Hub app on iPad). If the registration is complete you can take out the UTP-cable and everything works via WIFI!
Good luck.

  • Distorted audio when using BlueTooth with Samsung i500 Vehicle Mount

    The audio is severly distorded using a bluetooth headset while the phone is plugged into power using the Samsung i500 Vehicle Mounts built-in power port.  The only workaround I have found is to flip the phone around and plug power directly into the phone instead of the Samsung i500 Vehicle Mounts built-i power connection.  This issue has been reproduced using different i500 Vehicle Mounts, different USB power cords, and within differnt cars.  There doesn't seem to be anyway to get the distortion to go away except to not use the built-in power port on the mount.  Please let me know if anyone knows a fix for this issue.

    Yeah, the built-in audio connector on the Vehicle Mount also doesn't work.  When I bought my mount there was a little sticker over that connector that said it wouldn't work until Verizon updates the fascinate to version 2.2.  However, nothing I saw indicated that using the built-in power connector would cause bluetooth audio distortion.  So at this time I just put my phone into the mount backwards and plug the usb power chord directily into the phone instead so that the bluetooth audio quality is ok.  When I want to get sound on my radio I just plug an audio cable from the sterio into the phone's headphone jack.  Oh and I might as well add that if I get a call while I have the audio cable plugged into the headphone jack there is no way for anyone to hear me when I answer the call.  So I have to unplug the audio cable before answering the call.  Unfortunately, I've found that when an audio cable is plugged into the headphone jack, the phone disables speakerphone and bluetooth.    Let's hope they get these issues fixed when they roll out the 2.2 software update.

  • [solved] findutils - problem with file permissions

    Hey,
    I tried running makepkg -c for an updated PKGBUILD of a package I maintain in the AUR (gretl), and it seemed fine but then hit:
    ==> Tidying install...
    -> Purging other files...
    -> Compressing man and info pages...
    -> Stripping debugging symbols from binaries and libraries...
    -> Removing libtool .la files...
    -> Removing empty directories...
    find: invalid predicate `-delete'
    I'd had some other strange errors with find over the past few weeks or so (my last -Syu was after this month's catalyst driver came out with support for the current kernel) but had shrugged them off. This error made me decide to try reinstalling findutils, and it gave the error:
    error: cannot remove file 'usr/bin/find': Operation not permitted
    a bit stupidly, I tried pacman -Rd then -S findutils, and now I get
    error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
    findutils: /usr/bin/find exists in filesystem
    Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
    missing dependency for ca-certificates : findutils
    missing dependency for initscripts : findutils
    missing dependency for mkinitcpio : findutils
    missing dependency for texinfo : findutils
    ls -als /usr/bin | grep find     gives:
    12 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 10636 Mar 25 16:24 deepfind
    64 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 59200 May 9 01:58 efinder
    64 -rwxr-xr-x 1 500 500 59536 Jun 16 14:49 find
    and rm, mv, chmod, chown etc on /usr/bin/find as root, and from livecd, all also come back with "Operation not permitted".
    find seems to work fine for a few simple uses I've just tried.. but the last time I ran makepkg -c without the error was before the last system upgrade, so I'm guessing find didn't upgrade properly then due to whatever is wrong with the permissions, leading to the other errors.
    Anyway, I guess the question is, can I do anything to get rid of /usr/bin/find and reinstall findutils? don't mind so much about missing dependencies as I tend not to upgrade that often, but find not doing what it should is a bit of a pain.

    mm I tried all that, and no luck. though trying adduser 500 did give me a helpful reminder that usernames can't start with numbers...
    anyway, it's not a huge deal atm, and I can always clean reinstall the / partition if things really break. Thanks all the same.
    PS:
    huh, just had a thought - I remember how I used to get annoyed how mounting partitions using ext2ifs in windows didn't respect permissions properly. and now I almost wish I had a windows partition / that this wasn't a laptop hard drive...

  • Why I can't mount with Rox but works from a terminal?

    Hi,
    I'm using Xfce4.2 (RC-3) and I use rox as file manager. The thing is if I try to mount a cd by clicking on the icon while using rox, nothing is happening. But if I open-up a terminal and type "mount /mnt/cd" it works!  :shock:
    As root, I can mount with rox without problem. I dont think its a permission problem, because like I said, from a terminal I can mount without problem (as normal user)...
    Any idea?
    Thanks

    Gnipper wrote:
    I believe Rox reads from the file /etc/fstab in order to mount drives. Check that this file has Owner, Group and World read permissions set. i.e. start Rox as root, navigate to /etc, right click on fstab then select 'Properties'. Under 'Permission - Read' make sure the Owner, Group and World boxes are ticked.
    You might find that the Xfce file manager (xffm) has the same problem mounting drives until you change the fstab permissions. Hope this helps.

    Bingo! You're right Gnipper!
    Thank you very much

    Hi, I try to conect Mac Mini from 2009 with my HD Tv Samsung F 6400 . With Mini Dvi conection and adapter to HDMI input in TV I got picture but not sound! I have analog cable from the phones out from mac but imposible to conect to TV? Can you HLP?

    You really need a newer Mac Mini with a true HDMI output, because that Mac Mini's DVI output does not support Audio.
    You might try a 3.5mm to RCA adapter
    from the Mac Mini's headphone jack to the TV's audio input,
    but that would require being able to select the Audio input in the TVs menu while using it's HDMI input.
    Optionally you could also use an external 2.1 Speaker System or patch the audio from the Mac Mini to your home stereo system to enhance that older Mac Mini's audio.

  • I have connected my new Macbook Air to my existing Samsung large external monitor with a VGA adaptor but I can't get the full mac desktop to display. No icons but then websites are coming up. Help!

    I have connected my new Macbook Air to my existing Samsung large external monitor with a VGA adaptor but I can't get the full mac desktop to display. No icons but then websites are coming up. Help!  Further info:  I am a complete newbie to Mac.  Had three macs prior to 2000 then four PCs.  Just come back and struggling a bit with the unfamiliarity. On my old PC laptop I could simply switch from the laptop screen to the large external monitor (and back)  with the F4 function key.  While I can get the background image from my MBA to display, that's it.  Until I noticed on the far left of the external monitor, the very edge of one of the web pages I was on.  So Idragged it over to display in the centre.  But that's all that's there.  And now I have gone out of those web pages but they are still displaying on the monitor.  There is some wierd disconnect.  I'm sure it is just a setting thing.  Will keep searching for answer but any advice welcome!

    Your dsplay is getting extended onto the external monitor. Chcnage the setting to duplicate it or only display on the external monitor and you should be fine,
    Let me know if this worked for you.

    If your external drive does not have an independent power supply, you may wish to consider a couple of lower-cost options before tossing the drive. Bus-powered drives have no external power source and must get all their power from the computer. They can exceed the computer's USB energy budget.
    Cheapest option:
    1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
    This gets power from two of the computers USB porst sna can provide enough power to wake up an under-performaing bus-powered drive.
    If you don't have enough ports to use this, try the next cheapest option:
    Newer Technology 7 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Hub with Power Adapter for Mac & PC
    Such a hub has a an independent power supply to make up for wahat the comptuer fails to provide.

    Hello again.
    I'm still having problems with this. I made
    a simple servlet that reads from and writes
    to text file. The reading part work fine on my
    computer, but the writing doesn't, not even
    an exception is thrown if the file exists that
    I'm trying to write to. If I try to create a new
    file I'll get an exception about file permissions.
    I also asked a friend of mine to try this same
    servlet on his windows computer and it works
    as it should.
    Here's the code
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class ReadServlet extends HttpServlet
         public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException
              String s = "";
              PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
              String docroot = getServletContext().getRealPath( "/" );
              out.println("docroot: "+docroot);
              File file = new File(docroot+"test.txt");
              if(file.exists())
                   s = readFile(file);
                   out.println(s);
              else
                   out.println("file not found");
                   //file.createNewFile();                    // causes exception
                   //out.println("new file created.");
              writeFile(file, "written by servlet");
              out.println("Now look in the file "+file.getPath());
              out.println("and see if it contains text 'written by servlet'");
         public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException
              doPost(request, response);
         private String readFile(File file)
              FileInputStream fis = null;
              BufferedInputStream bis = null;
              DataInputStream dis = null;
              String s = "";
              try
                   fis = new FileInputStream(file);
                   bis = new BufferedInputStream(fis);
                   dis = new DataInputStream(bis);
                   s = dis.readLine();
                   fis.close();
                   bis.close();
                   dis.close();
              catch(Exception e)
                   e.printStackTrace();
              return s;
         private void writeFile(File file, String s)
              FileOutputStream fos = null;
              BufferedOutputStream bos = null;
              DataOutputStream dos = null;
              try
                   fos = new FileOutputStream(file);
                   bos = new BufferedOutputStream(fos);
                   dos = new DataOutputStream(bos);
                   dos.writeChars(s);
                   fos.flush();
                   bos.flush();
                   dos.flush();
                   fos.close();
                   bos.close();
                   dos.close();
              catch(Exception e)
                   e.printStackTrace();
    }And if someone wants to test this servlet I can
    give a war package.
    Any advices?

  • External Drives Won't Mount with Mavericks

    My external drives will not mount with Mavericks. They did for a while but I noticed that they stopped doing so a week ago or so. I have a drobo raid, hitiachi drive in an external case and a WD Passport. The drobo goes to sleep, the Hitachi external spins and the WD flashes like its being read.
    None of the drives were mounted when I loaded Mavericks and, as far as I know, they've not been erased. They did  mount for a few weeks but doesn't look they have since the beginning of November.
    I have a brand new 2013 MBP 15" Retina with 750 GB SSHD, 16 GB ram and a 2.7 GHz i7. The drives are all connected via one FW800 through a Thunderbolt dongle.

    I eventually gave up. I will probably get another card at some point but it probably won't be a SIIG card. Even though they are recommended by digidesign I just doesn't seem to want to work with my G5. Maybe it's some kind of weird software conflict blocking the functionality of the card? Don't know. Two cards in a row were non functional. Something is gummin up the works and the PCI slots work with the other cards I have. The only thing I did not try is plugging in the optional power connection to the FW800 card, which is supposed to be optional. I called SIIG and they had no idea what the problem was and they also said that the power plug would not make a difference for the problem I was having. Anyway, I'm gonna keep monitoring posts to this cause I'd love to hear the answer.. but I'm throwing in the towel. Good luck to the rest of you still trying to solve the riddle.

  • Firefox allows Java Applet with elevated permissions

    I ended up with a virus on Friday when I selected "View" on an HTML attachment from the GMail web interface. The attachment started up java and proceeded to install the malware "Desktop Security 2010" and make changes to my system startup. I'm wondering how this happened and how to prevent it. My java security settings (Java Control Panel->Security->Certificates->Trusted Certificates) only lists Akamai Technologies and JavaFX as trusted certificates. Shouldn't that mean that I get prompted if any one else signs an applet that tries to run outside the sandbox? What else do I need to do to make sure that NO java applets run with elevated permissions?
    I've disabled java via an add-in in the meantime, but what do I need to do to secure my browser properly?
    == This happened ==

    == I selected "view" on a virus-infected email attachment in gmail

    Хорошо. Am now able to enter Cyrillic font into my applet. HOWEVER, another issue remains: After pressing enter to process input, new window opens as expected with correct information displaying in window EXCEPT for drop-down menu bar that should display in green square of open window. http://www.lesbaileyev.com/Project/RFvstem.html I will open another suport question for this new development.

  • Protection Domains with static permissions are improperly constructed

    I'm pretty new to the java security model, but this doesn't look right. It seems as though ProtectionDomains with static permissions have symantically different functionality than those that are constructed with the "variant" constructor(CodeSource, PermissionCollection, ClassLoader, Principal[]). The documentation enforces this idea "The only permissions granted to this domain are the ones specified; the current Policy will not be consulted". Why then are the ProtectionDomains reconstructed improperly in combine(ProtectionDomain[], ProtectionDomain[]) method of the javax.security.auth.SubjectDomainCombiner? The wrong constructor is being called.
    The reason the SubjectDomainCombiner is reconstructing these improperly is because it ownly uses the second form of the ProtectionDomain constructor. In my case the SubjectDomainCombiner is reconstructing a ProtectionDomain that was constructed with the first form. Basically this means that the staticPermissions variable in my ProtectionDomain changes from true to false. Then when it's time to call the implies(Permission) method it consults the current policy instead of ONLY using static permissions.
    This is causing havic with my custom classloader because I don't want the security manager checking the current Policy for permissions. I only want the ProtectionDomain's static permissions. Bug 4687166 also deals with combiners improperly constructing ProtectionDomains, but it is NOT a duplicate.
    Now this means I'm going to have to extend the Policy class to get around this problem. Something isn't right, if it's me, please let me know.

    interesting - if i follow what you're saying, you expect SubjectDomainCombiner to inspect the input ProtectionDomains. if one was constructed with "static" permissions, do you expect SubjectDomainCombiner to create a new ProtectionDomain with the additional Principal info, while retaining the static permissions?
    or do you expect SubjectDomainCombiner to just leave that ProtectionDomain alone - in particular, do not update it with Principal info since it won't affect the permissions granted to that domain anyways?
    either is an interesting change to contemplate, and is a technical possibility for SubjectDomainCombiner (since it is J2SE code). however, to come up with a true solution available to any custom DomainCombiner would probably require public API changes to ProtectionDomain.

  • Maxtor OneTouch III does not mount with Firewire

    My Maxtor OneTouch III does not mount with Firewire.
    I changed both cables, and ports on the drive to try with my 400 port on the MacBook Pro.
    The drive will start up, the light will flash, remain steady, flash again. And then just as the Mac finishes booting, the light turns off and it does not mount.
    It works just fine with a USB cable. But I bought it so it could be used as a firewire drive.
    Other firewire drives work.

    Hi Judy,
    Has this external HDD ever worked while connected with FireWire? (In other words, did the drive just stop working via FireWire, or is this the first time you've tried to hook it up via FireWire?) Does it work over FireWire on another Mac?
    If the answer to those questions is no, it's likely that the firewire ports on the external HDD are bad.
