  • Kindle Fire $50 Trade in Denied

I tried trading in my Kindle Fire (1st Gen) at the Fenway, MA store (#804) for the Samsung $50 promotion.
Customer service officer had no idea of the promotion so I had to show him the website. He later denied me saying that the Kindle Fire is not a tablet but an ereader and is only eligible for a trade in value of $2.
Can someone please clarify if the Kindle Fire is eligible for this promotion and if not, why it is considered an ereader when it obviously runs on Android with similar apps.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Good afternoon councilmage,
Thank you for taking the time to sign up for the forum.  I can understand questioning why our Fenway store may have denied your trade-in, especially when the Kindle Fire is categorized as a tablet on BestBuy.com.  Being that the original Kindle was solely an eReader, the associates may have assumed the same of your Kindle Fire; however, it should be considered more of a tablet, which means it would qualify for the current trade-in offer.
I am very sorry for any inconvenience you may have experienced while at the store, as we should be more familiar with our current promotional offers.  I am going to connect with the store managers from our Fenway store to ensure they have the correct information.  The offer is valid up until 9/6/2014, so I am going to suggest that you go back up to the store to try again.
If I hear back from the store or have an update, I will send you a private message.  You can check your private messages by logging into the forum and clicking on the envelope icon at the top of the page.

  • Lack of value in promotions for some customers

I've been a long time customer with my first phones being on Alltel plans before Verizon acquired/merged with them and currently on my second smartphone, soon to be third on their service. However, as a single person, the buy 1 get 1 free promotions on the better/best phones being offered are meaningless. Tweaking the promo slightly to entice friends who are on Verizon and both having contracts up, to pair up and take advantage of these deals would make sense and demonstrate you want to work with and reward all of your customers with the potential savings. As it is, deals like the current buy 1 Samsung Galaxy S4 for $100, get one free translates to $50 a phone, which is exactly what Best Buy is selling them for. So your current promotions do nothing but drive some of your customers to consider other options for places to spend their money at for phones on your service plans when the idea of promotions is to entice people to buy from you.

    HI,
One option may be, you can copy the 6230i messages to the PC and then paste that in Nokia e71. Hope it may help you

It’s competition time! Just in time for Christmas we have two Samsung Galaxy 2 Tablets up for grabs exclusively for our forum members!
There’s two chances to win so here’s how it works:
Between now and 16th December we’re inviting all registered forum members to submit a photo taken this year, or in a Christmas past, that really captures what Christmas means for you. It could be a Christmas family photo, a great present, a winter scene or something else entirely – we only ask that it’s a photo that you have taken, and not one belonging to someone else (or one found on the internet). By entering a photo you agree to having it posted on the Community Forum lounge for the second part of the competition.
To submit your photo please PM it to SeanD or StephanieG by 5pm on 16th Dec, the Moderators will convene and judge the best photo, which will be announced on 19th December – winner will receive a brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.
The second chance to win will be from 19th Dec to 23rd Dec – during this time we’ll post the winning photograph in the Lounge and invite you all to caption it with a festive phrase, the best caption will win the second Samsung Galaxy 2 Tab. Again captions should be submitted to SeanD or StephanieG via PM by 5pm 23rd December and the caption competition will be judged by the Mod team with the winner announced after on 23rd Dec.
Please note that if you win the photo competition you can’t also win the caption comp as well!
Prizes will be sent to the winners after the 23rd December.

    Hi all
I'm really pleased to announce our photo competition winner, congrats to StuartRogerson - one Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 will be on Santa's sleigh with your name on it shortly!
But there's still one Galaxy 2 to be won in part two of the competition - see below for the winning photo from Stuart. We felt this picture best captured the feeling and meaning of Christmas - but what do you think? PM a caption for this photo to StephanieG or SeanD and we'll select the best as the winner, it should be something that captures the spirit of Christmas - it can be funny, seasonal or sentimental. Last day for submitting your captions is 23rd Dec (by 5pm) so get your thinking caps on, we're looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

  • Group Skype on Samsung Smart TV's. Does it work?

I have a 65" Samsun Smart TV with a Logitek HD Skype TV Camera.  The TV has a app for skype but I cant see how you do Group calling thru my Smart TV.   Is it available on the Samsung Apps?
If not, when will it be available?   I can do Group Skype thru my Laptop and use a HDMI cable to run it thru my SMART TV but its just a hassel to hook up everything.

Like I stated it's probably an issue with dedicated processing power more than firmware since group video calls require machines that can host them.  If the current hardware is unable to host a multiparty call it won't ever happen.    Smart TVs generally use ARM processors so even if it is of a high frequency it doesn't have the same footing as a standard X86/64 processor.   It would be impossible to speculate since Skype doesn't put out any roadmaps.  Anything that is going to come out soon tends to be broadcast in press/web style communication.  If a feature like group video calling isn't offered or promoted with the product, I have doubts an upgrade of that magnitude, if possible, would be made.

  • Samsung UE40D8005

    Hi,
I consider buying the Samsung UE40D8005 for the living room, and I want to use it together with my iMac 27 or maybe a new Mac Mini as a media centre, both for streaming content and for downloaded movies.
The question is, can I expect good picture quality, both when looking at movies, and if I want to use the TV as monitor for the iMac or Mac Mini?
When Googling, I see several posts on poor quality using UE40D8005 with PS3, during to some Samsung image processing, and if disabled, the picture quality is said to be poor as well.
    Any experience or recommendation?
    Regards,
    Erik
BTW, my idea was to use XBMC as user interface for the media center

A lot of carriers remove features from phones in the name of exclusivity and security.  Remember when Verizon wouldn't allow Google Wallet?  Now they have no choice since ISIS was bought by GW.  There are other browsers, though IDK if Opera, Dolphin, etc...  allow  the finger scanner function.
AT&T has removed the Download Booster feature that simultaneously uses Wi-Fi and LTE data to deliver faster speeds; the Simple Sharing feature that lets you more easily share large files with friends; Microsoft’s OneDrive application, which came with 100GB of free cloud storage; and the Smart Manager app that Samsung designed to make managing battery use and storage on your device easier.
Verizon has also removed Smart Manager and OneDrive… and every other Microsoft app that was preloaded. In other words, if you buy a Galaxy S6 from Verizon, you won’t get OneDrive, Skype, OneNote and Office Mobile preloaded onto the device. Unlike AT&T, Verizon’s Galaxy S6 does come with Download Booster and Simple Share enabled, however.
T-Mobile is limiting your ability to remove S-Finder and Quick Connect from the phone’s drop-down menu. You also can’t disable the capacitive lights on T-Mobile’s Galaxy S6 as you can on AT&T’s version of the device. Other than this, though, it seems T-Mobile has left the device largely intact.
Sprint has removed Download Booster and has disabled Wi-Fi calling as a default setting, although it’s possible to change that easily by enabling it in the settings. Like T-Mobile, Sprint has mostly left the device alone and it does give you access to the Microsoft apps Samsung promoted during its Galaxy S6 launch, including the 100GB of OneDrive data.
I understand that the function you seek is not explicitly listed above, but that list is not all-inclusive either.

  • Missing Samsung Wireless Charging Pad with Purchase of Galaxy S6

    Hi Bestbuy,
I recently ordered the Galaxy S6 on bestbuy.com. I saw a page that said Free Samsung Wireless Charging Pad with Galaxy S6 purchase valid 3/27/15-5/9/15. I noticed it wasn't added to my order. I also called the customer service line and the representative didn't know what I was talking about. Could you guys please help me out.
    Thank you!
    Jason

    Hi JDiep,
I hope that you have had a great weekend thus far.
From the information I have reviewed, we did recently offer a free Samsung Wireless Charger with the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge.  You would need to have added the charger to your online shopping cart during checkout in-order to advantage of the promotional offer.  I looked over the order you placed using the email address you registered with the forum and it does not appear the charger was attached to your order when it was submitted.
With that having been said, I will be sending you a private message so that I can go over your order with you in additional detail to see what I can potentially do to help.  To check your private messages, you will want to login to the forum and click on the little yellow envelope icon located at the top of the page.  I look forward to further speaking with you.
Thank you for posting to the forum and enjoy your new Samsung Galaxy S6!

  • Request for Admin-BBY Sticky Post for new Trade In & Trade Up Samsung Galaxy Tab S $50 Offer Details

Considering some of the problems that people have had in trading in their qualifying working tablets not in Best Buy's trade-in system for a minimum $50 Best Buy Gift Card during the ending Surface 3 promotion... would it be possible for Admin BBY to post a new sticky message for the new promo starting today for trading in any non Nook/ereader tablet without screen/water damage that turns on for a $50 gift card and coupon for $50 off the Samsung Galaxy Tab S? It would be valuable to know if any of the terms of the trade-in have changed, and to head off questions about the inability to use more than one coupon per tablet purchase before you are inundated with complaints..
Thanks in advance! Nothing gets me into a brick and mortar store more assuredly than the promise of a discount off a coveted new piece of technology!

    Hello StellaDallas-
It’s definitely concerning when customers are experiencing disappointments with one of our promotions and I can certainly understand your desire to see something posted on our community to help head off any future issues.
The stores are provided with all the information that they need to process these promotions correctly and hopefully, we have also learned from any past mistakes as well when putting them together.  Right now, you can find all the details of the Samsung Tab 3 trade-in promotion here.  From what I can see, it seems to cover all the details of the promotion very well, including stating that only one coupon can be used per transaction.
Otherwise, as far as I can tell, the promotion is identical to the Surface 3 promotion, with the caveat that the trade-in must be used towards the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy Tab S.
    Thanks for connecting with us!

  • Re: Trade in Promotion for Note 4

I went into my nearest Best Buy store 2 days ago and pre-ordered the Note 4 for Verizon. Quick story, I was checking around the Best Buy site yesterday, browsing, and went to the Note 4 page to read over the promotion again. I noticed something that upset me. The price of the Note 4 for Verizon had increased from $299.99 to 349.((. I was not happy about this, and went into Best Buy to inquire about it. The manager wrote a note on my pre-order sheet that said the $299.99 price would be honored regardless of the price at time of pick-up. I asked him about the promotion while I was there.
This is what I was told IN-STORE by a BB manager:
"As long as you bring in a working smartphone that DOES NOT have water damage, and DOES NOT have a cracked screen, the phone will be eligible for the promotion. The $200 gift card you receive CAN be applied to the total cost of the phone."
Regarding the thing with the dates, as long as you PRE-ORDER before 10/16, you will be eligible for the promotion.
I'm hoping a Best Buy employee can chime in here and confirm all this. I too was worried like you, but if any funny business happens at the time of pick-up, I will definitely not screw around, and will cancel the entire thing before I accept not getting the promotion for any reason. I have asked multiple times now and have been assured that I'll be fine. This promotion is the whole reason I am upgrading through Best Buy and not directly through my carrier, and I hope I don't regret it.

    Hello caseyb,
As someone who just recently got her hands on a smartphone for the first time, I can now appreciate how exciting the whole process can be. Getting a $200.00 gift card would be icing on the cake, so I can understand why you would want concrete answers about our trade-in offer included with pre-ordering a new Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
While we don’t anticipate it, pre-order prices can fluctuate over time given how far in advance we make items available to our customers. However, please know that you are guaranteed the lowest price with your pre-order. This means that if you purchased the phone on sale for $299.99 and the price rose to $349.99 the next week, your order should stay at $299.99. However, if you purchased it at $349.99 and the price drops to $299.99 after ordering, your order should drop down to the $299.99 when it’s ready for pickup. This is in accordance with our pre-order policy found here.
To qualify for this trade-in offer, your current phone must meet the following requirements:
    1)      It must be able to turn on using battery power alone. Phones that require to be plugged into a power source to turn on will not qualify.
    2)      The phone must be free of any cracks to its body or screen
    3)      The phone cannot have liquid damage of any kind.
The dates listed on the promotion are a little tricky though. Like your local store manager stated, as long as you pre-order the Note 4 between 09/19/2014 and 10/16/2014, you should be able to take advantage of the $200.00 gift card we are offering with a trade-in promotion.
Having said this, please know that not all Best Buy locations are able to participate in this promotion. This is because some stores face county laws that require them to have a pawn license to accept trade-ins or have strict laws they must adhere to in terms of when payment for the trade-in may be issued. This is why we offer a store locator (found here) to help find participating locations.
Overall, you shouldn’t have problems with this promotion as long as your store of choice is able to accept trade-ins and your current phone meets the requirements above. If you have any further questions though, please feel free to let me know.
    Best wishes,

  • $100 Trade-In promotion for current customer

I want to make sure I understand this program before I make my decision.
I am a long time Verizon customer almost a year out of plan. I've been waiting for the right smartphone to come along to upgrade my Blackberry Storm. That phone appears to be the Motorola Droid Bionic.
But because my phone is a Balckberry Storm and not a basic phone I can't take advantage of the $100 promotion? It completely boggles my mind that as a loyal dedicated, bill-paying customer of Verizon, I get locked out of a promotion.
This may solidify my decision to leave Verizon for the Samsung Galaxy S II at another carrier.

  • Smartphone Talk Free Promotion

I am currently under a Family Plan, and recently I switched my phone to an HTC Touch from my Samsung i760. I switched back (the Touch doesn't have WIFI) and I noticed a bit of information on the activation page.
" If you make certain changes to your service, your Smartphone Talk Free promotion will be removed. If your plan includes the Smartphone Talk Free Promotion, the following conditions apply:
You must keep the $29.99 Data Package associated with your eligible Smartphone device
You must keep your current plan. If you change Minutes, Text, or Data, the promotion and the $9.99/line/mo.
    Credit will be removed.
An eligible Smartphone must be associated with your plan. If you upgrade or change to a
non-Smartphone device, the promotion and the $9.99/line/mo. credit will be removed."
I am not currently enrolled in a data plan, in fact I have a data block set up. What does this Smartphone Talk Free Promotion mean?

    nelsonsamd wrote:
"The reason why the above message would have appeared was to inform you before making the equipment changes that would affecting the promotion in place. Where you making your equipment change on a shared line? At the time, the Smartphone Talk Free promotion was for a Smartphone being associated on a shared line with an unlimited data plan. If you have not made the change and would like me to check into your account before you make the change, please send me a private message with your information.  I'll check your account making sure the change your wanting to do does not affect your the shared line on your account. "
The only part I don't understand about the above paragraph is the part about the Unlimited Data Plan. Our family plan doesn't include a data plan at all. I was able to switch back to my i760 without changing my plan at all.
From Google, I believe I've found what's up: when I activated my phone, I specifically asked them not to activate it with a data plan and it took them a while. They must have put me on the Smartphone Talk Free promotion, with the loophole that I didn't have to activate the data plan. Then, when I attempt to switch phones (luckily to another outdated smartphone), Verizon notifies me that if I don't switch to another smartphone, I may lose the promotion. To summarize, if I'd activated a Samsung Intensity instead, I would lose the promotion to use a smartphone w/o data.
    Is this summary correct?
    Hi nelsonsamd,
If you do not have an unlimited data plan associated with your shared line then you do not have the $9.99 Smartphone Talk Free promotion. The message you received was simply an automated disclosure based on the fact that you had a Smartphone active on your shared line and you may have had such promotion in place. Please disregard the message.
If you activate a Samsung intensity device you can reactivate your Smartphone later without a data plan as long as it was manufactured before November 13, 2008. All Smartphones manufactured November 14, 2008 or later require a data plan in order to be activated.

  • Samsung S6 Edge Purchase

I saw your offer for the free wireless charger at http://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-4g-with-32gb-memory-cell-phone-black-sapphire-at-...  so I went into the store today to upgrade my phone and take advantage of the offer.  The representative at the store informed me that it was for preorders only.  After I showed them the offer at BestBuy.com they took it to a manager who then informed me again it was for preorders only and that only 25,000 were made for Best Buy and they had 65,000 preorders so they were unable to match BestBuy.com.   Normally I have a great experience at this store, but today it felt almost like it was a bait and swtich sales tactic.  I still ended upgrading my device, but was unhappy with the resolution.  My suggestion would be to update BestBuy.com so customers are informed.

    Hi there nater351,
It's pretty awesome that many of our customers who pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 edge received a free wireless charging pad! I can imagine if you anticipated a free wireless charging pad upon purchasing your Samsung Galaxy S6, that you were greatly disappointed to leave the store without one. I am sorry for any disappointment that this may have caused you.
While I see that the current free wireless charging pad promotion that is valid through 5/9/15 appears to only be valid on BestBuy.com, I sadly need further clarification surrounding the promotion that was valid from 3/27/15 through 4/11/15. Please know that I have reached out to the appropriate business teams for further clarification of this promotion. Once I have more information for you, I will be sure to reach out to you right away. In the meantime, please feel welcome to reach out to me with any questions or other concerns you may have.

  • Tablet Trade In Denied For Not Buying Samsung Tablet at the Same Time

They were going to process my tablet (not in system, so it will be processed as a recycle), but told me to go get the Samsung tablet so they can process everything together. When I said I don't need to buy that tablet now, they insisted that it only works if I buy the tablet. They refused to continue with the trade in even though they were right at the screen that accepts the promo on their computer. Please contact Best Buy store 117 in Cerritos.
Same exact problem as this one: http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Other-Customer-Service-Support/Current-Trade-In-Tablet-Promotion-Proble...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello waitforit,
I would be confused in that situation. Especially, considering it sounds as though this isn’t your first time trading in a product with Best Buy. I am sorry you were unable to trade in your tablet at the Cerritos, CA store due to this confusion.
You may use the $50 coupon toward the purchase of the Samsung Galaxy S tablet, but you are not required to do so at that time, or at all. The coupon should expire on 9/13/2014 if it goes unused. Additionally, you should be able to use the Best Buy gift card ($50 minimum) at any time. The store associate should have known this; although it sounds like there might be some confusion on this process. Your tablet must also meet the rest of the criteria of this promotion to receive those benefits; click here to find the full terms of this offer.
I have already sent an email to the store leadership at the Cerritos, CA location to provide them with the necessary information on how to process this trade-in. I recommend heading back to the store and asking for a manager to assist you in receiving this promotion. Feel free to reach back out if you have any additional questions or concerns on this matter.

  • Samsung Note 4 $200 Promo?

Today i went to my Best Buy to do the Promotion for the note 4, i had a Nokia Lumia to trade in for the $200 towards the Note 4. The worker said i was supposed to bring that when i come to pick up my preorder to get the $200. When i got home i noticed the promotion ends before the phone even comes out so was he wrong or?

    Hello JesseV1,
This promotion for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is very exciting and I'm glad to read that you were able to place your pre-order! However, I apologize for the apparent confusion over how the offer is to work.
AChocolateDoll has been quite right all along: your pre-order was completed in the qualifying time frame and the gift card you were issued was for the sole purpose of securing your pre-order. You'll complete your smart phone trade-in and the $200 gift card will be issued when you visit your local store to pick up your Note 4.
I hope this helps. I'm glad that you wrote to us with your concerns about this offer!
