Samsung Stratsophere - SD Card spontaneously unmounts

Hi...
My phone is only a couple of months old.  I've had some minor issues (like the Auto Synch won't stay enabled) but for the most part, it's been fine - until today.
The phone was nowhere near me and it suddenly alerted me that the SD card had been removed but not unmounted.  I have never even taken the back off the phone, let alone pulled the SD card.  When I checked it said that no card was detected.  I shut it off, waited a while and turned it back on.  It took a few minutes but eventually the SD card was recognized and all was well.  Until about 2 hours later, when I got the same message again.  I did the same thing - shut it all the way off, waited a while and then turned it back on.
Has anyone else had this problem?  If so, how did you prevent it from happening again?
Thanks!

I cannot even get the SD card to mount at all. I insert the card and it
feels me that it is preparing the card, and then it says that the card is
black or has an unsupported file system. It offers me the option of
formatting the card at that point, but when I do it goes back to telling me
that the card is blank. So I cannot use the card in any capacity.

  • Accidentally removed SD card without unmounting...all pictures seem to be gone.  HELP???

Tonight I received a notification on my LG Ally that my SD card was unmounted (though I had done nothing but pick up the phone). I opened the SD card flap and tried to push the card in to make sure that it was connected...but didn't realize that pushing it in actually pops it out. So, I inadvertently ejected the SD card without unmounting it. When I put it back in, I realized that ALL of my pictures are GONE. Is there anything I can do to get them back, or do I just get to chalk this one up to my own stupidity?

I am having a similar issue in that my LG Ally keeps randomly beeping and stating that my SD card has been removed without being unmounted. It of course is still in the phone mounted. I have removed it and reset it and it was fine for an hour or two and then it stated it was removed without un mounting again. This has been happening repeatedly. it has happened before, but just randomly, and now it is happening more frequently. I am also missing photos(in my gallery), while in this state, although some of the photos that are stored on the SD card are contact photos which are still present. My concern is not my photos however, i'm more concerned about why this is happening not what is happening.

  • How do I resolve spontaneously unmounting external USB hard drives?

I've seen a few other posts on similar topics, but seem to fit my experience. I have two 2 TB Seagate hard drives I bought for Time Machine backups, Atlantis and Phoenix. I've had the drives for probably six months, and they worked fine for much of that. Both still have lots of free space. However, in the past two months or so they have started spontaneously unmounting, usually a week or two after being remounted. The frequency seems to be increasing. I've upgraded to Mavericks, but this does not seem to have made any difference for the better or worse. One other change since getting the drives is that I have added a UPS to keep the drives and host Mac mini up for a few minutes in case of a power outage. I haven't seen evidence that the unmountings are the result of power outages. I did find this in the system logs at the time of the most recent Atlantis unmounting, but don't know what to make of it:

They did again last night, the soonest they've ever unmounted after being restarted. After further investigation in the Console app I found the entries below.

Looks like hardware failure to me, but it's hard to believe both drives would be failing at once. They are both connected to the same USB hub, so I guess I'll try replacing that first.

  • 10.6.3 - Apparent spontaneous unmount of network volumes

Since updating my server to 10.6.3 I am experiencing spontaneous unmounts of AFP volumes from clients running both 10.6.2 and 10.6.3. In both cases the Console on the client systems reports the following messages:
02/04/2010 3:07:53 am kernel AFP_VFS afpfsCacheLookup: got 2 on root vnode, unmounting vol
    02/04/2010 3:07:53 am kernel AFP_VFS afpfs_unmount: /Volumes/XXX, flags 524288, pid 626
(Obviously the PID on the second system is different.)
In both cases there was a Time Machine backup happening during this occurrence which commenced prior to the unmount, but there had been many previous backups which did not trigger an unmount so I am unsure whether this is significant or not.
The only other clue is that on the 10.6.3 client (but not the 10.6.2 client) the following two lines appear in the console immediately prior to the unmount event:
    02/04/2010 3:07:53 am KernelEventAgent[40] tid 00000000 type 'afpfs', mounted on '/Volumes/XXX', from 'afp_000000004oMw0oYHtK3gzaWf-2.2e000004', dead

This is definitely becoming an issue for me which I desperately need to resolve.
One other symptom I am experiencing is that both clients seem to repeatedly "lose" their mail POP3 passwords and these need to be re-entered to retrieve mail. I suspect what's actually happening is that authentication is incorrectly failing on the server, triggering the request to re-enter the password, and I wonder whether this is a factor in the AFP unmounts. What's significant here is that this is happening on both the 10.6.2 and 10.6.3 clients; the only common factor is that the server has been updated to 10.6.3.

Latest situation is that the problem is still ocurring regularly. I have tried repairing permissions on the server but this has not changed anything. It is very clear to me that this is some sort of interaction between Time Macine and mounted volumes. Two clients have both just unmounted their network volumes in exactly the same way - the Time Capsule volume has been mounted and then immediately the network volumes are unmounted. Here is a transcript from one of them:

One other thing that I have noticed recently (and seen on other systems) is that systems on the network seem to regularly get new names assigned to them with -1 or -2 appended. I don't know if this is connected to the problem or not, but it certainly could be part of the same syndrome. I get the impression that there's something going on somewhere in the code that handles network resources, maybe within Bonjour?
One thing that I find highly frustrating is that even if you remount the network volume many apps (such as the MS Office 2008 and Adobe CS4 apps) crash and burn if they have a file open from it, and often in a somewhat untidy way - eg Word displays a dialog saying that the file may be corrupt with an OK button but if you press this the dialog disappears and reappears again straight away. there is no way to get out of this except by force-quitting, even though the app is actually running fine apart from being in an apparent deadlock.

  • HTC Rhyme SD Card Unmounted

I have been having issues with my SD card being unmounted since my software update over the weekend. I have tried shutting down running applications on my phone, I have tried mounting and unmounting, I have restarted my phone, taken the sd card out, pretty much anything I could think of except reset my phone (I dont want to lose all of my information). What can I do to fix this problem? Is there a way to uninstall an update? The update is what seems to have created the problem.
    Help please!

I see your cry for help, vplatz!
You have done quite a bit to troubleshoot already. Thanks for that.  I don't want you to lose any information on that card.
Have you tried to transfer the files to your computer to make sure they are backed up?
I ask this because the last thing we want to do is format that SD card, but it will delete all info from the card.
That's why I want you to save everything to the computer first by following these steps http://vz.to/100mykP.
http://vz.to/15ezt7p shows how to format the card in case you need help. Once you format the card & transfer the files back, place it back in the device and test it again. Please let me know how that works.

  • Acer E700 SD card problem

Hi *allMy E700 unmount and mount the SD card without any reason.Tried the following:- other SD card- chkdsk /fDidn't help. Then i found this post (in German)http://www.android-hilfe.de/acer-liquid-e700-forum/623030-sd-karte-fehlermeldung-auswurf-ohne-einfluss-4.htmlI see that many users have the same problem. Found also a post in this forum. When will this bug be fixed ACER ?? RegardsMarc

I've got this problem too. Specifically occurs with 32Gb cards. The first card I had back in March / April was a Sandisk 32Gb card in my new E700. Worked fine for a few days then started to spontanously unmount itself a few times a day. Eventually became corrupted and unreadable even in a Windows 7 PC where I tried to error check and reformat without success. I put the problem down to a faulty card, had a spare 16Gb card and used that for the past few months without any problems. Ran out of space so bought a new 32Gb card from a German manufacturer called Hama with a 10 year guarantee. Inserted it a few days ago and today the same problems began to occur all over again. Two 32Gb cards, both new from reputable manufacturers - come on Acer, the issue is unlikely the cards, more likely something in your hardware, or a driver issue similar to Samsung where the phone goes on standby and can in some cases corrupts the cards? Whatever the issue, can one of your reps here please confirm there is a problem and what to do about it exactly. Thank you.

  • I just got an iphone today and switched from a galaxy samsung and am trying to get my contacts?

Trying to get my contacts from my samsung stratsophere to my new iphone 4s

Where were your contacts stored? On the SIM? Or in a Google account? Or what?
If the former, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Import SIM Contacts, if your previous phone uses the same size SIM card (Micro SIM) as your iPhone, and you have put it in your iPhone.
If the latter, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account, put in your credentials, and make sure Contacts is ON.

  • Why does my MacBook spontaneously crash/restart?

My MacBook is suddenly restarting for no apparent reason.  What follows is a detailed description of the issue and surrounding circumstances, various elements of which may or may not be relevant.
Several months ago I noticed my trackpad button had stopped clicking reliably.  About two months ago I realized that the replacement laptop battery I was using (purchased on Amazon as genuine Apple product, but probably not really made by Apple) had begun to swell just enough to press up from the underside of the trackpad and prevent it from functioning properly.  I removed the battery and have been using the machine with AC power so that the trackpad will work right.  I intend to replace the battery with a new one directly from Apple, but given the cost I would like to make sure I can resolve my other issues first.  I have included the above because it was roughly around the time I began using my MacBook without a battery that the symptoms below began.  Using the computer without a battery may or may not be related these issues, but it is the only thing I can think of that changed anywhere near when the problems began.
Around this time, the backlight on the built-in display began to regularly (1-5 times per hour of use) shut itself off.  The LCD stays on and can still be seen faintly in ambient light, but the backlight turns itself off as if I had turned the brightness all the way down using the F1 key.  The brightness control itself seems to stay up, however, as the temporary fix I was able to find by researching the issue online is to turn the brightness all the way down (using the F1 key) and then back up again (using F2) and display brightness rises with my pressing the F2 display-brighter button.  This would last anywhere from 1-1000 minutes (approximate) of use before shutting off (backlight) again and I would have to do the same thing.  The length of time until the next shutoff seems to be shorter the brighter I have the display brightness set, but the symptom comes and goes in fits and spurts.  Sometimes I can't keep it on more than 15 seconds and I just give up and drag whatever windows I'm working on to my external monitor (which functions fine throughout - I use the external and built-in displays side-by-side with a mini-DVI to DVI adapter), but other times it will go for a week just fine.  This may or may not be related to my more serious issue below, but it began just in advance of the below and has continued to the present.
About the same time I stopped using the battery and started experiencing display backlight shutoffs, my computer began spontaneously crashing and restarting itself.   The first time it happened I was attempting to play a video (MP4 I think) from the hard drive in QuickTime Player.  The video played for a few minutes, and then my computer crashed and began to restart itself.  I let it restart and tried playing the video several more times, even using VLC instead of QuickTime as the player, but each time the computer would play a few seconds to a few minutes before dying and restarting.  In the hours and days that followed, the machine would randomly restart every 1-100 (approximately) minutes of use.  The shutdowns seemed more likely to occur when attempting to play video of any format, local or online, and for a while I couldn't even play a YouTube vid without the computer shutting down.  Sometimes the machine would restart to my login screen, but then if I logged in right away it would begin the login process but then die and restart again.  If I waited a while before logging in it seemed to "calm down" and would login successfully.  The restarts were more likely during video playback, but not exclusive to this task.
I noticed that the restarts seemed to especially come in "clumps," and that allowing the machine a rest seemed to help.  I also noticed that the fan frequently (but not always) sounded like it was running at full power at the time of restart.  I concluded that the restarts were likely the result of overheating.  I disassembled the machine in order to clean out the fan and heat sink.  I didn't find much lint / blockage, but I thoroughly cleaned out what was there and did a cursory look around the internals for anything that might appear to be out of order, but I didn't find anything remarkable.  The restarts continued, together with high fan speeds just before, so I downloaded iStat Pro to monitor internal temperatures in my status bar.  I watched temps pretty closely, especially when I heard the fan, but the highest I ever saw was 80 degrees celsius on the CPU die.  I don't know a lot about CPU temperature ranges, but from some cursory research it looks like that is way below the cutoff for an automatic shutdown (and besides, it seems like it should shutdown rather than restart for overheating).  I watched to see if the restarts happened at the same temperature every time, but they varied widely, sometimes even occurring below 65 C, with or without high fan noise.
The issue persisted and was becoming a real problem for me, and I already had a HDD I was planning to upgrade to, so I decided to do the HDD swap and follow with a clean install of OSX (via download from Apple) rather than migrate from my old drive because I figured that would take care of any software issues.  After I swapped out the HDD and did a clean install it was three days or so until the display backlight cut out as before, and about a week before the first sudden restart, which brings us to the present.  Since that first restart, I've seen another 6 or so in the last 4 hours.  I have also noticed an occasional failure to get past the grey screen on an intentional shutdown (not the sudden restarts) since replacing the HDD and reinstalling OSX, but that only happens on occasion.  The only things I have installed since replacing the HDD other than the OS are MS Office for Mac 2011 (from CD) and then Flash and Silverlight plug-ins for Safari.  I've also transferred over some files from my old HDD using a USB caddy and have opened some documents, but I haven't run any applications or installers besides the aforementioned.  I haven't been able to transfer everything from the old HDD though, because the old drive (in a USB caddy) drive seems to spontaneously unmount, giving me the "the disk was not ejected properly" message and causing Finder to freeze up with a spinwheel of death and not recover after relaunching finder in the Force Quit dialog.  This seems to lead to the manual shutdown stalling on the grey screen as well (when means I have to use the button to force full shutdown).  This could just be a problem with my caddy though.
Here is what I have tried, in total:
    - Restarted the machine
    - Disassembled laptop and cleaned out the fan / heat sink
    - Watched temperatures (no apparent correlation)
    - Replaced HDD and reinstalled OSX from scratch (by download from Apple)
    - Ran Apple Hardware Test (no problems found)
    - Software Update ("your software is up to date")
    - Checked for System Diagnostic Reports in Console following spontaneous restarts, found none present
    - Reset NVRAM / PRAM
    - Reset SMC
Those last two resets I did just prior to posting and so far I haven't seen the crash/restart, although I have seen the dead backlight.  It hasn't been long though so we'll see. . .

One final note - when the system spontaneously restarts, it doesn't properly shutdown as it would if I initiated a restart, it just suddenly dies, black screen, and then I hear the startup tone and it begins to restart.
Obviously this is an older machine and I've gotten a lot of good use out of it, but I still need it and don't have the budget right now to replace it so any help you can offer would be much appreciated.  I'm pretty much stymied.
Please let me know if anything is missing / unclear!

  • G5 Spontaneously Un-mounting Hard Drives

I have a number of hard drives connected to my G5 powermac. Spontaneously and for no obvious reason the G5 will put up a red Device Removal warning and the drive will disappear from the desktop.
This used to happen to the second drive that was mounted inside the G5 once every day or two, but the disc remounted if I re-started the computer - irritating but manageable.
After a disastrous upgrade to 10.5.6 and an archive and install and 10.5.4 bundle download I now find that the internal drives are stable but the external drives - I have a box of six connected to the G5 on firewire 800 will spontaneously unmount. This happened yesterday and several re-starts failed to get them to re-mount.
Staring up this morning the drives all mounted fine, but just now the FW 800 drives have all unmounted.
What can be the cause and how do I fix it?
    Any suggestions gratefully received,
    Mike

  • HTC one (m8) sd card issue

i have a 64gb sc card that i got just for my htc one (m8). card worked great and now all the sudden after i took pictures of my daughter getting married it now says the card is unmounted and unreadable. the card never got took out of the phone. what can i do to get the pictures back? any ideas.

This is what I'd suggest as well if you have not Formatted the card pull the card install it in a Reader and pull your pictures off onto your computer then once that is completed reinstall your card into your phone Format it see if will then allow your to take pictures and store,  if it won't then the card has went bad..
Just for the asking what kind of Card is it.?  Sandisk, or Another..  The card should have Limited lifetime Warranty you might call the Manufacture see if they'll replace it for you..
    Hope that Helps b33

  • Sample of how to write data to NI 9802 SD Card C-Module

I have basic knowledge of LabVIEW but now I want to go into Real-Time and FPGA. I want to learn how to write a data read from an analog input to a SD card using NI 9802.  For the purpose of learning data rate does not matter, as long as I can write something to the memory card.  I read some documents online but I have not found an example so I can understand how to do it.  I will much appreciate if there is any help.
    My settings:
    - cRIO 9073
    - Slot 0: NI 9229 (reading only AIO)
    - Sot  1: NI 9802 (Memory card is inserted to slot 0) - must be used in FPGA mode only.

    Hi,
To getstarted with, you can first attempt to mount and unmount the NI 9802 using the invoke methods "Mount SD Card" and "Unmount SD Card" in the RT vi. For this you only need to open an FPGA reference to the FPGA vi. After Mounting, you can obtain the drive letter and use it to create the file and write data.
    Best Regards,

  • Problem Loading Application to Card

I just purchased a Samsung S3CC9P9 smart card and I have problem loading applications onto the card.
    Here is the problem:
On first usage, after successful mutual authentication, the card allows me to load the first application I try loading but after this it refuses to load any other application and responding with the error message 0x6424. I purchased 5 cards and 2 of them are already in this state.
Is there something I am missing-out? Is there somthing I ought to have done?
If I try the same process with my JCOP 31 card I purchased earlier everything works fine.
I am using JCOP tools and here is the APDU trace:

  • HELP! Firewire Drives Unmounting by themselves.

I have a small workgroup with a G4/800 server with two FireWire drives connected. One of the drives contains ALL of the organizations files and is shared over the network using the SharePoints software. The other Firewire drive is just a backup drive which is used by Retrospect. What is happening is the users will frequently find the firewire shares mounted over the network on their machines will disconnect and users will receive an alert telling them that the network volume is no longer available or something. When we go to the server we find the Firewire drives are no longer mounted on the desktop. Otherwise, the machine is running normally. Trying to remount the drives usually does not work and I have found that the only surefire way to get them back is to turn the drives off, restart the machine, then turn the drives on. After that, they will mount fine and once again become available to the clients' machines.
I am at a loss as to what would be causing these volumes to unmount or eject themselves. Can anyone help me to troubleshoot this?

External hard drive spontaneously unmounted? Try these tips:
NEW FIRMWARE: Try updating your external hard drive's firmware, which is available from your drive manufacturers Web site--or just use VersionTracker's (www.versiontracker.com) search function to find it. Be sure to back up your data before applying the update, and carefully follow the manufacturers instructions.
OUT OF iSIGHT: If you're using an iSight camera while you're using a FireWire drive, the camera may be interfering with the drive's ability to stay mounted. Try temporarily disconnecting your iSight and moving it to a separate FireWire port. If you have multiple FireWire devices, try using a FireWire hub.
POWER PROBLEM: A faulty power adapter could be causing your drive to unmount. Your drive may not be getting enough juice to stay on, causing the drive to turn off and thereby unmounting it from your Mac. Alternately, the power adapter may not be providing a steady amount of power, causing your drive to turn on and off. Try replacing the adapter. If you can't get a replacement adapter from the hard drive manufacturer, try your local electronics store. Just make sure the adapter you choose has the same connector and input/output voltage. you can find the input/output voltage on the adapter itself.
    Cheers! DALE

  • Built in Micro SD card reader suddenly disappeared (miix 2 11 3G, win8.1 64bit)

    Lenovo Miix 2 11 256GB 3G windows 8.1 64 bit.
After 1.5 months I just registered today that my 32GB micro SD card doesnt show in Windows 8.1. Card is readeable fine with generic USB multi card reader. I have also tried 16GB Samsung Micro SD card and same.
No sound when inserting micro SD card, no reaction whatsoever.
Reinstalled with supplied Genesys USB Mass Storage Device (4.3.0.7)
Reinstalled with newest drivers from lenovo website (same version though)
    Tried this workaround
    http://kingoftweaks.blogspot.de/2014/03/sluggish-sd-slot-and-fix-for-miix-2-8.html
Any idea what else to do? My next step is backup of the entire disk and do recovery to see if tis hardware or software related.

Updating the BIOS fixed this for me.

  • Toshiba 16gb micro SDHC card problem, please need help!

    Hello,
I didnt know where to post about this problem, so I just post it here. I bought few months ago Toshiba 16gb micro SD HC card for my android Huawei Acend G300 it worked fine for two months, in computer and in my phone, but yesteday after I listened music my android made restart by itself. I tought it was nothing so I went to sleep. But in the morning I saw that my mobile says that I have no sd card insterted into phone. I made restart to my phone, took battery out and took sd card off and put those back in, but still didnt find my sd card. Then I put my sd card into computer with micro sd card adapter but it cant find my sd card too. it doesnt reconize it. Please does anyone can help me with that? I had important stuff on that card,
    Thank You For Reading
PS! Sorry for my english I hope you understood what I was saying.

    Greetings,
I realize it's been quite awhile since your post but, did you ever get a response on how to correct the issue with your 16GB MicroSD HC card that 'died' suddenly?  I ask because I had a similar issue. My card suddenly unmounted itself (it was in a Galaxy S3) then it just was 'gone'.  Phone doesn't see it, pc doesn't see it...
From what I was able to determine it would appear that this card is history and unrepairable but was curious if you ever had any luck in either recovering data and/or getting the card to be useable again.
    thanks,
    nataswon
