Samsung Syncmaster 2233rz, help getting 120hz

So I have this monitor mentioned in the title of this post, it's a 3D monitor and is suppose to display at 120hz natively. It's native resolution is 1680x1050@120hz, I have no problem setting it's native resolution in 'nvidia-settings' (I have NVGF560GTX). The problem is I can only set 60hz on other resolutions, e.g.(640x480,800x600,1024x768) etc.etc.....
Before someone tries to tell me or find out if 120hz is supported on those resolutions, IT IS so we can just drop that thought right away.
I need 120hz on those lower resolutions for games, e.g. 120hz on quake live@640x480.
Thanks.

It's pretty depressing that I have to dual boot because of this problem... Can anyone point me into the right direction at least ?

Well my friend, after 3 1/2 agonizing hours at he apple store, those "genious" declare that iMac came with defective thunderbolt/dvi to extra monitor , not mine, ALL OF THE NEW iMACS!!!!, shame on apple man, i had to spend 300 extra dls buying a new monitor with hdmi input to solve this crap that apple just did, is not fear coming out with a new product that can handle something so simple. i wish i could report this issue to someone that hears it and make something about it since i do not think this is a minor issue since this new iMac main feature was the thunderbolt port

  • Cannot get my Samsung SyncMaster S27B370 to connect to my Mid 2011 iMac 27

Cannot get my Samsung SyncMaster S27B370 to connect to my Mid 2011 iMac 27 inch with HDMI to thunderbolt port adapter but works like a charm in Windows 7 when I bootcamp over to it. Any ideas? The cable is working properly as shown by the fact that Windows 7 uses both monitors perfectly. I am using Mac OS X Mountain Lion and have already done the option + cmd + p + r boot reset to no avail. It does not find the second monitor at all as in it doesn't even show up in the display preference pane.

    Arguably, they're both right.
Changing your router changes everything, so your best course of action is to research the respective printer's documentation and determine how to reset them to factory default condition. Then, add them again using System Preferences > Print & Scan.
For that, I recommend you first "reset the printing system" according to these instructions: Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system. Its instructions for Lion are identical to those for Mountain Lion.
As the article states, it will remove all your existing printers, leaving the Mac's printing system in a similar "factory default" condition ready for you to create a new print queue for each printer, which you should probably do.
Apple's printing support documents contain a great deal of redundancy, but this one may be a good place to start: OS X Mountain Lion: Set up a printer to print wirelessly

  • Problem: Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter with Samsung Syncmaster 2033HD

    Hi,
I am using the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter to connect to a Samsung Syncmaster 2033HD
However, I get No Signal with DVI as the Source.
It works when plugged into the DVI slot of the Mac Pro.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Chad

DisplayPort and its variant Mini DisplayPort, use a new and different protocol for communicating with your display.
A properly-functioning adapter can request the DisplayPort use "Dual-Mode", which produces a good approximation of single-Link DVI/HDMI. This is good for resolutions up to 1920 wide, which would include your Samsung (1600 by 900).
Wider displays require a more expensive "active" "powered" converter, to convert DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI.
So if the display works with a straight DVI connection, but not a DisplayPort adaptation to "Dual Mode" DVI the weak link appears to be the adapter, but you cannot quite rule out the display card.

  • MacMini mid-2011/ Yosemite w Samsung Syncmaster monitor

    Hello all.
I have been happily working with my MacMini mid-2011 (2.3Ghz Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM) with a Samsung Syncmaster B2440 HDMI-connected to it for a long time.
Since the upgrade to Mavericks and later to Yosemite, the following problem occurs: when switching the monitor off, and later switching it back on, no video signal is sent to the monitor, which remains blank and tries to switch through all its different inputs. Unplugging the hdmi cable and plugging it back in also gives no joy. It looks like the whole video output services are switch off at OS level or something.
The only thing I can do to get the monitor on, oddly enough, is to connect to the mac mini through a remote desktop from another device, and switching the display to my AppleTV. This action does switch also the Samsung monitor back on.
So I then thought, great, I will create myself an apple script and a workflow associated to this AirPlay monitor switch and associate it to a keyboard shortcut, but this does not appear to work either (no, the shortcut is not in conflict with any other global shortcut).
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Samsung SyncMaster 204b goes on and off

I have a 20" Samsung SyncMaster 204b flat panel that I purchased not two weeks ago. I have it connected to my PowerMac G5 dual 1.8Ghz through the digital connection on the graphics adapter.
Every now and then it just goes black and then comes back on. It's off for about a second, maybe two, before coming back on. Sometimes it happens when I'm switching pages using Safari. From what I can tell it usually happens when I'm doing something. In other words, when I'm not actively using the computer it doesn't ever seem to turn off/on.
Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Tom

I've got the same Samsung display as you, but I'm running it on a brand new $599 Mac Mini Core Duo bumped up to a gig of RAM. The computer just arrived yesterday and I've got the exact problem you describe. Unfortunately both the Mac and the Samsung are brand new so it's impossible to isolate the problem (I lack a second desktop or display), but I'm willing to bet the Mac is to blame.
The infuriating thing about the problem is that 98 percent of the time the computer and display work great. There's no predicting when the problem will strike. I've tightened my DVI cord connections so I know that's not the issue.
My problem actually seems worse than yours, since the problem often comes in waves with the monitor repeatedly switching off and on for a second or two at a time -- and then finally often blanking out entirely. Once the problem begins, I'm usually hosed --- the shutoffs get more frequent and ultimately keep coming every few seconds and then they start lasting for increasing periods until the display doesn't come back on.
Interestingly, on two occasions already, I've sat back and watched a 40 minute TV show on DVD without incident, but the moment I head back into the finder the problem begins.
The good news is I've found a fix...a fix for my problem anyway, which I think is just a severe version of what you're experiencing. On two occasions when the monitor wouldn't come back on, I hit the power button to put the Mac to sleep. After waiting just a second or two I hit the power button again to awaken the Mac, and the monitor again functioned perfectly. A few seconds asleep was all it took. You'd think there had never been a problem.
I've been doing some reading on these forums and elsewhere and this post seems of interest:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=634474
It describes a "dancing pixels" phenomenon that neither you nor I have experienced (if you search for "dancing pixels" you'll find plenty of posts). BSteely's response to the above post suggests a possible culprit...the possibility that our blank screens are the culmination of our monitors going out of phase with the computer's timing. Some people have said that lowering the hertz setting for your monitor through DisplayConfigX or SwitchRes X can solve the dancing pixel problem, so perhaps that can solve our problems too. But I'm unwilling to do this for now, since I don't want to degrade my screen's otherwise amazing display quality.
Right now I'm in the awful position of having a brand new computer and display with an intermittent problem that I don't know how to resolve. But discovering that it can be temporarily corrected by putting the system to sleep is at least a help.

  • Samsung Syncmaster 2033

Trying to get my Samsung syncmaster 2033 2nd screen to see the iMac screens correctly.  Does anyone know what resolution I have to have on the Samsung so the Imac screen which is open in the imac pc - upon being dragged to Samsung screen - automatically configures the dimensions of any screen to samsung screen resolutions? I need the 2nd screen to be accurate as I will be utilizing both at the same time.....used to be able to do this on a windows based laptop to samsung.....thx for help.

none of my other programs work w/this apple.
Well, Windows programs won't work directly on a Mac, because Macs run Mac OS X. But you can run a Windows virtual machine with a Mac OS X "virtualization" application like VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop.  Then, Windows is running (separately) under Mac OS X, through the virtualization application.
For the interface, you can run Windows inside its own window.  That one window (on the Mac desktop) is essentially the Windows PC screen.  You can make that window go "full screen," so that the entire screen looks like a Windows PC screen.  And you can also have the virtualization application make it seem like the Windows application is running "alongside" Mac OS X applications.  But those Windows programs are still running separately, in the Windows virtual machine.  Mac OS X is not running them directly.
Because Windows is running under Mac OS X, the iMac's graphics hardware is not being accessed directly by Windows.  For Windows apps that need direct access to the graphics hardware, such as action games, that can be a problem.
If you need full Windows performance on the iMac, you need to (re)boot directly into Windows.  You can do that using the built-in BootCamp feature.  You basically set up a separate partition and install Windows there.  Then, you boot directly into Windows, like the iMac was a Windows PC.  When you do this, Mac OS X is not running at all, so you need to (re)boot back into Mac OS X to run Mac apps.  That sort of defeats the purpose of buying a Mac, so if you can do it with virtualization, it would be more convenient.  Over time, you should be able to transition to using Mac apps for all or most of the things you need to do.

  • Samsung SyncMaster 931BW 19" has a weird resolution?

    Hello everyone!
I am using my MacBook for some years now. I never had ay problems with it, it has always worked properly. Recently, my mother gave me an old screen she did not need anymore, the Samsung SyncMaster 931BW 19''. I have some problems with it. The resolution is very very weird. When I connect the screen I get a popup that sais:
    Not Optimum Mode
    Recommended Mode :
    1440x900     60Hz
I know this is a 16:9 configuration. The only configurations I can get are 1600x1200, 1400x1050, 1344x1008, 1280x960, 1024x768 and 800x600. As far as I know this are all 4:3 configurations. That is not what I want. The screen kind of scales it to the screens resolution but it looks so weird.
When I make a screenshot of it I get, again scaled, a 4:3 ugly pixelized PNG file. I do not like this.
Besides the resolution problem I also get a weird color. I cannot set it to the right white point and also not the right GAMMA mode. Which makes it almost impossible to see anything on the screen. I tried in the screens options menu to reset the color and the image but that did not change anything. I tried to calibrate it in System Preferences but that only made it worse.
Please help me with this. It really bugs me.
    Specs:
    MacBook Pro 13'' Early 2011
    Samsung SyncMaster 931BW

Also, when I click on the Apple logo in the top-right of the screen, I go to "About this Mac", then go to the tab Displays, it shows me two displays:
    Built-in Display
    13,3-inch (1280 x 800)
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
    Display
    13,9-inch (800 x 600)
Inte; HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
The first is the display of the mac and the second is the Samsung monitor which actually is 19'' with a resolution of 1440x900! I think my MacBook doesn't quite understand me.

  • Samsung Syncmaster 773s

I am going to buy a mac mini and simply wish to know if the monitor Samsung Syncmaster 773s will be compatible with it.

    Hello,
In all my years of using Macintosh computers, I have never found a PC monitor that would not work with them. In all honesty, even counting my old pre-G3 systems, I have only ever owned one Apple branded Mac Monitor.
I have always used PC-type VGA monitors (with the appropriate adapter cable) with my Macs.
And, I am doing just that with my current Mac Mini. I'm using the ultimate in cheap monitors with my current Mac Mini. It's the cheapest LCD panel that was available a couple of years ago, and it works just fine with my Mini.
So, from my experience, incompatible monitors are very rare.
But, if you want to insure that your monitor will work fine before you purchase the computer, then you might consider taking your monitor to the local dealer and request them to let you connect it to a display model. That should put your mind at ease, and they will likely not have any trouble permitting this. They should be quite willing if it means getting a sale.
    I hope this helps.

I recently bought a Samsung Syncmaster BW 205 (widescreen) to work on my Powerbook G4. Problem is I can not get it right (my apple screen is 1280x840 and the Samsung is 1650x1080 (or something like that). The Powerbook recognizes the Syncmaster but somehow it does not match. How do I solve this problem?
    Powerbook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Possibly your PowerBook is running in mirror mode. This means both screens will be set to 1280 x 854. Try turning mirror mode off in Display Preferences and see if that helps.

  • 3rd Party Display Resolution Issue - Mid 2011 iMac 27inch Mavericks- iMac wont allow max resolution of Samsung SyncMaster SA850

    Hi Guys,
I just updated my 27 inch iMac to Mavericks and can't get my third party 27inch Samsung screen to run at maximum resolution. Even when using the "Alt" Click and select Scale shortcut I cant display the 2560 x 1440 resolution the screen is capable of.
I've called apple support and they couldn't rectify the issue nor could samsung. I've even tried the monitor in another iMac updated to mavericks and have the same issue.
Im connecting using a mini display port to DVI cable through my thunderbolt port.
My machine is Mid 2011 27inch iMac 3.1ghz core i5 with AMD Radeon HD graphics card upgraded to Mavericks
Monitor is brand new 27 Samsung SyncMaster SA850. I was able to get it to work at max resolution on a Windows 7 PC.
Any help would be appreciated. Thinking of returning the screen, hopefully Samsung will take it back.

The standard > Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter only supports 24" monitor resolutions up to 1920 x 1200.
For a larger monitor you need either a > Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
or perhaps a simple Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable if your monitor supports DisplayPort input.

hi i got msi geforcefx 5600 [128mb] vtdr version ... anyway i also bought samsung syncmaster 173v LCD monitor ... but the strange thing is there are more contrasts on the sides of the LCD then the middle ... it is like that all non-windows and games ... i dont understand why and LCD cant adjust this ... for example if i change the desktop to plain color black ... i can see the difference between the middle and sides easily ... all the system is well setup so it is either the agp card or the LCD ... i went to the store and they give me the chance to test a new LCD (same one) with my PC and it turns out to be the same ... i contact to the samsung on their website (which they didnt respond) ... is there a firmware update or something like this ... pls help me ... it is the first time i am using a LCD and i guess it was not such a good idea to give up CRT :( ... btw my system is
    pentium 4 - 3ghz (HT)
    msi geforcefx 5600
    asus pc4800 mobo
and the rest is not related with the problem i guess ... let me know any missing info about the situation ... regards to all

I recommend you get on samsung.com and look for chat.  I just finished spending about a hour with them about another model and covered a series on difficulties.  I was surprised to find out on their website that my Samsung LCD TV was not covered by any warrantee!  (It really is tho - but the site says "No".)   Just one of many surprises that they are still working on.  The other big deal is figuring out the software upgrade function.  Good luck!

  • MSI G31M3 and Samsung SyncMaster 943NWX resolution problem

hi.today i bought a new computer.i.e assembled.i have a MSI G31M3 motherborad and Samsung SyncMaster 943NWX 19" inch monitor. The box in Samsung SyncMaster 943NWX 19" inch monitor says that it has 1440*900 high resolution.I also know that it must have that much max resolution, thats why i bought this monitor. But the problem is that in desktop->setting.There is not any 1440*900 resolution to select.
First there was resolutions from 800*600 to 2080*XXXi forgot. But there wasn't any 1440*900 resolution to select. Not even in the range of 1440.There was only one 1400 range. Then i installed the driver came with the monitor and now the settings shows only resolution upto 1280*768.
So can anyone tell me whats going on?I search the net for this problem but has no luck.one guy was says to use Powerstrip tool but i have no luck.Though the powerstrip tools shows that my monitor has 1440*900 max resolution in its info section but the resolution doesn't show up in resoultion select range. So i guess my monitor is correct.
My question is that is it due to internal graphics that does support this resolution or something else. Please help me to solve this issue.

thankx a lot "NovJoe".I installed the intel.inf driver provided in the motherboard.I also installed the graphics accelerator/driver came in the CD and also driver downloaded from the intel site. Both look same driver. But no luck. And what do u mean by "intel 945G onboard graphics driver"?I guess  i have intel g31/33 graphic accelerator.do i need to install intel 945G onboard graphics driver as well? • Mini Display Port to VGA cable can't detect Samsung SyncMaster 2693HM.

Just conected a Samsung SyncMaster 2693 to my Mac Mini (2.5 CPU mid 2011) with an Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adaptor it only sees the monitor as a VGA display and is limited to 1920x1081. I was using the same adaptor with an older Mac Mini (mid 2009) and had no problems getting the full 1920x1200 resolution. I've resarted and reinserted the cables, with no joy. Any ideas?

Looking into my problem more deeply it seems that the adaptor is a fault
As stated by BSteely @ this thread https://discussions.apple.com/message/9447077#9447077 it seems that the 1600 x 1200 @ 85Hz is most likely beyond the capabilities of the DAC onboard the adaptor.
Apple does make reference to this slightly in this FAQ http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3382 stating "The resolution available with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter is 1920 x 1200. VGA displays that use higher refresh rates (such as 85 Hz) at resolutions of 1600 x 1200 or greater may not generate video properly until you lower the refresh rate."
Begin Rant: "May" As far as my understanding goes the chip inside this adaptor is either designed and the firmware is progamed to support 1600 x 1200 at 85 Hz or it is not. No "May" about it.
The solution is as simple a providing a list of resolutions and refresh rates supported by the adaptor in some sort of "Technical Specifications" not simply the description provided by the overview in the apple store which makes no mention of any limitation other that the requirement of a display port.
