Samsung T260HD ?

Anyone have one of these Samsung 26 inch HDTV/monitors? I'm thinking about getting one to use with my new Mini. Appreciate any comments or feedback.

I am actually having the same problem with a T240HD. I have a MacBookPro4,1 , GeForce 8600M GT
I plug in the dvi and the monitor stops displaying no signal, but no monitor is detected by the laptop.

  • Windows 7 Install Hangs at "Starting Windows" Screen

Having problems installing Windows 7 Home Premium from DVD on a newly built computer. When I run the Windows 7 Home Premium disc I get past "windows is loading files..." and then freeze on "starting windows" just after I see 4 little colored balls in the center of the screen.
    Here's what I've got:
    Monitor: Samsung T260HD 25.5in Rose/Black LCD w/ATSC
    HDD: 2 x Seagate 1.5TB Serial ATA HD 7200/32MB/SATA-3G
    Memory: Corsair Dominator 6144MB PC12800 DDR3 1600MHz (3x2)
    DVD: LG 22X DVDRW SATA
Motherboard: ASUS P6TD Deluxe Intel X58 Socket LGA1366 MB
Power Supply: Corsair 950w 80 Plus Power Supply
GPU: 5850 is backordered, so am using an old Nvidia (6400 GT?) to attempt to install Windows
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
I've done lots of research and tried:
    1. Using a PS2 keyboard/mouse
    2. Disabling USB in bios
    3. Disabling just about everything else in bios
    4. Tried w/ 2MB, 4MB and 6MB ram
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

    Hi Stentorian,
It seems that you have not ever tried installing other systems like Windows XP and etc on your new built computer. It is difficult for us to determine if the computer actually works.
In addition, since the installation process has not even passed first stage to copy the installation files to the memory. The issue is likely to be caused by incompatible hardware such as the incompatible motherboarad, RAM and etc. Therefore, it is strongly recommended contacting with the hardware manufacture or the retailer to help you check the issue cause you may spend too much time on testing the issue by yourself.
Or you can also try installing Windows 7 on one hard drive and plug in one memory card (2MB, 4MB and 6MB respectively) to check if it works.
NOTE: During the installation, please unplug all the unnecessary hardware devices to avoid any conflicts.
    Judy :)

  • External Monitor not recognized when running XP (MDP to HDMI)

    Hi,
I also posted this in the "Windows Compatibility" forum.
I have a new Macbook Pro (unibody, 15.4", 2.53 ghz) and I am trying to make it work with my Samsung T260HD HDTV/Monitor. I am hooking this up via a Mini displayport to HDMI adapter, Yeah! I have NO problems when using the computer in OS 10.5.6, but when I boot up into windows XP (SP3) via bootcamp, the monitor gets no signal. I know that it is NOT the adapter, Apple hardware, or monitor, because, like I said, it works fine in OS X. I am assuming that this is a windows driver thing. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions to get this to work? Thanks.
    -Dan

boot windows xp in safe mode with vga drivers to use standard 800x600 display drivers so you can see, then install teh drivers for your monitor.

  • Setting resolution on External Monitor

    I have a Macbook Pro (from 2008) and a 25.5" Samsung T260HD which has a native resolution of 1920x1200.
I need to mirror the displays or at least have all icons and such on the external display. When I mirror them, I cannot get the external monitor to use it's native resolution. instead it uses a lesser setting.
Only when I have them set to display side by side does it use 1920x1200, but then I have to go back and forth which doesn't work for my purposes.
    Thanks for advice!

when you do a mirror, you are asking for a 1:1 replication of your laptop screen. so, it's not feasable to have 2 different resolutions in mirror mode. it will only do whatever your laptop is set to.
the only MBP that will push 1920x1200 in mirror mode is a 17" HD or unibody 17". you will have to run in clamshell mode or in extended desktop to utilized the native res of the display.

  • New widescreen monitor distorts images

I am in the process of setting up and learning to use my new widescreen Samsung T260HD monitor with ATI Radeon Graphics card. Having worked on hundreds of photos in Photoshop and PSElements using a traditional 3x4 aspect ratio monitor, when I view my photos on this widescreen monitor the horizontal dimension is enlarged with respect to the vertical dimension, so the pictures look severly distorted. I tried changing the screen resolution under monitor preferences, but the problem wasn't cured.
With "View/Ruler" turned on, my 4x6inch photos don't show as 2x3 aspect ratio, but rather with a distortion factor of 20% in the horizontal direction. For example, a true 4x6 photo shows on screen as a 4.8x6 image, making editing problematical.
Can you tell me how to make my widescreen show true aspect ratios?

Your monitor should be set to its native (i.e. the highest available) resolution. If you choose a lower resolution, the kind of distortion you mention is common.

  • Suggestions for a 24" monitor

I'm think'in of getting a new 24" monitor for my macpro and am looking to spend around $600. I do mostly graphic design and editing work. Any suggestions?

Re the Samsung T260HD: Reportedly, it is not HDCP compliant. This means very few people are going to be using it with their PS3s or Blu-Ray players.
Some have said the T240HD is HDCP-compliant, but I'd research this before committing. The main advantage of the TxxxHD series is the built-in digital TV tuner. If you don't need that, then buy something else.
Also: Both the T260 and T240 use TN panels -- this is confirmed by the 160 viewing angle spec. TN + non-wall-mountable monitor + non-adjustable stand = dodgy posture compensation. Think carefully about whether you'll be able to view the monitor at the correct height and angle without adjusting the monitor itself.
The Dell 2408 is a good monitor in certain ways, but not for gaming. The Samsung PVA panel it uses already has ghosting/lag issues, but the 2408's lag is worse than tested Samsung models -- possibly because of its way of dealing with massive IO. The 3008 doesn't share any of these issues (it uses an S-IPS panel) and has the 2408's excellent connectivity. Of the monitors we're discussing, it's probably the best, but it's also more expensive.
Even so, the 2408's PVA panel is superior to the TXXHD's TN in terms of viewing angles and realistic colors. It's a better monitor for movie watching and still image editing, but I wouldn't buy it if I favored first person shooters.

  • Imac 27" won't detect samsung syncmaster dvi

A couple weeks ago I bought my first mac.  iMac 27" 2.7 GHz.  Before that I had a custom built pc with a Samsung Syncmaster T260HD hooked up through DVI.
Today I mini-display to DVI adaptor in attempt to connect my samsung and use it as an external display.  It isn't working.  Everything is connected properly and the monitor is on and set to DVI.  I go to the system pref menu and hit detect displays and nothing happens.  One thing that I have noticed it that when I switch to DVI on the monitor it goes for a sec and then basically falls asleep.  It is still on but nothing goes up.
My computer is also fully updated and I've tried restarting it.
    Please HELP!
    Thanks

    bump.
Just bought a new adapter and it still doesn't work.

  • MacBook to Samsung T240HD via DVI no display detection

    Hi,
I just bought a Samsung T240HD Display and want to connect it to my MacBook late 2008.
In order to connect the two I bought a Mini DisplayPort to DVI connector plus a DualLink DVI cable.
When I connect all of it, my display goes to sleep and the MacBook doesn't detect the display.
When I only connect the cable to the display and the adapter to the cable without hooking it up to the MacBook, the display detects a connection, but obviously there is no input signal.
The question is, of course, what the **** is wrong?
    Thanks for any answers!

I have the same problem with my T260HD. HDMI works great (1920x1200), but DVI doesn't. I can configure it to run at 1920x1200 in vista, but when I logoff/logon again the screen goes blank and stays blank. Plugging in the cable in another monitor and then in the T260HD seems to 'wake up' the display again. Dual link cable doesn't help.
Is there any conclusion on what the real problem is ? Is it the firmware or the Samsung monitor driver ? Anybody got this setup to work ?

  • Using mini-DVI to VGA adapter to Samsung display

I have 2009 late model of mac mini, The text on display looks washed out, not clear or sharp at all from day one, I thought it was the old model of monitor, tried the same cable to another monitor on another computer, SAME. so I thought the problem could be the cable or adapter.
It's hard for me to believe is the signal from computer. I'm using VGA adapter made by Dynex bought from Best Buy.
    Anybody has suggestions?? Thanks

Yeah, My old Samsung is lcd synmaster 17", bought many years ago at around $1000. Crazy, crazy price looked back. It's fine when I used it on the retired old Dell. It must be the adapter, trying not to buy another VGA adapter, could not image my next lcd will use one, anyway.
This cable has only 14 pins vs 15 pins on the other cable, not sure if it matters?? Or if Safari has anything to do with it??
    Thank for you reply...

  • Using Mac Mini and a 26" Samsung Tube TV with Apple DVI to Video Adapter

So upon first hooking this adapter up from my Mac Mini to my samsung 27" tube TV, it worked fine–but everything was massive in size. I started changing resolution sizes in the preferences panel and one of them set the screen flickering vertically, like a mismatch in refresh rates.
Anybody else have this issue and resolve it successfully? It obviously works, it was for me for the first couple minutes, but I can't figure out what sent it flickering–and how to resolve it.
The TV is connected VIA composite (RCA) cable from the adapter to the video-in port.

Try starting in Safe mode. That should get your screen back.

  • Trouble connecting MacBook to a Samsung 27'' TFT

    Hi people.
I often connect my 1,83 Core Duo MacBook to a Samsung TFT display using the Mini DVI to VGA adapter and an VGA cable, in order to watch DVDs, AVIs, high definition podcasts and that kind of stuff on a bigger screen.
The MacBook and the Samsung seem to like each other, as they instantly start to work together. But there's a little issue I just can't imagine how to work out.
The resolution of the external TFT display is 1280 x 768 and the Mac gives me the option to select it at different refresh rates. And here comes the problem:
When I select 1280 x 768 at 60 Hz, the image looks clean and crisp, but it appears displaced to the left. I mean, I loose part of the desktop on the left, and I see a narrow black column at the right of the external screen.
At 85 Hz the desktop fits the screen perfectly, but the image is a little blurry. I can work that way, but I don't like losing the crispness, and when I watch video I can actually see the frames refreshing.
At 75 Hz I have both problems, and higher refresh rates are not supported by the Samsung TFT.
Any clue about how can I work it out?
    Thanks!

Here are some details of an exact timing to try that I have used successfully on a 1280 x 768 Samsung TV. Maybe they will work for your TV.
    Pixel clock: 80.13 MHz
    H Active: 1280 pixels
    H Front porch: 64 pixels
    H Sync width: 136 pixels
    H Back porch: 200 pixels
    V Active: 768 lines
    V Front porch: 1 line
    V Sync width: 3 lines
    V Back porch: 23 lines
    H Sync is positive
V Sync is negative (no check mark in box)
Interlace is off (no check mark in box)

  • How to use Hotmail account to sign in to Samsung T...

Before I could respond to this forum I was asked to sign in.  I was going to post something fairly snarky.  Then I was asked to create a Skype Name different than my hotmail account.  So I created one.  Hopefully this will answer MY question and that is why, on my Samsung TV app does it not offer the hotmail login or sign in name.  Now maybe I can use the one Skype Name I just created???

  • Back up contacts from Samsung Reality to Droid 2X

I went on backup assistant and kept getting Flash errors. I have a Samsung Reality and I am upgrading to a Droid 2x in the next day or so. I wanted to back up my contacts but the FAQ on that subject don't seem to apply to me or the SR - (downloading the BA software). I went through all the steps but when it came to download or purchase the app, the Flash allow dialog pop up froze. Tried it three times.
I have a good data plan with the SR - so can I back up contacts or will I have to manually re-enter in the Droid?

    Nevermind! I figured it out!
