Samsung TV as second display

I have a late 2009 27inch iMac and I would like to use my Samsung TV (Model #UN32EH5000 32-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED TV) as a second display. The resolution on the Samsung TV is set to 1080p yet the picture is not as crisp as on my iMac Display. Any idea on how to fix this so that both screens are identical in image quality? There doesn't seem to be a "PC input" on the Samsung TV, just 2 HDMI ports.

  • 24" imac with second display that flickers on and off randomly

Hi, I'm a n00b here, I've read a handful of threads before posting this a I cant seem to find a definitive answer.
I have a 24" 2.4Ghz aluminium iMac and I've recently purchased a HP zr24w 24" IPS panel as a second display, connected with an apple miniDVI - DVI connector.
The screen flickers off, to totaly black every time the mac seems to be having a hard time doing something, be it fast scrolling, flash video, but someimes randomly.
I have boot camp installed with winblows vista (for work) the screen does EXACTLY the same thing, all be it less frequently. This for me rules out the Mac OS, i think it must be something video card/driver related.
Was there ever a fix for this? most of the threads seem to just die with no official answer, it would appear that MBP users were ok until the last 10.6.3 update, when the problem seems to have returned, although i think thats a different issue with the same net effect.
I have spoken to apple care and the very helpful girl I spoke to send me some logging software which I've run and sent the logs back, that may help them out someway.
Any help would be GREAT !!
    many thanks
    Michael

well, some time has passed, here's where I'm at so far.
I tried a friend's samsung 24" screen and all was good with the world, no flickering on and off, no black outs nothing, for days it was all fine. I swapped the HP monitor back on and it went right back to its old ways. I called HP tech support, they decided that the monitor was faulty, i returned it to where I got it from and they have sent me a new one. Which was fine, for about 7 hours!!
So, to recap, the mini-DVI to DVI adapter is fine as it worked on the samsung screen, the HP screen is brand new and exhibiting the exact same issue as the first one (cant be 2 faulty ones surely) The samsung screen was fine.
This leads me to think that there is some compatibility issue between the 24" imac and this particular (hp zr24w) monitor.
I have followed apple support's requests for data logging but they cant find anything wrong there.
I'm out of ideas, any help would be GREATLY appreciated !!!
    thanks

  • Second Display Size with 24" iMac?

I have a new 24" iMac and currently using a 22" Dell Monitor as a second. However, I'm wanting to get one that will sit better next to the iMac. It doesn't really need to be the exact same size, but I'm looking for it to sit perfect next to the iMac so the screens are flush side by side (without the second sitting on a box like I do now). Will the Apple Displays sit up the same height as the iMacs? I've never seen one in person or can other with a 24" iMac recommend one that does?

Here are the dimensions for the Apple Cinema Displays. The 24" iMac sits at 20.5" high so the closest as far as the Cinema displays is the 30" You're going to be hard pressed to find a display that is the same height. I personally use a Samsung 20" as a second display sitting on a support I built to bring it to the same height as the iMac

  • Second display via Thunderbolt "flashes" after EFI 1.7

I have a second display (Samsung SyncMaster 245BW) connected to my 27" iMac via Thunderbolt and a miniDisplay -> DVI connector.  I just recently got the 1.7 EFI software update and noticed that the second display will flash every 2 - 3 minutes.  Anyone else seeing this?  Should I revert back to the previous EFI?

KVM switches are either compatible with Macs or they are problematic at best.
I had a KVM here that when I switched to another screen/keyboard, the screen would stay black, until I disconnected and reconnected the Mac video cable. It was a PITA. Threw it in the trash eventually.
I now have a mini and a nettop Linux box, both connected to the same monitor with DVI and VGA respectively. The screens are switched with a button on the monitor. If I need a keyboard on the Linux box, I attach one, otherwise I ssh into it and use the Apple keyboard. There is a separate wireless USB mouse on the Linux box, as needed.

  • Resolution Limitations with Second Display

What´s the maximum video resolution macbook MB403 can drive?
I´m using a second display (Samsung wide screen syncMaster 226BW, and after configuring it at 1680x1050 - which is the usual resolution for this type of display, I realized that the actual resolution was not greater of 1280x800, although the video configuration set indicated and normaly accepted the 1680x1050 as the second display resolution.
Is there a configuration setting I have forgotten?
It seems that 1280x800 is the higher resolution accepted by macbook own display. Is there any relation or limitation related with a second display?
    Thanks.

So does anyone have experience with the Envision 22" LCD display (G2219w1)?
It works well with my 5-year-old PowerMac G4 BUT with the MacBook the whites and grays are tinged with color and the overall colors are overly saturated. Moreover, the pictures are grainy and text is muddy. I can't seem to find a good match of resolution after trying several combinations. It's reasonably sharp at 1680x1050 but the image is quite small (about 3" border on all sides which is pretty much the same size as the MacBook).
Is there anything I can do? I've tried lots of adjustments on the LCD and in the display configuration on the MacBook.

  • Adding Second Display... Do I Need A More Powerful Card?

    Hello everybody...
I purchased my powermac for editing purposes and I'm currently working off of a Samsung 24" LCD. I'm now ready to get my second display, which will most likely be a 32" LDC TV (sos I can use it as a TV as well as a display). Anyway, my Mac's rockin the ATI X800 XT (DVI + Apple Display Port). Will my card have enough juice to power these displays simultaneously? I know that the specs claim that the card can handle a 23" and a 30" together, but obvously I will be 3" over that claim...
Any help whatsoever is greatly appreciated
    THANKS

the problem that you're going to have is that large lcd tvs just don't look that great up close. they're designed to be viewed from at least 4 times the screen size (unlike your mac display which is almost certainly no more than 1.5 times the size.
we have 2 x 28" and 1 x 32" sharp aquos tvs here and even with a dvi connection the display is really not suitable for viewing up close.
the other thing to consider is that personally i wouldn't like to make edit or colour decisions using an lcd display. you need a well calibrated crt display or better still a broadcast monitor.

  • Using minni DVI plug for second display

If I use my minni DVI output on my Imac for a second display, can I set the second display to a different resolution and use both displays at the same time.

When you set up the second monitor system preferences will pop up in the second monitor and you can try several different settings.
I connected my Samsung SyncMaster 192N to the mini dvi port and it works fine but it doesn't seem as bright as when I had it connected to my Windows PC. I use it to run Windows XP in VMWare Fusion. That way I can run it full screen but still have a full screen for OSX.

  • Mouse moving to second display when off

I have a late 2012 iMac running Mavericks with a Samsung SyncMaster as a second display.  When the 2nd monitor is turned off (manually from the power button on the monitor) my mouse pointer will still move to that display.  I personally don't use the 2nd display, but my husband and kids do but on their own logins.  I've unchecked the "displays have separate spaces" in mission control, unplugged and plugged the monitor back in, and with every restart it still does it.  Any ideas how to prevent this?  It's get really annoying when I can't find the pointer and have to move the mouse for what seems like forever to get it visible again.

I want to add the second display is connected to the iMac via mini display port to DVI adapter, plugged into thunderbolt port.

  • Change color on second display

    Hi folks,
I have some trouble setting up a different color on my second display.
I am using a mac mini (late 2012) with mountain lion.
My main display is plugged via hdmi and the second is via thunderbolt with a hdmi adapter.
So, when I open the color settings I see a color window on both displays. The problem is that if I change on the second screen the color profile it changes on my first screen.
I somehow think its because of that the other display is connected via thunderbolt.
The displays are both Samsung SyncMaster S22B350
Has anyone else had this issue before?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

Sorry, I don't have te luxury of 2 monitors anymor, hopefully some other helpers pipe in!

  • How to remove second display on settings

I have a Macbook Pro 13inch and a Samsung LED TV. Last time i used to view my work on the large screen using HDMI cable, with same resolution on MBP and the TV. Now, when i connect the HDMI, the MBP screen resolution distorts and widens and the TV resolution compress a bit. What could be the problem? And i want to get rid of the second display on my settings. Some rubbish app automatically installed the second display. Please help me.

The settings lockout would be controlled through the EWS (embedded web server) of the printer.  The lockout is really designed for the Officejet printers to prevent others from making printer changes that could affect how the printer behaves.  For example, to keep the date and time set to that faxes show an accurate receive time.
Get the printer's IP address by pressing the network icon at the top of the screen.
Enter this IP address into the address bar of a web browser on a computer.  The printer's status page should load.  If you receive any certificate warnings, choose the option that lets you continue anyway.
Click on Settings and then go to Administrator Settings on the left.  Many of the features of the front panel are controlled here.  Make sure everything is checked except for Control Panel Lock.  Once this is set, click apply.
Power off the printer for at least 1 minute and then power it back on to force the new setting to take effect.
You could also try setting the date and time under preferences on the left of the settings page, but it sounds like the lockout issue is more widespread than just date and time.
The Admin settings page should look similar to this screenshot when it is set the way it should be.

  • Crome - stuck in full screen on Second display

    Hello
I am in need of some help here.
I have a dual screen set up
Main display - Apple 30" display
Second display - Apple 23" display
At one point I have enabled full screen mode with Google Crome on my 23" display and I can't get it out of Full Screen.
I have quit Crome and tried to start it holding down different keys - Command, option and also control, (alone not together)
No change, still runs full screen
    UGH - hate it.
I have tried 'esc' and the blue arrows in the upper right of the screen both did not help.
    Thanks

  • Msi big bang xpower2 - only boots for 10 seconds, displays error b7

    Hey guys,
As the title states. I am getting 'b7' on the error display which i read somewhere means 'no input devices detected', can someone confirm this? I have tried turning on the PC with 1 GPU, 2 GPU, and no GPU in different configurations but I get the same error each time. It just boots for 10 seconds, displays 'b7' and then restarts and does it all over again. Help would be massively appreciated as I need this PC for work :(
    Thanks

  • I want to use my apple TV as a second monitor not a mirrored one, in other words, I want to use my TV as a second screen not a copy of my first screen, other people have asked this question but have been given mirroring answers. I want a second display.

I want to use my apple TV as a second monitor not a mirrored one, in other words, I want to use my TV as a second screen not a copy of my first screen, other people have asked this question but have been given mirroring answers so I am spelling it out here very specifically. I want a second display. This should be possible and would be awesome. Anyone know how to do this?

Nevermind I just installed it to try it and it's awesome, so happy right now, Thanks. All the things I had read about it on third party sites led me to believe it could not do extended desk tops, thanks for your help!

  • Is there a way to connect the Apple TV as a second display without it automatically changing my Mac's audio output?

Is there a way to connect the Apple TV as a second display without it automatically changing my Mac's audio output? I would prefer to use an audio interface for playback and the apple tv as a third display. I know I can go back to system preferences and swap my output back manually, but it is getting to be really inconvienient. Thoughts?
