SAN based restoration or RMAN restoration for Active Dataguard
Hi ,
We have oracle 11gr2 on aix OS ,I am planning to configure active dataguard for DB size 250 GB.
FOr DB restoration on standby side if i go for SAN based OS block level Relication between primary and standby how to link DB LUn on standby which are mounted with diffrent LUN name on standby DB.
OR RMAN restoartion is only method to go for standby DB restoartion ..
My conncerns is if i go for RMAN than it will take more than 8 hours and it will affect my DB performance ..
Please help me suggest which approch is better ? If it SAN based than how to link LUn to DB file .
Thanks in Advance.

Choosing protection mode for Active dataguard
Hi Gurus,
I'm confused with Active dataguard configuration-What mode do i need to configure physical standby to make use of actice dataguard.I know i can even use maximum performance with standby redolog for real time query. But what is the minimum protection mode to run active dataguard.
How can i setup a delay of 1 hour for active dataguard in 11gr2?
ThanksYou said:
>
By default Dataguard is in Maximum performance mode..we can set delay of 1 hour by setting the
log_archive_dest_2="service=to_standby lgwr async affirm reopen=60"
or
log_archive_dest_2="service=to_standby lgwr async delay=60"
>
I am sorry, but your first log_archive_dest_2 value is not correct:
The combination of ASYNC & AFFIRM is not supported and not sensible; REOPEN=60 will not delay the Redo Apply
See here for a proper explanation of log_archive_dest_n:

Active dataguard for Oracle 10g SE
Hi all,
I am having Oracle 10g SE and i need to ship the logs to the standby can i use active dataguard for this.

1)If i am having oracle 10g EE can i go for dataguard.Active DataGuard is a paid option of EE, you need to buy it additionally to EE.
But DG is being installed by default in EE.
2)If i am having 11g SE can i go for Active data guard. You must upgrade your license and buy Active DataGuard option, then upgrade installed Oracle software and database itself.
And if it is userbased licence can i use dataguard in Oracle 10g SE.There is no dataguard in SE, there is just a manual applied standby.
Difficult question. Some of Oracle resellers said, that manual standby is a backup option of SE, some of them said, that standby DB must be licensed as a primary.
So you must contact to yours and discuss this.
And also in 11g SE its userbased can i go for active dataguard. The same to 11g -

Could any one please shed some lights on finding the reason for this issue ?It's been interesting, The job runs only on ADG?
Even it is only reporting purposes, Which runs only select statements. Are you sure that issue is only because of this job?
Moreover am interested to know, How you able to monitor at the same time? Using EM?
What all are the jobs ran on primary at the same time?
Then, is it possible to run the job on primary and see whats the response?
I suggest you to run the same job again on standby and see the ET of the job and also gather the statspack to check whether you got same buffer busy waits or not.
What storage you are using for primary and standby? In terms of I/O and performance all are same?
You got chance to take statspack even on primary database?
What are the parameters differ in primary and standby?
Also check this note, Heresome work around provided.

Oracle Active Dataguard 11g - Passwords
Hi all
Environment description: Production database, 11.2.0.3 version, standalone running on Solaris and an Oracle Active Dataguard database in read only mode, same version and operating system.
Question: The users passwords and sys/system passwrod (orapw ) could be different in the ADG environment? I mean, could the orapwd file and user password be changed in the Dataguard database ?
Thanks a lot.user1687821 wrote:

Active dataguard is option after configuring dataguard.
You can put standby database in Open(read only) mode also you can enable Recover(MRP) while open so this can be used for reporting purpose too.
Please refer below links for configuring them.

Licensing DataGuard and Active DataGuard
can someone help find specifically where the differences between Active Data Guard and Data Guard are documented on Oracle?
Also,
Is Active Dataguard functionallity in 11gR1 and 11gR2, or just R2?
Is Dataguard still included as part of the DB licensing, while Active Dataguard is an additional cost?Hi,

RMAN restore from active database, ASM
I'm attempting to refresh a stage database from a prod database using RMAN restore from active database. Both are on ASM. After working through various hurdles, I've got one issue I'm a bit stuck on. I've got a handful of data files that do NOT have OMF names (ie MSTRDATA/mstrmdpd/datafile/gsa_indx instead of MSTRDATA/mstrmdpd/datafile/gsa_indx.351.714779777) and these are failing when I do the restore. The syntax I'm using in RMAN is as follows:
duplicate target database to dwstage
from active database
spfile parameter_value_convert 'dwprod','dwstage'
SET DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT '+DWPROD','+DWSTAGE'
SET LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT '+DWPROD','+DWSTAGE';
The error message I'm getting is this:
RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on ORA_DISK_1 channel at 04/21/2011 13:26:24
ORA-17628: Oracle error 19505 returned by remote Oracle server
continuing other job steps, job failed will not be re-run
Normally from what I've seen/read this error can be traced back to needing to pre-create the directories for the controlfiles etc, but since 90% of the datafiles copied correctly...
Any suggestions as to a way around this, or am I going to be forced to restore from a backupset? This fails saying that "ORA-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections" which is quite normal given that the listener is havig a handle in BLOCKED state for this AUXDB as it is in NOMOUNT state.
Could you please help me on how to proceed?
One option can be to create the controlfile manually and mount the instance before doing the duplicate. I hope Rman can continue from there.
Another option is to go for backup based duplicate.
Is there any other way to go?
Provide static registration on AUXILIARY side for your auxiliary instance and try again. For example change listener.ora file as
SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(GLOBAL_DBNAME = AUXDB)
(ORACLE_HOME = <your oracle home>)
(SID_NAME = AUXDB)
LISTENER =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <auxiliary host/ip>)(PORT = 1521))
)And restart listener on auxiliary host then try again -

Wazir AliWell, if you did it yourself, then there is a chance that you damaged some other component inside the device that is causing your issue. The iPhone's are not user serviceable, and once you have opened the device you have voided any warranty and post-warranty support from Apple. I would try Google to see if you can find any other way to repair your device, as Apple will no longer look at it.

P L E A S E H E L P. . .Hi guys,
I keep getting "waiting for activation" on my iMessage. I can only send/receive iMessage from my email address, NOT my phone number.
I have done all kind of fixing suggestions that I can find online, but nothing works so far.
- Date & time set as automatic (I don't know why this matter, but mine was already set as automatic from the begining)
- Reset network setting
- Changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8.
- Restore to factory setting (from back up & as new iPhone)
- Turning on/off iMessage & facetime
- Sign out/in of apple ID
- Change location from apple ID
- Hard reset/reboot
And many others.
...me too. I'm in Portugal having the same issue!! Hopefuly Apple will give us a solution, shortly... -
I restored my iphone 4 using i tune and now it is asking for activation. How to activate it..?
Setting up and activating iPhone
To set up and activate iPhone, turn on iPhone and follow the Setup Assistant. The Setup Assistant
steps you through the setup process, including connecting to a Wi-Fi network, signing in with or
creating a free Apple ID, setting up iCloud, turning on recommended features such as Location
Services and Find My iPhone, and activating iPhone with your carrier. You can also restore from
an iCloud or iTunes backup during setup.
Activation can be done over a Wi-Fi network or, with iPhone 4S or later, over your carrier’s cellular
network (not available in all areas). If neither option is available, you need to connect iPhone to
your computer running iTunes for activation. You might also read http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3424 -

Careless? Possible, but unlikely. Most likely the phone was stolen from the first owner. It would be a VERY careless iPhone owner who did not erase their personal information from a phone before selling it, and to do that it is necessary to disable Activation Lock. In most places in the world knowingly using stolen property is a crime, so the fact that the phone doesn't work may be the least of one's risks.
