SanDisk Card Reader stopped working with OS X 10.4.7

I have an older SanDisk single smart card reader, model SDDR-55. It worked fine with 10.2, but I cannot seem to get it to work with 10.4.7.
When I reinstall the SanDisk driver (the most recent download available from them) and restart, I get an error when connecting the reader to my USB hub.
The error says, "The system extension '/System/Library/Extensions/OnUSBMassStorageClass.kext was installed improperly and cannot be used.'"
I have tried reinstalling, deleting the /System/Library/Caches files, restarting, calling SanDisk to make sure the latest driver works with 10.4.7. "It should", they tell me. So I am out of ideas. If anyone knows how to fix this please help me out. Thanks in advance!
G4 Yikes! Tower   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   400 MHz / 100GB HD

I know what you mean. My Zio smart media reader will not work either. if I install the driver and immediately use the card reader, it will work.
Once I repair permissions, the reader will not work until I reinstall the driver again. Very frustrating.

  • Card reader stopped working

My card reader (sd,ms,xd) quit working. It worked for two years with no problems and today it quit. I have an HP Pavilion Slimline s5220y desktop and Windows 7. When an SD card is plugged in, nothing. Autoplay is on and I am able to transfer pics manually from the card to the PC. Also, simultaneously, when I try and attach a pic to an email (gmail) only 5 library folders are displayed out of the 50+ folders in my My Pictures library.  This seemed to happen about the same time as Google wanted me to use Drive; could there be a Google gremlin at work here? I'm not much of a computer guy so I need simple answers, please.

    Hello larrydayton,
Your card reader stopped working correctly.
Since you’re having multiple problems at the same time, I’d suggest a system restore.
This will take the system back to when everything was working correctly without affecting your personal files.
Here is a link on how to do a restore.
Let me know how everything goes
    Have a good day.

  • Small CF card reader that works with the iPad Camera Kit?

I'm looking for a small (not much bigger than a CF card) CF Card reader that works with the iPad Camera kit (USB piece) - Anyone know of one?
All the ones I see people suggesting are big and bulky (made for a desktop). I know there are many smaller ones, but that the iPad camera kit doesn't work with everyone. Anyone know one that works with it?

My set up, quite compact for travel, this is a no brand version but I have seen other ones branded Integra or something similar.

  • Satellite A205 - SD Card reader stopped working after Win 7 upgrade

    Satellite A205-SP5818
I recently upgraded to Windows 7, and, among other things, the SD Card reader stopped working. I already downloaded and installed the driver offered in this site: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2190493& rpn=PSAE3U&modelFilter=&selCategory=3&selFamily=10 73768663 (it's the next-to-last driver shown) but it went from not working all together to making funny noices when I insert the SD card... and then not working.
Any ideas of other drivers that might work, or any kind of other solution?
    Thanks.

    Hi
Try to remove eh SD card controller from the device list.
    Then reboot the unit.
After that windows will ask you for an driver.
    You can download this driver:
    [SD Driver, Flash Memory v2.0.0.7|http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/driver_cardreader_ti_25844A.exe]
You should unzip this package and has to point the driver files in this folder
This should helps to get the SD card reader working again

    Hello @rusty99nail,
I understand that your SD Card Reader is not working on your HP Pavilion Elite HPE-500z CTO Desktop PC. Has it ever worked? If so I suggest you follow the steps in the HP Support document: Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7) and roll your system back to a point in time where your SD Card Reader worked.
If it still does not work after the Microsoft System Restore I would like you to do a backup and recovery of your computer back to factory settings. To backup your personal information and ensure that it is not lost I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7), which will ensure your personal files are up to date.
***WARNING!! If you want to keep any emails or bookmarks/favorites you will want to back those up as well as I do not believe they are backed up in the HP Backup process.
Next, I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7), which will you through recovering your computer back to factory settings.
*** IMPORTANT - Your personal files such as libraries, personalization settings, user accounts, and desktop themes are permanently removed. As well the computer settings are returned to the defaults (the way it was when it came from the factory). All apps and software that were installed on the computer when it came from the factory are reinstalled, and their settings are reset to the defaults. Additionally, software, apps, programs, and everything that you have installed or saved on the computer are permanently removed.

  • Flex 14 SD card reader not working with larger cards on Windows 8.1

The card reader in my Flex 14 is behaving very oddly. When I insert a 16GB SDHC card it makes the 'USB inserted' noise and the card shows up under device manager but I can't access it through file explorer. The card reader works fine with smaller SD cards that I have. I tried the card in another, Win7 laptop and it worked fine.
I see a number of other people are having a similar problem and I have followed all of the troubleshooting advice I can find, but nothing is working. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
This is what I have tried:
    1. Leaving the card in the camera and attaching the camera via USB cable to the laptop: same result, noise, but can't access the card.
    2. Trying to reassign the drive letter through storage controller: it shows the card but if you right click it to assign it a drive letter it says the 'file is missing'.
    3. Downloaded the Win8.1 x64 driver from Lenovo website and installed. This stopped the card being recognised at all.
    4. Installed the Win8 xc4 driver: this got me back to the noise but no action stage.
    5. Updated Windows.
    6. Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver numerous times both with the card inserted and without it and with restarting the computer after unistall and after reinstall.
    7. Ran Ubunutu from a live USB: This allowed me to see the card and copy its contents to the laptop's HDD.
So it seems to be some incompatibility between the Lenovo drivers and Win8.1. Potentially it's to do with the USB drivers rather than the card reader drivers as the result when using the USB cable and the camera was the same as putting the card in the card reader. Is there a way to update these?
Any other troubleshooting steps I could take?
    Thanks.

    What size are the cards?
Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • HP Pavilion Elite e9280t Desktop - Memory Card Reader Stopped Working

    Hello,
I have a HP Pavilion Elite e9280t CTO Desktop PC ...  The memory card reader recently stopped working.  I believe, maybe the firmware, and/or driver was deleted by one of my optimization softwares. I checked the "Device Manager" list and was unable to locate "any" memory card device.  All the USB plugs work fine. When I place an SD card in the memory card reader slot, the light comes on, but the computer does not recognize the card. The card does not show up in my "Computer"  window with the other drives.  I checked the card out on my other computer, and it worked fine.   I also have an HP laptop that I tested my SD cards on, and the cards worked fine on my laptop.
I would appreciate any help, or suggestions, that any one might give.

  • How can you get Belkin Media Card Reader to work with Fifth Gen iPod?

I got a new 80Gb iPod and then discovered my Belkin Card Reader I've used extensively with my 4th Gen iPod, no longer works with the new one. I easily transferred photo albums on my PC to the new iPod but the Belkin Reader is "not recognized" by the new one.
This is a MAJOR disappointment to me as we travel a lot and I've used my iPod all over the world for photo storage. I had about 15Gb of photos on my older 40 Gb iPod before I transferred them off and got the new one.
Is there any other portable card reader that will work with the 5th Gen iPod's?

  • Acrobat 9 does not recognize the smart card reader that work with other app. Can someone help me?

    Hi to All,
Acrobat 9 (included in CS4 design premium) does not recognize the smart card reader. I have a smart card reader ACR38 smart card that works with all applications except Acrobat 9 pro. I tried to uninstall and reinstall it again, but when I try to insert the digital signature message is always the same, that does not find the Acrobat reader. Can someone help me?

    Hi MartinR
Thank you for your reply, i have tried what you suggest, and it did not work, the i DVD opening title changed but not the embedded movie.
Perhaps it is a setting in Final Cut Express?
After capturing my footage, i open a new project then i convert all clips to anamorphic, to give me the letterbox effect, i have tried now with and without anamorphic.
In my canvas screen, the footage does not fill the square, even if i have not selected anamorphic, and fall well within the TV safe areas, but the only way to ill the canvas up is to crop it bigger, but still when i export it does not give me the full screen view.
    Any ideas?

  • Camera card reader that works with video iPod

I have tried a San Disk, Lexar, and another card reader, but can't find one that is supported by the camera connector. It works fine with my Nikon D100, but that is USB 1.1 and I am looking for a faster download using a USB 2.0 card reader.
The on-line manuals state it can be done.
    Any suggestions?

I have the Sony MSAC-30US card reader and tried to hook it up to my 30 gig 5g ipod with the camera connecter and it said that it did not recognize it. The apple website says that it will support tranfer of pictures directly from camera but I do not have the cable. I ordered the cable for my camera to usb so I can hok them up together

  • Card Reader that works with Camera Connector!!

Yes, for a mere $12,000, I'll give you the info as to the brand name and where to get it...
OK, but seriously, I was at Surplus Computers in Santa Clara yesterday, and they have all kinds of weird parts 'n stuff. I picked up an OLD Belkin Dual USB Media Reader for CompactFlash & SmartMedia (toldja it was old!)
When I got home, I hooked it up and successfully transferred some pix from one of my CF cards. The thing was only ten bucks!!
I tried to look on Surplus Computer's website to see if it was listed there, but no dice. Guess you gotta hit the store in person.

Just discovered today - a Compact Flash Media Card Reader that connects to the iPod Photo (30 gb) with the Apple camera connector. Best of all is that it only costs $15 Canadian.
Thank you to The Source (used to be Radio Shack in Canada) and London Drugs computer department employees who let me bring in my iPod to test on all their Media Cards.
    And the winner is:
London Drugs - Simple Perfection Card reader/Writer Model CR-T2-UC. This is a USB 1.1 device that comes with a cable (not required). Supports both Type I & II Compact Flash cards or IBM MicroDrive. Plug & Play.
Procedure - CF card into Simple Perfection. Turned on iPod and plugged in Apple camera connector - iPod reads "Connecting". Plugged in Simple Perfection - iPod reads downloading or some such comment. 2 Menu selections and download begins.
    Results/specifications:
Sandisk Ultra II 512 mb card with 100 images totalling 260.74 mb (each image about 2.33 mb) took 9 minutes. These images are 3008 x 2000 in size (Fine). Perfectly acceptable. iPod still at about 3/4 power which is where I started.
Sandisk Type I 512 mb card with 20 images of about 2.33 mb each took 1 minute (very close to 2 minutes). Also acceptable. Same resolution. Still 3/4 power left in iPod which is were I started.
iPod to Mac computer and all downloaded perfectly.
The reverse side of the Simple Perfection case shows that this device is available in 10 countries - sorry but I don't know all the flags - NOT USA but Britain, Australia, France, Japan, Italy, + + +. CD in the package too but I won't be setting up on a computer as I already have card readers on my computers.
By the way I use NIKON 5000, 8700 and D70s (SLR) and all 3 download to iPod with the camera connector - make sure you have PPT enable.
Hope that helps all! I am most impressed with this little $15 device! Yahoo! Yippee!

  • Pavilion p6-2330 Card reader stopped working

Hi!  I seem to be having trouble with my card reader - it has always worked fine up until 2 days ago, and I have used this particular sd card in it before with no problem.   Now when I put my card in the slot the green light comes on but when I go into "Computer" nothing shows up.   Also when I have the SD card in the slot the computer freezes - webpages won't load until I take the card out.  Thanks for any help you're able to give me!

    Hello catki,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that until recently your card reader worked fine, but in the last few days you have been unable to read your SD card.  First thing I would recommend is that you try a different SD card to ensure it is not the SD card itself that is the issue.
If the second SD card does not work either then I am providing you with an HP Support document: Using and Troubleshooting Memory Card Readers (Windows 8), which will walk you through troubleshooting your card reader.
If the second SD card works it is your SD card that is the issue. Try reformatting it and see if it works, if not it may need replacing.
Please re-post if you require additional support. Thank you for bringing this issue to the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Savage S3 cards dri stops working with recent savage-dri

I'm using a Thinkpad T23 which has a Savage S3 video card and I've just run into issues starting zsnes and on the search for the problem found that "glxinfo" gave out the following:
    ../common/drirenderbuffer.c:69: driNewRenderbuffer: Assertion `format == 0x1908 || format == 0x8050 || format == 0x8058 || format == 0x81A5 || format == 0x81A6 || format == 0x81A7 || format == 0x8D48' failed.
After playing with older versions a bit, I found out that I needed to downgrade savage-dri to version 7.6-2, and along with that libgl to 7.6-2 as well. I can leave the xf86-video-savage drivers at their current version (2.3.1-2) and dri works again (zsnes starts and glxinfo works).
Downgrading works, but isn't really a nice solution, has anyone experienced similar issues or knows what's going on?

Well you're not alone.  I just reinstalled Arch on my T21 thinkpad and experienced the same issues trying to play Diablo II in wine.  Thanks to your post, downgrading solves the issue for me too.  They're working on it though (reference bug #17638)
Edit: It's nice to know that these old thinkpads just seem to go on forever.
