SanDisk problems

I have a SanDisk card reader and have had no problems uploading my digital pictures.  All of a sudden, my memory card is not "readable" by iPhoto or Disk Utility.  I am trying to take my mom's memory card from her Cannon and upload the pictures on my MacBook.  However, the disk is not found.  My mom has been able to upload pictures on her iMac but we do not have that computer with us.  Any thoughts?

hi n97fanboy
The class thing is to do with the minimum write speed of the cards, and thus the class only describes "how good" a card is for the type of device the card is used with. Some devices require slower speed cards than others, some devices might require faster ones. Grschinon further up this thread indicated that class 2 may be too slow for the N85, and that it's minimum write speed is that of a class 4, which is the class of the micro SHDC card that the UK version of the N85 is supplied with. This makes sense.
However, the Nokia website states that the N97 and N85 is compatible with their Class 2 16GB card, but we're not sure that this is correct given the behaviour of Sandisk Class 2 16GB cards in the device (I've had one fried, and almost lost the second one). Personally I've gone back to the 8GB Class 4 supplied with the phone, and will try and find a larger class 4 or above card at a later date.
I'm sorry I can't help with the best card for the N97 as I've only played with the device in the Nokia Store. If it comes supplied with a microSDHC card, check for the digit on that card. If you do decide to upgrade it to a larger card, you should stick to the same class number it has or a larger one, from the experiences dkawa and myself have had with the N85. Best to try and get someone from Nokia's technical department's to confirm.

  • Nokia 5300 Sandisk problem

Last week I decided to upgrade my 3310 and bought a 5300 instead. The card which was in the phone when I got it is way to small for my space requirements so I bought a Sandisk 4gb since I heard those are the best.
Here comes the trouble, when I pop in the memory card the phone wont read it. I cant find it anywhere.
Is it a SD malfunction, phone malfunction or something 3rd ?
    Nikola

The 5300 is quite an old model now and it's only capable of using a 2gb card at maximum.
4GB cards are a different format (SDHC) and these cannot be read by older models.
So you need to buy a 2GB card.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Problem one: You are running out of disk space on your machine. You need to solve this problem first: OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on. Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially. Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do. Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Problem Two: It’s quite likely that running on an overcrowded disk has caused damage to the Library. Once you have made space on your disk either restore from your back up or Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Problems with Sandisk Cruzer flash drive

I've never used a flash drive before but I recently bought a 4GB SanDisk Cruzer flash drive to use for temporary backups of photo images. When I first inserted it into the USB port of my Mac Mini PPC G4 it wouldn't show up in the finder. I called SanDisk and they told me to reformat the drive using Disk Utility's OS Mac Extended which I did. The drive then worked fine. Recently I dragged all the photos saved on the drive to the trash and attempted to save about a 100 new photos to it and I got an insufficient space error message. As there should have been plenty of room for these photos I was puzzled by this and wound up reformatting the drive again in hopes that it would solve the problem, which it did. Am I doing something wrong here, and if not, any idea what's forcing me to to reformat the drive every time I want to add new files to it?
    Thanks,
    Win

As simple as it sounds, one has to ask first...
When you dragged items from the flash drive to the Trash
or had highlighted them all, and used Move to Trash... Did
you Empty the Trash - and clear the items from the flash?
The usual issues are with unmounting the USB flash,
and when moving a lot of content, the time lag; so a
few knowns continue to be similar with most users.
Once in awhile, you may get a defective item, and if that
happens right away, some retail vendors will exchange
the one that does not work with another, or credit back
if bought on a card and you can choose to try elsewhere.
    Reformatting the USB flash drive is often a last resort;
but that should've fixed the basic problem. If flash acts
up you can also use Get Info on the item to see if it says
there is a content being held there after you've thought
to trash the files associated with its use.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Sandisk Compact Flash problem

I have an older Canon Digital Elph S250 digital camera that uses compact flash media. The CF card can be read fine through a card reader on my desktop Windows XP computer. But when I try to read the card on my Mac using a CF USB reader, it tells me that the drive cannot be read by a Mac. The file system used appears to be FAT 16, which is an older DOS file system. Any ideas about this? Do more modern cameras with a different kind of flash card use a different file system that can be read on a Mac? I would like to be able to read the cards on either of my computers. I want to load the pictures on the desktop since I have automated backup there, but I sure prefer to use my Mac to look at and manipulate the photos. But I don't want to have to transfer from one computer to the other every time over my wireless network.

It shouldn't be, since I'm using a very high-quality power supply, an Antec TruePower 330.  I also can't imagine a USB card reader to use enough power to cause problems.  It really doesn't use any juice anyway until you put a memory card in it.
Also, if I plug it in after Windows has loaded it will recognize it right away every time.  I think if I plug it in while Windows is booting it will freeze the boot process until I unplug it again.

  • I was using my SanDisk Cruzer 4GB today and I ran into problems. Can someone please help?!

When I was using my SanDisk Cruzer 4GB today I ran into some problems.
I was using it normally as I have been doing for 1 year and suddenly this message came up:
"Because your USB device is drawing too much power it has been disabled." Then my USB crashed...
I have tried plugging it back in, and it didn't work, I have tried Safe Boot-ing my computer, but still no result, nothing works.
When I plug my mouse into the same slot, but that does work. So do my USB headphones.
Can someone please help me, and don't suggest buying a new USB stick.
P.S. I need help A.S.A.P because I need to have a school project done and my work is on my SanDisk Cruzer 4GB.
    Lucas

It sounds like it is hosed. I hope you have a backup. The only thing I can suggest is to test it in a different computer.

  • Problems with Sandisk 16Gb microsdhc Class 2 in N8...

    Hello to you all..
Yesterday my 16Gb microSDHC died... I wanted to charge my phone and suddenly the phone freezes and it refused to turn back on. So I decided to eject the 16Gb card and gladly I managed to turn my phone back on. So the problem was the microSDHC card. I had tested it with my PC but no response..
This is my 2nd 16Gb card!! I never had problems with the standard 8Gb card..
So finally I went to the shop and returned the dead card and got a refund. So now I am back to my old 8Gb card and till now everything works fine.
But is there somebody else that had problems with a 16Gb microSDHC card in a N85 (particulary Sandisk)? Because I think the card reacted on some sort of Voltage level that he could not handle... Can this be possible?

  • SanDisk Ultra SDHC 4GB Problems

I have a MacBook Pro that I recieved for Christmas in 2009. I have this SanDisk Ultra SDHC (15MB/s) card that I use in my Canon digtial camera. When I insert the card into my Mac, it reads the card and brings up the pictures, and allows me to import. But I cannot delete, move, or add anything to the card. I have followed the directions from SanDisk on how to lock and unlock the card and still nothing. Does the MacBook not support this SDHC card?

Remove all the picture from the card onto your Mac. Then insert the card into the camera and reformat it there. Should be OK now.

  • Problem with SanDisk Ultra 32gb

Having problems with this memory card.  I am unable to download my photos from my Canon Digital camera onto my MacBook Pro into I photo.  It comes up as unreadable files.  However, I was able to download my first set of photos without a problem.  Any ideas?

Hello, you can try to connect the card to a different computer or use the camera as a reader along with the mac and see if you are able to download the files from the card other option is to format the card with the pc and see if it was an error with the card

  • Creative C100 problem with 1Giga SD sandisk c

    Hello all,
    Short version:
G card transformed into 52MB card
    HELP!
    Long version:
After researching this forum, that helped me a lot with using the SD card.
Ok, now I head some problem to get WINDOWS to recognize the card at all, while the C00 did that ok, & said I had 999MBfree/999total, which is ok by me.
Then after I got XP to recognize the card (I inserted the card while the C00 was already connected to the computer) & I formatted the card just in case.
Then I started copying music on it & after a while I failed & said I have no more room.
I looked at the parameters & saw I had copied 500mb of music while the other 500mb are BAD SECTORS!!! I freaks, I tried formatting the card a again & did chkdsk/r on it, The bad sectors were still there!
I wanted to do a low level format so it could try & fix the bad sectors, I searched & found "Onbelay" that can do that.
I started a format with "Onbelay" but the format stuck in the beginning, so I closed the program & formatted the card win XP again. Then the weird thing happened, it was formatted as a 52card instead Giga card (with bad sectors or not).
I freaked again, did the C00 "restriction" of 52mb expansion card just kicked in? After I heard everyone that it works?
I tried & closed all other programs in my computer & did another format with "Onbelay" it went well but in the end (almost 00%) it gave an error msg!
So now I am with G SD card working as 52 card.
    HELP
I need a way to bring back the lost 500MB!
    HELP

Yep, same problem here as well.

My advice is to contact creative tech support and tell them everything about the card you bought. It's what I've been doing for the past week or so. Perhaps if they have enough people complaining about the issue, they'll do something about it.
According to the data sheet on the transcend website, it looks to meet standard SD card dimensions. Mine was very thin, but worked fine after re-inserting the card. It makes no sense that it would not read the same card in the same slot after restarting the device.
The only thing really similar between your card and mine is that they are both 52MB high-speed 60X cards.
    http://www.transcendusa.com/Support/DLCenter/Datasheet/GSD60.pdf
I'd like to know if other people have had the same problem with the C00 and high speed SD cards.
Remember this is not a tech support forum. This is a customer forum where we all complain about stuff and it generally stops right about there. Most customer care representati'ves probably don't even know this board exists and those who do know, won't bother to read anything here. Asking if there will be a firmware update here about a bug you found is about as useful as asking if microsoft will release a new patch for IE at a coffee house with some friends.
The great thing about the forums here is that we get to share info that tech support may not have knowledge about and can lend support to your claims when emailing/phoning them that many people are experiencing the same issue as you are.

  • I cannot import sandisk movie files into iMovie any more after years with no problems.

For years I have filmed with my Panasonic HC-X900 and taken the SD card via a usb convertor, plugged it into my macbook pro and iMovie has automatically found the new files - easy to import into iMovie. Now the files are nowhere to be seen even though I can play them back through the camera. Any suggestions?

  • Problem with 5300 and 2 GB memory card

    Hi,
I just bought 5300 phone and 2 gb micro sd card, sandisk.
And I am now storing music files to the card via usb connection and phone is shown to pc as a disk.
It transfers 990 MB of music and after that is says card is full.
From gallery it shows memory card as 2 gb card, and full status is 990 MB, free fine also. I tried transfer also with music manager same result. Like the 1 gb is the limit somehow.
    Is it ?

I also have problems with my new Kingston 2GB micro SD card on Nokia 5300. However quite different. I uploaded appr. 1.5 GB music and it worked fine. Then I switched the phone off. When I tried to switch it on again the screen started to flash and after 15 sec the phone switched off itself. It took for a while till I discovered that the problem somehow relates to the memory card. When it was removed the phone worked fine (no flashing, no switch off). I reformatted the memory card and everything worked fine till the next switch off. Then it started again. I updated the software (V 04.70), but it didn't help. I'm not 100% sure but it seems to me that the problem relates to the music player which tries to update the music library after the switch off and somehow it freezes the phone.
Any idea how to solve this?
    In short because I don't have a 5300 - No ...
However - something to try is to see if your card works without problems on a PC (via USB card reader) or laptop (some have memory card slots built in)
Lastly on Nokia's 5300 webpage it states that they only recommend using authorised cards ... it might be worth seeing if you experience the same issue with Nokia's own 2Gb microSD card ?

  • Class 6 SD card causes problems / lock ups in Droid 2 Global

My Droid 2 Global phone came with an 8GB SD card and I want to increase it to a 16GB card.  I purchased an adata 16GB Class 6 micro SD card.
I copied all my data from my 8GB card to my laptop.  I then copied the data from the laptop to the 16GB card.  Put it in the phone and started the phone.
The phone had difficulty seeing the SD card and locked up.  Removed battery, reinstalled, restarted.  Similar problem.  Tried various apps and calls - worked (poorly) on some tasks, and locked up on others.
Formatted the card in the camera and then used the USB cable to move data from the laptop - similar symptoms.
Formatted the card in the laptop, placed the card in the phone, and used the USB to copy data to the card - same problems.
Stepped up the process by performing a hard reset on the phone, formatting the SD card, reinstalled apps and tested before adding personal data - still locks up.
I reset the phone again and put my original 8GB card in - once apps were reinstalled and data was pulled onto the card and everything works normally.
I really want to use the larger SD card, but I haven't been able to get it functioning..
I even saw a message somewhere that stated the Droid 2 has problems with Class 6 cards but have found nothing supporting that concept.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks, Grandpa777

When I replaced the SD in my D2G card with a 16GB one, I researched several cards and class ratings.  Two things seemed to crop up over and over.  Class ratings as an indication of maximum speed are not the same across manufacturers.  Some Class 2 were faster than Class 4 and class 4 faster than Class 6, etc.  Not all, but it was a crap shoot.  Second, Class 10 cards did not work well in all Droids, nor did some Class 6. So I bought the following:
SanDisk 16 GB microSDHC Flash Memory Card SDSDQ-016G Class 2.
It has worked flawlessly for 8 months.  And seems fast enough for my needs.
My recommendation, for what it's worth: Buy a 16GB SanDisk SD card no higher than Class 4.

  • SanDisk USB 3.0 Card Reader does not work with OSX Mavericks.

Since updating to OSX Mavericks (10.9) My  USB 3.0 SanDisk "ImageMate All-in-One" Card Reader has begun to fail.
It all seems to work proper at first. The memory card shows up in finder and I'm able to browse the files. But when I try to transfer any files it un-mounts from finder and only transfers the first file.
This does not happen under previous OSX versions. I have tried on other computers since, so the card reader is fine.
My USB 2.0 card reader saved my life this time. It works totally fine.

  • X1 Carbon: Sandisk SSD or Toshiba SSD? Good/Poor? LCD Good/Poor?

Initially, may have said that the SSD in X1 Carbons were Sandisk SSDs, and that they performed very poorly on 4K speed tests - which are true when one looks at these reviewers doing 4K tests.   So...that's a bummer.
Then, someone posted a teardown picture of the inside of an X1Carbon, which showed a Toshiba SSD.
Which SSD is the one that will go inside the consumer X1 Carbons rather than the reviewers' early samples?  Confusing.  Whichever one it is, is it any good including its poor 4K performance?   I mean real life performance: any good?
Also, most say the LCD is rather nice on the x1C.   they mostly said that for a 14", the 1600x900 hits an excellent sweetspot.   the Z 2012's 1080 was downright annoying when i tried it out last week because on every single website, one needed to do Control ++++++ to increase the size, otherwise, you'd not be able to read it!!   1080 is too much resolution for a 13.1" LCD on the Z 2012.
Then, the Engadget review just posted today says that one sees space around each pixel on the x1c's LCD!!   they didn't quite like the LCD on the x1C!!!    can that be true?  or is that an early reviewer's sample??    Highly conflicting points of views, right?
i can't believe that the pitch is so poor on the 14" 1600x900.   that just doesn't sound right to me.
any ideas from the good folks on this forum?
    thx in advance.

    What a nightmare!
The technician came over and opened the computer and was not able to put the cable in the correct place. Forced with his tools the cable against the case and damaged the laptop exterior case either in the back and either at monitor level and base level.
Amazing: now not only the cable is still there but I got scratches from tools all over.
I reported it to Lenovo and apparently the technician reported that he replaced the cable and the problem disappeared.
I hope someone fires the guy!
Lenovo told me that they are going to prepare another action plan so now I am curious of what the next guy will do.....
I will avoid to make further comments for now.... let's wait for the scenes in the upcoming chapters.
