Sanity or similar app for BB Q10?

Hello, I am new to this community and don't even have my BB yet [hopefully in a few days] but I am already looking for apps and reading manuals and so on. On my Android device [yes, I am switching  ] I have an app called Sanity which helps me when I turn off my phone to let some people through no matter what. So my son and daughter can always reach me, even if my phone is on quiet mode.
Is there a similar app for the Blackberry that will do that for me, since I looked and looked but couldn't find any.
Please  .

the profile management on the Q10 is not on par with what is available on the Bold 9900, but I think you can do exactly that.
On the Q10, you can choose a profile for your night.
1) On that profile, you can set the ringer for phone calls to be a void ringtone.
2) and in the contacts apps, for your daughter and your son, you can set a specific ringtone.
the impact is that when you use that night profile :
for your son & daughter, the phone will ring with their specific ringtone
for other callers, the phone will technically ring, but with a blank tone.
the impact when you use another profile:
the overriding ringtones will also apply for your son & daughter.
There is just one thing I am not sure of:
it seems that with the current OS, you cannot create a custom profile. You have to use an existing one.
If I had to do what I wrote above, there would be the "normal" profile for daylife
and the "phone only" profile for night life (= only for daughter & son)
and the other profiles are not relevant for your need (vibrate only / silent / all off).
I hope someone who needs such configuration has tried it and can confirm / infirm my post.

  • The Ipod Nano has a radio app, where can I find a similar app for my Ipod touch 4th generation?

I"m looking for an FM radio tuner, like the Radio tuner on the Ipod Nano.

The iPod name has a built-in RM radio receiver. The iPod touches do not. You can get an app that will get many radio stations but that is streamed and you need.a wifi connection to the internet. One app is iHeart Radio
You can Google and see if there are any FM radio receiver still available. They were available in the past. Google for:

  • Automatic (time based) profile switch app for 8520?

I remember using an app called "Best Profiles" on my Nokia E71. It switches between profiles (e.g. Silent to General or Outdoor etc) according to pre-set times. e.g. it would switch to Silent profile (all alerts off) at my bed time (2330 hrs) automatically. And switch back to Normal profile when I get to work (at 0930 hrs).
Does there exist any similar app for BlackBerry Curve 8520 OS 5?

WOW!  Nice find Rob Rocket.  I just went in to use profile manager and was hit with the error.  Followed your directions and back to normal.

  • Plybook App for notes (or more) that has a desktop application

    Hi,
I'm a former Palm user that loved the Palm Desktop application that flawlessly synced between the palm and teh PC desktop. You could update notes/memos/etc on either the PC or the palm and they would sync between the two when you synced the palm with the desktop.  As anyone come across a similar app for the playbook? I've tried several free and purchased a couple that will backup on your pc but none that will allow you to enter new or alter notes from the PC.
    Any suggestions?
    Brian

You cant do sync notes but you need to manually copy the files from playbook to pc and vice versa

Is there an app for the iPad2 that is similar to Android's swype program?

You're right, thanks. Nuance seems to be doing this for a number of apps; Noterize similarly has been removed after being purchased by Nuance. Time will tell where they go with all the technology they've purchased.

    SOLVED!!!!!
    This is the app:

I emailed the maker of the app and he said to just follow these instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4094
File share the .dictionary file to your ipad and then add it from the list of addable languages.  It took a minute for it to show up on my ipad but it DID work.  It is working with iBooks.
    Happy reading.
Thanks for the help and suggestions.

  • Kindle app for Q10

Does anyone know what's up with the Kindle app for Q10? Is there any plan for the existing BB10 app to be made available for the Q10?

There is a version of Kindle over at Good eReader for BlackBerry that you can sideload. If you're not familiar with sideloading it just means to install via USB cable. I use a PC app called DDPB for sideloading but Good eReader has an app for it too.

  • Apps for Q10

I feel so frustrated right now. I have tried to download 3 apps that are available for many other Blackberry devices, including the Z10, but they aren't available for the Q10. What was the point in spending the extra $$ to get brand new technology if commonly used apps are not available?
How does one find out when a specific app will be available for the Q10 - and where can I go to complain about this a little more loudly.
Right now I can't access my work intranet because Citrix isn't supported, I can't work on my benefit claims with Sun Life and, worst of all, I can't play Timeplay when I go to the movies!

Yes, I have already complained to all before I posted here. It's interesting the variety of responses I've gotten:
    Citrix - hasn't responded
SunLife - told me to send my account number and employer because they can't respond to questions about my claim without it (hello? I asked about when the app was coming, nothing about my account or coverage?)
Cineplex Scene sent me 50 scene points to thank me for my patience.
Guess which one I've most impressed with

  • I bought a mic for my ipod touch 2nd gen and the mic works yet when its plugged in the speakers dont work, meaning i cant hear, so skype and other similar apps are un-useable, is there a way in which the mic and speakers will both work together?

I bought a mic for my ipod touch 2nd gen and the mic works yet when its plugged in the speakers dont work, meaning i cant hear, so skype and other similar apps are un-useable, is there a way in which the mic and speakers will both work together?

Looking at the details for this mic, it appears that the app has to have the option to use the internal specak when a mic is plugged into the headphone jack. Specifically:
NOTE: When MityMic is plugged into your iPod/iPhone you won’t be able to use the onboard speaker for sound output. You must remove the MityMic then play back your recordings. (The Skype app has an option to enable the onboard speaker even when the mic is plugged in, so you could use MityMic for placing Skype calls. However most other apps do not have this function.)

Hmmm... I don't know of anything that will make it that easy.  If your concern is not to use your text message allotment, you can use Pinger Textfree.  This will give you a new phone number for that app only.  Give that phone number to your boyfriend and others who text you often.  The texts will be free and not count against your text messaging plan.  Pinger has updated to allow picture messages and voice minutes now.  I have not used the new features yet, however, outside of beta testing.
I will look to see if anyone has found something similar to BBM for the iPhone, because I am curious about this now.
THANK YOU!! i really appreciate your efforts. please keep us updated if you find anything.
Bbm is basically just an instant messenger right? You could both get AIM, gtalk, or any of the other im accounts out there. At work we use AIM (aol's instant messenger). I would think iPhone has an app for any of the instant messengers. The difficult part may be finding one on the bb.
yeah basically it is only available to blackberry users. i should look into gtalk. it isn't something that you have to sign into tho like you would with msn messenger for example.

  • Does Apple have any plans for a similar app as Samsung S Drive?

Does Apple have any plans for a similar app as Samsung S Drive?
Samsung recently released 'S-Drive' - an app for their Samsung Galaxy program which only allows certain features to be used when driving. I much prefer my Apple iPhone, but as my children grow up, this is much safer. Thoughts?

Ah, sorry fellas, and thanks for clarifying that for me.  I thought Apple would also have tech's who monitor / respond in these forums.  My bad.  Cheers though... and let's see what they (might) do.
Is there any way to encourage them / let them know of apps such as this and that it might be a good thing?

  • SayIt App for Q10

Hello!  I was curious if anyone has had the SayIt App on their Q10 or any other model.  If so, would you reccomend?

Have you tried the built-in app "Voice Control"? Works for me to send texts, mails, make calls etc.
The device also comes with a built-in weather app (Accu Weather) which is quite good.

After again experiencing problems I took the iMac back to the reseller where I bought it. They were able to replicate the defect and I received a new logic board. The invoiced cost (covered by warranty, luckily!) was $1,067 for the logic board and $85 for labor. The hard drive was erased but OSX Tiger was pre-installed when I picked up the computer. (BTW, Backup 3 is a very nice backup utility!) Now my iMac seems to be working perfectly, and the energy saver/sleep function works normally again.
