Santarosa MacBook 3,1 Temperature

Hi! this is my first mac and i would know some things about temperature exercise...
yesterday i unmounted all the case of the mac, to clean the fan that in my opinion, would be plenty of dust. BTW it wasn't (my mac have only 2 months of health time). Looking the motherboard, i stayed fascinated and i started to have a look of the heatsink. I removed it, and i cleaned it. IT WAS PLENTY OF DUST, AND THE THERMAL PASTE WAS APPLIED SOOOO BAD. So, using a cotton for the ears, i cleaned it all, the 2 cores and the heatsink. Then i applied a little quantity of Thermaltake Artic Silver 5 paste, i squished it, and i remounted my macbook. Now it works greatly and i have no noise.
my question is about the temperature. have i earned some less degrees using this paste and removing the original one? post here your results of your SANTAROSA MACBOOK 3,1 IN IDLE!!! IDLE PLEASE.
mine are these:
exhaust 1800 rpm
cpu a 40C
heatsink a and b 40C
enclosure bottom 22C

Apple has a standard warranty, and those terms should give you rights that are in addition to your local laws. The important thing is that they specifically state that they aren't responsible for repairing damage **as a result** of damage from unauthorized service/repairs. That doesn't mean that simply going into a machine is enough to void a warranty. You sound like you know what you're doing so I think it would be pretty hard to show that you did something that caused any damage.
I don't know what your native language is, but you can go through Apple's standard computer warranty and see if your native language is here (it's very long):

my macbook has NO external graphic card, just iris graphic.
when i was playing diablo3 or watching movie by using bypass ip address, my cpu temperature was maintained 90~100 celcius degrees.
And at the same time, my cooling fan was maintained 5800~6000 rpm.
There are two questions.
One, is my macbook temperature too high or normal level ?
Two, i know that 6200rpm is maximum speed of cooling fan. Why did fan run 5800~6000rpm, not maximum?

When processor intensive activities are taking place, temperature may reach the maximum level.

'14 -- 13" Macbook Pro Retina Temperature

Hey Guys,
I recently bought a 2014 13" Macbook Pro Retina base model [2.6 GHz i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD] and I am having a temperature issue. When watching videos (Hulu/Youtube) at 480p the computer will reach temperatures of to 80-90 °C. Sometimes it will even reach about 99 °C to the point where I do not feel comfortable to keep playing the video. I am currently updated at the time [10.10.1] of this posting with also using the latest version of Google Chrome.
My brother has an ultrabook (windows) computer. I can't remember the model number of the Acer, but it has an intel 1.6 GHz i5-4200U, 8GB RAM, Raid 0 x2 128GB SSDs @ 2560 by 1600 pixels 13". His ultrabook (with a weaker/slower CPU and 4400 intel graphics [compared to the Iris 5100 in mine]) can handle 20+ tabs and watch a 480p video (Hulu/Youtube with Chrome) without going above 55-60 °C.
It seems with those numbers that my i5 should be able to downclock and keep a lower temperature then his Acer. It feels like the computer is just running too hot, either to a bad cooling system design or most likely due to a poorly applied thermal compound between the heatsink and CPU. I'm not 100% sure if my thoughts are founded true in the community and would love to hear your thoughts on this subject and to what action do I have to take to resolve this issue without opening the laptop up itself.

Google Chrome is a resource hog and has a poor record of compatibility with OSX. Use Firefox, Opera or Safari instead and that will help woth your temperature problem.
the temperatures that you are reporting are not unusual for video on a MBP. If you are nervous about them, use a cooling pad. Note that there are sensors that will shut down the MBP before it commits Hari Kari due to overheating.

MacBook Pro CPU Temperature Issue

My MacBook Pro is becoming excessively hot, even with light usage. Currently, I have Google Chrome, Sublime Text 3, MAMP and Mail open. Google Chrome (36.0.1985.125) is the only app that is capably of heavy CPU (and MAMP, but I'm not developing any intensive scripts at this time), however I only have one or two tabs open. And neither one of them are intensive websites. Usually just PHP docs, and localhost. The average CPU activity is 1.4% System, and 2% User (it sometimes peaks to 2% System, and 5-6% User, but nothing massive).
Right now, the temperatures are averaging at 85C (and yes, that is degrees celsius). It regularly exceeds 90, and sometimes reaches just over 100C or so when just on YouTube or Facebook. I'm not sure if this is maybe related to an inaccuracy in the temperature monitor, but I use this to get the measurements. The MacBook Pro's casing does feel hot, almost painful at times when I touch the aluminium area just beyond the keyboard and below the screen for a few seconds.
The current environmental conditions for the MacBook Pro are:
- flat wooden surface (desk) to sit on
- 18C ambient room temperature
The MacBook Pro is a 15" Early 2013 with an i7 Quad-core, 8GB RAM, 1GB NVIDIA GT 650M (MacBookPro10,1) running OS X Mavericks 10.9.4.
Here's what I'd like to know:
- Is this normal?
- Would if help if I removed the cover and removed any dust (if any)?
- Do I need to take it to a repair shop?

Make an appointment with the Genius Bar at the nearest Apple Store. Have them check your machine. Back up what you want to keep/restore before you go.
You can try another monitor solution that will tell your CPU temp, fan speed, and battery information. It is iStats, a Ruby gem that has been posted a few times in the community. The following image is from a just-powered on 2014 MBA. In the following, if you use Ruby Version Manager, the sudo is unnecessary. It may complain slightly, but does install correctly, as it works fine on my 10.9.4 machine.
$ sudo gem install iStats
$ iStats -h
$ iStats
$ sudo gem update iStats # periodically keep it current

Please, what is the normal temperature of the CPU for Macbook Pro retina?
When only surf the internet (Safari) has a temperature of about 50 ° C. If I open two browsers (Safari, Chrome), Google Drive, powerpoint, mail, word, has a temperature of around 70 ° C. When intensively using Google Maps (quickly we cross between states), sometimes even 80 ° C. It's OK?

All the temperatures you report are within acceptable tolerances for the stated activities,. Personally I would rid the MBP of Google Chrome and its various parts since among browsers it is a resource glutton. I use Firefox, Safari and Opera.

New MacBook Pro wrong Temperature

Hello everyone.
I have one of the new 15" MacBook Pro, and I recently noticed a wrong temperature reading on the GPU diode.
When everything is above 30ºC, the GPU diode is 1ºC or 3ºC, and sometimes I get -128ºC and this is impossible.
I have tried to read the temperatures with iStat Pro and Temperature Monitor using last versions.
Obviousely something is wrong. Or the two applications I am using have same bugs (and the same bug), or I have something wrong with my GPU diode sensor.
I would like some feedback on this. What application Apple recommends to check the temperatures, or should I go to a local Apple store and ask to check if this is an hardware problem?

I believe that is because the GPU is not the active GPU. When that is the case, it does not provide good temp readings. That is how my 2010 MBP acts also. There is nothing wrong.

Late 2013 15 inch Refurb Macbook Pro CPU Temperature

Hi All,
Three days ago, I bought a refurb 15 inch Macbook Pro from apple online store. Since day 1 CPU temperature are extremely high. I have seen my Mac hitting 99 degree Celsius. This temperature was attained while I was just browsing internet on chrome and simultaneously transferring my photos from my external drive to iphoto. Also, just watching videos on youtube kicks the temperature to 75-80 degree Celsius. Idle temperature are somewhere around 45-50 degree Celsius. I don't know if this is normal and if such high temperature affects the life span of my mac. I got it checked at an apple store and their diagnostic test for cooling system found no issues. I don't know if I should return this and just buy a new one. My Mac configuration is-

use safari, its much better than chrome.
Safari uses way less resources than chrome (RAM, CPU power and battery)
if the problem continues, contact apple support

MacBook Pro Gaming Temperatures

So I just was tired of the really hot temperatures of the MacBook Pro. I opened it up to tackle the supposed thermal grease problem. Too no suprise, there was way too much. I reapplyed some of the Artic Silver 5 and it seemed to help my temperatures from what they were. I noticed that the GPU is still running really hot. Even after the application of the AS5, this is the only temperature that didn't seem to change. While running Counter-Strike: Source, my temperatures of the GPU go as high as 87 degrees celcius. Is this normal?

HI Smadam: It may appear to be runniing too hot for the GPU. But under high load conditions, such as game play, it is not out of the ordinary for it to reach those kind of temperatures.

MacBook Pro high temperature...

Hello all:
I recently purchased a MacBook Pro 15 inches and so far it's been working fine. There is only one thing that worries me a little bit which is the high temperature it gets in the left side of the lapto right in the top of the left built-in speaker where the microfone is located.
As you know the laptop has two speakers... the right one gets warm but the left it gets hot.
Would that be considered normal? Is there a way to check system's temperature on this machines? How do I do it?

suggestion to you that next time you post something research the forum before you post. the temperature issue is soemthing everyone is having trouble with if you want a program to monitor your laptops temp you can try temperature monitor. free to download. some have tried resetting the PMU

Macbook Core Duo temperatures

What kind of temperatures do people have on their Macbooks, especially Core Duo -machines? My machine seems to very easily have cpu temperatures around 60 per core and there is this component called main heatsink 1 which runs at 90C ! I have disassembled iBooks and iMacs before and seems like I need to do something with this machine as well, probably reapply thermal grease? Bought the machine used and otherwise it works great, just those temps seem high and fans start to spin pretty easily.

It's not normal. Do you notice if your fans are running properly when the CPU is at 90ºC? If not, reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Another option you have is to download smcFanControl and set up the fan speed you want, but always less or equal than 2500 rpm (this is to prevent fan problems)

MacBook Airport Card Temperature/Speed

Macbook Penryn 2.4 GHz. iStat Pro says 157 F/68 C. Constantly. On the other hand the bottom does not feel that hot at all. Top cover is slightly warm, most of the time I will not even notice. After I disconnect the power adapter and instntly connect it back again, the temp goes down to 130 F/54 C in about 10 sec and gradually in matter of days it will go back up to 155 F and stay there. So I wonder if a) something is wrong with the power inside the MB or b) the sensor is totally messing it up and iStat Pro is reading the wrong info. I don't believe the problem is with the Airport Card. I already replaced 2 MBs on my third one. Still the same thing...AppleCare has no idea why this is happening. I replaced the macboook once. I am not going crazy about that, but I have another MB that I purchased November last year. It is 2.2 GHz and everything elese is exactly the same (i.e. software installed, processes, memory, hdd..). In exactly the same conditions the temp stays at 119F/48C. Additionally the download speed of my new MB (wireless) is at least 2 times slower than my relatively old MB. Tested this on 3 2.4 GHz MBs with the same poor download results. Upload is exactly the same.

Thanks for your input. Just wanted to make sure it is not something out of ordinary. I moved my "old" Santa Rosa 2.2 GHz MB to draft-N and it seems that it runs at much lower temp than Penryn. I have not seen thou the CPU temp to be affected...That's why I am a little bit surprised...My understanding is that there is no Airport Card temp censor and the calculations are hypothetical and NOT precise...

Macbook Pro's temperatures.

I have a 13inch Macbook Pro with an i5 processor and 8gb of ram. Whenever I play minecraft or Rome Total War, my laptop reaches 190 degrees and my fans are at full speed. It also gets really hot. Is this ok? Should I be worried?

your mac has built in sensors that will shut the mac off before it gets too hot to the point where it will cause damage.

MacBook Pro weird temperature readouts

hey guys. i've downloaded coreduotemp as well as temperature monitor and both are reporting my idle temps, as well as my 100% load temps as 32 degrees on both cores. they do not fluctuate at all.
is something wrong with my hardware? i mean my hard disk temperature is higher than my reported cpu temperature!

hey guys anyways the problem fixed itself during my call with an apple tech guy.
basically i put the comp to sleep and then turned it back on and then voila the sensors jumped from 32 degrees to 70.
it's not exactly good, but hey at least it's reporting the correct temps now.
