SAP ACC 7.3 - Start Services

Hi,
We are using SAP ACC 7.3 on NW 7.3 system. As part of i am trying the functionality of Mass Restart or Stop and Start kind of options.
During the Mass Restart it stops dialog servers, CI and database in the order and when it automatically does start it could able to start the database CI kept on trying and finally after 2 hours it is giving up .
Basically when it fails nothing much apart from the error as control failed with error 2.
Is there normally any sort of pre checks to be done at OS level or ACC level to make the start process work ?

Hi Naor,
This Stop/Restart option is itseft act as a "Soft Stop/Restart".
For Hard Stop/Restart, there is another option called "Forced Stop/Restart".

when i want to start services connector saprouter
saprouter string :/H/172.16.2.11/S/3299
a error window say
"connect to sap gateway failed
error partner 'host:3299' not reached"
where is the possible problem here ?

how to test whether port 3299 is on work or not?any ways to check those ports are used for what?

Error while starting services in SAP MMC

Hi Everybody,
I had Installed SAP ECC6 version in my laptop, after installation(not restarted laptop) services are already on, i had installed sap gui, and everything i configured, user id and access key of abap developer.
But when i want to stop or start services in SAP MMC, it prompts me for webservice authentication such as OS USER & Password, when i gave my OS user id and password , error message i got as Stop Failed , Invalid credentials.
Please help me on this...

Consier your laptop as a server which is hosting the sap application
So you need to always use sidadm for any such administration as we basis normally do

Cannot start widget - Ensure that SAP Business One Integration Service and SAP Business One Event Sender Service have been started

Dear Experts .
I'm trying to enable widget for my company db but getting the following error :
Ensure that SAP Business One Integration Service and SAP Business One Event Sender Service have been started; then wait 1 minute and try again
I can connect to the B1iF locally and remotely .
I have the db configured in the SLD and connects successfully .
I have the event sender service and proxy started and configured for the company db.
I can access the Dashboard web portal and login with database sap credentials (but I see nothing there)
I've checked that there are no duplicate entries in the SSLD table for SBO common (note : 1619422)
I've also tried to re-activate the xelcious from the B1iF->control.
My Setup :
I'm runing SBO server, B1iF installed locally and B1iSN installed on a 3rd party server.
I'm using B1iF as even forwarder for B1iSN.
I know this has been discussed many times through out the forum and I've tried most of the stuff other than clean install.
I would appreciate any input before removing B1iF completely and re-installing.

Hi,
The issue here is that the JAVA engine has not ye started completely. Check the status of the SAP instance in SAP MMC. You need to have the SDM, dipatcher, Server0 in green(started completely). If the server0 is in yellow/grey, then u will not be able to launch the portal URL.
Check and post us the dev_server0 log for more information.

I m configuring an external Sap webdispatcher to point to an ICF service
I need to install it on Windows Web server where others web sites are running.
I configured a specific ip for that on the Web servers and enter the DNS name in our domain.
On the the pfl file I define :
SAPLOCALHOSTFULL=<MyFQDN>
icm/host_name_full =<MyFQDN>
and specify icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=80
Each time I m starting it I received *** WARNING: Could not start service 80 for protocol HTTP on host <MyFQDN> .........
If I m using another port (Ex:86)no problem with my FQDN.But if I m doing servername:86 it s working also.
It s seems that the webdispatcher don t care about my FQDN.
How can I have the WEBDISPATCHER pointing to this specific FQDN and not all ?

Hi Damien,
You problem is perfectly logical : It's not possible to have 2 programs (IIS and web dispatcher) listening together on the same 80 HTTP port.
There is no configuration that I know on the web dispatcher to tell him to listen only on one IP address.
Summary : what you want to do is not possible.
I had a similar request and I did the following.
I use a Linux box with an Apache reverse proxy to select to distribute the HTTP requests on different web dispatchers. The rules depends from the called URLs.

I have increased the heap memory size and permissible memory size in dev_server0 file.... but i still get this problem....
Engine automatically starts after an interval of time....

DUET Enterprise extending the Starter Services

Hi,
Is it possible to add additional fields/methods to the starter services such as adding Sales Area data to Customer Service as I notice that they are not in ESR.
How is the best way to extend them?

if you take a look at chapter "8. Other Development Examples u2013 Starter Services" of the [Developers Guide|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/302608bd-840e-2e10-c2ba-8480e0cf5da7?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true] you can see that (some of) the Starter Services have Extension containers that you might be able to "fill" with content you are looking for.

ESS Leave Approval: No authorization to start service

Hello,
User is not able to approve leave requests of sub-ordinates.
When user clicks on Approve or Reject button, nothing happens.
But when I checked in Default trace, I found below error:
You do not have the authorization to start service
sap.com/ess~lea/LeaveRequestApprover.
[EXCEPTION]
I checked portal content permissions for this user and found that those
are ok.
In ECC there is no dump (ST22) related to authorization.
Can you please suggest the solution.

Thanks for replies. But we have created ZMSS role in ECC which is assigned to all managers.
For all other managers the leave approval is working fine. The problem is with only 1 user.
So I dont think there is any issue in ECC authorizations.
Also there is no ABAP dump. Is there any other way like some trace from where we ll come to know about the missing authorization.

Patch 10 i cannot install because i have no login in the marktplace.
2 Problem: Another Problem after installation SAP GUI with SAP Installation Server is that the after reboot PC the user lose all domain rights on the PC. I can resolve the Problem with the Program "gpupdate /force" (domain programm). At the next reboot the user have no domain rights. This problem repeats 3 times.
Both problems are urgent!

SAP ACC on solaris 10 continers

I am nobody when it comes to SAP, so sorry for my ignorance. I deal more with OS particularly UNIX. My company is contemplating to adopt SAP ACC 7.1 on solaris containers. The SAP guys told me that SAP ACC can move one container to another machine without any interruption to the service. Which was contradictory to the steps that Oracle gives in container move. As per Oracle documentation, when moving containers from one sever to another we need to halt it and then move the files. I was perplexed when SAP guy told me that ACC can manage it without any interruption. Anyways, I dont trust most of the application support guys on the face value. While searching for the clues I ended up on the end of the internet called SAP Market Place. Looks like SAP documentation is not for free. Hence I had to come to this forum to ask this question. If you guru's can help me and provide me with some documentation then it will be a great help.

From what I understand SAP ACC sees each of the containers/zones as machines (would be the same if they were VMware VMs ,LPARs,LDOMs,vPAR etc) and it does not use the OS container API (eg zoneadm) to move the zone (ie halt/(snap)detach/export/import) the ACC does it itself, moving the appication componets around a number of resorces machines/zones/vm/etc that have the prerequisite environment installed, it does not move the zone per se - it just sees the zones as Solaris machines really

SSO to SAP EP6 (for Employee Self Service) using WebSEAL

Hi SDN friends,
We are about to embark on a SSO implementation using IBM WebSEAL for SAP EP6 ESS (Employee Self Service) connecting through to an SAP R/3 4.7 server. Since the ESS solution for 4.7 still uses ITS services, this means that we have ITS iViews in the EP6 portal.
We have managed to look through the whitepaper 'IBM Tivoli Access Manager - Single Sign On for SAP NetWeaver - September 2005' described at https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/ibm
We have the following queries, if anybody has a simple answer to these:
- Is it absolutely necessary to configure an SNC connection between ITS/EP6 and R/3 server to achieve SSO for the portal?
- Given that SAP EP6 references ITS IAC iviews, is it necessary for us to configure both ITS and EP6 for SSO, or can we simply configure EP6 for SSO? If so, is it also necessary to configure both for SSL?
- Otherwise, how easy is it to set up SSO in this scenario without SSL (for demo purposes)?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hello John,
regarding your questions:
ad 1) no. SNC is only mandatory if you use X.509-based SSO to R/3. You can also use SAP logon ticket-based SSO from EP to R/3 or usermapping that do both not require SNC.
ad 2) yes, you have to configure both EP and ITS at WebSeal.
ad 3) you can always omit SSL. However for production use, it is recommended.

Acer Laptop stuck at "Setup is Starting Services," can't move on AT ALL!

Hi! I've been having a serious issue with my Acer Aspire (Windows 7) laptop since around 3am last night. Before I go on, please note that I have been searching for solutions before posting this question, and none of what I've found matches my situation and/or
solves the issue.
SHORT VERSION:
Issues:
-"Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows on this computer, restart the installation" error window keeps showing up, forcing me to click OK, and restart (causing same error over and over)
-After the above error, and another attempt to restore, this error shows "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows Installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click OK to restart the computer and then the
installation."
-can't access login screen after continues restarts
-AtBroker.exe and Explorer.exe not running (and probably other important .exe as well?)
-None of the Safe Modes are accessible
What I've done so far:
-begin restore process (not factory default! the process included backing up my files)
-continuous restart and encounter "Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows on this computer, restart the installation."
-F8 to start the "Last known good configuration," just led me back to the current issue.
-F8 to boot in Directory Services Restore Mode, went back to trying to install in Safe Mode, forced me to restart.
-F8 to disable automatic restart (failed and made me restart anyway)
-F8 to "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement"... also failed
NOTHING I've done has made any advancement past the "Setup is starting services."
LONG VERSION
Last night, I was installing a new theme on my laptop (from a 3rd party on deviantart, but I was carefully following instructions to not mess anything up, using theme manager. however it's probably the reason for the issue) and everything was going well.
i had to restart occasionally to make sure the themes worked but on my final restart (after I decided I preferred a previous theme), everything went wrong! After logging in, the screen turned gray (it'd probably be black for others, but mine was gray maybe
due to the theme) and the cursor was there just flickering. And this continued for about 10 minutes before I tried opening task manager but that failed (said the .exe wouldn't start properly) so I shut it down (through ctrl+alt+del) and restarted.
Still same issue, but this time it said that AtBroker.exe and then explorer.exe were unable to run properly, preventing me from even seeing my desktop.
So today when I got home, I ended up going through the Acer eRecovery Management and doing a system restore (but it would keep my files, just restore the settings to how they were when my parents bought the laptop (summer-ish 2011)). It took a while and
it looked promising. Eventually, it took me to the screen with the Windows logo, then to a screen that said "setup is starting services"). And it gave me an error that it couldn't continue installation so it had to restart, so I clicked OK. It happened
again. Clicked OK and repeated that 2 more times until I got fed up. I just want to skip around that installation and try to access my desktop or at least Command Prompt but it won't let me get any further without making me restart (by clicking OK). I also
do not recall any disk when my dad set my laptop up but this was 2 years ago. I can't find one either, so I assumed Windows 7 came with it?
I really don't know what to do! Nor am I really tech savvy when it comes to fixing this kind of computer problem, so if anyone has any solutions, I wouldn't really know a lot of terms that would be important to know when it comes to fixing this issue. Hopefully,
someone can explain what's happening and how I can fix it fairly simply.

It sounds really serious. According to my understanding, you can't start your computer normally.
