SAP - Document Management System
Hi,
I am looking for insights for implementing SAP Document Management System.
DMS can be used to store pictorial depiction of products, product specifications, drawings, instruction sheets for assembling etc.
I would be specifically interested in the following:
(a) Hardware sizing / landscape
(b) SAP DMS installation requirements
(c) DMS configuration template
(d) approach plan at a broad level
(e) integration with material master, sales order, production order etc.
(f) upload and retrieval of documents
If you have worked in any implementation project with SAP DMS, it would be nice if you can share your expertise on the above.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Thanks,

Enquiry of SAP Campus Management System
Dear all
Would like to have first enquiry about SAP Campus Management System, is it suitable for use by Learning Centres (for example some tutorial learning centre or child learning centre), what's the scale of the product and most importantly, initial investment? Thanks
(For the first look I think only suitable to University type Campus?)
DonaldThe SAP Student Lifecycle Management (former name is Campus Management) solution enables institution-wide collaboration across business processes and users, supporting more effective service,increasing efficiencies, and lowering
total cost of ownership. Its global approach brings together experience and best business practices from different educational systems, educational levels, and cultures. By accommodating the diverse aspects of international academic programs an non-academic programs, the software helps institutions to be successful in a globally collaborating world. Its flexibility and scalability supports ongoing transformation,growth,and optimization of business processes.
In other words SAP SLcM can serve different type of 'study' models and cope with their processes/demands. The SAP solution serves the entire Education & Research ecosystem. Below some examples:
- K-12;
- Public Universities;
- Private Universities;
- Medical Schools;
- Business Schools;
- Techning-intensive Universities;
- Etc, etc.
Your question regarding the Initial investments I cannot answer directly. If you send me an e-mail (rob(atsign)sap.com) I can get you in contact with my collegeaus who can help you out.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any other queries.

EWA: error message in CRM check for SAP Solution Manager system
Hello!
In EWA report for SAP Solution Manager system I have seen error message: Many CSA* inbound queues in error status were detected in your system. As a result of this BDocs have not been delivered. And then table
Queue Name Status Date of first entry Entries
CSABUPA0000000070 READY 03.12.2007 45
CSABUPA0000000934 READY 07.05.2008 45
CSAIBASE0000000000 READY 23.11.2007 36
CSA_ORDER_8000000000 READY 22.11.2007 5
CSA_ORDER_8000000001 READY 22.11.2007 3
and others.
I looked transaction smq2. There are 11300 queues in it. Is it actual error or it is a normal situation? And that must I do, to remove an error?
Edited by: Mariya Kurbatova on Jul 2, 2009 6:27 AMHi,
Usually problems with hanaging CSA* queues are caused because too many
indiviaual queues are created for the qRFC resources to handle. You can
limit the number of queues as described in note 763680.
Note 763680 would be useful if all of your qRFC resourcesa are in use
when you have a great number of queues. With a large number of dialog
WPs on the system it would probably make sense to reduce the amount
as described in the note.
the casue when you have this problem would be to check SMQR -> GOTO ->
qRFC resources. You can also see if most of your dailog WPs are in use
in SM50.
Also refer to note 758677.
Please schedule report RSQIWKEX (Inbound) to run as described in the
note.
And since your title has mentioned that the EWA is on your CRM satellite system; this maybe a further good reference too
When you replicate lots of data from CRM to R/3, there could be a qRFC
resource problem. In this case, the numebr of queues created can be
reduced by implementing the attached note 356228, particularly solution
2.
For CSA* queues is slightly different from the one decribed in note;
this is because the CSA queues exchange data within the CRM system.
The steps described should be followed, except that table SMOFQFIND
must be used instead of CRMQNAMES. In this table, fields TR_SNAEMS and
SEGM_FLD are equivalent to the CRMQNAMES fieds BAPISTRUCT and BAPIFLD
respectively. It should be possible to follow the solution 2 in the
note as long as you use SMOFQFIND instead of CRMQNAMES.
Hope this helps
Cheers,

Configuring change pointer in SAP DEPOSIT MANAGEMENT system
Hi,
I am working on SAP Deposit Management system, which is very much similar to a normal R/3 system.
I need to create a change pointer everytime a business partner is created or changed. Can you please guide me through the steps especially
1. what would be the message type i need to configure and activate in BD50
2. What is the object name and Table name that i should select in BD52
And also if there is anything else I need to be doing?
Cheers,
Babs. Hi Babs
Here are my suggesstions.
1. There are different message types available for business partner, seems it depends on what data you want make synchronous. Try with BUS1006, search for BUPA* for message types.
2. Here you can try for the above message type with object type BUPA_BUP and table as BUT000
Cheers

SAP Labor Management System Who is using it?
Dear SAP Gurus:
Does anyone knows of a company or is familiar with SAP Labor Management System? Any information is good such as: Main Challanges when implementing it, how solid is SAP LM compared to others Best of Breed applications, requirements, etc.
Any help, comments, contacts, etc. will be greately appreciated.
Thank You
Mario LozanoMadMacs0 suggested "lsof -i" ... clever idea, thanks.
Unfortunately, it doesn't show the culprit ...which likely means it's a process that starts up, broadcasts,
and then terminates --- quickly. So, Ive got lsof -i in a loop now, hoping to catch the once-every-30-seconds
broadcast.
The problem with this approach is that the "lsof -i"takes about 2.6 seconds to run ... so I suspect that
leaves a fairly large timing hole.
Also, lsof lists ports by name where it knows the name ... leaving the question begging: does it know
the name of 17500 (dropbox?), and if so...what does it think the name is? (I.e., if it thinks it's "fred",
I wouldn't be looking for that so I'd miss it.)
Later edit: IANA says 17500 is db-lsp-disc, so I'm checking for that as well as17500.

What 'Digital Asset Management' system do you use?
I'm researching Digital Asset Management systems that I can use to create a elegant online image and graphic download centres, branded for individual clients.
Has anyone found or created their own solution in this field? I would be interested to hear of your experiences and view online examples if available.
SteveSteve,
There are literally hundreds of Digital Asset Management systems out there as numerous vendors from a wide range of backgrounds (software vendors, printers, design agencies, video producers etc) all think they have some insight that makes them uniquely qualified for this field. This makes it a bit tricky to recommend a specific option as a lot depends on what kind of asset you're needing to manage. You need to do an assessment of:
What kinds of assets you're most interested in
How many there are (i.e. the scale of the library)
Is it single or multi-users, do you have external suppliers who may need access
If you have IT skills in-house to install and maintain the system
If so, what technologies you prefer, if not to what extent you are comfortable with external hosting and someone else holding the assets
What you want to do with the assets: download, manipulate, integrate etc.
Who will catalogue the assets and what kind of tagging/metadata etc. you want to apply
How the assets will get on/off the system and who decides whether they should or should not
With that information, it's easier to narrow down the list of potential candidates, but you will still have quite a few other decisions to make to isolate the right product for your needs.
If you're interested in information about Digital Asset Management, check our our site: http://www.daydream.co.uk for some reports and articles that are relatively spin-free (disclaimer: we're consultants so we can't claim total impartiality). We're also the original developers of an open source .NET based DAM: FocusOPEN Digital Asset Manager. If .NET doesn't appeal then http://www.opensourcedigitalassetmanagement.org seems to have a good run down of the major options that don't cost anything to get going.
Good luck
