SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure Device Controller Interface

Hi,
Could you please explain the use of SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure Device Controller Interface?
Thanks & Regards
Sara

Hi Sara,
SAP Device Controller Interface is the interface that will be used by device controller softwares to send data to SAP AII and vice versa. Device controllers filter the RFID reads and send a unique read event to SAP AII. SAP AII on receiving this message processes it. It can be the case that as part of processing we also require to send data back to devices/controller or send a command such as tag commissioning. At this time also the same interface is used.

  • Prime Infrastructure Device and Interface Health Collection Settings

    Hello,
i am evaluating Prime Infrastructure 1.2, so far i have added two devices. A router 2911 and an Catalyst 3560x, but for both devices i don't get any graphs for memory, cpu or interface utilization.
I tried to enable Administration > System Settings > Monitoring Settings Auto Monitoring but the changes are not saved even i nice status message on the bottom right corner.
after a refresh it's like before.
I have an NCS as well and there i have in the background tasks Switch CPU and Memory Poll as well as Switch Interface Utilization Poll. In the Prime Infrastructure i don't have them at all. According to the Configuration Guide there should be a CAT Switch CPU and Memory Poll and a CAT Switch Interface Poll Task, but there is nothing.
    Here the Screenshot from NCS
    and here from Prime Infrastructure

    Alex, Suwa
You can still monitor interfaces with the following workaround (which works for me):
    Under Design > Monitoring Configuration:
From the tree on the left, expand Features > Interface Health
If needed, select the interface parameters to poll and the polling intervals, provide a name to your template and then click "Save as new template"
    Under Deploy > Monitoring Deployment:
Locate your template and click the green "Deploy" button
Select which devices you want to poll, or just select a group like "Routers", Switches etc.
That should do the trick and information should show up after few minutes.
    Hope it helps,
    Tomer
BTW- you can also perform the same for device health, by using "Device Health" Metrics template under "Design".

  • SAP AII (Auto ID Infrastructure) - Licence.

    Hello ,
We are on ECC 6.0. We want to install SAP AII(Auto ID Infrastructure).Does SAP AII is a component content in ECC 6.0 Licence agreement or should we go for separate licence for SAP AII.
    Any Advice.
    Thanks
    Mahendra

Hi Mahendra, SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure is not part of SAP ECC 6.0 installations. Please contact your (partner) account manager to license it separately. Regards, Petra

  • Device controller - Is it necessary for a lab test?

    Hi all,
Newbie here, nice to finally see an RFID with some actual SAP content and real life experiments
Anyway, we are about to start to test the AII with R/3 and we have purchased all the hardware (fixed and mobile readers).  I was wondering whether it was to bypass the device controller and "plug" our readers directly into AII?  I know that it wouldn't be realistic in a real life environment, but right now we are more interested in just making the thing work without spending too much $$$
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hello Steve!
    > Our current goal is more to test the R/3 -
    > AII integration than to do technical tests on the
    > RFID side.
You can't integrate AII with R/3 without using a XI between. Except you are going to do some programming in AII.
    > A couple of extra questions:
    > - Johannes, you mention that SAP offers a JAVA device
    > controller as a reference.  Any idea where I may find
    > that?
You wrote, that you are using Intermec devices. Ask the Intermec support for the device controller for SAP AII. They have one.
    > - What is the ball park price for a device
    > controller?
A device controller is hardware specific. So, your hardware vendor should provide you with the necessary software. If not, you have to use some generic solution, which is normally much more expensive.
If you consider to program something by our own, take a look at the HTTP and XML capabilities of Microsofts .NET compact framework. It runs on Pocket PC 2002 and higher.
Communicating with AII is the easy part. You just need to be able to send XML messages, formatted using the PML specification publicly available from EPCglobal, and a HTTP library to transport the messages to AII.
Communicating with the RFID devices is the much more difficult part of it. You need to know how the data is organized on your RFID tag (EPC data tag formatting is standardized by EPCglobal), you need a OS specific driver for your reader interface (Intermec IP3 on WinCE/PocketPC) and you need a LAN/WLAN connection to AII.
Once you are able to read your tags, you will face a lot of troubles with reading errors, multiple readings and so on. Your DC software have to handle that.
You will find more on the DC stuff here: http://www.radioactivehq.org/ and here: http://www.i-konect.com/singularity/

    Johannes

  • What is SAP AOTO-ID Infrastructure?

    hi to all,
im new to RFID , i wld like to know abt wat is SAP-AUTO-ID Infrastruture?
fine ans will be appriciated .
    with regards rajesh.

    HI rajesh,
SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure (SAP AII) gives enterprises the capabilities they need to integrate all automated communication and sensing devices u2013 including radio frequency identification (RFID) readers and printers, Bluetooth devices, embedded systems, and bar-code devices. SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure also integrates intelligent controls such as programmable language controls and Savant technologies, ensuring comprehensive device integration. SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure senses and controls automated signals in real-time.
It connects directly with business processes requiring signal data to drive faster and better business decisions. One of the first applications of SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure is the integration of RFID technology with supply chain processes.
Also Check this out...It might be good for a basic understanding

  • Is XI compulsory for Auto ID Infrastructure?

Is XI compulsory for Auto ID Infrastructure?
    Thank You
    Rucha Atre

XI is a middleware from SAP that is needed to connect to other SAP systems like SAP R/3 or non SAP systems.
Now for SAP Auto ID Infrastructure scenarios where integartion is to happen to the SAP R/3, the config guides by SAP has taken XI as the middleware.
However, XI is not at all compulsory to integrate to R/3. Any other middleware that can map from AII to R/3 or other systems can be used with AII.
But if you are looking to configure the standard flexible delivery scenario from AII then its better to work with XI as SAP clearly details the steps needed to configure the solution in their configuration guides.

  • Software needed for the USB device, "USB Interface Controller TEST2.0"

My mother recently acquired a digital camera. She acquired it from a second-hand store, which did not include an interface cable or software. The manual (and the USB port on the camera) indicates that a male-male USB cable is necessary for photos to be copied to the hard drive.
I was not successful in locating such a cable at any local electronics store (I assume such a cable is now out-of-date). I purchased one from a seller on eBay. The brand is "e circuit electronics".
Upon powering up the camera with the cable connected to it and the computer, the following message appeared:
"Software needed for the USB device "USB Interface Controller TEST2.0" is not available. Would you like to look for the software on the Internet?"
I clicked "Yes". After an approximate two-minute wait, another message appeared stating:
"Software Update is not able to connect to the Internet. Please check your configuration and try again."
I deleted, "Software Update Preferences" in the Preferences folder inside the System Folder, without solving the problem. How do I solve the issue of allowing Software Update to connect to the Internet?

Thank you for your continued assistance, BDAqua. Unfortunately, the driver you linked to does not seem to be compatible with the camera. It is a driver for the V20 model, whereas my model would correspond to be a V2755, as referenced from a list of other Vivicam models when during a search at the Open Drivers web site.
From the system requirement about the card reader you gave me, it will not work, as this system is running 9.1. I am hesistant to upgrade this computer to 9.2, as I have experienced system unstability with that version, with even the 9.2.2 update applied.
In the mean time, I have e-mailed Vivitar regarding this issue, but have as of yet received a reply.
I am not certain as to other specifics to give you, in order to solve the Software Update problem. Please elaborate.
Yes eww, the computer in question is able to fully connect to the Internet for all that I need. I am fully aware of the difference between a computer connecting to the Internet, and a computer connecting to a digital camera. I have 15 years of Macintosh experience.

  • SAP AII (Auto-ID Infrastructure) to  BizTalk RFID  scenario

    Hi Everyone,
did some one work on this type of project ....
This project is <b>to develop a connector between SAP AII (Auto-ID Infrastructure) and BizTalk RFID for handling RFID related activities.</b>
    Quick response would be appreaciated.....
    Cheers,
    Raghavesh

    Hi Raghavesh,
If you want to use a Connector to communicate between Biztalk and SAP AII..you can use .Net connector available.
The other way is SAP AII uses XI for Communication...so you can use webservices between Biztalk and XI. The below document should be helpful
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/7521a237-0701-0010-499b-b3285b789c0d
Use SOAP adapter for  BIZTALK .
Use  plainHttp adapter for XI .

  • HP Compaq dc7700p INTEL HOST EMBEDDED CONTROLLER INTERFACE (HECI) DRIVER

    Hi.
I jusy took a HP Compaq dc7700p Small Form Factor. I just realised that there is no Intel Host Embedded Controller Interface (Heci) Driver. I use Windoes 7 32 bit. Why there is no driver for this computer with this System? I need help I really need to do a Wireless Connection please. And the sp34743.exe it's not helping at all.
    Caprice77

    Hi:
Unfortunately I do not know how to activate the AMT hardware.
I doubt that has anything to do with the wireless not working.
In the device manager, is there a device listed under an Other Devices category labeled as a Network Controller?
If there is, that is the wireless card that needs a driver.
If there is no Network Controller device listed, then your PC does not have a wireless card.  That was a rare option on an HP business desktop.
If there is a Network Controller device listed, please do the following...
Go to the device manager and click on that Network Controller device needing drivers.
Then click on the Details tab.  Now you see a Property drop down list and it is defaulted to Device Description.
Drop down on that and select the second item on the list (Hardware ID's).
Post the top string of characters you see there.
