Software components combine components (DCs) to larger units for delivery and deployment.
u2022 Every top-level component must be assigned to exactly one software component.
u2022 Child components always belong to the same software component as their parent.
u2022 The assignment of DCs to software components is not static and may change over time.
u2022 Software components cannot be nested into each other.
Software components have globally unique names, which are structured according to the rules for DC names. You must define the name when you create the software component; the name cannot be changed later. Names of software components usually consist of a vendor ID and only one segment, such as sap.com/crm.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/01ea90ab24235de10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm
You can create this in SLD>Software Catalog>new Software component and create the SWC with the new version.
As you know, the SWC acts as place holder for all your design objects. In simple terms, the newer version will be an enhancement to your older released version with added functionality.
Also refer to the following links on help.sap.com for more detailed explanation and look for the compatibility changes when developing a new software component version.

  • Automotive  - SAP business process certificate

    Hi everyone,
I am a newbie to SAP and i am interested in BPM. I have a strong background in business analysis and project management but with little SAP implementation project experience.
I am interested in the Automotive Industry to obtain the new SAP business process expert certification.
Can anyone point me in the right direction in relation to the following?
Automotive (CKD or OEM) SAP solutions/modules
business process modelling tools in relation to SAP
advice on how to break into the BPM career from an SAP perspective.
    Thanks
    Nader Hanafy

    Hi Hanafy,
Giving a pointwise reply to ur queries. Hope this helps.
Automotive (CKD or OEM) SAP solutions/modules- Please visit the link https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/bpx/automotive. Ithink it will bea good starting point.
business process modelling tools in relation to SAP- There are many modelling tools available but I would recommend ARIS which is mostly widely used. Please visit  www.ids-scheer.com
advice on how to break into the BPM career from an SAP perspective. BPM is a very niceh area in conjuction to SAP projects. I hope u are aware of SAP  implemenattion phases. BPM is emerging as a must do step before business blueprinting which is the core of any implementation. ARIS can be well integrated with SAP solution Manager and SAP is promoting this in a very big way. there are sucess stories for these which I can share with you.

Yes it is very much easy to switch.. You can start learning SAP VMS & then move on to learn SAP DBM Vehicle sales process.
VMS: Typically used in a distributor / OEM to sale & procure vehicles.

  • Cost of sales accounting in sap classical GL.

    Hi Expert,
we are facing problem to know the Material Cost against Sales i.e Revenue for Particular Product. kindly help through which module we will configure so that customer will come to know, while producing the finished goods this much of material Cost, Manpower , Energy as so on occurred till finished goods. Client Manufacturing Automotive Spare Parts for Domestic  customer as well foreign. Total 25 Products manufacturing , purchase Raw Material then produced finished goods.
Kindly let me know which Module we will start to config.
Note : we are working on  ECC 6  but still NEW GL not activated and Document splitting. we want in existing GL i.e Classic GL.
    Urgent Requirement.
Yr immediate response will be highly appreciated.
    Kind regards
    Pranav Kr. Gupta
    SAP FICO Consultant

    Hi Pranav
Your requirement can be met by product costing and copa
Standard cost estimate split can be transferred to copa during billing. Your std cost estimate will comprise of raw material, labor, overhead etc. When you release bulling from vf01, system will update cost split also along with revenue
However, this split will be based on std cost. Variances are updated to copa during month end when you settle the prod order... if you want the split in copa based on actual cost, you need material ledger activated
To fetch std cost split in copa, you need
    1. Costing key in ke40
    2. Val strategy in ke4u
    3. Val field mapping to cost components in ke4r
    4. Costing key assignment in ke4j or kepc
This is addressed many times in the forum. You can check for the above steps in scn

  • Send changes of Artical master data from sap to nonsap (idoc outbound prog)

    Hi Experts,
    I am  new to interfaces
I have one requirement in Idocs, i.e the changes of artical master data is send to sap to nonsap system through idoc.
idoc type is ARTMAS05, msg typ is ARTMAS.
I am giving some information for my object.
For article (MATNR) by site (WERKS plant)
         If MRP Type (MARC-DISMM) = u201CX0u201D
              Then if changes to fields:
              MARC-KZAUS     Discontinuation ind.
              MARC-AUSDT     Effective date out
              MARC-NFMAT     Follow-up article
Then send idoc type ARTMAS05 with the following data
    segment E1BPE1MATHEAD
         MATERIAL
    segment E1BPE1MARCRT
    MATERIAL             PLANT                     DISCONTINU
    EFF_O_DAY            FOLLOW_UP
    Systems Referred to:
The planning system for our client is nonsap system. This software requires to be informed of relevant changes on articles in order to start its planning runs. When an article is superseded by another we have to send the replacement article (if any) as well as the discontinuation date.
    Dependencies/Prerequisites :
Change pointers for Article master active
         Change pointers active for fields:
         MARC-KZAUS      Discontinuation indicator
         MARC-AUSDT     Effective date out
         MARC-NFMAT     Follow-up article
Idoc ARTMAS05 required with reduction in order to only send relevant fields
Filter to only send idocs for materials in the u201CAutomotiveu201D type where MARC-DISMM = u201CX0u201D.
So this is my requirement, please send some sample code or idea how to complete object.
    with regards,
    gs reddy.

    Hi,
All the details mentioned seems to be correct.
just change one "automotive" material and check change documents are getting generated.
i hope partner profiles are already in place.
once change docuements are inpalce check RBDMIDOC program is scheduled in back ground or you can manually execute the program for testing.
    and check the IDoc generated.
do you  want supress some segements?
di your NOn-sap ssytem can accept Idoc?

  • [SAP XI] EDI orders posting job to SAP R/3

    Hi everyone!
I would like to know if SAP XI has the capability to directly post EDI orders in SAP R/3 wherein IDocs are placed. If yes, how? (Please describe the process in detail)
In normal EDI implementation (AI, 3rd party translator used), batchjobs are created to be able to post EDI orders. The AI/3rd party translator are sending the IDocs after conversion from customer format order file to the specified UNIX directory in SAP and batchjobs will post these as EDI orders that can be viewed in WE02/WE05.
In SAP XI direct connection case, all IDocs received are automatically posted in SAP R/3 without having a batchjob executing this. However, orders are not successfully posted as there is an authorization issue** (user/system/technology posting EDI orders are not allowed to create an EDI order) so we need to determine which user/system/technology are executing the job (posting of IDocs to an EDI order).
Please advise. Thank you very much!
    Fred

    Hi,
U can do the send EDI data into SAP using third party tool or adapter(Seeburger) or by using the conversion agant.
U need to have the XSD for the EDI structure and EDI data should be flat file.
Check some links on Conversionagant and Seeburger.

  • Best Practice for Automotive

    Dear All:
Who has the package of best practice for Automotive? Specially for product traceability and external procurement! Please share with me, thanks in advance.
    Good day
    Tao

    Hi,
I only find the best practice for automotive external process, you can refer to the following address:

But not find it for product traceability, hope it's useful to you!

  • SAP best practice on scheduling agreements

    Hello all,
Our client is an automotive supplier and currently in the SAP environment we use spot POs for indirect purchasing (thru SRM) and scheduling agreement for direct procurement. The scheduling agreements have multiple lines and we try to process as much invoices as ERS as possible.
Currently some of the business units are proposing to have single line items in the SA rather than the multiple ones. The reason being huge no of SA lines being faxed and also supposing it to be a SAP suggested best practice to have ONLY one line item per SA.
I am not sure of any such best practice. Could you please help me with an single Vs multi line scheduling agreements pros and cons. Also what is the best practice that are seen in the automotive sector or being suggested by SAP.
Any SAP official documentation in the public domain will also help.
    Thanks

As per my experience, we have used both the ways, both have its pro's and cons.
In one instance we may feel that it is easy to handle one line per one SA and in that way we will create many SA's and in ither instance we may fell having one SA for multiple lines.
SAP does not give any best approach...or else SAP woul dhave provided the option for only one line.
As per my experience the Structuring of a SA should be based on the way you procure from the supplier  / Vendor.
We have one supplier who supplies 800+ materials, we can create one SA with 800 lines... But we have created multiple SA's based on the product category whcih is a bit easy to identify whcoih material goes into which SA and the Vendor is also happy as he knows that for one product there is a specific SA.
Hope this helps you in resolving your issue.,

  • How is Process planning, Line balancing supported in SAP

    Hi
From Automotive and CG Industry background, can SAP PLM/SCM do the following
-- Based on EBOM, create Operations with time, to consume each part number from EBOM on shop floor. Also calculate Average time (frequency) based on Variants/Options for car/phone BOM
-- For each operation, assign necessary resources (tools, part bins)
-- Analyse based on precedence constraints (Operations, Part bin, Station dimensions) to create Line Balancing result... Also does SAP take in to account Production Program (historical data for designing new manufacturing line as out put result for balancing)
-- Exchange these results with Shop floor Work instruction documentation or exchange with MES shop application
I have read some marketing pdf files on IPPE from SAP ...but Does SAP PLM is a tool for Process and Resource Planning, before going in to actual ramp-up and production?
    Thanks for your insights

    Hello,
    Good Morning!
I write you in brief about how I did the things,
Initially I have created class(Class Name: PD_CL) of Class type 300.
Then in the Product Designer Sreen (T. Code:PDN), I got one window for creating iPPE object wherein I entered following fields:
    Application : Product Structure
Choose Type: PVS ( Product Variant Structure)
    Type: Access Node
    Node: Node_00
    Class : PD_CL
Class type: Variant then press Create.
Then in the Product Desiger: Change screen.
I entered description,  Name of Acees variant and tried to save.
The moment when I save it, System gives an Error message : Access Node Node_00 requires reference to Class.
I tried what you said in the reply but still I am not able to resolve this issue.
Is there any IMG setting that will solve this problem?
    Kindly help.
Thanks a lot for ur previous reply.

  • Future with SAP

    Hi,
I am exploring the option to build my carrier in SAP analyst/consultant field. I have more than 5 years of experience of sales and business management in automotive industry.
At the same time I have worked on or used SAP as a business user for these 5 years.
I am quiet conversant with the business process, material movement, orders/approval flows etc.
I have the desire and will but I am looking for some answers to convenience myself that it will be a good decision to move in this direction financially and in terms of career growth also. It would be a big help if you could answer the questions below, before I make my final decision. I would request you SAP Gurus to please guide me.
Some of the agencies (AtoS and some others) I have got in touch with to discuss this certification have suggested doing SAP SD or MM certification, keeping my experience in view. If I do it what is your guess how soon I could find a job with this certification.
What kind of salary will I be able to attract if I do get a job. Currently I am getting good salary by auto industry standards (around $15K). As per the information I have got the starting salaries in these roles are some times less than half of what I am getting now.
Finally how fast is the growth in this industry? Let us say I do the certification spend some $500 and join a company with salary less than half of my current. After doing this, as per your experience how soon will I be able to reach or exceed the salary I would have been getting otherwise (assume I perform fairly well in my SAP role ;-).
So finally should I go ahead with the certification?
Rather than an instinctive one, I want to make a well thought over, planned and fairly well estimated decision. I am looking forward to your valuable answers.
    Thanks

    Hello Kiran,
One more thing you will work ERP concept so definatlly your future will bright and as you said that you have bold in technical exp then switch in Technical part after 1 year then you will Techno-Function consultant.

I am trying to reply all the bullets in your post one by one.
Some of the agencies (AtoS and some others) I have got in touch with to discuss this certification have suggested doing SAP SD or MM certification, keeping my experience in view. If I do it what is your guess how soon I could find a job with this certification.
for training and certification you can go to any SAP authorized institute , you can find many depends upon which country you are presently staying.
What kind of salary will I be able to attract if I do get a job. Currently I am getting good salary by auto industry standards (around $15K). As per the information I have got the starting salaries in these roles are some times less than half of what I am getting now.
if you are already at $15K  (1,50,000 US Dollar if i correctly understand)  then you are earning much higer then a SAP consultant having a decade experience in SAP. Better look for management job. If salary is the criteria.
Finally how fast is the growth in this industry? Let us say I do the certification spend some $500 and join a company with salary less than half of my current. After doing this, as per your experience how soon will I be able to reach or exceed the salary I would have been getting otherwise (assume I perform fairly well in my SAP role ;-).
    refer the above one
So finally should I go ahead with the certification?
Certification is optional , if you just have user level experience you may not be knowing all what comes within an module, i still recommend training as it give you all back ground about SAP and you can understand most of the master data piece to create a right foundation for a module.
    Hope this will help you.
    Thanks
    Ritesh
