SAP B1 2007A in a cluster.
Good <timeofday>,
I am setting up a cluster to have high availability for my B1 install, well at least a failover.
Funny enough, my server doesn't support hardware virtualization so it's not an option at this time, however I do have access to Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 both enterprise editions and the decision to go with Microsoft's failover cluster has been made.
The issue is the server tools, I'm trying to set them up as generic application into the SQL portion of the cluster, unfortunately the service manager keeps picking up the Node's server name rather than the SQL server name and will not connect, I cannot perform my updates of SAP and likely will have problems with any services run by the manager, DI, Backup, Mailer and so on.
Is there a way to tell the service what the server name is? Force the proper connection thru either a configuration file or registry entry. The microsoft clustering software allows me to setup a virtual registry for the applications for that purpose.
Anyone else tried this type of configuration? Any white paper, how to on the subject?
Any other solution to have a fail over SAP B1 server?
Thanks,
After many hours of inquiring, searching and digging... There is an obscur SAP Note that says clearly, NOT SUPPORTED.
Best thing I could do, was to keep a server with the same configuration ready to connect to my SAN and take over from the dead server.

Data missing while running a crystal report from SAP B1 2007A
Dear All,
I am facing an issue that is if i run a report from SAP B1 using Crystal reports AddOn, it misses out some data.
Few Initial pages and a last page appears in the report. But when i run the same report using Crystal reports Designer it shows the actual number of pages. I have tested the above discussed issue on the server & workstation machines.Dear All,
I would like to explain the above posted problem in detail. I need your generous help, I am facing an issue that is for Crystal Reports which are based on 'Financial Templates' data is missing out. For Example, If i run the report using 'Crystal Reports Designer' it is showing the whole Financial Template based on 5 pages, but if I try to run it from 'SAP Business One'
using 'Crystal Reports AddOn' it is missing out the data e.g. it is showing Page 1 and then Page 4 & 5.
Page No. 2 & 3 is missed out. For your information it was running fine from the past two months now I am
facing issues in running it. Rest of the reports are running fine.
I have tried reinstalling the Crystal Reports Runtime and Crystal Reports AddOn for SAP B1 on
Client machines, but the problem is not resolved yet.

Pick List Will Not Print On Add with SAP B1 2007A
There appears to be a bug with printing pick lists on Add with SAP B1 2007A. I have replicated the problem with PL03, 06 and 08.
Pick lists will print manually, but if you have them setup to print on add (Administration->System Initialization->Print Preferences), the following error in the log will appear:
Error Default report not found for current report type; set a default report and try again C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One\SAP Business One.exe PID=6104 TID=1672
I ran a SQL trace and found the problem. The default Pick List report is set and set correctly in tables RTYP and RDOC. The problem is that SAP is looking for a RTYP.CODE value of PKL1 (instead of RLR2). PKL1 does not exist as a code in either 2005 or 2007. The Pick List document ID is RLR20001.
To confirm this on my demo database, I updated RTYP and set the CODE of RLR2 to PKL1. Afterwards, when adding a Pick List, it printed without any errors. I suppose another temporary fix would be to add a new record to the RTYP tabe with a CODE of PKL1 and the default pick list report document ID.After many hours of inquiring, searching and digging... There is an obscur SAP Note that says clearly, NOT SUPPORTED.

Multiple SAP Systems In One MSCS Cluster
We have installed a NW 7.0 EHP abap stack in a MSCS Cluster with 2 nodes.
This was installed as a standard Cluster Install.
We have now higlighted a requirement to install a 2nd (Java ) instance in this Cluster Group.
The NW 7.0 EHP1 documentation and Note 1321854 shows that multiple SAP systems in one MSCS cluster is supported.
The documentation, however, is not clear if the 2nd instance can be installed when the 1st instance was installed without the preperations for Multiple Systems.
There are no further documentation or guidelines to help.
Has anyone come across this situation or managed to install 2 SAP instances in one Cluster Group based on Windows 2003, SQL Server 2005.
RegardsI am not quite sure if I understood your problem completley. But let's see...
Usually you use on on MSCS Cluster Group per SAP instance. So you have your already existing NW 7.0 ABAP stack in a separated Cluster Group, and you create a new Cluster Group for your new Java system.
You can find more information about it in this guide here on SDN:
Link: [High Availability;
More information about High Availability Setups for SAP System can be found here on SDN:
Link: [High Availability]
If you want to use the same database for your clustered ABAP stack and your new Java stack you can do a MCOD installation.
Please see Link: [SAP Note 388866 - Multiple Components on One Database - Installation|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/388866]
Hope this helps.

Number of lines in SAP B1 2007A
Hi all.
We have a client that use SAP B1 2007A on a SQL server 2005. The sometimes make very big sales quotations which exists of maybe 3000 rows. To my understanding, there is documentation saying there is no limitations on amount of rows it only affects performance. What would be the acceptable performance (measured in time) when adding line number 3001 on a sales quotation?
For our install, we wait maybe 20 seconds for adding the item and then we wait maybe 1 minute when updating the sales quotation. We are running on a machine with 4 processors and 4GB RAM.
Does anyone have some other experiences on this field?
Best regards, Runar Wigestrand.Hi Runar,
A 3000 line quote is too much for B1 to handle. The scenario you mentioned if not the worst in that amount of data. Although it is no limitations on amount of rows, the performance is the LIMIT.
Even if your client upgrade their hardware to double the performance, it will still be painful.
Better if they can change their current business process. I think the number of line can be trimmed if they set up item correctly.
Thanks,
Gordon -

Are you having problems during installation or during the download of the package?
It happens from time to time that the connection brokes in the middle of the download and you have to relaunch it from the beginning.

Link Payment To Invoice in SAP B1 2007A
Hi All,
I have a case like this :
Customer A have deposit $1000 without any sales order.
In SBO we entry that transaction as Incoming Payments from Customer A with Payment On Account $1000.
Then
After one month, customer A want to buy items from our company $400
we enter that transaction as Sales Order, Delivery Order and AR Invoice to Customer A $400.
If we want to link the Payments $1000 and the AR Invoice $400, so the outstanding deposit is $600.
The Question is : In SAP B1 2007a, how to entry the transaction?.If we entry it as reconciliation, we need to entry adjustment jurnal to balance $1000 and $400.
In SAP B1 2005. there is Link Payments to Invoice Menu, so we can link the payment on account to Invoice. But in SAP B1 2007a I can't found it.
Anybody know how to resolve the case in SAP B1 2007?Hi,
The internal reconciliation feature in B1 2007A can't do what Ratna want.
Try to test this example:
- Customer transfers 10,000 USD for pay their invoices in the future.
Cashier will use incoming payment --> tick payment on account and input 10,000 USD. then she uses bank transfer account as payment.
The journal is :
Cr. A/R account 10,000 USD
Dr. Bank transfer 10, 000 USD
- Customer purchased a certain item and then an invoice created for the customer. This invoice directly reduces the deposit on the customer A/R account to be 9,000 USD. The journal is a standard invoice journal but the balance due of the customer still exists. It means that there is no system reconciled yet.
- To reconcile, open reconciliation form under Business partner --> internal reconciliation. Tick the open invoice and using the adjustment, select create journal entry and then select the bank transfer account and then add the journal entry. After that, reconciliation is made. It will make the customer deposit become 10,000 USD again. if both are reconciled (1st incoming payment and the invoice) by creating a journal entry, it will debit the customer A/R account and credit bank transfer account. The result after reconciled is zero account balance of the customer. Does it means that the customer still have the deposit ? I am sure it won't.

Upgrade to SAP BPC 7.0 with cluster system (Front-End & Back-End)
Hello,
I have to do an upgrade document about an outlooksoft 5.0 SP2 to SAP BPC 7.0 SP4 in a cluster system.
It has 2 front-ends (IIS cluster windows) & 2 back-ends (SQL Cluster).
We are going to do first the migration in 1 node, and then in another. The first upgrade in the first node I understand. I uninstall outlookdoft 5.0, install SAP BPC 7.0 SP4 and then restore the backup of the Appset, and do the posts upgrade action of the Dimension TIME.
But in the second, what do we do??? I uninstall outlookdoft 5.0, install SAP BPC 7.0 SP4 and then what??? Do I have to restore the backup of the Appset again???
I need help.
Best regards.
Pablo Mortera.Hello,
On the second cluster node, you have only to install the software, nothing related to the appset. If you alreay run the migration stepts for the appset, all the information are into daatbase and file server.
However, the normal behaviour is to make the installation on the both nodes, make the basic tests to validate the installation and then proceed with the appset migration.

SAP 7.0 on SUN Cluster 3.2 (Solaris 10 / SPARC)
Dear All;
i'm installing a two nodes cluster (SUN Cluster 3.2 / Solaris 10 / SPARC), for a HA SAP 7.0 / Oracle 10g DataBase
SAP and Oracle softwares were successfully installed and i could successfully cluster the Oracle DB and it is tested and working fine.
for the SAP i did the following configurations
# clresource create -g sap-ci-res-grp -t SUNW.sap_ci_v2 -p SAPSID=PRD -p Ci_instance_id=01 -p Ci_services_string=SCS -p Ci_startup_script=startsap_01 -p Ci_shutdown_script=stopsap_01 -p resource_dependencies=sap-hastp-rs,ora-db-res sap-ci-scs-res

and when trying to bring the sap-ci-res-grp online # clresourcegroup online -M sap-ci-res-grp
it executes the startsap scripts successfully as following

Both interfaces work fine on our 32 bit test server.
Has anyone got interfaces working on SAP B1 2007 on 64 bit H/w S/w?Hello,
Sizing guide is another good literature before made testing. you could download it from documentation resource center. my sizing guide Document version: 1.1 ‒ 04/30/2007 recommends :
1. server platform:
Microsoft® Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard/Enterprise 32bit
Microsoft® Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 Standard/Premium Edition
Microsoft® Windows Server 2003 SP1 Standard/Enterprise 32bit/64bit
Microsoft® Windows Small Business Server 2003 SP1 Standard/Premium Edition
2. Supported database platform
Microsoft® SQL Server 2005 SP2 Standard/Enterprise Edition 32bit/64bit (only on Windows 2003 Server)
let me check also whether SBO 2007A works in the system. Have you upgraded the PL 05 to PL08 ? I've heard it is available.

SAP ECC 6.0 SR3 Cluster failover not working in AIX with DB2 UDB V9.1 FP6
Hi Gurus,
We have installed the SAP ECC 6.0 SR3 High Availability with DB2 UDB V9.1 FP6 in AIX cluster environment.
After installation we are doing the cluster fail test.
Node A
Application Server
Mount Points:
/sapmnt/<SID>
/usr/sap/<SID>
/usr/sap/trans
Node B
Database Server
Mount Points:
/db2//<SID>
The procedure followed to do the cluster failover:
We have down the cluster on Node A and all the resources of the Node A has been moved to Node B.
On Node B when we issued a command to start the SAP. It says u201Cno start profiles foundu201D
WE have down the cluster on Node B and moved the Resource from Node B to Node A . There the db2 User IDu2019s are not available. We have crated the user Idu2019s manually on Node A. however it did not work.
Please suggest the procedure to start the sap in cluster failover.
Best Regards
SijaHi Sija,
Can i have detailed scenario in your cluster configuration.
Means you are saying that going to start cluster package manually, if it is right please make sure that you had the same copy of start, instance profiles of NodeA to Node B. Means you need to maintain two startup, two instance profiles for both nodes. In a normal situation it will picik the profile of node A to start databse from A node. But in a failover situation it will not pick node A profile to start, it should pick Node B s profiles.
Just make a copy from node A and change the profile name accordingly to Node b. Then try to restart.

Enqueue replication service
CI (central instance)(local Drive)
Node 2

Additional cluster node
Enqueue replication service
DI(dialog instance)(local Drive)
I can login into the system using both CI and DI.
if my SAP Cluster group is moved from one node to another i can still login into the system
But when my DB2 group is moved from node A to node B my SAP services are getting closed

SAP CRM 2007 installation in cluster
Dear Experts,
We are about to start the installation of CRM 2007 (ABAP+JAVA) with
Oracle 10g on Windows x64 in cluster environment. In the SAPINST dialog
box under High availability option, I could see installation options like ASCS
Instance, SCS Instance, First MSCS node, Database Instance, Additional
MSCS Node, Enqueue Replication Server, Central Instance and Dialog
Instance.
I have gone through the installation guide. I have below queries
regarding the same. Can you please clarify the same
1) Our requirement is we want to have an ACTIVE-ACTIVE cluster setup
with sap service running in Node A and Database running in Node B. Can
we have this setup in ABAP+JAVA setup
2) Also,in the SAPINST dialog box as said above except last two
(Central and Dialoge instance) as per standard installation guide are
to be installed in shared drives as per the requirement. But, central
and dialog are said to be installed locally on any one node in MSCS or
in separate server. As per my understanding Dialog instance will be
used for load balancing which we do not require now. Hence I feel this
is optional in our case. Where as Central Instance I am not able to
understand why this option is for? Is it mandatory to be installed or optional. If
so, when I installed it in one of the MSCS node the incase of failover
how does it effect the system. As per my understanding ASCS and SCS
comprise central instance.
Please clarify and thanks in advance.

Difference B1i included in SAP2007A - SAP B1iSN 2007A
Short question:
When I install SAP2007A the module B1i is installed with SAP B1.
What is the difference between this B1i module and the separate software B1iSN 2007A ?
In a workshop some time ago (where I was not well enough prepared to ask senseful questions) I only were told that these two integration packets are not compatible and we had first to uninstall the B1i automatically installed with SAP B1 20087A to be able to work with B1iSN2007A.
Many thanks in advance!
Frank RomeniHi Frank,
The major difference is in content and versions.
While both refer to the same underlying technology (B1iP), the B1i version that comes bundled with SAP Business One 2007A has a specific set of content (such as Legal List). The B1iP that comes with B1iSN is packaged and configured for the B1iSN solution, and as such is pre-configured with that set of integration content. Additionally, since B1iSN has a different roadmap and release schedule from B12007A patches, changes made to the core B1iP technology may be different in both versions. Since both versions of B1iP make use of similar internal structures and processes, they are not compatible with each other, which is why one has to be un-installed for the other to work.
