SAP License issue after system refresh.

Hi,
After system refresh, refreshed system has License info of source system. When trying to apply license from unix, it gives below error, saying system number is incorrect to apply new license. Looks the system number of source system is causing issue. I checked, there is no data in MLICHECK table. I could see some info in "saplikey" table. System is 700 system.

First check whether you have deleted all invalid licenses?
use below command to delete invalid licenses
sidadm>saplicense -delete
And apply new license based on new hardwarekey with below command
sidadm>saplicense -install
*I think there should be some invalid licenses lying in your system

SAP Note: 130906 DEV System refresh

Hi,
I want to refresh our DEV server with PRD data. I have seen note 130906. But i'm unable to understand the commands given for R3trans in this note. Like it says create a control file...now how do i create this control file. I guess this process is not clearly defined in htis note. Can some one give me the details of this activity .Any help will be much apprecited.

Hello,
I think you are not in 'SAP Basis' but in some functional module. Better to ask your SAP Basis team to carry out the procedure mentioned in the SAP Note 130906.
Even if you want to try it out, you should have access to OS level for DEV. Control file creation and all other steps are to be performed at OS level using sidadm user. Try to understand the concept more via SAP Note Note 1942 - How does R3trans work?

SAP APO SYSTEM REFRESH

Hi All,
We are going for a system refresh from PRD to DEV in our SAP SCM-APO 7.0 , Live Cache 7.7,The SCM system runs on a DB6 platform with Windows OS, and the DEV is similar to PRD in terms of OS n DB, but am i a little bit confused because it looks like in PRD both SCM & Live Cache are in the same server but in DEV its on different server.How do it go about it,please give ur valuable suggestion from scratch

Those books that you 'found' are classroom textbooks; and they are generally only made available to students who are taking the underlying class.
For these classes, SAP loads data into their training systems that support the classroom curricula, prior to the start of each class.
So, the easy answer is "take the SAP class". If you take the class, SAP will provide you with a new copy of the course material, and once you are in the classroom, you are generally provided with access to their training system, which is consistent with the course material.

Large numbers of workflows appearing in SAP Inbox after system refresh

Hi all,
We are having an odd issue where after we perform a system refresh of our PR system to QA, a massive number of Business 23,000+ appear in the SAP Inbox of certain users who are registered as agents.
We understand how to delete the workflows but want to understand the process of why they keep appearing, and whether this is a system error or a symptom of a user/batch process during or after the refresh. The workflows do NOT appear for these users in the PR system.
95% of the notifications are flagged "Error when generating IDoc from MC Document."
I have been reviewing the Workflow wiki but have yet to find anything pertinent yet.

Hi,
As the error message, those workitems are generated when system trying to generate IDocs.
And the reasons why all workitems are sent to all users is, the task is marked as general task.
What i would suggest is, select any of those workitem, go to its workflow log & analyze which workflow generates these workitems in what case and proceed accordingly.

Logical System Conversion after system refresh failed

Hello,
Logical System Conversion after system refresh couldn't complete as the printer was locked. This job was run in the background. In SM37, the job log of RBDLSMAP shows as job finished, but it took only 40 seconds. Now I see that the logical system got changed(Converted) in the client settings scc4 but I know that this client being a production client and would run for couple of hours. Here is the job log information.

Hi ,
Rerun the BDLS again as this took very little time.
When you try to run again it popsup message saying it already exists just delete that and again put the Logical system name and run it will run that time.
May be while scheduling the job you gave for spool I am not sure why is it looking for Printer which is locked.

How to handle the CRM Middleware after system refresh?

Guys,
We are using CRM 5.0 & R/3 4.6C. We have the middleware configured and set up. We finished all inital loads & delta loads are activated as well. The system works perfectly.
Now for some reason the client wants to refresh the R/3 system. (Basically they are copying over the R/3 Dev system to refresh the R/3 Sandbox system. Our connection is currently between the 2 sand box systems) What impact will this have on the CRM system? Will it cause mass delta downloads? I have already referred to notes 588701 & 765018. Any additional information or watch outs will be appreciated.
Secondly what's the best practice do a refresh in the future? Is there a SAP recomendation on how to go about with system refresh when CRM & R/3 are connected?

Hello ARP,
as always: It depends what to do:
a) do you have a CRM DEV System available? If possible you should get the connection working over there and then do a Landscape Copy of the R/3 DEV + CRM DEV to the Sandbox Landscape.
b) Let them copy the R/3 DEV to the R/3 Sandbox. Then use the Data Integrety Manager (Transaction SDIMA) to get the missing Customers, Transactions exchanged.
In the future they normally have to do a Landscape Copy.

System Refresh: Abap+Java stack

Have a few questions about CRM refresh I'm working on. Done many refreshes over the years and the new process has me shaking my head in disbelief.
Performed a normal system refresh, by restoring online backup of production system onto mirror system. The mirror system exactly matches my production sytem (Oracle 10g, SuSE Linux 64 bit, UNICODE).
Now my system is running from Abap stack perspective, however Java components fail to load.
Now from reading the documentation (System Copy for SAP, Based on SAP Netweaver 2004s Abap+Java) it appears that I have to use sapinst and no longer use online database backups for system refreshes.
Is this the case? Has the investment my organization made into online backups now worthless?
Is there a way to take the java schema in this online copied database and bring it online after converting it to work on the mirror landscape?
Or should I throw out our system methodology and start new

Reading SAP's documentation seems to imply that I need to extract out the java schema from my production source and then re-install on my QA target to make a refresh of the java stack possible.
However, if I have a complete copy of my source system database working on the target, why is the extract necessary?
At least, I should be able to extract out the contents from the source as if it was the target, thereby eliminating any sort of production outages (we have many constraints about shutting down production from fuctional perspective).
I'll do some research around the other tools mentioned to see if they can lend a hand fixing the issue,

Post System Refresh Activity - BDLS run

Hi,
We have finished system refresh of a QA system from Production. We need to run BDLS now to convert the original Production logical systems to QA relevant logical systems.
I am short of understanding of this process. Can anyone please help me with the concept and process?

Hi Abdul Rahim Shaik,
BDLS will convert the logical system name for your PROD to QAS.
For eg:
Your source - PRDCLNT100
Your target - QASCLNT100
If you go to SCC4 in your QAS, u will see Prod logical system name for the client.
Once you run BDLS after system copy, logical system name exist in every table for PRDCLNT 100 will change to QASCLNT100.

Sender File Comm Channel Fails after system refresh

Hi,
we did a system refresh of our PI system and since then the sender file communication channels donot work with the following exception:
Error: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.ConfigException: Some of the IS access information is not available. SLDAcess property may be set to true, but SLD is not available.
I have seen many threads in this forum related to this issue but couldn't find a proper solution.

You may do the following:
1. Perform SLDCHECK on XI.
2. Check if XIAFUSER is not locked or its password has been changed recently.
3. Goto SLD-> Business sytems-> Integration server, check Pipeline URL. It should be
http://hostname:8000/sap/xi/engine?type=entry

System Refresh SAPINST.exe error ExeProcs was executed with status Error

                     As part of system refresh, our QA ECC is restored with Production Data backup. In this process, sapinst.exe is executed to perform homogeneous system copy steps. This process is being terminated with error at the step *"Create SAP stored procedures"*.
The error being displayed is as follows:

Our Environment details:
SAP Version : ECC6
OS                 : Microsoft windows server 2003
DB                 : Microsoft SQL Server         2005.
Can some please guide me in debugging this issue. Your help is highly appreciated.

Hi Satya,
             Thank you for the reply. QA in our landsacpe was in use since 2008. Serveral times system refresh is carried out on our QA with production data but never came accross this issue.
             Usually if the SAPINST.exe run is successfull, temperory licence will be installed and we will be allowed to login into the sytem with our user names normally and carry out post installation steps.
             As the SAPISNT.exe is being terminated, temperory license is not being installed and we got to work around by including parameter to allow default sap* userid and password to login and install license and carry on with the post installation steps. To be frank this issue is not really a show stopper, but there seems to be an issue that is to be resolved.

System Refresh Precautions?

Hi,
During system refresh, are all types of data - master data, transaction data as well as <b>customising data</b> get refreshed from prouduction environment?
Could you please suggest what is best way to get back project specific new customising data on a refreshed environment? Is there some sap recommended best practice on this.

Hi Please go through. This will give you exhaustive information. After refresh we used this to get back the required system specific customizations.
     Refresh from PR1 to QA1
1.     Before the copy
     Note down customer key, Installation number and license key - Done
     LICENSE system: QA1
     Customer key: L1985917776
     Expiration_date: 99991231
     Installation no: 0020065063
     Key: GKRZ25H353129JYX8HCJRS13
     Productid: R3_ORA
license useable ***
(directory: \usr\sap\QA1\SYS\exe\run)
(run command: saplicense show)
Team Involved: SAPDBA
     Download RFC tables - To be done
Tables rfcattrib, rfcdes and rfcdoc have been exported using sapdba on QA1 and the corresponding files are kept in a new temporary directory: /oracle/QA1/rfc_dest. After the system copy, these files have to be moved from /oracle/QA1/rfc_dest to /oracle/QA1/sapreorg and then the tables can be imported into QA1, to revert back to the RFC destination information as it is now.
Steps : 1)login with oraqa1
           2) type sapdba
           3) select e - Export/import
Perform this step two days before the scheduled refresh.

     Backup user master records in QA1 - To be done
Procedure : login to QA1 400.
Execute Transaction code: SCC8 (CLIENT EXPORT)
Selected profile: SAP_USER
Target system: QA1/DV1(safety backup)
Perform this step two days before the scheduled refresh.

     Compare filesystem spaces - Done
Team Involved: SAPDBA
     Compare transports To be done
Team Involved: SAPDBA
     OPERATION MODES(RZ04) Done
Existing QA1 operation modes.
Team Involved: SAPDBA
     Successful backup of PR1 To be done
A successful offline backup has been scheduled on *** and that backup will be restored on to QA1 by the Unix team.

     System messages/E-mails To be done
SM02- CREATE A TEST MESSAGE IN PR1
Two days before the scheduled refresh perform this step.

     Delete the existing datafiles on QA1 To be done
Login as qa1adm and execute stopsap
Login as oraqa1 and execute:
lsnrctl stop
rm rf sapdata?/*
Team Involved: SAPDBA
2.     The copy To be done
Copy all the datafiles from /oracle/PR1/sapdata? To /oracle/QA1/sapdata?
Owner, group and permissions of the new files/directories to be maintained as before
Copy Command: rcp p /oracle/PR1/sapdata*   Sierra: /oracle/QA1/sapdata*
(NOTE: If errors occur when restoring/copying the sapdata on the target system, the complete restore/copying has to be repeated.)
Team Involved: UNIX FOF/USTO
3.     After the copy To be done
     Creating the control file on PR1 To be Done
Login as pr1adm and execute the following in svrmgrl
connect internal
alter database backup controlfile to trace;
exit
FILE created under the following Location: \ORACLE\PR1\saptrace\usertrace\ <pr1_ora_xxxx>.trc chose the latest run
ftp the file onto desktop

     Edit the control file To be done

     SE06 > Database Copy or Migration > Post Installation Processing
     Delete entries from tables: DBSTATHORA, DBSTAIHORA, DBSTATIORA, DBSTATTORA, MONI, PAHI, OSMON, DBSNP, SDBAH, SDBAD, SDBAP, SDBAR, DDLOG, TPFET, TLOCK and TPFHT
     Initial SAP consistency check (Transaction SM28)
     Database consistency check (Transaction DB02)
     Server check (Transaction SM51)
     TMS configuration
      Logon to the SAP R/3 System and goto TCODE SE06. Select "Database Copy or Migration" and execute "Post Installation Processing".
      Delete old TMS configuration and make new configuration for TMS via STMS TCODE.
     Logical system set-up and BDLS
Delete logical system for client 400 after system refresh and create new logicalsystem and assigned to client 400.
After refresh: LOGSYS400(logical system for client 400)
Delete this logical system and create new logical system
New logical system: QA1CLNT400 (logical system same before refresh in QA1)
     ITS and Bugseye settings
     RFC destinations as per Appendix (import the exported tables and then delete the temporary directory /oracle/QA1/rfc_dest)
     Logon load balancing(Transaction SMLG)
     Instance profiles
Import profiles from active servers using RZ10
Save and Activate instance profile. And restart the sap services.
     CCMS configuration
     Housekeeping jobs
     Background jobs(daily jobs)
     Application jobs
     Printer/spool/TemSe set-up
     User administration
    The transports are imported implicitly in post processing with transaction
SCC7.
     Transport sequence number set-up
     Mass transport and Support package/patch application.
Re-import transports to QA1 from DV1 which are not available in PR1.
     Manual configuration
     Create the rest of the clients:
o     400     UAT/OAT Live Copy
New client 340 to be created with the following settings.
Source client: 400
Target client :340
Profile: SAP_UCSV
COPY MODE: local copy
Team Involved: SAPDBA

Can anyone of you please help me in understanding the system refresh procedure??What it is used for and how does it help an organisation!!!
