SAP best practice on scheduling agreements

Hello all,
Our client is an automotive supplier and currently in the SAP environment we use spot POs for indirect purchasing (thru SRM) and scheduling agreement for direct procurement. The scheduling agreements have multiple lines and we try to process as much invoices as ERS as possible.
Currently some of the business units are proposing to have single line items in the SA rather than the multiple ones. The reason being huge no of SA lines being faxed and also supposing it to be a SAP suggested best practice to have ONLY one line item per SA.
I am not sure of any such best practice. Could you please help me with an single Vs multi line scheduling agreements pros and cons. Also what is the best practice that are seen in the automotive sector or being suggested by SAP.
Any SAP official documentation in the public domain will also help.
Thanks

As per my experience, we have used both the ways, both have its pro's and cons.
In one instance we may feel that it is easy to handle one line per one SA and in that way we will create many SA's and in ither instance we may fell having one SA for multiple lines.
SAP does not give any best approach...or else SAP woul dhave provided the option for only one line.
As per my experience the Structuring of a SA should be based on the way you procure from the supplier  / Vendor.
We have one supplier who supplies 800+ materials, we can create one SA with 800 lines... But we have created multiple SA's based on the product category whcih is a bit easy to identify whcoih material goes into which SA and the Vendor is also happy as he knows that for one product there is a specific SA.
Hope this helps you in resolving your issue.,

    when I start the "schedule process" the status getting still "yellow 14:27: 31(194 from 0 records)"
    On the right side I see some actions that are also "yellow", e.g. "DataStore Activation (Change Lo ): not yet activated".
    As a result I cannot see any data in tcode "RSRT" executing the queries "0FIAR_C03/...".

  • Changing a Cube - SAP Best Practice

    I have a situation where a Consultant we have is speaking of a SAP Best Practice but cannot provide any documentation support the claim.
    The situation is that a change has been made in BW Dev to a KF (changed the datatype).  Of course the transport fails in the BW QA system.  OSS note 125499 suggest activating the object manually.
    To do I will need to open up the system for changes and deactivate the KF in question, then a core SAP BW table (RSDKYF) is to be modified to change the datatype.   Then upon activation of the KF, the data in the cube will be converted.
    If I delete the data in the cube, apply the transport, and then reload from PSA would this work also?  I would rather not have to open up the systems and have core BW tables being modified.  That just doesn't seem like a best practice to me.
    Is this practice a SAP Best Practice?
    Regards,
    Kevin

    Hello Kevin,
    opening the system for manual changes is not best practice. There are only few exceptional cases where this is necessary (usually documented in SAP notes).
    "Easy" practice would be to add a new key figure instead of changing the data type. Obviously this causes some rework in depended objects but transport will work and no table conversions will be required.
    "Save" practice is to drop and reload the data. You can do it from PSA if the data is still available. Or create a backup InfoCube and use data mart interface to transfer data between the original and backup.

  • SAP Best practice for Oracle installation on HPux

    Hi - I am looking for SAP best practices document to install ERP6 on Oracle 10G platform HPUNIX 31. Is there any sap best practices guide?
    Also, for Dev system, I am planning to install ABAP and JAVA stacks in one database. What do I need to do in database level?
    Last, How am  I going to configure the 2 engines to communicate?
    Any reference to documents will be appreciated.
    Regards
    k

    Hi,
    Sorry but I'm going to be a bit bold here.
    All needed information is on the guides.
    1) If you are on Windows, you put the SAP-Oracle CD/DVD in, execute the command mentioned on the installation guide type the two things mentioned on the guide and press next next next. Then you install SAP
    2) if you are on UNIX, you start SAP installation, then it stops and tell you to install Oracle. The guide tells you to run RUNINSTALLER (in capitals) you type the two things mentioned on the guide and press next next next. Then you continue the SAP installation.
    Of course, those are the simplified versions
    No response file is generated "ever". The response file comes INSIDE the installation CDs, for that reason is very important to execute the EXACT commands mentioned on the installation guides, in order to use such, already existing, response file.
    I do not understand this need of super-hiper detailed step by step guides.
    If you get one like that, then it will be obsolete after one month because there are new Oracle parameters, new oracle patches/patch sets or new .... that have to be done

  • SAP Best Practice for Water Utilities on ERP2005

    Hi All,
    I want to load SAP Best Practice for Water Utilities on ERP2005. I have downloaded the package from Marketplace but there is NO transport file included on it. It only contains documentation. My questions are
    1. Does anyone know where I can download the transport file, if any?
    2. Should I use the transport file from Baseline Best Practice instead?
    Thank you,
    Bomo

    Hello!
    The file should contain eCATTs with data according to best practice preconfigured scenarios and transactions to install them.
    Some information about preconfigured scenario you could find here:
    http://help.sap.com/bp_waterutilv1600/index.htm -> Business Information -> Preconfigured Scenarios
    Under the "Installation" path you could find "Scenario Installation Guide" for Water Utilities.
    I hope it would be helpful.

    Hello Ramesh,
    you should have a look at the SAP Instguide, and if it tells you to do as your colleagues say, open a ticket to SAP and ask, whether doing it the otherw ay could have spoiled your system. Anything but an official "yes, it's ok" won't help you.
    For the other guys: have a loook at http://service.sap.com/instguides, there you can find all the guides you need.

    ASAP methodology is one methodlogy used in implementing SAP .
    The ASAP methodology adheres to a specific road map that addresses the following five general Phases:
    Project Preparation, in which the project team is identified and mobilized, the project Standards are defined, and the project work environment is set up;
    Blueprint, in which the business processes are defined and the business blueprint document is designed;
    Realization, in which the system is configured, knowledge transfer occurs, extensive unit testing is completed, and data mappings and data requirements for migration are defined;
    Final Preparation, in which final integration testing, stress testing, and conversion testing are conducted, and all end users are trained; and
    Go-Live and Support, in which the data is migrated from the legacy systems, the new system are activated, and post-implementation support is provided.
    ASAP incorporates standard design templates and accelerators covering every functional area within the system, as well as supporting all implementation processes. Complementing the ASAP accelerators, the project manager can create a comprehensive project plan, covering the overall project, project staffing plan, and each sub-process such as system testing, communication and data migration. Milestones are set for every work path, and progress is carefully tracked by the project management team.
    Hope it will help you.
