SAP BI -- relevance , market value & future scope ?

Hi All
Friends, I hate coding. However I can work well enough on tools.
I am BTECH Computers & in IT field for last 6 years, where in I have worked in multiple areas of testing, pre sales, project management.
Now I am getting an option in one of my project to work as a SAP BI Consultant. It is a support project.
I am bit confused --
1)) should I switch to this SAP BI field at this stage ??
2)) will this SAP BI provide me long term carrier growth ??
3)) after HANA , Is SAP BI still relevant and are we getting new clients/projects in the market for this skill ??

Assets: provision for differences between APC and Market Value

Hi,
my current client needs to make a provision with the difference between the APC and Market Value in some assets (buildings...).
Our idea is to use Valuation Area 02 in order to reflect those "Market Values" and create another Valuation Area = 02 - 01. With this area we will have the amount the we need to make the provision in GL.
I just wanted to know if FI-AA has anything that could make those provisions automatically. I have looked into help.sap.com, customizing etc... and I could not find anything.
Does anybody knows if there is a standard "provision function" for assets?
I think that we will need to develop an ABAP program for this requirement...

Valuation Procedure to calculate Fair Market Value

Hi Treasury Experts,
In the Treasury Hedge Management component we are looking for a valuation procedure which can handle the calculation of the Fair Market Value of the financial transactions in line with the standard FAS133 accounting standard.
We have financial contracts that run over several months. From the contract start date to contract valuation date we need to value based on comparing the spot rate of the transaction against the close rate applicable at valuation date. We can use the Price Valuation Procedure for Forward Exchange Transaction with step 3000 (Rate Valuation Spot/Spot Hedge Accounting) to calculate this piece of the Fair Value.
We also need to include in the calculation of the Fair Value a component from the valuation date to the contract maturity date. This piece of the valuation is based on an interpolation of the interest rates over the remaining days of the contract (from valuation date to maturity date).
Can you advise if there is a valuation step or perhaps number of valuation steps that can be used to calculate the Fair Value of a financial contract in line with this requirement? That is to value the contract from inception date to valuation date based on comparing the PV at spot versus the PV at close rate and then to value the contract from valuation date to contract maturity date based on the PV by the interpolated interest rates over the remaining days of the contract?

Market value of bpc consultant

Hi All,
I am exp. Technical / Basis consultant, trying to gain some skills in other modules i.q. BPC ...., have been advise to learn BPC, what do you think about market value of BPC consultant , is there, or going to be demand on the market ??

Recession affects the global market. Many of the US projects may put on hold/Canceled. But on the other side, many organizations across the globe other than US are also implementing SAP widely. Though the US market goes down, the other market will not have much impact. So, don't worry about the recession rumors. Try to be neutral..........
One more important thing for you, even if you are a Certified Consultant from Siemens, there is no guarantee that you would get placed soon. It all depends up on your skill set.

Import conversion data table from SAP R/3 into value mapping table in XI

    Somebody knows how to import a table with conversion data that are in SAP R/3 and to take it to a value mapping table in XI?
    The purpose is to use a mapping table that can change in the future. Must I use a ABAP programming that retrieve data and build the value mapping table?
    If so, how I specify in the ABAP programming the group id, the scheme, the agency and the corresponding value?

There is an interface for mass replication of mapping data. The steps you need to carry out to use this are:
+Activities
To implement a value-mapping replication scenario, proceed as follows:
       1.      Register the Java (inbound) proxies.
To do so, call the following URLs in the following order in your Internet browser:

For example, you can use the shipped ABAP proxies.
In the case of the receiver communication channel, choose the adapter type XI. Ensure that you configure a channel for the Java proxy receiver in this case.
Enter the path prefix /MessagingSystem/receive/JPR/XI for this purpose.

Fixed Asset: market value

Hi All!
Due to IAS we must post an special provision:
when the inmaterial fixed asset value market is minor than fixed asset net value we have to post a provision by depreciation (in order to reflect the possible loss when we sale it)
This provision does not affect the fixed asset countable net value. So that provision don't have post in 01 depreciation area. But:
1- when we sell the assets the provision must appear in the sale affecting to the benefit or loss.
2- I need to know the provision for each fixed assets. That's why we need SAP shows its in FI-AA area.
With the transactions under Manual Value Correction folder (fixed asset menu) the fixed asset net value is modified.
We've tried to implement a second area doesnt affect to fixed
asset values from the 01 depreciation area and vice verse to post there this provision. But The system doesnt allow that (message error number AC528)
Do have more ideas?

It seems that Transferred Reserves is used to sell a fixed asset and transfer the benefit to other asset (If I've undertood right)
I put an exemple to fix the question:
I adquiered a fixed asset by 1.000 euros (a building) in 2005
- Deprecation key: LIND (Str.-line) / Use Life: 10 years
In 2007 my building on second hand house market is valuated in 500 euros (minor than fixed asset countable net value 800 euros).
So I must post a provision by depreciation by 300 euros. That post does'nt affect to fixed asset countable net value (is just a provision). My fixed asset countable net value is 800 euros.
In 2010 I sold my asset by 1.000 euros. My fixed asset countable net value is 500 euros. So my profit is 500 euros. Then I must to reverse the provision post in 2007 .
I need to post that provision related to fixed asset but without affect to asset net value, to reverse that in the asset sale.

Hello, I can assure you that you will not suffer from hunger or anything like that... there are thousands of companies running SAP accross the globe. And if, and that will not happen, somebody would threaten SAP, understand how much money depends on SAP systems. It would take years to get rid of the vendor (SAP) lock-in for all those companies.
Ok, that was the practical approach. On the other hand I do believe in quality and sustainability of what we do here and feel no fear about my future. Even if some kind of a problem appear, SAP would teach you so much about business processes and how companies are runned, that you could immediately switch to some kind of management/ analyst job. t least that is how I feel about it.

Unable to get values within scope of the RowGroup(only got values using Previous and current scope value)

I already calculated a row(Add Total row) like Gross profit within Group1 (a,b,c,d,e which are sub groups) using Previous and current scope column group values. ex: Gross Profit = a - b. (within group1)
Gross Profit = Previous(Sum(Fields!Trans_amount.Value)) - Sum(Fields!Trans_amount.Value) in Group1
Now, I want to get values for Net income like Net income = a - b - c in Group1. (OR)
Net income = Gross Profit - c in Group1 (Using Gross Profit textbox values using Reportitems!textbox.value). but, values different. Since Expression got new calculation)
Please help me.

As per my understanding, there are group and subgroups in the report, you added total to a group with the expresson: Previous(Sum(Fields!Trans_amount.Value)) - Sum(Fields!Trans_amount.Value). You want to add a text box to the report to calculate Net income
with the expression: Previous(Sum(Fields!Trans_amount.Value)) - Sum(Fields!Trans_amount.Value) - Sum(Fields!Trans_amount.Value). In order to improve the efficiency of troubleshooting, I need to ask several questions:
• “I already calculated a row(Add Total row) like Gross profit within Group1 (a,b,c,d,e which are sub groups)” What’s the meaning of Group1 and subgroup a, b, c, d, e ? Could you please mark Gross profit and the groups in the screenshot?
• How to calculate Net income? Please provide some more detailed information of your requirements. I would be appreciated it if you could provide sample data and clear screenshot of the report.
This may be a lot of information to ask for at one time. However, by collecting this information now, it will help us move more quickly toward a solution.

Please help us out in sorting out this problem,
We are automating BEx Analyzer for a Testing Project with Quick Test Professional (QTP) a functional automation tool uses VB script.
Problem:
There are 5 steps in automation
Invoke BEx Application
Log in to BEx server

Set values for Variables for Query
Display Report
We are able to do 1,2,3 steps using BEx API functions and running BEx macros but we struck up with 4th step,

what my problem is in our entire application of SAP we have created many zprograms and created my zfunction modules and manythings like so there in some places we have hardcoded the value i mean like 'X company' so i don't want to give this hardcoded value as X company, i want to change this so i don't remember where all we have placed this hardcoded value , so my question is do we have anything in SAP where we can find this hardcoded value?

SAP Script Formatting Dec Values

Hello All,
I am printing some decimal data in my sap script(10,200.30).However this depends on user specific settings.If the user specific setting is changed (10.200,30) value appears different.Is there any command in Script through which i can control just as date (SET DATE MASK).

I have kept my user setting to 1.234,5.I have checked T005X table.The Decimal notation is 1,234.5 for the country which i have selected.
I have used the command .
However even after that i am still getting the same output(1.23,5)Is there any thing additional that needs to be done?
