• SAP PI Roadmap for future release

Hi,
Can anybody give some idea/link about SAP PI roadmap for next 2-3 years.
Regards,

HI,
As you might be knowing current SAP PI release is of PI 7.1.
now as per my understanding there will be SAP Enhancement Packages in future instead of new releases.
SAP had introduced the enhancment package strategy.

• Recover SAP Standard Roadmap

Hi Experts,
while coping and changing my own roadmap templates using TA RMDEF, RMAUTH i accidently deleted some structure elements of a SAP Standard Roadmap.
How can I rebuild the standard roadmap? Which tables, objects etc would i have to transport from another solman installation?
Thank you all in advance.
benwen

Hi,
I would give it a try to R3trans. Create a file (e.g., RSMPTEXT.exp) with the following contents in the source system:
Export
File='RSMPTEXTS.dat'
Select * from RSMPTEXTS
And then use command 'R3trans RSMPTEXT.exp' to export the table contents to file RSMPTEXTS.dat
In the target system create a file (e.g. RSMPTEXT.imp) with the following contents:
Import
File='RSMPTEXT.dat'
And the use command 'R3trans RSMPTEXT.imp' to run the import.

• SAP SCPM Roadmap

Hey scpm community,
i was wondering if there is somewhere something existing linke a SCPM roadmap. What I'm interested in is information
on dates and planned enhanced functionality.
Cheers,
Moritz

Hi Manish,
A year has passed since this last post and I was wondering if there is an update on the SCPM roadmap?
I have recently been involved with a SPM implementation so I'm quite up-to speed with the current Flex technology but I am keen to know how the future looks for SCPM and Flex.
It looks likr the model is largely developped through a partnership with Coca Cola, are there many more implementations of SCPM? I am trying to get a feel for the product maturity and future for a potential implementation for a client.
Many thanks,
Bridie Stevens

• Is SPM Reporting Flex included in the SAP Roadmap

Hi Rajesh, Rohit,
A quick question here regarding the SPM Flex reporting tool and whether this has been included in SAP's Roadmap strategy for the future. I can't see any mention of it in any presentations or literature. Concerns over whether it will become obsolete, etc. Can't see it as the integration to other advanced features such as Spend Advisor and E-Sourcing is vital.
Any advice welcome.
Best regards,
Pom

Hi Pom,
Customer and partners have asked this question a few times before and a very valid one. Nothing is a grantee, and I am no fortune teller. As and when new technologies emerge SAP will evaluate them to weigh their benefits against existing choices. Having said all of that, this architecture of delivering the flex UI for end users and using NW BW as the data warehouse is gaining popularity. So Adobe Flex based UI is here to stay at least for the near future.
Starting mid this year you will see other applications in EPM (Enterprise Performance Management Suite) use this architecture and technology. Some of them are already on this band wagon. In fact SPM UI is being separated and this UI will be used by the other application. Meaning all applications will have the same look and feel.
Hope this helps

• ASAP V3.7: roadmap for SAP BI

Hello all,
if you hit page ASAP Implementation Roadmap (SMP login required), you'll see what's new in ASAP Implementation V3.7 (June 2007) release of the roadmap.
Interestingly, this version provides:
* New roadmap content for SAP Business Intelligence
Completely new content for business process requirements gathering, solution configuration and testing of SAP Business Intelligence
I've downloaded the Complete View, the Methods View and the Output View of ASAP Implementation Roadmap V3.7. However I can't find the referred roadmap content about SAP BI.
Have you got any idea about where I can find it?
Cheers, Davide

Thanks for your feedback, Sunil.
The presentations collected in the web page you suggest are interesting, but I'm afraid they're not in the scope of the AcceleratedSAP (ASAP) Roadmaps.
Refer to the Service MarketPlace's roadmaps quick link.

• Licensing cost: For SAP R/3 4.7 to ECC 6.0 Upgrade

Hello,
I am planning to upgrade my SAP R/3 4.7 System to ECC 6.0.
I would like to know whether any additional Licensing cost is involved for this SAP software upgrade.
Also, I have three system landscape. Can you give me some pointers to SAP Upgrade Roadmap and Upgrade strategies for 3 system landscape upgrade?
Thanks.
-Nirav.

Hi Nirav,
the maintenace cost will be the same as before.
the maintanance cost include the possibility
that if you pay the maintenace fee regularly you can always get the
newest software releadse and the support packages and kernel for it.
please also look at this link.

• SAP - SYCLO and MAM(2.5/ 3.0) Direction....?

All,
We have a couple of core business process(Coal yard operator rounds, Fueling applications) running very successfuly using MAM2.5 and MI 7.0.
Quite recently, SAP entered into an agreement with Syclo to offer field service management on mobile devices , which will include functionality for work order execution, operator rounds, time entry and material management. Does anyone have more info and details into this and how this impacts the roadmap of MAM and whether migration of MAM 2.5 /MAM3.0 would be a option?
Any additional insights would greatly be appreciated.
Best Regards
Narasimhan

Hi Narasimhan
With more and more Mobile devices flooding the market and each device coming with its own OS and support for different technologies, SAP's mobile strategy is now focused more providing its customers and field users with native and richer UI experience, on demand data (Push from server), better device management & administration and so on. Starting NetWeaver Mobile 7.1, SAP has entered into tie ups with different partners like RIM, Sybase, Syclo etc to provide customers the advantage of two worlds - SAPs know how of core business processes and partners know how of instant push, device management and so on.
With regard to MAM, you would be aware that currently none of the versions of MAM is supported on the latest Mobile 7.1 platform and these versions MAM 2.5/3.0 work perfectly only on MI 2.5 and 7.0. All versions of SAP standard applications will continue to be supported only on MI 2.5 and 7.0 and you can continue to use/upgrade on this platform. But the same cannot be said with Mobile 7.1. The Syclo partnership could be the future of MAM / MAU on the newer platform with partner based co-innovation.
Best Regards
Sivakumar
PS: This is only my personal thought and does not in any way reflect SAP's roadmap or strategy on Mobile

• SAP PI or BizTalk ?

I am evaluating the internal and external integration scenarios for a large company to help them when they should use SAP PI and when to use BizTalk. In this sense, i have made some comparison and would like to share them with you. Any other comments/additions will be appreciated.
Especially SAP upgrade roadmap (especially NetWeaver) and the vendor product strategy is really important for me. What do you think about it?
Purpose: Create a common understanding of the capabilities of each integration platform
More resources with BizTalk skills
u2013More resources in total and more certified resources for BizTalk
u2013Low availability of resources for both platforms
Community
u2013More sources of information and resources for BizTalk
u2013In practice one source of training and certification for PI (sdn)
Technical platform permeates the development environment
u2013J2EE or Microsoft
Dependency on application in the case of PI
u2013PI used to integrate applications within SAP system
u2013PI used as service repository (from 7.0) for all applications
Integrated management solution for PI
BAM support in BizTalk

Hi Alper Celik,
I personaly prefer SAP PI than Biz talk, SAP PI integration approach is very easy and support all Biz talk capabilities. My current project where i am replacing biz talk scenarios with PI and infact my client was really happy with results what we have achieved.
People had a perception that SAP PI is for SAP integration but that is not true SAP PI works really well for non SAP System integration and current implemnettaion project we integrated non SAP system and handle high load.
If you use PI to integrate SAP systems then you can save lot of time compare to toher middlewares and you can save lot of investment compare to other middlewares(as per my experience).

• Roadmap of Records Management (RM) & Digital Personnel File (DPF)

DPF (Digital Personnel File) is SAP standard solution to archiving of process forms and attachments at the end of HCM processes (created by HCM Processes and Forms Framework).
I read that until 2012 Record Management (upon which DPF is built) was SAP Certified solution to Content Management System (ECM). On 2012 SAP changed Records Management name to Folders Management and branded this tool with its new name, implying that RM is no longer SAP Certified Solution to content management.
So my question is: What is SAP current Roadmap of RM in general and DPF spcifically? and what is SAP current Certified solution to this issue?

Thanks alot for your reply.
May be not the exact comparison, but atleast I could make out what are the added advantages using opentext.
DPF from HCM P&F also provides a folder structure irrespective of infotypes , but not all the listed features from opentext could be met.
Basically DPF is a wrapper on top of RM and it is also connected to Archive . So definitely opentext is way further to go.

• What is methodology in sap

what is methodology in sap

Hi,
Welcome to SDN.
The ASAP Roadmap provides the methodology for implementing and continuously optimizing your SAP System. It divides the implementation process into five phases.
Phase 1: During this phase the team goes through initial planning and preparation for SAP project.
• Define project goals and objectives
• Clarify the scope of implementation
• Define project schedule, budget plan, and implementation sequence
• Establish the project organization and relevant committees and assign resources
Phase 2: Business Blueprint
The purpose of this phase is to achieve a common understanding of how the company intends to run SAP to support their business. Also, to refine the original project goals and objectives and revise the overall project schedule in this phase. The result is the Business Blueprint, a detailed documentation of the results gathered during requirements workshops.
Phase 3: Realization:
The purpose of this phase is to implement all the business process requirements based on the Business Blueprint. The system configuration methodology is provided in two work packages: Baseline (major scope); and Final configuration (remaining scope). Other key focal areas of this phase are conducting integration tests and drawing up end user documentation.
Phase 4: Final Preparation:
The purpose of this phase is to complete the final preparation (including testing, end user training, system management and cutover activities) to finalize your readiness to go live. The Final Preparation phase also serves to resolve all critical open issues. On successful completion of this phase, you are ready to run your business in your live SAP System.
Phase 5: Go Live & Support:
The purpose of this phase is to move from a project-oriented, pre-production environment to live production operation. The most important elements include setting up production support, monitoring system transactions, and optimizing overall system performance.

• Which SAP products require Netweaver and which do not

Hello, does anyone have slides or a link that shows which SAP products run on Netweaver? For example, some Sybase solutions do not run on NW but I'm not sure which may and which may not. Things like Aleri and probably some other components don't require NW. How about Business Objects, does that require NW or run on NW. A nice diagram showing what were would be great.
SAP Event Insight is shown as one server but I know Sybase CEP (Aleri) is part of it, so, I believe that one server can be solely NW.
Thx

• How many types of roadmaps?

Hi
How many types of roadmaps are there?
What is the use of roadmaps?
What are the substructures of the each phase?

Neni

Hi Neni,
all of the information you are looking for is here.
http://service.sap.com/roadmaps
Also, in the system if you create a project in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN, click on the scope tab and the the Roadmap select tab and you can see what Roadmaps are available for you. The ST-ICO component determines which ones you have.
The purpose of a roadmap is to give you an idea of the items you need to accomplish, milestones and accelerators to help you perform the task at hand.
Look through the link above and then ask questions if you need more detail.

• Procedure/Best Practices - For providing SAP BASIS SUPPORT

Hi All,
I need information on SAP BEST PRACTICES on providing BASIS SUPPORT for SAP4.7.
If you can give me any link or document regarding this that would be of great help to me.
Expecting the replies...
Thanks
Cheenu

Hi Cheenu,
I'm not quite sure what do you mean by "providing SAP BASIS SUPPORT".
Run SAP roadmaps describe the recommended methodology for End-to-end operations of SAP solution, including technical operations (basis). You can check them at service.sap.com/roadmaps (go to "Run SAP Roadmap"). If you need a list of tasks you should perform in a scope of solution operations you'll find it there as well.
SAP solution management is based on ITIL methodology. You can find more about ITIL at www.best-management-practice.com/IT-Service-Management-ITIL/.
Hope this helps.
