SAP BI Step by Step case study in connection with FI/CO

Hi BI-experts!
I would like to start with SAP BI. My goal is to get familiar with connection of SAP BI with SAP FI/CO.
Can some one tell me how to find more or less real case study e.g. from SAP Best Practices on

I would like to load master and transaction data from SAP ERP system and analyze these data in SAP Bi 7.0.

Axel - normally a FICO implementation will take 6-9 months for a real case study and is highly dependant on the configuration of FICO in the individual site
You are best looking at the help files for bi content and using these as the basis for creating a workign data model for a sample project dependant on the source FICO config

Before going to do BW project , you should consider the following things.
1)You must understand the Business requirements of the project.(project preparation)
2)Design the specification.(Here you should consider, if SAP supported pre-built in objects available).let's say, sap has preconfigured cube, ods,roles,queries, and infosource etc.. in Business content.
you should search if any of SAP Business content object suitable for your Business requirements.
If your Business requirement is to overview the Sales of particular company in a year, sap has provider Sales Overiveiw cube already, you can use them, instead of creating by own). Business blueprint.
3)Create a object according to the specification you created in the previous step(realization).
4)Create a Documents for your projects(final preparation)
5) Test your bw project in QA/PRD system..(go-live)

Step by Step method to create a process chain in SAP BI

HI There,
I'm new to SAP BI, can anyone pleas explain me why we need to use Process Chains in a simpler way?
Also it would be great if someone can give me step by step description for creating process chain. I've seen couple of PDF files but they confusing me more then clearing my doubts. Appreciate your time and thanks in advance.

Hi Vandana,
1.Go to RSPC tcode ->(F5) create ->It will ask for process chain name ->then it will ask for start variant
2.If you have no start variant pre created then create new one (at right side there will be a paper symbol for that ).Every process chain has one and only one start variant that is to set scheduling option etc .When you will create a new one you will go to a screen where you have scheduling option .
3.a) Direct scheduling ->to start execution immediately
b) start using meta chain or API ->chains which run at specific time (day ,month etc or after some specific event ). save your settings and go back .click check symbol for final creation of start variant.
4.Now at left screen you have chain symbol (process types) .when you will click on that you will have all the process lists .
5.You can select process as per your requirement and connect different processes together.Each process is a different event (ex : load DTP ,Infopackage ,ABAP program ,AND ,Interrupt ).You cna do detailed study for that .
6.After adding all processes activate (ctrl+F3) and execute .
7.After that you can check logs (shift+F1) .you can see todays log ,yesterday and today etc .For details of every process execution right click on process and see display variant .
Hope this will be helpful for basic startup.you can further read thoroughly on each process .

1) Yes, the installations procedures is almost the same for all SAP versions, however its advisible to use follow the installation guides which comes with the DVD or is also available in SAP marketplace..
2) Object is SAP is almost everything in Sap.
object could be anything like
TABLES
PROGRAMS
VIEW
FUNTTION MODULES
DOMAIN
DATA ELEMENT
STRUCTURE
and so on
3)Composite role is the combination of two or more roles(be it 2 or more single roles or combination of two or more composite roles or permutation of single and composite role).. whereas derived roles can inherit all authorization objects from the parent role and can have its own authorization objects as well..

How to do basic LO extraction for SAP-R3-BW
1. Go to transaction code RSA3 and see if any data is available related to your DataSource. If data is there in RSA3 then go to transaction code LBWG (Delete Setup data) and delete the data by entering the application name.
2. Go to transaction SBIW --> Settings for Application Specific Datasource --> Logistics --> Managing extract structures --> Initialization --> Filling the Setup table --> Application specific setup of statistical data --> perform setup (relevant application)
3. In OLI*** (for example OLI7BW for Statistical setup for old documents : Orders) give the name of the run and execute. Now all the available records from R/3 will be loaded to setup tables.
4. Go to transaction RSA3 and check the data.
5. Go to transaction LBWE and make sure the update mode for the corresponding DataSource is serialized V3 update.
6. Go to BW system and create infopackage and under the update tab select the initialize delta process. And schedule the package. Now all the data available in the setup tables are now loaded into the data target.
7.Now for the delta records go to LBWE in R/3 and change the update mode for the corresponding DataSource to Direct/Queue delta. By doing this record will bypass SM13 and directly go to RSA7. Go to transaction code RSA7 there you can see green light # Once the new records are added immediately you can see the record in RSA7.
8.Go to BW system and create a new infopackage for delta loads. Double click on new infopackage. Under update tab you can see the delta update radio button.
9.Now you can go to your data target and see the delta record.

replicate data sources in BW:
RSA1 -> source systems -> right click on your source system -> replicate
then activate your BC:
service.sap.com/bi -> BI Business Content -> General Information -> SAP BW Business Content - Activation
and execute infopackage (it should be delivered with BC)

SAP Demo Financial Accounting (case study)

Hi!
I would like to start with SAP Demo Financial Account.
I downloaded the BI CONT 7.03 from service marketplace and can see the appropriate Info Provider.
I also integrated the SAP ECC IDES 6.0 system into BI system via RSA1 --> Source Systems --> BI
--> ERB Client 200
My questions:
1) How to load the accounts payable and accounts receivable from this SAP ECC system for this example in order to execute queries for this data?
2) Can I change the data here? (e.g. characterictic, etc.)
3) Where can I find the further documenation for this issue?
