SAP BO explorer infospace job execution

Is there a way to execute jobs currently in Tidal, or do we know if Cisco plans to support Explorer Infospace execution, same way as Tidal can run
WEBI reports? I am new to running BO jobs thru Tidal, but it appears this is not an option.
I am running TES 6.1, and the SAP explorer version is 12.2.3.

Issue resolved.
A query that goes against SQL Server and takes longer than 10 minutes to fetch data, both Information Design Tool queries (within business layer) as well as Explorer reindexing such queries will disconnect from the database after 10 minutes.
The fix is to set 'Query Timeout Available' to False in sqlsrv.sbo file in the following two locations:
Local machine where IDT is running:C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dataAccess\connectionServer\odbc
BusinessObjects Enterprise BI 4.0 server(s): C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dataAccess\connectionServer\odbc
Data Access documentation incorrectly states that the default value for this is False. Default value is True

  • Authorisation in Business Objects Explorer Infospaces created on BEx query

    Hello,
We have installed Business Objects Explorer, created Universe on BEx query and created a Explorer Infospace on that universe. everything works fine but the authorisations created for the user in BEx query are not taken into consideration when I login using SAP username "leveraging" SSO.
Is Explorer not designed to consider authorisations in BEX query?
Whats happening during Indexing of an Infospace? Will the system save the data in Business Objects repository from the source of the data?
    Thanks in advance.
    /Suman

    Hi Suman,
You are right , Explorer is not designed to leverage Authorisations in SAP BW.
Polestar is indexing data and keeping it out side of BW.  Although you can log in with SSO , it doesn't check the authorization according to BW, it shows everything indexed.
    You can have a workaround if the case is simple such as;
Suppose you have 3 region , you can create 3 infospaces and give these authorizations to users from CMC.
But if you really want to use all features of authorization in BW , it is impossible for now.

  • Enable server group in BPC job execution

    Dear Experts
[Note 1476057 - Enable server group in BPC job execution|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=0001476057&nlang=E]
After upgrade, the server group logic will be :
1, Create a correct server group with server assigned,
        job will be executed in specified server group;
2, Create a server group without server assigned,
job will be successfully submitted to BW,
         but will not be executed until server is assigned to the server group;
3, Incorrectly specify a server group in web admin,
client will get error message when run package.
As I understand the group server is defined in BW Server. Where should I specify this group server in BPC. I could not find the parameter in BPC Web Admin - Appset Parameters or BPC Server (.Net Server) - Server Options.
Appreciate if somebody can help ?
    Thanks

    HI John,
The group settings in WGM SL and Leopard are different.
Yes, they are. I booted to my eval copy of SL Server and ran through the settings in WGM, Server Admin and Server Preferences; as you pointed out, all the mail list admin tools I could find are in the Mail service in Server Admin.
The only thing that may be of interest that I could find is that for the group mail list, the email address for the group is group_shortname@ServerDNSname, not groupshortname@yourdomain (this is in the Mail Services Admin Guide for 10.6). This might explain why your email to the group may have been rejected?

  • SAP Business Explorer Analyzer Performance testing

    Hi, All
I don't have any experience in SAP at all. So maybe I will ask silly questions.
I was asked to provide performance testing for SAP Business Explorer Analyzer. As you know it is Excel base application with ActiveX control from SAP. HP Loadrunner doesn't support such configuration (It can only work with SAPGUI). So I am forced to search for other possible solutions. So maybe here I can get ideas and opinions about options:
    1. I asked SAP admins about possibility to do the same things what users do from BEx  (query execution + some drill down in data) in SAPGUI, maybe with predefined parameters or with additional customization. Unfortunately I've got an answer that it isn't possible at all. Is it really?
    2. Another idea is to simulate what users do in BEx with VBA since anyway Excel interacts with BEx engine via DBA. There I met another problem. There is no any documentation about ActiveX components (e.g. com.sap.bi.et.analyzer.addin.BExConnect) or  API used in BExAnalyzer.xla. The question is "is it possible or not to fully automate all data manipulation with VBA" and "Where can I get documentation about SAP VBA API?"
    Thanks,
    Alexander

You can run the queries with drilldown using transaction rsrt in list mode and interact via standard screen functions
This won't however give you the WAN or the presentation server overhead (ie formatting of the cells with excel wrappers of styles)
Read here for a testing example

  • Explorer InfoSpaces on HANA Views - column label changes cause issues?

Key question is – do simply label changes in HANA view cause issues with Explorer InfoSpaces?  Furthermore, on source view changes, does the InfoSpace also need to be adjusted?
What we have observed is this
    1. InfoSpaces have been created using the “SAP HANA appliance” connection highlighted below. The corresponding “Home” screen is shown below that, so there are around 14 or so InfoSpaces that should be available.
    2. Yesterday, there was a production deployment that contained some changes to the underlying views in the form of label changes (not column name changes).
    3. Now, in the “Manage” screen we cannot see these same 14 InfoSpaces available under the expected connection. Instead, they are all available under the “Source Unavailable” node with the default action of “Change Source” shown.
Additionally, we are seeing some strange behavior where certain facets are actually containing the wrong data. For example, in a facet/column called “Source Type”, where the expected values are “NBP or PBP”, we are seeing Material numbers like “00001112453”. This leads me to believe that there is a mapping issue under the covers.
    Thanks,
    Justin

Our BOE Explorer is Version: 14.1.1 Build: 1072   - I’m not sure how this corresponds with your 69.01 to 74 numbers (release note numbers?).
But it sounds identical to your description.
One of our observations: if we change the sorting on a facet pane using the upper right sort control the values are corrected for a while, at least until we change a measure and the set of facets get updated with the miss-mapped values again.    This only occurs on some models and we haven’t been able to determine what the underlying criteria might be that aggravates the problem.
Thanks for your input – it helps us determine a viable path forward.
    Cheers,
    Tony

  • How to remove Decimals in Quantity Objects in SAP BO Explorer View created on top SAP Bex Query?

    Hi,
I created SAP BO Explorer report on top of SAP BEx Query.
In SAP BEx Query, Decimals were hided but when i created OLAP Universe on top that SAP BEx Query and Created Index on top of Information Space in SAP BO Explorer and then created Exploration Views. But i'm getting Decimals in my Exploration Views where as SAP BEx Query in RSRT, no decimals were appearing.
Can anyone suggest me how to remove decimals in SAP BO Exploration Views.

    Hi Ramana,
I am not use how you connect to SAP BEx query (Via universe or BWA or HANA)
What I could say is BWA and HANA, you cannot adjust this
For universe, you could try in universe layer, there is note about this
For BWA and HANA, this function might be enhanced but you 'd better raise OSS to SAP to check with them

  • SDK development for SAP BusinessObjects Explorer Accelerated version

    Hi all,
in one of our project we need to use the engine of Explorer Accelerated an SDK application.
Is it possible or does exists sdk libraries for using only the search component of Explorer?
What we need is something that give to Explorer box our search request and give back to us a result that could be a table/webi report/xml file without using the webinterface itself of Explorer.
    Thanks!

  • Sql Server Agent Job Execution

    Hi All,
I want to run a sql agent job (one job is execution one package) in such a way that as soon as job1 completes , it should be run again (without any time loss)
    I am folowing Below approach:
Job 1 has 2 steps , in both the steps I am calling same package to execute . After that on Success/Failure action. I am selecting the same step.it is running in an infinite loop and continue fetching data.
is there any dis-advantages on the above approach?
Is there any other approach to achive the Same?
    Thanks in Advance....

    Hello,
The two-step recursive (on success) technique should be fine.  I would just recommend the introduction of short-circuit”techniques that stops a runaway job in the event of logical issues (the “on failure” action will still catch the general error issues).
Other patterns that are sometimes used for continual-execution requirements:
Service Broker (for example, continually watch the queue and act on new messages)
T-SQL home-grown job that runs in a loop and then executes the job based on some condition – and would require you to check job execution state
For a continuously running package watching for new files in a folder, one example is detailed in the following blog post:
Continuously watching files with WMI Event Watcher Task

  • SAP Business Explorer (BEx), not BI

For clarification, in 2008, SAP used the term u2018business intelligenceu2019 in two ways:
    SAP BusinessObjects BI solutions
    SAP NetWeaver BI
In order to remove confusion, the term business intelligence is now associated only with the solutions from the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio.
SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (BI) is no longer used and instead we refer to the following:
    SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (BW)
    SAP Business Explorer (SAP BEx)
    SAP NetWeaver BW Accelerator (BWA)
Therefore, this forum name should probably not refer to BI.  We hope this helps clear up the confusion.

  • Migrating sapwsdl file using SAP ES Explorer

Is there any way to use the existing sapwsdl file which is created using SAP connector to SAP ES Explorer?
Our aim is to use the SAP ES Explorer with Visual Studio 2005 version.
Or is there any other way to migrate the application using SAP ES Explorer without using service registry. Please reply as soon as possible as we are not able to proceed further.
    Thank You,
    Juhi

    Hi Juhi,
    Pls. find my comments below-
    >>Is there any way to use the existing sapwsdl file which is created using SAP connector to SAP ES >>Explorer?
Well, you need to understand that the working and underlying principles of Connector and ES explorer is different.
1.SAP Connector is there to expose the RFC/BAPI from SAP ERP system and provide design time and runtime support for application development.
    2. ES explorer provides access to the services published into Service Registry, which can be consumed by application.
    >>Our aim is to use the SAP ES Explorer with Visual Studio 2005 version.
    >>Or is there any other way to migrate the application using SAP ES Explorer without using service >>registry. Please reply as soon as possible as we are not able to proceed further.
Bottom line is, if you want to use ES Explorer you would have to ensure that there exists a Service Registry and Services are publish in that.
Hope to clarify some of your points.
    Regards.

  • JOB execution fails due to Access failure to procedures and views using certificates (encryption)

Job execution fails using SQLServerAgent account but runs successfully under another windows personal account.
Both have same security access on server and DB.
The Windows account is mapped to dbo on the database .
The package uses procedures and views which are using encryption by certificates.
Please advice on how to provide security so that job runs from the agent

    Hi Prady26,
If the SQL Server Agent Service account and the proxy account generated based on a Windows user account have the same permissions on both the SQL Server database and the File System of the server, it may be related to the protection level of the package.
If the package is set to encrypt with UserKey, the job will fail unless it runs under the security context of the Windows user that designs the package in BIDS/SSDT. You can check the
ProtectionLevel of the package in the BIDS/SSDT to see if it is EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey or EncryptAllWithUserKey, if it is, re-deploy/reinstall the package and set the package protection
level to “Relay on server storage for encryption”.
If the issue persists, post the error message in the job history for further analysis.
