  • New Book on SAP BW Performance Tuning

    Hi All,
Just thought of sharing this info on SDN...
A new book on SAP BW Performance Tuning is available...
    http://www.erpguides.com/books/bwperformance.htm
Shreekant W Shiralkar & Bharat Patel have authored a book on SAP BW Performance Tuning. The book is based on their real life experiences on improving the system performance using various features/techniques/ideas.
I am aware that the The book covers many how-to procedures with screen shots for helping the reader to implement the performance improvement and benefit immediately. It would be interesting to read this book as a compilation of practical experiences on performance tuning .
    Cheers,

    Hi,
Read Data warehousing books written by Ralph Kimball or Bill Inmon in order to familiarize yourself with the basic concepts of data warehousing. This is the foundation of the entire thing.
Follow the SAP training materials on BW Data Warehousing, BW Reporting and BW Modeling. There are several books that can help you a lot when getting started. check this link
    [http://www.amazon.com/SAP-BW-Book-List/lm/RRWM7R55RBEXQ/ref=cm_lmt_srch_f_2_rsrsrs2/103-7157721-8001426]
After you have a solid BW knowledge, start to review the help.sap.com site.
    Hope this helps,

  • BOXI3.1- SAP Cubes-Performance

    Hi all,
please let me if any body know to increase performace in subject environment (BOXI3.1- SAP Cubes-Performance).
where currently my WebI report are taking an average 2 mins 30 sec.
    thanks,
    reddeppa k

    Hi Reddeppa,
when you run the Web Intelligence report how does it compare to the report in BEx Web Reporting ?
Keep in mind that when really wanting to compare you would need to put the items from the Web Intelligence query panel into the BI Query rows or columns.
    thanks

  • SAP ITS Performance issues with integration

    Hi All,
We wants to know about  performance issues if  CRM and SAP ECC6 systems connected together with SAP ITS implemented ?  What are the main things to be considered or evaluated? How the above scenario can be implemented ?
    Thanks in advance
    Ramakrishna

    Hi,
New  SP was released in February, and now most of the new bugs should been caught ,This has a Central Note. For SP06 it's Note 1527325 - Planning and Consolidation 7.5 SP06 NetWeaver Central Note to fix any issues. Most of the improvements in SP06 were related to performance, especially when logging on from the BPC clients. There you should be able to find a big list of fixes/improvements and Notes that describe those. Some of the Notes even have test description how to reproduce that issue in the old version.
    hope this will help you

  • SAP CRM Performance tuning

From where can I get information or documents how to do performance tuning in SAP CRM?

Hi, Performance Tuning a SAP system is unique in every environment, also there are many area's in SAP to tune even area's outside SAP, eg... your Operating System/Network/Client Machines/Virtual Landscape/Cloud.
I recommend that you engage in a performance testing execise which will identify what area of your SAP Landscape needs tuning, first you need to identify the bottleneck before you can tune it.
The way the question was posed is exactly the same as wanting to fix a car but you have no idea which part of the car to fix...
*LoadRunner is an excellent tool to simulate virtual work load on an SAP environment*

  • SAP Netweaver Performance Tuning

    Guys,
I am good in SAP J2EE Engine Performance Tuning. I would like to learn SAP ABAP Based Server Performance tuning end to end. Please recommend me some links/docs to start with the performance tuning for different OS like HP-UX/AIX & for Databases : Oracle/MaxDB etc.
    Thank you in advance.
    Cheers, Karthick

Hi Karthick, for example for SAP with Oracle on AIX -->
    white paper -->
    http://www-03.ibm.com/support/techdocs/atsmastr.nsf/WebIndex/WP100377
But SAP with Oracle tuning are usually not very much dependent on the platform, of course there are differences but they are not much.
Personally, I bought the SAP Performance Optimization Guide -->
    http://www.sap-press.com/products/SAP-Performance-Optimization-Guide-(5th-Edition).html?
and SAP Database Administration with Oracle
    http://www.sap-press.com/products/SAP-Database-Administration-with-Oracle.html
    Nice books. Regards.

  • In sap bi performance tuning option is considered in cube not in ods, why?

    details about
    indexes,partitions,aggregates,compression,roll up
how these are helping to increase system performance
    why ods is not suitable?

    Hi,
Generally we do performance tuning on the cubes as most of the reportings are done on the cubes hpowever in case of DSO also we can increase the performance by creating indexes of deactivating SID generation flag if there is no reporting on the DSO.
Following 2 links will show you different aspects of performance tuning :-
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/404544e7-83c9-2e10-7b80-a24d5099ce3f
    For LID and High Cardinality
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/005f3197-d3da-2e10-1a94-a5c62342f2aa
You may create aggregates on the cube if some of  IO are being used in the query very frequently to enhance the performce of query execution.

  • SAP Personas - Performance Testing using LR

    Hi,
We are attempting to do Performance Testing on SAP Personas. For that end, we are trying to create some script using LR. However, there is a parameter which seems to contain some session information and we have been unable to locate it on the server response in order to correlate it.
This is the parameter I am referring to which appears on the LR recording:
    web_custom_request
    ("xml",
      "URL=http://myserver:8001/sap(cz1TSUQlM2FBTk9OJTNhc2FweHJhX1hSQV8wMSUzYTRvUElUSmNyX2x3VmhwRkJ2aHhMT1RDQzVsbGxOZFZULS1JZjBIUVktQVR)/restgui/batch/xml",
At this point, the script fails with a HTTP 400 message.
I found certain similarity between the string above and the one on included on a cookie, almost at the start of the recording:
    set-cookie: sap-appcontext=c2FwLXNlc3Npb25pZD1TSUQlM2FBTk9OJTNhc2FweHJhX1hSQV8wMSUzYTRvUElZNER1YnB6Wk9mNlV2dExtbDJTOWwxbGxOZFZUOXZKQjBXckItQVRU; path=/sap(bD1lbiZjPTEwMA==)/bc/bsp/persos/mainapp
Notice how from the strings match on 40+ characters...
As for the other part of the sting, it does not appear anywhere on the server response.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
BTW, we are using LR 11.00

    Hi Ricardo,
I have never worked with LR but I can help you understanding the sequence of requests.
Before the first post request ending with restgui/batch/xml is sent, there should be a get request ending with /restgui/newsession?sap-client=XXX. The response to this request contains the session ID you are looking for in its body.
    Cheers,
    Tobias.

  • SAP BPC PERFORMANCE AND DESIGN SUBJECT

Hello experts, i ahve an issue about the design of an application in SAP BUSINESSOBJECTS bpc7 for nw7, since there are three applications those have tobe within a same appset, and they use almost the  same dimensions, there are two options:
1.-to unify the 3 applications separately in a same appset, which implies 3 cubes in bi7 backend, and they will ask data from each other
2.-to unify the 3 applications in a same appset, and within the same application, which implies one cube in bi7 backend, and all the information will be inside this cube
Which implications has each of this options in performance, anda complexity of implementation, which would be better?
    Best regards

    Hi,
I would suggest you post the question into the EPM / BPC area as this forum is about the BI part of BusinessObjects

  • SAP standard performance&healthy reference indexes values

    Dear Gurus,
In EWA report there are many sys performance & healthy indexes (see the list below).
We can evaluate the system's healthy status through them.
But we have to know the SAP standard reference values first.
My question is where I can find out the standard reference values for all of the indexes? (or some of the most important ones of them)
For instance , The index 'Reference for Avg. Response Time (ms) ' for DIA task is 1600ms.
    Average Response Time/Dialog Step(ms)
Average Wait Time Per Dialog Step(ms)
    AVerage Roll In Time(ms)
    Average Load And Generation Time(ms)
Average Database Time Per Dialog Step(ms)
Average Processing Time Per Dialog Step(ms)
    Average Roll Wait Time(ms)
Average GUI Time Per Dialog Step(ms)
    AVerage CPU Time(ms)
    Average DB Procedure Call Time/Transaction.(ms)
Average Lock Time Per Dialog Stepz(ms)
    Average RFC Interface Time(ms)
    Average Frontend Network Time(ms)
    Requested Data(KB)
    Number Of Roundtrips
    Number Of VMC Calls
    Total VMC CPU Time(s)
    Total VMC Elapsed Time(s)
    Average VMC CPU Time(ms)
    Average VMC Elapsed Time(ms)
    Number Of Dialog Steps
    Thank you very much!
    Jason

    Hello Pravin Challa,
I've read the webpasges you offered.
I've learnt a lot from your help.
But there are still terms some terms confused me.
At the part 'Analysis of DB SQL CACHE' of our EWA report.
I can undstand some terms clearly. For instance,
'CPU Load [%]','I/O Load [%]','Elapsed Time [%]','Executions','Records Processed'.
I want to know their specific definition, computing interval and the unit of their value.
    Thanks!
    Jason
